fandom misconception: ian will never love anyone the way he loved mickey :~)

FALSE.           ian’s relationship with mickey was a very important relationship in his life and it had a lot of emphasis on who he has become. but ian came to a lot of realizations in season six -- through caleb’s observations as they spoke, he realized that his relationship with mickey was unhealthy. did he love mickey? yes, absolutely. will part of him always love mickey? unfortunately yes. but to say that ian will NEVER love anyone the way he loved mickey is absolutely ridiculous. ian is very guarded -- as most gallaghers are -- but he is willing to let other people in. he is willing to give people a chance, and i’m sure once someone breaks down those walls that he’s built up ( partially due to his upbringing, partially due to his mental illness, and in a large part due to the abusive nature of his relationship with mickey ) he will love them as much as he did love mickey. it takes a while to get over someone that takes up literal years of your life ( especially when you’re as young as ian is ) but ian will love again. in fact, he’ll love better than the way he loved mickey. because i believe that ian has learned a lot from his relationship with mickey ( again, look at his facial expressions in the scene with caleb when they talk about ian’s past relationship ) and he has learned what to avoid. he has learned what he needs in order to be healthy, and most importantly? he has learned that someone is NOT m.ickey m.ilkovich.

pretty little liars

    my all-time ultimate fave character:  spencer  hastings.  and  this  has  changed  through  all  seven  seasons,  but  i  think  she  is  the  really  ultimate  i  would  die  for  fave.    a character I didn’t used to like but now do:  mona  vanderwaal  and  jenna.    a character I used to like but now don’t:  alison  dilaurentis.    a character I’m indifferent about:  emily  fields.    a character who deserved better:  aria  montgomery.    a ship I’ve never been able to get into:  emily  x  paige.    a ship I’ve never been able to get over:  aria  x  jason  and  now  spencer  x  caleb.  marlene,  i  hate  you.  but  also  hanna  and  caleb.    a cute, low-key ship:  i  liked  spencer  and  diego  boneta’s  character,  same  as  aria  and  the  boxer  dude  and  hanna  and  jordan.      an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it:  my  kids,  spencer  and  caleb.    a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened:  CECE  AND  JASON.  ARIA  AND  EZRA.    my favourite storyline/moment:  my  girls’  development,  all  three  of  them.    a storyline that never should have been written:  aria  and  ezra  getting  back  together  after  the  book  arc.  also  cece  /  charles  being  a.  those  two  were  the  worst  arcs  ever.  also  spaleb. ��even  though  i  love  the  ship,  i  hate  the  way  it  was  written  just  to  cause  drama  and  put  spencer  in  a  bad  place  and  honestly  troian  got  so  much  hate  about  this  sdkbhs  i  get  heated.  oh  and  noel  being  killed  off,  so  much  wasted  potential.  TO  BE  HONEST,  EVERYTHING  AFTER  S4  IS  AWFUL.  but  everything  after  cece’s  reveal  is  just....  hard  to  endure.  i  hate  how  marlene  broke  all  the  couples  up  and  had  people  be  engaged  and  all  just  to  cause  drama  as  if  agreeing  to  marry  someone  is  a  joke  and  ugH  I  HATE  IT  ALL.    my first thoughts on the show:  i  had  read  half  of  the  first  book  before  watching  the  pilot  and  it  was  kinda  different  from  what  i  imagined,  but  i  was  hooked  from  the  start.    my thoughts now:  as  much  as  i  love  the  cast  and  cried  watching  the  goodbye  stuff  --  can  it  just  end  already  so  i  can  be  free  of  it?

ANOTHER FUN FACT. robert ulrich, the casting director of glee, saw me and immediately thought of adding a brother for mercedes. IF ONLY. SIGH.my thoughts now: still love it. the last season was irrelevant, as was most of S5, but i still loved it.bonus: a character that i’ve roleplayed: Puck, Kurt, MIKE CHANG. a couple of others as well.

      headcanon  002:  love.  as  silly  as  it  may  sound,  karma  ashcroft  loves  love.  while  she  has  not  had  many  experiences  with  it  herself,  mostly  because  of  her  insecurities,  but  she  has  always  dreamed  about  it.  the  prince  charming,  the  type  of  love  that  would  keep  her  awake  at  night  daydreaming,  the  perfect  first  kiss,  the  perfect  first  time.  the  guy  who  would  give  her  inspiration  to  write  music  and  would  accept  her  and  cherish  her  for  who  she  was.  she  was  always  fantasizing  about  it,  ever  since  a  very  young  age.  surely,  throughout  her  life  she  had  her  fair  share  of  crushes.  however,  most  people  would  argue  she  had  way  too  many  and  not  nearly  enough  relationships.  and  that  is  where  the  first  part  of  karma’s  problem  with  love  began.

