UNDERNEATH THE TREE ! ✩ ₊˚ 엔하이픈
"i just wanna let him unwrap me like ooh
get on top of him by the fireplace ooh"
santa tell me (naughty ver) - ariana grande
christmas with enha ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
c/w: suggestive in heeseungs, hoons, and jungwons, otherwise fluff.
heeseung ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
you wait for your husband heeseung to return from work as you hang up some last minute xmas decorations. christmas was tomorrow, but you decided you wanted to get the party started tonight.
you stood in front of the tree in your skimpiest santa outfit and red heels to match as you wait for the doorknob to twist. after what feels like forever you finally hear some keys jingle.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!" you yell as he barely has one foot in the door.
his once tired face was now wide awake looking at the love of his life all pretty for him. "baby, what's all this?" he says, his bambi eyes lighting up at the sight.
"since you've worked hard all week, i wanted to celebrate early." you say innocently, although you looked far from it. "don't you like it?"
"like it? i'm gonna get you pregnant."
jay ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
you and jay decide to go out christmas eve night to celebrate the holidays. you guys spend the night downtown. he takes you to a fancy restaurant, a few stores and finally takes you to see the Christmas lights.
you guys both sit on a bench, snuggled against each other for warmth as y'all watch the the glowing lights.
"wow, jay. these are so beautiful." you say mesmerized.
"not as beautiful as you," he says with his usual smirk.
you hit him on the chest, bursting into laughter. 'thank you, jay, but that was so corny!" you giggle at him.
he pretends to be offended before laughing with you. "oh yeah? i can get cornier." he says, turning his whole body towards you and taking your hand in his.
"i have been in love with you since the day i met you. no matter how long we've been together, i could never get tired of seeing your face. hearing you laugh. even hearing you yell at me. these christmas lights are nowhere near enough to express my love for you." before you can get a word out, he's down on one knee.
"will you marry me?"
jake ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
you and jake decided to bake cookies for the holiday, prancing around the kitchen to the old christmas music and exchanging loving looks occasionally.
jake decides to come by and boop frosting onto your nose. two can play at that game. you then wipe frosting onto his cheek. frosting on the cheek turns into cookie dough in hair, cookie dough turns into sprinkles on the floor, and that all turns into a full-on food fight.
you guys finally stop, catching your breath as you take in the mess you've made. you take a few moments to look at each other in disbelief.
"race you to the shower?"
sunghoon ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
sunghoon has never been the most festive person, despite being called the "ice prince." however, he ended up dating a girl who gets down about holidays, especially christmas. you come out of the room with a reindeer antler headband on and your ugliest sweater.
"hoonie, why aren't you dressed for jakes party?" you say with a pout.
"i was just gonna stay here tonight, babe." he says casually.
"uh, no, you're gonna come to this party with me. you said you would!" you say walking up to him to grab his hand.
"y/n, i don't want to go, and that's final.
you roll your eyes stomp towards the door, grabbing your jacket. "fine. guess you won't be getting your gift tonight."
sunghoon's ears perk up. "gift?"
"oh, yeah. you didn't think i made a trip to Victoria's Secret for nothing, did you? but if you're not going—"
"i'll be ready in five."
sunoo ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
you came home to sunoo decorating the living room, humming to the christmas tunes playing.
you sneak up behind him for a back hug and kiss his shoulder. "it looks so pretty in here, noo!" you say rubbing his back.
"thank you, i tried my best! i even decorated our room. you should go look!!" he says, smiling back at you as he hangs his last ornament.
you nod and make your way upstairs, excited to see what your loving boyfriend did with the room.
you walk in and it almost looks like a winter wonderland. it was going to be hell to take down but you're greatful nonetheless.
you continue to walk around the room until you spot something in the corner of your eye.
"sunoo.." you call for him from upstairs.
"yes my love?"
"why is there a mistletoe above our bed ?"
jungwon ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
as jungwon kissed you goodbye before he left for practice, you got a brilliant idea. he always talks about how he "doesn't need any gifts because you're enough." so how about you put that theory to the test?
that evening, you open your closet to find the leftover wrapping paper you had and began to strip. you make a wrapping paper dress around yourself and even wrap yourself some heels, too.
you lay yourself underneath the tree and wait for him to return.
he finally comes home and immediately bursts into laughter. you give him a puzzled look before he finally catches his breath.
"b-baby" wheeze "what're you doing down there?"
you stand up, dusting yourself off. "i was trying to suprise you. i'm your present!" you say with a small pout. all he does is burst into another fit of giggles.
"jungwon!! your girlfriend is standing in the middle of the living room wearing nothing but wrapping paper, and all you can do is laugh?" you say getting annoyed.
he continues to laugh as he steps closer, holding your waist.
"just laughing, baby? i'm turned on."
niki ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆
niki is mad as hell. why ? his lovely girlfriend made him wrap himself in wrapping paper and even added pretty 'princess' bows on him.
"y/n, can i take this off now?" he says with pleading eyes
"NO!" you tell at him as if a mom was scolding her child. "let me take some pictures first!"
he stomps the ground and rolls his eyes like a kid before he stares at the camera.
"smile like you love your life."
"baby i don't wanna do th-"
"SMILE!"
a/n: this is cute but its doodoo

- Just Because ❥
Plot: After being apart for over two weeks, Roman takes his lady on a date to make up for lost time.
Warning: Lots of fluff & heavy romance!
A/N: another massive thank you to whoever requested this one. if you know me, you know that i’m an absolute sucker for romance, so i wrote this with my heart. i hope you enjoy! 🌹💗
—————————————————————————————————
“I missed you so much sweetheart,” Joe says in between kisses to my temple.
I smile, my head laid against his chest, and look up at him. “I missed you more, love.”
He pulls away smiling, a gorgeous shimmer in his eyes. “Impossible.”
