It wasn't really until I started writing the Salvage rewrite that I grew an appreciation for Soul. As a younger reader, I just never really got the existential dread he was going through since so many other characters had these larger than life personalities.

Howdy! I know this is late, but I sadly got busy during this month, but I still wanted to participate in this! I wanted to make sure I at least did this day's prompt (it is all I had time for and we are not gonna discuss the fact that I originally planned on drawing the entire scene...but I did not have the time or brain power for that....sorry!!)

(if anyone will let me, I will scream about this entire scene for hours on end so of course I had to draw it)

Finally had some free time to do one of the Soultember days from @rennikun’s soultember prompts!! Today’s prompt was witch 🧙🏻‍♀️

It was no secret between the Spartoi members that Shibusen kept a secret vault containing the more scandalous parts of the school’s history from being leaked to the public. Maka had heard scandals on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, with things as asinine as her papa pouring school money into Chupacabra’s renovations to more substantial issues like Lord Death pardoning a mad doctor who’d been toying around with innocent souls.

Maka tried to not flinch everytime she heard the sound of muffled talking outside of the decrepit stone brickwork which made up the walls of the vault. Her fingers couldn’t help but scrape through the cracks of the bookshelves she passed before her eyes settled upon a large manila folder with the name Bushida scribbled upon it with a red marker.

It didn’t take long for the young woman to grab the file down and plop onto the cold floor as her jittery hands opened the folder.

At first, Maka only saw a few pictures of her mama from when she still lived in Death City and a few lines of notes scribbled on a yellowed sheet of paper.

However, a more thorough glance at the papers slowly solidified her intuition.

She now had clear evidence that her mama was a witch.

I was inspired to do a full madness black blood dress after looking at the sheer dresses in dior's collection. I didn't quite nail the colors to give the sheer look I wanted to, but I got pretty close.

@rennikun's Soultember prompt 1: Death Scythe

Finally on the verge of becoming a death scythe, Soul in this reality instead eats the soul of the villainous witch Medusa, however upon doing so he inherits all of the snakes that had made up her body. Due to the uncertainty of how it would affect him, he was disallowed from completing the process to becoming a full-fledged death scythe, although Lord Death has not attempted to remove her soul from him either as it would probably rip his entire being to shreds.

While he picked up some of her mannerisms, he's still Soul through and through – Only schemes he's plotted is how best to procrastinate and lazing under the sun. Many are still wary of him but the control he's gained over the snakes seems to be all his, including the independent "tattoo" snakes that have taken to guarding around the scar across his chest.

Don't mind the little Soul in the corner; the two of them are often seen hanging around each other.