      with  time,  karma’s  perfect  fantasy  turned  into  desperation.  the  more  she  grew  to  dislike  herself,  the  more  desperate  she  was  for  someone  to  like  her.  because  if  someone  liked  her,  perhaps  she  would  like  herself.  the  only  person  who  seemed  to  actually  cherish  her  was  amy,  and  karma  always  thought  she  did  not  leave  out  of  pity  or  because  she,  too,  had  no  one  else.  she  never  thought  amy  loved  her.  not  that  way,  anyway.  she  wanted  more.  she  wanted  a  love  story  like  romeo  and  juliet,  like  brad  and  angelina,  like  the  ones  in  the  movies  and  the  songs.  she  just  wanted  to  feel  loved  and  have  something  normal  in  her  life.

       cue  liam  booker,  karma’s  first  love.  the  most  popular  guy  in  school.  so,  of  course,  karma  is  interested  in  him.  at  first,  it  is  not  because  of  who  he  is,  it  is  solely  based  on  his  appearance  and  status.  subconsciously,  that  is,  because  i  doubt  she  knew  just  what  she  was  doing  (  and  how  she  was  programming  herself  to  like  liam  because  of  who  he  was  and  what  he  represented.  )  basically,  karma  wanted  to  date  the  most  popular  guy  in  school  and  get  attention,  even  if  she  ended  up  regretting  it.  

       but  then  she  fell  in  love.  deeply,  madly,  completely.  the  more  she  got  to  know  liam,  the  more  she  liked  him.  and,  suddenly,  she  had  gotten  what  she  wanted  --  her  tragic  love  story.  i  say  tragic  because,  yes,  she  had  found  her  prince  charming.  but  things  never  went  as  planned  between  them.  she  broke  his  heart.  he  broke  hers.  they  crashed  and  burned,  just  like  most  love  stories  do.  yet,  she  does  not  regret  one  bit  of  it.  

         yes,  loving  liam  completely  ruined  her.  but  it  also  taught  her  a  lot.  it  taught  her  what  love  really  is  about  and  how  it  is  more  than  just  setting  yourself  up  to  like  whoever  you  want  to  like.  love  happens  when  you  least  expect  it.  as  it  was  happening  with  felix,  as  it  happened  with  amy  (  but  this  involves  karma’s  problems  with  her  sexuality,  which  is  in  this  post.  )  karma  and  liam  went  from  being  just  friends  with  benefits  to  being  in  love  twice  and  it  showed  how  you  cannot  control  how  feel,  especially  not  karma,  who  cannot  for  the  love  of  god  turn  off  her  emotions  (  she  is  an  artist,  after  all.  )

       but  more  than  that,  karma  and  liam’s  relationship  showed  just  how  deep  karma  goes  when  she  is  in  love.  how  deeply  she  feels  and  how  much  she  cares  and  how  she  will  still  care  even  after  her  heart  has  been  completely  shattered  --  partially  because  she  is  afraid  of  never  being  loved  again,  mostly  because  she  just  does  not  know  how  to  move  on  from  people,  as  everyone  she  loves  leaves  a  mark.

      up  next:  karma’s  insecurities.

misconception: alec is an emotionless salt mine

FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE.          this misconception actually makes me really mad and it comes around way too often. alexander gideon lightwood is not emotionless -- a salt mine, oh definitely, but not emotionless. this misconception comes from the idea that emotions can only be shown outwardly, and if other people can’t see them? they don’t exist. but alec internalizes everything. you can see this a lot in the moments where he’s feeling guilty. he beats himself up, and he feels everything. alec will ALWAYS claim that he’s fine and not feeling any form of emotion whatsoever, but it’s not true. he just keeps his feelings to himself, not even wanting to be around anyone else while he processes them. this was a big thing this season after what happened with jocelyn. he killed her while possessed by a demon, and yet he blamed himself so whole heartedly. he felt sadness, he felt guilt -- because of clary someone he doesn’t even like that much. he literally isolated himself and shot his arrows into the air trying to work through what he was feeling. he pushed away jace of all people because the emotions were too much to handle. in summary, alec lightwood feels things more than people realize, but he’s written off as emotionless because he internalizes it all instead of expressing it.