I chuckle and cup his face, tucking away a thin strand of hair that came loose from his bun.
Joe just got home from a work trip - more specifically, a PLE in Saudi Arabia.
Normally I’d attend big events with him, but this trip was over two weeks long, so I stayed back to watch after our children and such.
However, once they found out he was coming home today, Joe’s parents offered to take the kids so that we’d have some time to ourselves.
“Just don’t come pick them up with any more grandbabies,” his mom teased us with a wink.
While his time on the road isn’t easy for either of us, seeing him again is so worth the wait every single time. <3
That same shimmer in his eyes turn into mischief, and I can tell that an idea comes to him.
“What are you up to, Mr. Anoa’i?” I ask, narrowing my eyes with a smirk.
He chuckles and wraps his arms around my waist.
“Well Mrs. Anoa’i,” he teases, earning a giggle from me. “How would you like to check out that new fancy restaurant downtown?”
I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck. “What’s the occasion?”
“Just because,” he replies, shrugging. “I missed you a little extra this trip. And I love spoiling you, baby. You deserve every bit of it.”
I giggle, shaking my head. “My hubby, you’re something else.”
“Tell me something I don’t know,” he teases, a playful smirk plastered on his face. “Now, go get all dolled up for me sweet thing.”
Just then, the perfect outfit comes to mind.
“No coming upstairs until I’m ready,” I order, holding up my pinky. “Promise?”
Knowing how much I love dressing up, - not only for him, but in general - he chuckles and loops his smallest finger with mine before we kiss our hands. “I promise, beautiful.”
Satisfied, I kiss the corner of his mouth before running upstairs.
Once I step into our closet, my eyes automatically land on the dress: a black leather bodycon that hugs me in all the right places.
I bought this dress about a week ago, meaning Joe has never seen me in it, so I’m beyond excited to get his reaction.
I decide to freshen up with an everything shower, using all Victoria’s Secret Bare Vanilla scented products.
Once finished, I come back into the bedroom and start getting dressed: a pretty red lingerie set, the dress of course, some diamond jewelry that Joe got me for Valentine’s Day, my favorite black heels, and one of my many LV bags.
Afterwards, I head back into the bathroom to do some final touches.
I decide to just blow-dry my hair and throw on some very natural makeup aside from a red lip, allowing my natural curls and skin to breathe.
As I’m fluffing out my hair, I hear a knock at the door.
“Sweetheart?” Joe calls from the other side. “I left my watch on the counter. Can I come in?”
I take a deep breath and do some final checks in the mirror. “Yeah I’m all ready.”
“Thanks ba…” his voice trails off when the door opens and he sees me, stood in the mirror.
I turn to face him, gently biting my lip, as his eyes scan my entire body.
“Baby doll you look incredible,” he compliments, walking over and lifting my hand above my head, spinning me.
“Thank you love,” I reply, blushing like a maniac. “You look amazing yourself.”
“I better,” he coos, wrapping his arms around me and caressing my ass through the leather. “With a sexy lady like you on my arm.”
“Stop,” I mutter, blushing and looking down.
Chuckling, he gently lifts my head up by my chin. “Don’t act all shy now, girl. You knew exactly what you were doing with this dress.”
Instead of answering, I adjust his already-perfectly-placed red tie.
He smirks and takes my hand, pressing the top to his lips. “You all ready to go, love? Our reservations are in half an hour.”
I nod, intertwining our fingers. “All ready.”
He flashes me a gorgeous smile before stepping aside and letting me out of our bedroom first. “After you, beautiful.”
I smile and lead us downstairs.
—————————————————————————————————
“Take care of her for me,” Joe teases the valet guy, nodding towards his black SUV and handing him a generous tip.
The man chuckles before taking the money. “Will do, sir. Thank you.”
Joe responds with a smile and quick nod, before placing a hand on my lower back and leading us inside the restaurant.
“Welcome in,” the woman at the host stand greets us, with a wide smile.
“Hi there,” he replies sweetly, rubbing soft circles onto my skin. “Reservation for Joe?”
The lady taps away at her iPad before nodding and looking back up at us. “Perfect. Right this way.”
She leads us up a flight of stairs and onto a rooftop, which is completely empty.
“Here we are,” she says, once we reach our table. “The private bar and chef are just around the corner of the building, so you have some extra privacy.”
Joe gives her a satisfied nod. “Amazing, thank you.”
She nods back with a smile. “My pleasure. You two enjoy.”
As she walks away, Joe pulls out a chair for me.
“Joe,” I begin, looking around. “You rented out the rooftop? And a private bar and chef? Just for a casual date? This is crazy.”
He chuckles and kisses my cheek. “Darling, I told you earlier. I love spoiling you.”
“I know but…” he cuts me off before I can rebuttal any further.
“Enough,” he demands, cupping my face. “I barely see you as it is with how hectic my job can be. Let me spoil you while I have the opportunity to.”
I let out a sigh, accepting defeat, and sit down. “Alright. Thank you.”
He lets out a hum of approval before pecking my lips and sitting across from me.
Throughout the dinner, we share some small and romantic talk, stolen kisses, and just all around enjoy each other’s company.
As I take a final sip from my wine glass, soft music from an outdoor jazz bar across the street starts playing at full volume.
I look over the balcony and smile, watching the band play and couples slow dance together.
All of a sudden, I hear Joe clear his throat, causing me to look up.
He’s stood by my chair, holding out his hand.
“May I have this dance, miss?” he offers, a gorgeous smile on his face.
I giggle softly, taking his hand and standing up. “Of course you may, sir.”
His chuckles and pulls me in, his arms around my waist and mine around his neck.
We start swaying to the soft beat.
“This is so romantic,” I coo, looking into his deep brown eyes, running my fingers through his soft curls.
He smiles, nodding in agreement. “It is.”
We lean in and share a sweet kiss, touching foreheads as we pull away.
