SummerTime Melancholy ~ The Night Flowers I Look Up At With You
Tumblr media
Giotto's Scenario
Chapter 1 ( 1 - 2 - 3 )
(1/5)
Giotto: Oh no, I only got a few days 'til the eventā€¦
(It's an event sponsored by a salon I often deal with. I wanna do what I'm asked to, but I wanna do it well.)
I think itā€™s ā€˜cause of the quantity, since new pieces are brought in every day.
(The sales pitch for this painting contest is that a critique by a working artist must be attached to each entry.)
It's nice to see so many aspiring young painters out there. I wanna go straight to that enthusiasm.
(However, no matter how many days go by, the number of entries that have yet to be judged is still a problemā€¦)
I wonder if I'm spendin' too much time judgin' one workā€¦
(But a critique that only points out the obvious might nip young sprouts in the bud. I wanna praise and develop their good points.)
ā€“In this work, the rough sketch is somethinā€™ to work on, but the colors are nice and the themeā€™s originalā€¦ Also, ohā€“
Salon owner: Hey, Giotto. I came to check on you. Howā€™s it going? Howā€™s the worksā€™ review proceeding?
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(2/5)
Giotto: Ah, greetingsā€¦
Salon owner: Wait, you're not done at all! What's this all about? This isā€¦
Just a quick glance at the work and a quick comment! You're a successful artist, you can do it, right?
Giotto: Right, but a coarse critique could nip young sprouts in the budā€¦ I wanna develop the good points of the artist through their painting. They can draw this much now. If they continue like this, they'll get better. And yet, I can't let my critique cause ā€˜em to break their brushā€“
Salon owner: Hey hey, what are you talking about! More entries will be coming in the future, you know? I don't want you to spend so much time on one that you wonā€™t be able to look at the others! Everyone is waiting for your critiques.
Giotto: H-Huuhā€¦
(... W-Will there be more of ā€˜em?)
Salon owner: Now that you understand, Iā€™ll ask you to do it more quickly next time! I'll be back to check up on you!
Giotto: ā€¦ I'll try my best.
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(3/5)
Giotto: (Nothin' decreases as the days go by, only work tasks pile up.)
ā€“I wanna paint a pictureā€¦ How long haven't I been paintinā€™?
(As an artist, I'm happy to be in the public eye and to be relied upon. However, I feel like Iā€™m forgettinā€™ myself as a painter. I need some time to face myself.)
I serve as a judge for competitions and show up at various painting events. I wonder if I will be able to go easy on my job soonā€¦
Salon owner: ā€“Giotto, is this a good time?
Giotto: Ah, yes?
(Ugh. I'm afraid I'm gonna get another scolding 'bout the progress of the critique.)
If itā€™s 'bout the reviews, I'm still workinā€™ on 'emā€“
Salon owner: No, that's not what Iā€™m talking about today. I need you to perform at the noon part of the event.
Giotto: Ya mean the live painting?
Salon owner: Exactly. There will be a fireworks display at night, but I'd like a successful painter like you to make the noon session a great success. I've also asked you to be a judge for the painting competition, so itā€™s just right, yeah?
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(4/5)
Giotto: Iā€™m sorry, but I have other work to do as well, so Iā€“
Salon owner: Huh!? Don't tell me you're going to turn it down!? I thought you would've accepted the offer without a second thoughtā€¦ I've also asked Raffaello to be your live painting partner.
Giotto: Raffaello?
(That guy also shows up in a lot of places, it must be tough for himā€¦)
Salon owner: Well, don't be in such a hurry to give me an answer. You have a day to think about it.
Giotto: H-Huhā€¦
Salon owner: I expect to hear a positive answer the next time I come back. Well thenā€¦
Giotto: (Even if he told me to think ā€˜bout it, what can I do?)
Hmmā€¦ Iā€™m planninā€™ on turninā€™ it down, maybe I should consult with Raffaello directly?
(It sounds like he's been gettin' calls from everywhere, maybe he can give me advice with a similar situation.)
For now, Iā€™ll just get todayā€™s work done. Iā€™m gonna make it in time for the event!
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(5/5)
Raffaello: ā€¦ Sigh.
Giotto: Raffaellooo, ya there?
Raffaello: ! Giotto-san, welcome. Do you need something from me?
Giotto: Yeah. Iā€™ve got somethin' I need to talk to ya ā€˜bout, can ya spare me some time?
Raffaello: You want to talk to me? ā€¦ Actuallyā€“ no.
Giotto: Oh? Whatā€™s wrong?
(Somethin' seems off here. Could it be something's botherin' Raffaello too?)
Whatā€™s troublin' ya? If you've got somethin' stuck in your chest, I'm here to listen!
Raffaello: Ah, wellā€¦ That is right. I do not feel comfortable talking about it here, so can we go somewhere else?
