Speaking of mobility, I visit the San Antonio Zoo often.

it's mostly fine to get around, but there are some hills that are hard to navigate. we went recently and my mom had to help someone push a wheelchair up a particularly steep hill. (around the Africa Live exhibits and the australian animal exhibits, if you've been there)

i always wonder how those kinds of things could be made more accessible. do you know of any zoos who've had the same kind of issues and have made them better?

I definitely remember the hills near Africa at San Antonio - there’s a spot on the path that’s so steep there were metal traction pads bolted to the concrete! IIRC there’s a second option that’s wheelchair accessible (technically), but I’m guessing it’s where you’re talking about needing help.

I don’t actually know a ton about how spots like that can be updated, without having to repath an entire section. It’s something I’ve only been paying attention to in recent years, so I haven’t been around long enough to see a lot of renovations that address that issue. I’d love it if zoo staff or folk who’ve seen their local facilities fix issues like this could chime in!

I am seeing more and more facilities with signage highlighting ADA accessible routes, which great. I just wish more of them had it on the map, rather than just in person.

Healing looks different for everyone. It’s absolutely possible to heal with DID, and to recover. For some, and maybe this is what you’re asking, that’s final fusion — you can fuse into one single part of one single whole, working together seamlessly. Maybe you’ll go the route I’ve been working on, functional multiplicity, working together while still being separate. Maybe recovery will be different.

You’re always going to have DID, though.

DID — the trauma that causes it and the way your brain develops from having it — changes you. It changes the layout of your brain, it changes the way you process things. That can never go away, not completely — but you can repath your brain with hard work and a dedication to healing. You can recover.

It’s part of why I like the puzzle metaphor. Even when you put a puzzle together, and you make a picture, you still have individual pieces. The puzzle is still a puzzle. Even if you fuse all the pieces together — glue them together, tape them down, put them in a frame, whatever — you can still see the lines of the pieces together.

Those lines don’t ever go away. Look hard at the puzzle and you can usually identify the pieces. But you can choose to start focusing on the picture instead. You can choose to view your puzzle as not fucked up — just… a currently incomplete picture.

You aren’t fucked up, anon. You’re a system. I wish you luck in your recovery.

Wkit decided out of the blue the other day it was gonna just yeet a bunch of components in my custom Dino when I was going to edit an appearance.... Just threw me a ton of errors and hashes out of no where on appearances I never even touched. I don't know what happened. It just imploded.

Originally I was like, ah what ever... I needed to remake him anyway cuz that build was a mess and one of my first projects, so not much was custom pathed, files were not organized at all. The clear, I'm learning as I go type of mess.

Well the restart has been far from smooth. I've been trying all day to figure out and fix a crash on spawn issue and when I tell you I've been checking EVERYTHING I can possibly think of and I could not fix it...

I was swapping ents, redoing luas, grabbing new apps, repathing everything.... I started to load in a single mesh at a time to try to narrow it down. Thought I found it, but replacing the one I thought was responsible with the completely vanilla version that had previously worked the try before.... It didn't bring it back. So I don't know wtf is going on but I'm getting increasingly irritated.

This is like what happened with that attempt at a MB npc build. I still don't know wtf happened with that and why it went from working fine to entirely fucked and non recoverable in the same way no matter what I do.

I don't know if I keep getting bugged out versions of wkit or what...

Okay cuz of how gameobject dot find works, I only needed to repath like... a couple dozen references in the script, and everything still like. works.

Now I just need to rip out a bunch of VERY stupid stuff but I haven't thought that far ahead yet and the sunbeam is coming for me, so that's enough progress for today.