“Thank you for tonight,” I speak up again, my voice just above a whisper.
He pulls away and strokes my face with his knuckle, looking down at me and smiling. “Anything for my favorite girl.”
I smile and lean in once again, pressing my lips to his in a passionate kiss.
He immediately kisses back, stroking my back in the process.
Once we pull apart, I lay my head on his chest, inhaling my favorite cologne.
He presses a kiss to my hair and holds me close.
—————————————————————————————————
When we finally get home, I immediately plop down on the sofa with a heavy sigh.
Joe shuts the door and walks over, chuckling. “You alright, sweetheart?”
I let out a soft chuckle myself. “Between this food coma and all that dancing, I might be dying.”
He smiles, shaking his head and taking a seat next to me. “Here, angel. Let me help you.”
I give him a tired but grateful smile as he gently lifts my legs, lays them across his lap, and starts removing my heels.
Once they’re off, he strokes and applies feather-like kisses to my legs.
“Baby you’re a lifesaver,” I coo dreamily, my head sinking into the sofa cushion.
He chuckles and, instead of responding, gently lifts me up bridal style.
“Where are we going?” I ask, wrapping my arms around his neck.
He kisses my temple. “To get you into a hot bath. It’ll help the soreness go away and help you relax.”
I lay my head against his chest. “Mmm, honey that sounds amazing.”
“Good,” he replies, setting me down onto the sink when we finally make it upstairs. “Because it’ll feel amazing too.”
He gives me a quick kiss before turning to the tub and prepping some hot water and lavender scented soap.
I watch on as he heads into the bedroom to grab some tiny candles and lines them up against the porcelain as well.
“Joe,” I call out quietly. “You don’t need to do all this, love.”
He turns back around and cups my face, smiling softly. “I want to, baby doll. For you.”
I stick out my bottom lip and he chuckles before pecking it.
“Now,” he continues, reaching back to tie up my hair. “Let’s get you into the tub, hm?”
I nod and slide off the sink.
“How is it?” he asks, holding my hand and helping me lower my body into the water. “Need anything changed?”
I shake my head and sigh dreamily, my eyes fluttering closed. “It’s perfect, Joe. You’re perfect. Thank you.”
He chuckles before leaning down and applying a kiss to my temple. “The pleasure is all mine, sweetheart.”
I give him a soft smile and brush our noses together.
After a couple moments of comfortable silence, he breaks it.
“Now relax my love,” he coos, giving my cheek one last stroke. “I’ll be in to check on you soon.”
I nod and sink further into the water, allowing the heat and lavender to take over.
** Roman’s POV **
After about 15 minutes since I left Gianna in the bathroom pass, I decide to check on her.
“Sweetheart?” I call out, knocking at the door. “You alright in there?”
When I don’t get an answer, I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.
“Gi? Baby?” I ask, knocking again.
Once again, no answer.
What is she doing in there? Is she okay?
I open the door slightly and peek my head in, brought with quite the sight: my wife fast asleep in the bath, light snores pouring out of her parted lips.
I cover my mouth to prevent laughing too loudly, walk over, and sit on the edge of the tub.
“Sweetheart?” I call just above a whisper, stroking her hair. “Honey, we gotta get you out of here.
Her eyes slowly open and she looks around, then at me, confused as ever.
“W-what happened?” she asks, her voice still groggy and raspy from being on cloud nine literal seconds ago.
I chuckle, tucking a couple strands of loose hair behind her ear. “You fell asleep in the bath.”
“Oh,” she replies, sitting up. “I’m sorry. I guess it was more perfect than I thought.”
“Darling don’t be sorry,” I reassure, smiling and helping her up. “Careful, now.”
She steps out and I help her into her favorite fluffy robe.
“Mmm,” she hums in approval, laying her head against my chest. “Thank you, love.”
I smile and kiss her soft curls. “You’re welcome, sweetheart. Let’s get you in bed, hm?”
She nods and we head back into the bedroom to do just that.
Once her head hits the pillow, she’s off to dreamland once again.
Watching on, I smile and apply a light kiss to her lips. “Sleep well, my queen.”

“heyy wony i didn’t expect you to stop b— what is that.”
“it’s a cute little bag i saw while shopping!” and she’s smiling so innocently, “it reminded me of you, so i got it. do you like it?”
already aware of her compulsive buying tendencies, (and having acknowledged the very flamboyant, very visible chanel logo on the bag) you automatically ask, “wonyoung.. i love it i really do but— please.. how much was that..”
she stands there, trying to recall the estimate amount she spent on it (since she doesn’t even look at the pricetag before buying something lawl). “hm. around 5k i think? i would’ve gotten you something more expensive, but it was just so cute—“
“you spent five thousand dollars on me????”
oh please save me sugarmommy!wony i’m giggling… the way she would call her driver mid-date for you just so she can take you out to dinner in some expensive ass 5 star restaurant?? IT SOUNDS SO SPECIFIC BUT BARE WITH MEE
“i’m a bit hungry, aren’t you?” you asked, walking in the streets of downtown, holding onto her arm. “i know this burger place not far from here, we could g— wonyoung?” you ask.
“huh? oh sorry, i was just calling my driver to come get us.”
“isn’t he on break— why are you even calling him?”
and she looks at you puzzled, “??i thought you were hungry? also i’ll just pay him extra, his break can wait..”