Giotto: Oh? Yeah, fine for me. I'd also appreciate it if we could sit back and relax, instead of standin' around. Since weā€™re here, why don't we go out for a drink?
Raffaello: Yes, that would be nice. Then, how about the bar?
Giotto: Okay. Then I'll look for a place and make a reservation for a table. Why don't we meet up directly at the bar?
Raffaello: Of course. Then, the timeā€“

Giotto's Scenario
Chapter 2 ( 1 - 2 - 3 )
(1/5)
Clerk: Welcome.
Giotto: It's Bondone, who had a reservation at the back of the room. My companion will come later.
Clerk: Yes, sir. I will show you to your seats.
ā€¦ ā€¦ ā€¦
Raffaello: ā€“Giotto-san, sorry Iā€™m late.
Giotto: Raffaello! I've been waitin' for a loong time~
Raffaello: My apologiesā€¦
Giotto: No no, I'm just kiddin'! I just got here too! See, I only ordered a drink!
(That guy, he's got a lot on his mind, huh? What happenedā€¦)
Raffaello: ā€“What did you want to talk about in the atelier, Giotto-san? Let me hear that first.
Giotto: Oh, right. Thereā€™s gonna be an event in the near future sponsored by the salon Kuroda regularly deals with, right? I was asked by my superior to participate in the live painting for the event. I was told he asked ya to be my partner, is that true?
Raffaello: I was told that too. ā€¦ I see, so you were talking about the live painting.
Actually, I have a problem with that too.
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(2/5)
Giotto: You're also wonderin' ā€˜bout participatin' in the live painting?
Raffaello: It is justā€¦ How should I put it?
Giotto: Ah, I rushed the conversation. My bad.
First of all, ya need to drink. Ya need to have a moist throat to talk. Itā€™ll be better for ya to get ready to talk.
Raffaello: Thank youā€¦
ā€¦ ā€¦ ā€¦
Giotto: ā€“Cā€™mon, Raffaello. Ya can order for more.
Raffaello: No, thank you. If I drink too much, I will get off track from what I want to talk about. I have had enough.
Giotto: Ya sure of that?
Raffaello: Yes.
ā€¦ So, this is just a rumor, so I am not sure if it is true or not. But I heard that Ingres-kun was banned from the salon.
Giotto: Ingres? Why him againā€¦
Raffaello: I think he caused a violent incident.
Giotto: A violent incident, ya say?
Raffaello: Yesā€“ Ah, this is my fault. Because I made a fool like me his mentor, even if only temporarily. I was not able to guide Ingres-kun properly as a painterā€¦!
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(3/5)
Giotto: It's not your fault, you know, Raffaello?
Raffaello: But I have not seen Ingres-kun since I heard that rumor. I feel like he adored me a lot before that. I think he also had some thoughts on my teachings. Because of a teacher like that, oh God.
Giotto: Did ya hear that from Ingres himself?
Raffaello: I cannot confirm that with him. First of all, I do not even know where he is.
Giotto: But that doesn't mean youā€¦
Raffaello: And then, I wonderā€¦ I could not even draw a picture for some reason. Maybe I am no longer a good artist.
I do not think I would do well if I took on live painting in this condition.
Giotto: (He blames himself and sees everythin' in a negative light. Thatā€™s a bad tendency. If I don't do somethin', he's gonna break his brush. Before that happens, before his mind crushes, I must do somethinā€™ā€“)
Hey, Raffaello!
Raffaello: ā€¦ What?
Giotto: Join me in turninā€™ down the live painting request!
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(4/5)
Giotto: (Raffaello thinks Ingres failed ā€˜cause of him. If I had been the perfect teacher, the one who could paint the perfect picture... I wouldā€™ve been able to guide the young talents well. Goinā€™ to live paintinā€™ in such a state would be like poisoninā€™ yourself.
Raffaello: Turning down the live painting request?
Giotto: Raffaello. We're artists. Whether itā€™s to resolve our problems or face ourselves, ainā€™t paintinā€™ supposed to be indispensable for living creatures like us?
So I came up with a great idea. And I want ya to go along with it.
Raffaello: Me?
Giotto: On the day of the event, why don't we do some live painting, just the two of us?
Raffaello: Live painting, just the two of us?
Giotto: Of course, it ainā€™t the kinda thing you'd bring in guests for. It's just us painting live. Itā€™ll just be us doing live painting.
As people gather at the event site, the remote areas should be quieter. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up the brush in that distant place, unbound and unburdened by anythinā€™, would it?
Raffaello: ā€¦ Fufu, it surely would be nice and easy-going.
Giotto: Right?
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(5/5)
Raffaello: However, for me painting isā€¦
Giotto: Ya don't gotta try to finish it. Thatā€™s the kinda distraction it should be.
Raffaello: I see.
