Twenty years is a long time to know anyone, but it’s an especially long time to know a cat. Penelo passed away last night at home, with the help of an at-home euthanasia service. I was her person as much as she was my cat, and I will be always grateful and honored that she chose me.

We’re moving back to the area where we found her this June. Part of me hoped she would make it long enough to see the desert again, but that kind of poetry is for humans, not cats. It was better for her to go where she was most comfortable, curled up in my lap in our favorite chair, where we have sat together and loved each other for so many nights. I will bring her with me in my heart.

My wonderful, loved, sweet baby cat died today. I won't be posting any pictures on here for privacy reasons, but she was a russian blue with only 3 legs. She was the most loved cat, by me and many other humans, but also by her cat wife who loved her so dearly. When she had her leg amputated, my 2nd cat tried to pull the staples out of her incision because she knew it hurt her.

Today has been completely traumatic. She was hit by a car. Taken way too soon. I thought I'd have years more with her.

I just wanted to end this by saying thank you to @vriskarights for being such an absolute angel today and keeping me sane while I waited for bf to show up to calm me down. She was so comforting, and I am so lucky to have such an amazing best friend to be there for me during such a rough time.

My bf doesn't have Tumblr, so he won't see this, but he was absolutely amazing today too. As soon as I called he got in the car and drove the 45 minutes to come pick me up and calm me down. Today has been awful but it also made me realize how insanely lucky I am to have such amazing people in my life.

This is extra funny to me bc my cat did some of this shit, too.

He would always toss some food for the dog or throw it all off the counter, then jump down and eat from the floor with the dog.

He would sit on the table while my mom read online articles and stare at her phone screen, as if reading too.

He often slept with me when I was sick and meowed if he saw that I had put the meds on the nightstand but didn't take them.

He groomed both of our dogs, one older than him and the other younger. He had a habit of biting them if they didn't keep still. He was always so annoyed when they ran away halfway through his mandatory bathtime and would inevitably drag them back to finish grooming them.

Once, a neighbourhood cat kept hissing at our youngest dog. It wasn't a problem, they just avoided each other. But our cat got so offended that he attacked the other cat like how dare this ginger menace hiss at my baby brother??

Long story short, that's how our cat lost an eye 🫣

He also ate spiders and bugs and once brought home a half-alive small bird. It was injured but clearly capable of flight since it immediately flew over on top of our wardrobe and hid there... We managed to get it down and explained to our cat that bringing home stuff like this was NOT allowed. Lo and behold, he never did that again.

Oh and he was afraid of heights! He was perfectly able to jump or climb onto tall furniture, the fridge, even a really high shelf under the ceiling. But then he stared in horror at the ground below him, suddenly realizing what he'd done and meowed loudly in a panic. Somebody always had to get him down lmao

Because I have a disease where I want to add a baby to every television show I think Odo's changeling baby should have stuck around, but to save money they stay a little jar of goo for a long time. Like Odo's talking about how they turned into a dodecahedron yesterday but every time we see them Odo's carrying a jar of goo and is like "Say hello to the Major, sweetheart. They're all tuckered out 🥺." This has been "Deep Space Nine Slapstick Pitches."

I don’t care if it’s boring I’m 10000% in love with the idea of Vegeta having a quiet happy domestic home life throughout the 7 year gap and as his end game.

He was raised in an intergalactic mafia and by an absolute miracle got out and was granted his life back. Twice. One of the two last men standing when an entire population gets wiped out. Twice (counting the Freeza Force, by the end of ResF).

His father stopped fighting on the front lines once he became king, to watch over his domain. Frieza didn’t personally get involved in battle (not wipeouts, but actual battle) until Namek. Vegeta was always (told he was) intended to take both their places.

Letting him grow into a protector has been such a great arc and imho it would be so beautifully wrapped by letting him finally get to go home and inherit his crown as the guardian of his new planet.