“yeahh…? and where exactly are you planning to take us?”
her expression changes to a warm smile, “oh not that far.. do you remember that one restaurant i brought you to on our first date?”
you’re practically screaming at this point, “???the one that charged you 300 dollars for each of our meals???”
also kinda completely unrelated not really BUTTTT…. she’d buy you certain articles of clothing just because she thinks it looks good enough to rip it off of you later.. AHEHEH
heavy on lingerie btw. she’ll DRAGGG you to a random victoria’s secret just so you can try on the ones you think look nice! her evaluation criteria; ‘hmmm that one has free space on the sides so like if my calculations are correct i SHOULD be able to settle my hands on there and rip it off if i want to—‘

Hi Ali! Weird question but you mentioned you went to london a few months ago and I was wondering if you any tips to where to check accommodation and places to visit (im checking the possibility of going next year with some friends fingers crossed )and like there’s a lot and is kinda overwhelming
hii! not weird! keep in mind that i went alone though, so these are my experiences as a solo traveler on a budget~
i stayed at a women-only called hostelle. it made me feel safe, it was quite cheap (for london), and it was close to the tube and a few restaurants. it was also very queer friendly, i saw multiple enby people there as well. i only stayed in london for 4 nights, but very good vibes while i was there! they have rooms of 4 beds and up, so you could book a full room with your friends? though they didn't have AC, so i would probably avoid it in the summer lol
as for activities, i didn't have a fully packed schedule, i mostly went with what i felt like doing that day. also i was quite lucky that it didn't rain at all (except one half day) while i was there! but here are some of the things i did and loved (in no particular order):
victoria & albert museum: so so large with a lot of art, you could easily spend half a day there (it's also where they shot that red, white and royal blue slow dancing scene hehe)
full day trip to the cotswolds: @lightasthesun and i embarked on a small tour bus to visit four old picturesque little villages in the country side an hour or two outside of london. it was kinda pricey, but the sights were lovely and the guide was really fun. it's a "lowkey" activity with multiple breaks on a bus if you don't feel like walking all day. i would avoid going on the weekends tho
free self-guided walking tour in notting hill: this neighborhood with all of the colorful houses and fancy buildings was SO pretty!! i really enjoyed spending half a day there and walking all over. this is the walking tour i did if i remember correctly (the google maps itinerary was really handy)
while in notting hill i also went to the little museum of brands, it was really nice and fun to see the evolution of brands in the uk. and i also ate the farm girl cafe, the food was absolutely delicious and it was such a cute place!
hopping on a red double decker bus (NOT a hop-on hop-off tour bus, just a random city bus downtown because it's wayyyy cheaper) to see the sights, especially in the evening. i don't remember which route i took, but i remember googling "best sightseeing london bus routes) or something like that
walk, walk, walk! i walked a lot while in london, especially to see some of the famous sights: walking on the london and westminster bridges, big ben, the london eye, etc etc. i didn't visit any of the interior of these places, seeing it from the outside was enough for me to be honest. maybe next time!
camden market in camden town: such an eclectic vibe!! the market has a lot of shops and food stalls, it was nice walking in there. i would definitely go as early as possible in the day tho, cause by midday it was quite packed. the streets around the market are also fun to just walk in and take in the sights.
soho: lots of shopping and nightlife there. it's not really my scene that much, especially alone, but i enjoyed walking in this area for a little while. i spent quite a bit of time in the huuuuge liberty london department store. i had a very yummy fish & chips at golden union for dinner. the portion was huge, price was fair, and service was great.
the graffiti tunnel under waterloo station was really cool to take pictures in, but it did feel a little creepy to go there alone haha. the art there was really fun to see
kensington: kinda bougee neighborhood, but it was pretty, had a nice vibe and a lot of restaurants
annnnd that's about it, i think? i hope it gives you some inspiration and ideas!! london was really fun, i cannot wait to go again :D

"It lives in a world where feelings cannot be defined by words. Oh, set me free from my jealousy..."

New Factor It In chapter today!
Chapter 2 - “Tree Diagram”
Read on FFN || Read on AO3
---
It's WordGirl and Huggy vs. the mind-controlled Kid Math and an army of Tobey's robots downtown... Meanwhile, Victor and Victoria watch from a safe distance. Wow. Being a superhero sure seems like it would be the best...
(First 1,000 words under the cut)
Tree Diagram
.:: January 3rd - Saturday ::.
"All that is possible can be made probable once plans have been prepared."
(Ancient Hexagon proverb)
➕ ➖ ✖️ ➗
Psst! Look for the words civilian and resilient
--
Where we left off, WordGirl and Captain Huggyface were in the midst of a grueling fight against Tobey's robots and a mind-controlled Kid Math, courtesy of Mr. Big…
Even gentle snowflakes can feel like spikes of hail when you hurtle through them at Mach 4. They lash her cheeks and bite her eyelids. WordGirl plows through them anyway, one hand up to block at least one of her cheeks. It helps. A little. She's resilient either way.
She veers up from her comet-like charge and floats like a sparking star in the empty space. She plants herself in front of both Mr. Big and Tobey. Her whiplash arrival makes the former flail his arms in shock and the latter cry her name. WordGirl shakes her head, ignoring both, and floats a little closer to the man on the taller building.
"All right, Mr. Big! We can either do this the 'cheap and easy' way, or the 'hard and insurance paperwork' way. Now, stop mind controlling my friend and leave this city alone!"
Mr. Big takes one look at her and jabs a finger at the remote in his hand. Behind him, a bespectacled superhero kid bursts skyward with the husk of a giant robot lifted above his head. He's wearing cyan blue. White gloves. White boots. A yellow belt wraps around his waist, fastening with a hexagon buckle at his stomach. A single green light on that buckle blinks on and off.
The robot groans, flailing its limbs. One foot narrowly misses Tobey on the bakery's three-tiered roof. Its smacking hand almost whacks Mr. Big clean off the ambiguous building. Huggy shrieks, squeezing her neck. WordGirl chokes on a gasp, then steadies her balance in the air. There he is. And even from here, super-hearing or no super-hearing, she can hear Kid Math mutter the same mantra over and over under his breath: "Destroy competition. Construct new billboards. Destroy competition. Construct new billboards…"
"MY ROBOT!" Tobey wails, drawing his hands down his cheeks. "Number 14!"