ā€“I want to paint a picture.
Giotto: Me too.
Raffaello: Alright. Let us do it, just the two of us.
Giotto: Aight, then itā€™s a deal!
ā€¦ ā€¦ ā€¦
Giotto: Okay, today I gotta write critiques to the rest of the paintings. I'd like to get it done as soon as possible before my boss comes to check on meā€“
Salon owner: Good morning, Giotto. Let me ask this immediately, you'll take care of the live painting, right?
Giotto: Ahā€¦ My apologies, but I was thinkinā€™ of turninā€™ it down.
Salon owner: What!? Even Raffaello said no, and now you too!?
Giotto: I'm sorry. I'll do a good job with the critiques for the competitionā€¦
Salon owner: Iā€™m asking you to be really brisky with that, please! I'll be back to check on you!
Giotto: (... Even though it was my decision, itā€™s still hard not to, letā€™s say, ā€œlive upā€ to peopleā€™s expectationsā€¦)
Even so, I feel like Iā€™ll be able to open up somethinā€™ thanks to the live painting with Raffaello.
Aight, Iā€™ll do my best!

SummerTime Melancholy ~ The Night Flowers I Look Up At With You

Giotto's Scenario
Chapter 3 ( 1 - 2 - 3 )
(1/5)
Giotto: We're gonna do some live paintinā€™ in this park today.
Raffaello: ā€¦ Seriously here? Because parents and their children often come here.
Giotto: It'll be fine. We're far away from the event venue. Plus cā€™mon, take a good look ā€˜round us. As ya can see, thereā€™s not a soul in sight, even if itā€™s noon. Itā€™s so quiet that even cats can comfortably sleep.
Have ya ever done live paintinā€™ in the middle of nowhere? I haven't!
Raffaello: Fufu, neither have I. There was always someone watching me.
Giotto: Compared to the usual, today feels pretty easy-going, ainā€™t it right?
Raffaello: This is my first time doing anything like this.
Giotto: Hahaha, I know, right!
Raffaello: Okay, I think I am starting to enjoy it a little.
Giotto: Oh, youā€™re lookinā€™ good! I'm lookin' forward to it too!
ā€“Okay, you've made up your mind, right?
Raffaello: Yes, let's just do it.
Giotto: Aight, let's get started!
Raffaello: Right!
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(2/5)
Raffaello: ā€“Hey you, the cat over there! Go back to sleep! Don't move at all!
Cat: Unya!?
Giotto: Oh!?
Raffaello: The shading of your fur, the marbling of your paw pads. Until Iā€™ve carved them perfectly on this canvas!
Giotto: (The force Raffaello has when using his brush is truly terrificā€¦ It took me by surprise.)
Cat: Meoow~
Giotto: He must be a very experienced model if he can go back to sleep again~
Raffaello: Giotto!
Giotto: Yeah!?
Raffaello: You're off to a slow start! This is our live painting, right!?
Iā€™ll end up finishing the painting all by myself! Does that satisfy you!?
Giotto: ! No way! I'm not gonna let ya have all the fun! Count me in as well!
Raffaello: That's better!
ā€¦ ā€¦ ā€¦
Raffaello: ā€“Ugh, with this result, it would score about 60 pointsā€¦!
Giotto: Hey hey, no one's watchin' today. There's no need to bring somethinā€™ ya can call "perfect" to the end.
For us, this live paintingā€™sā€¦ a distraction, so to speak. It's not our goal to be evaluated.
Raffaello: ! ā€¦ Aaah, thatā€™s right!
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(3/5)
Giotto: Haah, haahā€¦
Raffaello: The picture, the picture's doneā€¦
Giotto: Now, let's take our time to look at the paintings. Though it might be hard to see in this darknessā€¦
Raffaello, Iā€™ll take care of your brush now.
Raffaello: Ah. ā€¦ Sorry, I must have done it again.
Giotto: Don't worry 'bout it. So, how ya feelin' now?
Raffaello: ā€“Recently, I have been putting down the brush halfway through a painting, but I was able to finish it for the first time in a long time. I owe it to you, Giotto-san. Thank you.
Giotto: Not at all, weā€™re in the same boat. Thanks to ya keepinā€™ me company me, I was also able to paint a picture for the first time in a while.
Aaah, but time flies when you're paintinā€™, doesn't it?
Raffaello: I was surprised to see that the sun had completely set.
Giotto: Aaaah, I'm tireeeed~ It's a nice feelinā€™ of satisfaction.
Raffaello: Ah. If you lay on the ground as it is, your clothes will get dirty.
Giotto: Iā€™ve been paintinā€™ like crazy that Iā€™m already covered in paint. We both are.
Raffaello: That, too, is right. ā€¦ I will sit next to you.
Giotto: Okay.
