Caffeinated Jonny is somehow worse than drunk Jonny, so the coffee beans are kept hidden. I think Ashes drinks a lot of black coffee though, I can ask them!

No I do not get poising from my blood though it does still cause difficulties.

My working theory is the mechanisms consistent of nano bots and that is how the connection works.

“So! Here we are!” Marius said, strolling down the ramp of the Aurora and gesturing dramatically. When he reached the bottom, he paused, slowly spinning, taking everything in. “Your first alien planet!”

They’d landed in a clearing of a forest, trees stretching up above them, twigs cracking beneath his feet. “I think the path is that way,” he called back up the ramp, pointing.

Marius' eyes widened slightly as he recieved the message, a mischeivious grin spreading across his face as he read. He leapt to his feet and raced across the ship, alerting the others, and waved the coordinates in Brian's face excitedly.

"Marius- what-" Brian asked, pushing the device back to a distance he could comfortably read.

"We're going on an adventure! To rescue someone, so you're morally obligated to help me!" Marius said a little too loudly.

"Okay, okay, one moment," Brian replied, setting the course.

Marius bounced his leg and fiddled with his hands, his whole body vibrating slightly with a barely contained nervous energy. A new friend! He hadn't had one of those in a very long time, and now they could finally meet!

"What's Going On, Old Chaps?" the Toy Soldier asked, poking its head around the doorway.

"We're going to rescue Marius' mortal friend," Brian said, sighing resignedly.

"Excellent! I Hope It Will Be Jolly Good Fun!"

At some point Nastya had joined them, leaning against the wall, her expression unreadable as her eyes scanned the display. "Ze is held captive by a computer interface, yes?" she asked in a thick Sprussian accent. Marius nodded. "Then I will come with you." Her tone brooked no argument, and Marius beamed.

Tim emerged, carrying an armful of guns. "Will there be violence?" he asked excitedly.

"Oh, yes, I very much think so!" Marius replied.

"I'm in!" Tim cried, depositing his guns on the floor as he began to sort through them, deciding which one to use.

Marius quickly typed out a message to Nick.

"We're on our way!"

Thoughts were roaming in Nick’s head at the light speed as usual, most of them were, of course, about the Mechanisms, but one in particular was lingering for a long time now.

The thought about the possibility of his rescue, of zir freedom from The System, maybe even from The Academy itself.

Nick felt, - well, as much as it was possible now, - his humanity slipping away, no matter how hard he tried to grasp it, to make it stay. He always had complicated relationships with his humanity before this whole situation. The Academy did a great job at making almost non-stop workers, with no real payment, no holidays and little to no private life. The bad socialization of Nick ever since his childhood didn’t help in understanding other humans from a perspective of another human being - himself. So for The Academy ze was a perfect worker: no distractions such as friends, family, love. Ze’s special interest was always research and medicine and the intensity of zir hyperfixation and hyperfocus during them were unmatched.

But now it’s different. Now Nick knows what having someone to talk to feels like. How positive attention to his life feels like. How friendship, - at least what he thought it was, - feels. The last one got him back to the topic he started from - rescue.

Baron Marius Von Raum did say that they are ready at any time now. It was a chance, an opportunity to get away from The System but what will happen next, if they help him and is there a way to get innocent people to safety? Nick didn’t want for his colleagues or service personal or just ordinary people at the surface to die, no, no way. And what will happen to Nick? Will ze be a “toy” for the Doctor or there is a nice future for him? He didn’t know and wasn’t sure he wanted to know, he just wants to get away from here, even if he will die in the process. It’s a way to get out too, afterall.

“Hello, Doctor! Found a way to message you directly. I think I’m ready. I figured out how I can try to get as many ordinary people to safety as I can but when I will send a message to the devices I’m not sure that the superiors won’t notice and won’t try to do something. So I think there is a possibility of a time limit. And one more thing. You can't just detach the surroundings, it will cause irreparable damage. It will also have the same end if you just shut down everything. In my theory, it's only possible to carefully discontinue the links from the body. And the last thing - the body is on the second floor from the surface. Inform me when I can start. Thank you.”