"All right… Huggy, make a note: add Mr. Big to the list of villains we should never again leave Kid Math to handle alone. At… least not if we're across town instead of enjoying a conveniently placed picnic nearby with our binoculars in hand."
He squeals agreement, wrapping his arms and legs around her torso. Right. Back to business. WordGirl punches her hand into her open palm, thinning her eyes to slits.
"Okay, Kid Math! This chaos is way out of line. Your fractured reality is about to get simplified."
Does that even make sense? Math puns aren't her thing. She can define every word with the gossamer touch of a fairy princess, but that doesn't mean she understands the full complexities of equations and numbers the way he does. Her mind blurs after about 12. Kid Math stares back at her, all glaze-eyed and ghostly.
Then he arches his back and hurls the massive robot directly at her. "WHOA!" she yelps, and twists her flight pattern like a snake. Huggy squeezes with both arms and both legs. The robot (or what's left of it) cannonballs right past them. It plows through an empty parking lot outside a squid-themed restaurant- the one that doesn't serve seafood at all. WordGirl winces. Oops. Probably should have caught that… Tobey screams distress from the roof of the three-tiered bakery, clawing his fingers down his cheeks. Something about a partnership betrayed, and Mr. Big all but confirms this when he yells back from the neighboring rooftop, "My mistake, Theodore! I can't choose what he wants to throw!"
"Number 14…"
Kid Math twitches in the sky, his hands empty but his body still tense and looking for a fight. WordGirl keeps her eyes locked on his face. They can both fly at lightning-fast speed (well… thunder-fast), and dodging him will be a lot easier if he signals a move before he makes it. Thus far, she'd chased her wayward understudy - not that she'd ever tell him he was sort of like her understudy - from the bank to the park to the steakhouse and around through the loop again. Right from the start, it was obvious something was going on with him. His paths were too direct for him to pass as the real Kid Math, because this mind-controlled puppet version of her friend charged straight from Point A to Point B without taking thermal updrafts and wind resistance into the equation. Absolutely ineffective. Totally unlike him.
And of course, the Kid Math she'd come to know over the past four months wouldn't just be flying around destroying billboards and things either.
Or, uh… At least he isn't that destructive MOST of the time. WordGirl winces at the memory of a furious, flush-cheeked Kid Math punching a street sign hard enough to send it crashing through a window. He didn't mean to do that. He just didn't know his own strength yet.
Well, okay. As much as she hates admitting it, maybe she is being a little quick to grant him that benefit of the doubt… Even yesterday, Kid Math (in the guise of 8-year-old Rex Pemdas: the innocent, newly-enrolled 3rd-grade student of Woodview Elementary) had rambled to her on the way to the jewelry store that he had a plan to help the city "go green" before Earth Day rolled around in spring. His plan had involved "relocating" more than a handful of skyscrapers, and he'd been stubbornly reluctant to take "No" for an answer.
"Destroy competition. Construct new billboards. Destroy competition…"
Why she'd even escorted him to the jewelry store was another story altogether, and one that involved Invisi-Bill tackling his first solo crime since WordGirl had met him. The thin excuse to her brother TJ and tagalong Johnson had been "Rex wanted to check out the shiny doorknobs at the library and we need to run really fast to make sure we get there before it rains," to which TJ had rolled his eyes and snarked that Becky probably just wanted to get Rex hooked on Princess Triana novels. He and Johnson had wished their new friend good luck. They sprinted off, and Invisi-Bill had actually made it pretty far down the street before Kid Math had zeroed in on his whistling and-
A dot of green blinks in the center of her vision, snapping her focus back to the battle at hand. Aha! Something they can use. WordGirl blasts forward, arms extended, with her eyes locked on that little flashing dot. Now we're getting somewhere…

Day 93 - 8 December - Mumbai
Went for a run on the beach in the morning and there were loads of people playing cricket and football on the beach on the wet sand. There were lots of games happening simultaneously which felt a very Mumbai experience! On the way back I turned off the beach too early and had to run for 200m on the soft sand which was definitely took quite a lot off the time! We went for a swim on the roof and then went for breakfast, which was without the best breakfast we have had on this trip. I had a masala omelette and hash browns, puri and a potato masala, some rice, and a couple of other masalas, a chia seed pudding in coconut milk, coffee and masala chai. The people knew we were leaving and gave us a cupcake saying thanks for staying which I think was maybe a bit much but he stay was really nice!
We checkedout and got an Uber to the gateway of India which was about an hour away. The gateway was fine but crowded. We didn’t go inside but looked from afar. We then went to the Oval Maidan which was cool as there were hundreds of people playing cricket. It was insane there were multiple wickets side by side with games going on on each of them and then in the field there were multiple teams all concentrating on the game that was going on on their wicket but sharing the same space. We briefly spoke with some people who were playing and in the field. It seemed crazy but great fun. There was a more traditional game going on at one end. We watched for a bit it then walked to marine drive by the sea.
We walked down Marine Drive for a bit then decided to go to this Irani cafe a bit in from the coast. It was a really cool ambience, you can understand why Dishoom want to bottle that vibe. We had some chai, a delicious salty lime soda and a paneer tikka bun. Revitalised we walked down to Chowpatty Beach and then got an Uber to the hotel and picked up our bags and went to the airbnb in Bandra. We then walked into Bandra proper and had a nice drink in this bar called Bonobo (thanks Dalo/Alice) and then went to this pretty glam fish / Asian restaurant called Bastian (thanks Daly/Alice) which was good but quite expensive so we kept it pretty simple and then headed home. I watched the Spurs / Chelsea game and then we went to sleep.