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(4/5)
Raffaello: ā€¦ You said that "painters needs to paint to face themselves". Perhaps it is like you said, Giotto-sanā€¦ Today's live painting was a lot of fun. To be honest, when I look at the finished product, I have many thoughts about it, but... I think this is who I am now.
Giotto: Haha. No way, I was thinkin' the same thing.
(It was nice to sell well as a painter and get the publicā€™s attention, but that increased the amount of work that came in. Gradually, I could no longer find the time to face my paintings.)
(Both Raffaello and I were finally able to do that today. It was a nice distraction.)
Raffaello: Did something similar bother you too, Giotto-san?
Giotto: No, it's nothinā€™. I just thought we might be a lot alike.
Raffaello: You and I?
Giotto: Hahaha.
ā€“Oh? Ya heard any noise, Raffaello?
Raffaello: A noise? ā€¦ Ah, you are right. It is like something poppingā€¦
Giotto: Ah. Again.
Raffaello: Could this be the sound of fireworks?
āœ¦ā€¢ā”ˆą¹‘ā‹…ā‹Æ ā‹Æā‹…ą¹‘ā”ˆā€¢āœ¦
(5/5)
Giotto: I see. So the evening part of the event has begun.
Raffaello: Yes, it was a fireworks display.
Giotto: Hmmm, unfortunately, the buildingā€™s in the way, so I can't see the fireworks. I can only hear their sound.
Itā€™s ā€˜cause I avoided the area near the venue. I'll hear about it later from those who went.
Raffaello: Fufu, is everyone having fun, I wonder?
Giotto: ā€“Hey, Raffaello. I'm sure Ingres is also watchin' the fireworks somewhere.
Raffaello: ā€¦
Giotto: Just like ya, he hasn't stopped paintin'.
Raffaello: Youā€¦ think so?
Giotto: Yeah. So ya keep goinā€™, keep shininā€™ like those fireworks, and Ingres will look at you. You, whoā€™s an artist.
Well, it might be a lilā€™ less convincing ā€˜cause I can't see the fireworks from hereā€¦
Raffaello: Fufu, well, you are right. You cannot see them from here. But even if you cannot see them, you know they are fireworks just from the sound. Like that, I will be myself. I will continue to paint for me.
Giotto: Yeah, that's right!
~ End. ~

Got any requests?
Tumblr media
Small reminder that this blog's inbox is open for a lot of stuff! Whether you have a request for a certain translation, some remarks about certain translations, questions about the translated stories, the characters, the Palette Parade universe or in general, you're free to send us anything! So don't be shy (or if you are, the anonymous button is there for you ;>), we don't bite here!
About requests
You're free to request a lot of stuff. If you're interested in a certain character's card stories, in a certain event, certain convos or anything else, don't be afraid to put it in our requests and I'll work on it when I can!
Here's all the stuff you can request:
ā€¢card stories
ā€¢conversations (divided in main menu comversations and room conversations)
ā€¢production stories
ā€¢room stories
ā€¢events (both Palepare and Reparade)
ā€¢character's "special columns" (I don't really know how to name these, but sometimes they posted on twitter stuff where certain characters talked to other characters, eg: Watteau read tarots for everybody) (see the heads up section for the options)
ā€¢limited voicelines (based on the four seasons or certain festivities, see the heads up section for the options)
ā€¢if there's stuff I missed but you still want to request, feel free to!
Just a few heads up under the cut~
-always check the masterlist before requesting anything. If you don't check and you ask for something that has been already translated no worries, I'll just tell you where to look in the masterlist
-do not request anything about the main story. As I said, the main story will be something I'll focus on when I'll have time and a lot of my work will be done (tl: most of the characters card stories will be translated). Same goes for Reparade main story. Requesting events is okay, since they're shorter
-for card stories, it is better if you request a character rather than a singular card story. My work goes from character to character, so that I can release everything all at once
-character "special columns" posts will be posted all together, since they're multiple posts for a single "special column". Options are:
ā€¢Atelier's Kitchen (Hubert + Millet)
ā€¢Watteau-san's Whimsical Fortune-telling (Watteau)
ā€¢Giotto's Fight Confessional (Giotto)
ā€¢Relaxing Tea Time (Hiroshige)
ā€¢Munch's Niko-chan Translation Class (Munch + El Greco)
ā€¢Michelangelo's Muscle Competition (Michelangelo)
ā€¢Help me, Bazille-sensei! (Bazille)
ā€¢Rubens' Fashion Lesson (Rubens)
-limited voicelines include voicelines related to seasons and festivities/seasonal events voicelines. For the latters, these include:
-Halloween Eve
-Halloween
-Christmas Eve
-Christmas
-New Year's Eve
-New Year
-Tanabata
-Rainy season
-April Fools
-[Player]'s birthday
-Valentine's Day
-White Day
