▷ Pairing: Miya Atsumu x Reader
▷ Word Count: ~900
▷ Warnings: None! This is just cute and fun!!
▷ a/n: i mentioned this one night on anon to @sugawalmartwobble and since then, the idea has been stuck in my head. so! here is a cute fall date with Atsumu! this was a nice little break from working on the requests (which i am working on, i promise you). Also sorry to those tagged for the spam, i reposted this cause it wasnt showing up in tags some reason :/
Fall brought cooler temperatures, earlier sunsets, and even more fall date ideas that Miya Atsumu was more than delighted to take you on. One early morning in the middle of October, you sat passenger in his truck, one hand resting on the wheel while the other was on your thigh, placing a gentle squeeze every so often.
He had planned out the morning with you to be an eventful one-picking your own pumpkin for carving. The minute he told you of the activities, your eyes lit up and you both counted the days down until then.

As the two of you walked the rows of pumpkins, you looked for the perfect pumpkin. The breeze brought a slight chill, leaving you to walk a little closer to him. Even though you had dressed in jeans and a sweater, the wind held a bite. He simply laughed as he took your hand, placing a kiss to the top of your head.
When the two of you came up to a patch that was full of bright orange gourds, you let go of his hand, beginning your search. He found a small, round one that had a slightly flattened side and held it up for you to see.
“Y/n! What about this one? It’s cute and small, but the side is a little flat.” He mused as you approached, taking the pumpkin from him to appraise it.
With a small hum, you handed it back. “It would be a good one to decorate with, but not to carve, ‘Tsumu!”
“Are you sure? This could be good to carve too! Why are you being so particular about it?”
“Because I want the perfect one. Something that is easy to carve on, has a nice orange to it, and is maybe… This big.” You gestured vaguely the size you were looking for, brows furrowed as you did so before looking to Atsumu.
He simply nodded with a smile. Even while being so particular about what pumpkin you would inevitably gut and turn into a work of art. Still, he was absolutely head over heels for you. Returning the pumpkin to the ground once more, he stood back and watched as you navigated your way across the field, moving a few feet away from him.
He began to get lost in thought, musing about the rest of the night, from carving the pumpkin to cuddling and watching scary movies on his couch-his thoughts were full of you.
When he heard you gasp, he shook his head, bringing himself back to the real world, his eyebrows rising in concern as he looked you over. “What’s wrong? You okay?”
“It’s… It’s so perfect! And pretty. Look, ‘Tusmu!” You squealed, holding the vibrant gourd up. He let out a small chuckle, a dopey grin spreading across his face as he made his way to you.
Placing a kiss on your forehead, he pulled you closer to him, hand resting on your waist. “Well, it may be pretty, but it isn’t as gourd-ous as you.”
Furrowing your brows, you looked up to him, confusion written on your face. “But… It is a gourd. Do you not see how pretty it is!” Even when he was trying to be smooth, it seemed to backfire, the pick-up line going right over your head.
“No, Y/n, you… God I love you so much, but I was trying to be smooth!” There was a hint of pink to his cheeks that was not from the cold, but from embarrassment. Once again, his joke has fallen flat. “I was trying to tell you that even though that gourd is pretty, you’re gorgeous.”
He watched as your eyes widened slightly, lips curling in a smile as you let out a laugh, hiding your face in his shoulder. “You-oh my god I’m so dumb! That was also a terrible pun, so maybe that’s why it went over my head.”
With a snort, he placed another kiss to the top of your head. “All my puns are not terrible; I like to think they are actually very good! Omi-kun thinks so too!” To that, you laughed, looking up at him with warm cheeks. “Keep telling yourself that. Just because he grumbles every time you tell one does not mean they are good. That usually means they are bad.”
“But that means it’s good! When a pun is so good someone groans? That is the highest form of flattery.”
You just laughed as you turned to place a kiss on his lips before holding up the pumpkin, to which he took from you, claiming you needed to find another for him to carve. For the next thirty minutes, you searched, finding one that was identical to the one you had picked for yourself. Little did you know, he had snapped a couple of photos of you, lost in your own game of finding pumpkins.
The rest of the day was spent how he thought- curled up on the couch watching movies (you had begged him to not watch scary movies), leaving you to fall asleep partway through one, him holding you as you both napped on the couch.
By the time the sun was sinking below the horizon, the two of you sat at his table, covered in cut up trash bags and newspapers, carving the pumpkins the two of you had found. When they were sat outside, they were sat on either side of the door, the first pumpkin he had picked placed by his carved one. All three a physical reminder to the first of many fall dates the two of you would experience.