Day 94 - 9 December - Mumbai
Woke up quite slowly as we didn’t sleep amazingly. We did some washing and got ourselves ready to go. Nin was going to the dentist so I decided to go and get my beard cut off as it was annoying me being so long. The guy egged me on to get it cut short which I was very willing to do. I picked Nin up and actually booked in for Tuesday morning for a teeth clean! We were both feeling a bit tired and the thought of going all the way into town before our food tour was a bit much, so we went to a cafe and got a drink and wrote our diaries (does this constitute breaking the fourth wall?) and then went back to the flat before we got picked up. I had a video call with Ben which was lovely as it was the first time we had spoken since we left.
We were picked up by Harini our guide who was a very lovely and chatty lady who I think had started doing the tours over the last 6 or so months (I imagine it was for something to do now her last child had gone to university). We drove the same way we had driven before into downtown Mumbai. Harini showed us a few famous buildings on the way, such as the absolutely ludicrous sky scraper house of Mukesh Ambani of Reliance industries which I had read about in university in the excellent essay Capitalism a ghost story by Arundhati Roy. It is the most expensive residence ever built and is only for 8 family members!
We got to the place where we were going to have our first food, near the famous Shivaji terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus) The first food we had was:
Puri - in a place that had been around since the 1840s and was set up by a guy who saw a market for people who would get food after public hangings that happened nearby! The puri was very tasty - we had 5 flavours; plain, paneer, masala, spinach, potato. They came with a pumpkin and potato subzi. It was a great start!
Veda pau - We then walked about 200m to the place where we got our Veda Pav which was right opposite the terminus this was also really tasty and much more spiced than the veda pavI had had before.
Irani cafe - We then hopped back in the car and drove a bit to an Irani cafe that it turned out we had gone to the day before, so I guess we have good taste. We had a delicious chicken cutlet and a chicken puff all with some Irani tea (which we had also had the day before). Both the dishes were delicious the cutlet had lots of interesting spicing and the puff was like a spiced vol-au-vent. We also had a delicious semolina cake which was in a little tin wrapper and was very comforting. We also spoke with Harouni about the Parsi community that runs most of the Irani cafes which I think is such an interesting part of the story of Mumbai.
Bombay sandwich - We then walked around the corner and got our Bombay sandwich, which again was very delicious. Harini said that the sandwich was created for industrial workers to have a snack or meal that had all the food groups in it with the energy from the bread.
Pani puri and bhel puri - we then drove to a sweet and chaat shop near the opera house where we had pani puri with a sweet and sour sauce made from tamarind and a green chutney. We then had bhel puri which I can’t remember if I have had before which is kind of a mix of different snacks all mixed up with sauces. I wasn’t crazy about it at first but I did get more into it as it went on.
Dosa - Getting into the final stretch we were getting very full and were coming up to the dosa which is a South Indian food which we have had quite a lot of so far. We decided to go for a more plain dosa itch some masala and onion rather than a full potato masala or paneer as it was a bit lighter. Still very good
Pav badji - the last savoury thing we at was a pav badji which if pav/pau (a delicious Mumbai bread roll made by Parsi and Muslim bakeries) and a mix of lots of different vegetables in a kind of ragout with spices. Again this is an industrial snack as it has carbs and all the food groups. We were very full but kept at it and did manage to finish it feeling quite relieved there were no more tasty snacks to have.
We walked round the road and got a kulfi which is an ice cream hat is usually on a stick. This time it was in a disk in a mix of milk solid, mango, pistachio and orange. It turns out we had room for this and we had it willingly, so much so that I got another full disk of mango which I think was the most delicious one.
After this we rolled back into the car and drove home feeling very full and very happy with our day.

Fleur-de-lis 16: Good Pet
Originally published Jun 24, 2017 This series is being revised
Though retired from the runway, Gisele Bundchen was still a key player in the fashion industry. A series of intelligent investments had made her not just the most financially successful supermodel in history, but a savvy businesswoman to be feared. Consider it this way: Gisele's husband, now indisputably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, was riding on the high of his fifth Super Bowl victory, and she was the real breadwinner. Gisele wasn't just money though, she was power. And anyone could benefit from having her name on their side. That was why, when backed against the wall by Elena Maxwell, Gisele was Michael Ramsey's only play.
Michael was a big player behind the scenes of Fleur-de-lis, effectively Elena's number two, but on the surface he was a ghost. If Michael Ramsey's name was floating around fashion forums online, something had gone seriously wrong. He knew that Gisele wouldn't just meet with him on request, he had to use someone with a higher profile. That was how Miranda was enlisted, pulled away from her duty in Goddess Maxwell's penthouse to reach out to Gisele. Miranda's star had fallen since signing on with Fleur-de-lis. It was baffling to the public why she would stay with the company if she was used in so few photoshoots, but the truth was simple: Miranda was Elena's favorite slave. Of all the models Elena had brainwashed, Miranda was the most fun. Elena looked forward to those inevitable power struggle when Miranda's conditioning would weaken, and her surrender when she accepted the conditioning all over again. Elena never kept Miranda too far from her home, and that meant fewer photoshoots than the other models. Fleur-de-lis had plenty these days anyway.
Miranda and Gisele were two people cut from the same cloth. In her non-brainwashed prime, Miranda had put her money into a series of savvy investments. She had ambitions of following in Gisele's footsteps. Similarity didn't mean they liked each other though, and Gisele found Miranda too cutthroat to deal with. Sure, Gisele didn't get to the top without betraying a few friends, but now that she was there she expected complete loyalty from scrubs like Miranda. It took some work to even get Gisele on the phone, but Miranda's promises of privileged Fleur-de-lis information was too good to ignore, so the meeting was set.
Gisele should have known that the promise was too good to be true, and she couldn't hide the annoyance on her face when she arrived at the restaurant that afternoon to find that Miranda had brought the lawyer along with her.
"I apologize," He said in a way of greeting. "Michael Ramsey, my firm represents Elena Maxwell and I didn't think you'd meet me one on one. He'd chosen a restaurant downtown. Someplace fancy enough that Gisele wouldn't feel too good for, but low key enough that Elena wouldn't know. He requested a booth, preferably in a corner, and the hostess placed them in the darkest corner they had to offer.
