“Hello?” Said the softly accented woman’s voice on the other end of the phone. 

“Hey, Lina, it’s me,” Bucky purred down the line as he propped his feet up on the table in front of him. 

“I am not having phone sex with you right now, my sister is here,” Paulina replied, prompting a flash of excitement as Bucky pictured another gorgeous, European bombshell on the other end of the line. 

“She can join in, you know I don’t mind. There’s plenty of me to go around,” he purred, biting at his bottom lip even though he knew she couldn’t see him. 

“Stop it,” Paulina warned. “You are a terrible, awful man.”

“Oh yeah?” Bucky laughed, “And what are you wearing?”

“A bright orange clown costume,” she replied, after which Bucky heard her lower the phone, the line going quiet for a moment as he heard a flurry of what he assumed was Polish followed by a peal of laughter before she returned to the line. 

“Kinky,” he said with a smile, “I can dig it. You and your boyfriend still on a break?” 

“I dumped him for being a reckless asshole, yes.”

“He been drag racing again?”

“Mmm hmm.”

“Naughty boy, and you’re not gonna take him back today?”

“No, I think I am going to make him squirm for at least another week,” she replied. Bucky could hear her smile down the phone. Damn, she was quite a girl. Beautiful women were often like that, he had found. So cold, so cruel, and oh how he loved them for it.

“Perfect, so I can take you out tonight? Your sister is welcome too.”

“Karolina is engaged.”

“Too bad, so you’ll meet me at eight? Usual place? I’ll even throw in a couple of vodkas,” he said, teasing. She was going to say yes, if she wasn’t then she would have hung up ages ago. They had done this same dance many times before and somehow it never lost its charm. “Heck, bring Pavel if you’ve changed your mind and taken him back. I was gonna call him next anyway.”

“He would kill you,” she laughed. Her laugh was a sharp, tinkling thing that contained just enough ridicule to have his cock stirring in his boxers.

“Even better.”

“Alright, crazy man. I’ll see you there,” Paulina said before promptly hanging up, leaving Bucky smiling to himself as he watched the traffic out the kitchen window.

Better in that we finally get a good “conclusion” to Egghead Kizaru and where he truly stands emotionally. We finally take a peak behind the poker face and it’s devastating.

Not gonna lie. When he called Vegapunk his best friend, it changed my brain chemistry. I know I’ve drawn them hanging out and made my fun headcanon posts, but I never deluded myself into thinking they were actually that close. And now…. It’s true.

And damn it hurts to know how much he did care and how much it ruined him.

I’m excited to see where his story goes and I’ve got some ideas brewing on future content, but for now, after I post my animation, I think I’ll take a short break to calm down from these emotions cause I’ve been quite anguished over that chapter.
