Edwin and Charles being "more than friends" not because their friendship is any less important than a romantic relationship, but because they are lovers on top of being friends.

Their romance is an addition, an evolution of their friendship, not a substitute for it. Everything that happened before Edwin confessing or Charles deciding that yes, he is IN love with Edwin, isn't any less powerful or real. They're each other's number one and always have been from the beginning. They never stop being each other's best mate.

having seen at least the rough outlines of all the romances now I have to say that I think emmrich's is probably objectively the best in terms of coherence and completeness of story arc (with the understanding that ultimately the 'best' romance is whichever one makes YOUR heart sing anyway so objectivity is a silly thing to claim that way, it just felt like it's the arc with the most well-paced focused content and the least dangling threads)... but lucanis' is my favourite haha. just. the whole kneeling before your beloved full of reverence but without any of the distance that usually implies??? his complete undramatic certainty and calm in every scene with rook after this, having spent the whole game caught between fear and longing???? mr. lives in a pantry but it says nothing about my psyche don't worry about it it's purely for tactical reasons that I keep myself contained in a small dark room not entirely unlike a cell, love among the parsnips -- finally coming to rook in their room and it's so comfortable and comforting???? after all the times rook supports and comforts him through the game he's finally able to return the same to them when they need it while being so calm and steady and it's so fucking sweet and feels so effortless and with no price attached?????? he basically assigns himself the role of your bodyguard and he WILL stab a god over it??????????????? the turn to protector (which was in his heart all along longing to get out and find a place) of it all????? he sounds like he's found himself unexpectedly stumbling into such a soul-lightening state of revelatory existential relief, full on 'you only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves' mary oliver style, and he goes and he shares that with rook and protectively envelops them in it when they're hurting??????????????????????????? hello for the maker's sake hello can anyone hear me?????

2012 Leo didn’t have friends

Truly think about it, did Leo actually have friends that he could call his own? Yes, he’s close with April, gets along with Casey, and respects Slash along with many other characters, but does he actually have a true friend(s)? Someone he can banter with and have a true connection and mutual bond with. And no, his dad does not count.

Compare Leo’s social life to his brothers:

Mikey has Ice Cream Kitty, Leatherhead, Mondo Gecko, Renet, Napoleon, and Sal Commander.

Donnie has April, Fugitoid, Metalhead, Dr Cluckingsworth, and Timothy.

Raph has Casey, Slash, Mona Lisa, Chompy and I’ll even count the rooftop pigeons.

Who does Leo got as friends? His sister and her witch girlfriend. That seems about it for him.

Joking aside, I feel Leo not really having his own friends really shows a lot regarding his character and how the roll of being leader and later on Sensai has effected his social life. Not to mention how the fandom can easily identify who each of the other Turtles best friends are, but for Leo we usually draw a blank.

Yes, Leo does have people close to him, I never will disregard his relationship with his brothers or April and Casey, but overall he never got that true special friendship connection that the others got in the series.

The closest we ever got to him having that genuine friendship was Chloe, the little girl he had a tea party with in season 2, and (maybe) Usagi later in season 5. But again, these were short lived dynamics we never get to see again.

You say "it's ok" while mildly annoyed & not wanting to, so your friends Do The Thing. Then when you hear "hey are you ok man" it's "yeah Im fine just tired" while some part of you is seething at your friends, and yourself, for 'making' you go. Then you come home and wish you weren’t like this. Or maybe that your friends weren’t like this. But at least they're happy!

Meanwhile your friends are consistently making you uncomfortable, unhappy, and resentful because you've told them everything is cool. Because they're your friends, though, and they love you, they'd be horrified at themselves if they knew how hanging out with them made you feel. They WANT you to be comfortable, happy, safe. You prevent them from being ABLE to change their behavior to support you because you "don't want to be a burden". You "don't want to be annoying". And so you rob them of the agency to decide, FOR THEMSELVES, what they are willing to do to help the people they love. You rob them of the ability to *act like your friend* because you would rather silently wish they could read minds. Do you see how toxic that is? How much resentment, how much anger that creates for you? Do you realize your friends can see that growing resentment and that they *don't understand what they are doing wrong*? (Of course they're annoyed when you defer every decision to them! They can tell you're often unhappy with THEIR decisions but are too cowardly to say otherwise!) Do you see how awful that would make your friends feel, if they knew how they were making you feel because you "don't want to be annoying" and didn't TELL THEM?

Healthy love is setting clear boundaries. Healthy love is trying your best to communicate clearly your own wants and needs. Because trust me, you are far more of a burden to people if you are constantly martyring yourself to whatever they want, or worse, if you expect them to read your mind or else resent them forever. TALK to your friends, guys. If they give a damn about you it won't even be a big deal.