Gisele glanced at Miranda sitting silently by Michael's side and she said, "What is this, some kind of shakedown? I'm not buying into Fleur-de-lis if that's what you want."
"I'm not here to offer you stake in Miss Maxwell's company," Michael replied. "In fact, she doesn't even know about this meeting at all." Gisele raised an eyebrow, "A mutiny?" "You could call it that."
Gisele took her seat across from Miranda at the booth. "What's her problem?" she asked. Michael smiled, "Why don't you tell her there, Miranda." "I am a mindless slave," Miranda droned. "I must obey my orders." "Cute trick," Gisele said.
Michael went on to explain everything that had transpired since Elena's hostile takeover of Victoria's Secret. The models she owned, the people she'd brainwashed to keep things quiet.
"That's it?" Gisele asked. "She develops this technology and she uses it to brainwash models? It doesn't track. Why wouldn't she sell it to the government?"
"Technically, it's the government's research," Michael replied. "In the sixties Elena's husband, George Maxwell, went into business with a young engineer named Dorian Hawthorne. College friends. Dorian was the brains but with an bottomless trust fund, George handled the business. They first struck it big when Hawthorne Industries won a military contract and they began their research into what today is the heart of Fleur-de-lis' business: mind control. The military dumped Hawthorne and Maxwell before the senate started investigating MKUltra in the seventies. They moved into other ponds after that--clothing, fast food, radios."
"How did Elena get her hands on the technology?"
"Hawthorne never stopped his research. He continued it on his own dime, bought an island near Puerto Rico where he was free of government inspection. They split ways but remained close friends and when Elena came along," Michael paused, as if he was ashamed to even say this out loud. "Just think about it."
"Oh, I know all about Elena Maxwell," Gisele flashed a sadistic grin. "Failed model, fishing for rich guys until one finally bites. Gets her own company out of it." "George didn't trust Elena. Would you? Some woman forty years your senior comes along and you give her half your assets?" "He brainwashed her."
Michael was staring down at his untouched food. Then he said, "Yes, in a matter of speaking. They would regularly vacation at the Hawthornes' estate on Valverde where Elena would be educated." Miranda blinked, her thoughtless eyes as hollow as a statue's. "But it's not permanent. And when George died she...woke up. Started blackmailing Dorian. George kept tapes of Elena's sessions on the island and it wasn't the kind of thing that Hawthorne wanted falling into the hands of the government. They couldn't touch him on Valverde but he did have a lot of vulnerable money wrapped up in the United States. So he met her demands, surrendered everything he'd learned in fifty years. And then he died. Boating accident."
Gisele nodded in rapt fascination, and then she remembered that she was a businesswoman. "Okay," she said coolly. "What does any of this have to do with me?"
Michael scoffed and said, "You're the most powerful woman in this business. Elena's reach is unimaginable at this point. If she's not paying people off, she's brainwashing them, and it's not even models anymore. She's got Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry. Practically everyone who works at Nickelodeon. She's losing control and I've seen this before. Why do you think George kept those tapes of her brainwashing? He loved having dominion over her. If he were younger, he would have taken more women. She has to be stopped now before she's untouchable."
Gisele nodded. "What do you want me to do about it?" "Elena's crazy, but she isn't unreasonable. Buy her out. Fleur-de-lis is the most valuable lingerie company in the market right now, you'll be making money and doing a good thing. Please, Gisele. This has to end."
And that was how the plan was set in motion. It was nothing dramatic, no plan to beat Elena at her own game. Gisele had the money to offer, and Michael hoped that it would be enough to convince Elena to step aside. After they agreed on the amount, Michael told Gisele that he had to get Miranda back to the penthouse before Elena grew suspicious, and the went their separate ways. A few days later, Gisele's lawyers reached out to Michael to make the deal, and Elena responded with interest. She requested a meeting to discuss terms, which Gisele agreed to if she could choose the location. They met in an office at the law firm, and negotiations went quickly.
"I've been running Fleur-de-lis for a decade," Elena said. "And these last couple of years of success have been more stressful than all those years we spent in the red. Frankly, I'm ready to retire."
"I understand," Gisele replied. "Most models will say that they miss the runway but it was always so much work." "Of course," Elena smiled. "Now you're free to eat," her eyes gazing up and down the woman's body. Gisele shivered. "So we have a deal?" "Absolutely. I told Michael that I couldn't retired if I wasn't leaving Fleur-de-lis in capable hands, it's too important. But I don't know if there's anyone I trust more than the Bundchen brand. Its stock can only go up." "Well," Gisele smiled back. "Maybe you can invest some of your retirement in the company."
They shook hands outside of the firm, Gisele got into the backseat of her Benz, and the doors locked. "Enrique?" Gisele said to her driver. "Enrique?" Slowly the partition rolled down and Gisele was blinded by a piercing bright light. Everything slipped away, and her thoughts dissolved into nothingness.
Gisele awoke in her underwear, lying in bed and staring at herself in a mirror. She wasn't the first model to wake up in Fleur-de-lis' orientation room. Above her she saw a speaker, and Elena Maxwell's voice boomed: "You thought I'd just give my company away? You're a hard woman to get a hold of, but I just had to have a Gisele to complete my collection."
"Michael..." The name fell out of Gisele's mouth as she tried her best to form full thoughts.
"I thought Michael was going soft," Elena said. "But he played you pretty well. I wouldn't let a slave like Miranda out of my sight. But I knew if Michael showed up to that meeting alone that you'd never believe the story. You needed hard evidence. One of the models."
Gisele just laid there, her back propped against the headboard, struggling just to flex her muscles. She could only stare into that mirror, stare deep into her own foggy eyes. She tried to plead, but only tiny whines escaped her mouth.
"You like the room?" Elena taunted. "This building was a police station before my husband bought it. Never really thought I'd get a lot of use out of this old interrogation room. Pretty neat, right?"
"Neat..." Gisele parroted the words back to Elena. She'd been in a trance for so long, her mind completely vulnerable to Elena's words. She was already gone.
That evening Elena brought her newest thrall back to the penthouse. "What should I do with you?" She asked Gisele. The supermodel stood stiff in the doorway as she said, "Whatever you wish, Goddess." Elena clapped her hands in excitement and cried, "Oooh! I can't believe it! Gisele Bundchen, my slave!" "I cannot believe it either, Goddess."
Elena admired her conquest, running a hand through her long, dirty blonde hair. "What do you want me to do?" she asked. "Command me, own me. Obedience is my purpose. I live only to serve you and Fleur-de-lis."
Elena bit her lip. "Let's go. You're wearing far too many clothes." She dragged her slave to the bedroom, calling for Miranda to join them as she dropped Gisele onto the bed. Straddling Gisele, Elena removed her top and said, "Can you feel it? We haven't even fucked and you're already on the edge. That's what it's like to be a plaything. Every waking moment is a new, undiscovered pleasure."
"Thank you, Goddess," Gisele moaned. "Thank you for freeing my mind!" "Oh!" Elena giggled as Miranda slipped in to bed behind her, unclasping her bra and placing soft kisses on Elena's neck. She'd had so much practice in this bed that she didn't even need to wait for commands anymore. "And you, Miranda?" Elena asked. "Tell me how it feels."
"Intoxicating," Miranda replied. She stared down over Elena's shoulders into the empty eyes of Gisele, once her rival, and a slight smile crossed her face. She groped Elena's body, and then her kisses trailed up the woman's ear before Miranda whispered, "I love being a good pet."
Elena gasped, her eyes widened, and then she was at peace. "Good pet..." she repeated before collapsing limp on top of Gisele.
Miranda stood up, lazily dropping Elena's bra on the floor. Then with a scowl she said, "Your lack of will is incredible."

Yesterday I made it to downtown Salaberry de Valleyfield in southwestern Quebec. To get there I took the route along the water, through Saint Zotique and other little villages. I was blessed with another gorgeous day. These pictures were taken when I stepped out of my car on rue Victoria that runs along Dellpha Sauve Park. I parked and walked across to the Restaurant la Pataterie, where I ordered…

Friday, July 27 - Sydney
After a good amount of rain overnight, we woke early to grey skies clearing to the west and it turned out to be a perfect day for exploring Sydney. We had hoped to do a big semi-circular route following the waterfront, starting with the Botanic Garden and ending at the bottom of Darling Bay.
We walked up towards the harbor through Hyde Park, which has a lot of WWI memorials, and looks to be a great place to head on a hot summer day, with large, mature trees providing lots of shade.
We passed the oldest public building in Sydney, now called The Mint, but originally the "Rum Hospital", which served convicts and was built for the price of 45,000 gallons of rum. Further on down the street we arrived at the Botanic Garden, which is free to the public and quite extensive. There isn't much in the way of formal gardens, but lots of trees and water features, and lots of birds. The aggressive ones mentioned in the sign above are primarily gulls and ibis, but there are many other species involved, and all of them new to us.
The south side of Sydney harbor is actually a series of bays and we were able to walk along Farm Cove to Mrs. MacQuaries Point, which gave us a nice view of the Opera House to the west. We continued on around the point and then cut back across and walked over to the Opera House itself. The steps were full of school groups taking pictures, so we continued on around Circular Quay, which has multiple ferry docks. From here one can go just about any place in the greater Sydney area, as the ferries run almost continuously, and like the trains, are all tap on/tap off with "opal" cards or regular credit cards. We are planning to take one of the longer ferry rides to Manly on the North Shore on Sunday.
The quay area was full of tourists, restaurants and business people, and iconic views of the Opera House are available from the west side, where the cruise ship terminal is. No ships were in town, as this is off season (thankfully - several thousand more people would have really made things crowded).
The area to the west of the quay is called the "Rocks" and is some of the oldest part of Sydney. Old warehouses have been turned into shops, condos and restaurants, but there is still quite a bit of the original character around, with narrow alleys still existing. We stopped for lunch at the "oldest pub in Sydney", (called The Fortune of War) for a burger and brew, and they had nice outdoor seating and a very interesting interior.
We then walked west to another point and another beautiful waterfront walk into Darling Harbor, where many of the tour boats originate. Our original plan had been to do this area one day and the Botanic Garden area another day, but it was so nice, and we enjoyed the exercise, and so by the end of the day we had walked over 10 miles.
Towards the end of the day we headed back into the city, stopping by the Queen Victoria building, which is a four story shopping mall from the late 1800's. It was an interesting mix of over the top architecture and modern stores. Across the street was the "town hall" and a protest area, mostly featuring Assange and how locals felt he had been unjustly treated. There was another group advocating for a free Iran - I somehow don't think gathering signatures is going to make a difference.
One of the strange things about downtown Sydney is the complete dearth of grocery stores - instead there are tons of restaurants and take-out places. We finally found an Asian style produce market and picked up some fruit, and got some take-out for our evening meal, as we were pretty tired by then and ready to get back to our hotel and crash. Interesting sidenote - it appears Burger King is called Happy Jack's here - the logo and typeface are the same and they have Whoppers. But American fast food brands don't seem to dominate here like in other places - most of the take-out places are East Asian, along with the clientele. A good portion of the folks living here and visiting are Chinese, Japanese or Korean - a result of active immigration programs to keep their workforce from aging out.
Tomorrow we head up to the Blue Mountains on a small group hiking tour focused on hiking. We'll see how that goes. It will be cooler and I'm taking all my warm clothes, as it may be the coolest we are during our entire trip.
