I know that Neil said that if prime didn't pick up Good Omens for a 3rd season, he'd still put out the remaining story in a different medium, which would still be amazing, but I have become so attached to David as Crowley and Michael as Aziraphale and it would low-key destroy me to not get to see it unfold onscreen. Not to mention, as a long time queer media enthusiast, I've read lots of queer things because it's been nearly all we've had until now... I want to see them with my own eyes.

if i see ANYONE hating on aziraphale it’s on SIGHT!! aziraphale didn’t chose heaven over crowley!!! his first thought was to bring crowley with him! aziraphale loves crowley just as much as crowley loves him and you can SEE how painful it is for him to leave crowley behind. did aziraphale make a massive mistake? absolutely. do i want to smack some sense into him and tell him to go running back to his husband? yes. but more than anything i want to wrap him in a HUG and tell him that he is so much more than heaven. some of you guys don’t understand religious trauma. how deeply it warps your perception of the world and the decisions you make. how when it shatters a person, and putting the pieces back together isn’t simple, straightforward, or completely linear!! no healing is! i was raised in the church, haven’t believed for five years, and still sometimes worry if they’re right, if i am going to hell for leaving, if there is something deeply, fundamentally wrong with me that returning to god can fix.
does crowley owe it to aziraphale to forgive him? no. but will he? absolutely, 100%. he will be there when aziraphale is ready, because he loves aziraphale more than anything. and aziraphale isn’t ready today, which is heartbreaking for both of them, but he will be. they WILL get their happy ending.

I get it now,
I know why ineffable bureaucracy happened first. I had a realization and it finally makes sense to me.
Tumblr media
The reason why the arch angel fucking Gabriel” was able to put aside his hang ups in the fraction of the time it’s STILL taking Aziraphale is precisely BECAUSE he’s the “arch angel fucking Gabriel”. It’s not about who is more willing to embrace the trappings of humanity and all the beautiful shades of grey it holds enough to put differences aside, it’s about privilege.
Gabriel has never had to fear what aziraphale has even in supposedly the “same” circumstances. He can meet with Beelzebub face to face, converse and even flirt with them as freely as he pleases. There is no demeanor of caution in their sequence what so ever. And why would there be? They’re both in the highest position of power actually on the ground floor making decisions. They’re the ones who dole out the punishment, keep those under them in line, and generally have final say on what goes on in their day to day world. I mean who would even be surveilling them?
The seeds of this imbalance were planted in episode 3. Elspheth lacks power by being impoverished, so she quite literally doesn’t have the means to be the best version of herself. Instead of burying her friend and mourning the life lost, in a genuinely unsettling moment, she must jarringly transform the thought of her into just a fresh body. By being with Beelzebub, being kind to them and opening his heart so willingly, Gabriel is able to fully realize his potential, and accomplish the highest virtue there is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
… But love has never been something Aziraphale and Crowley could afford. The price of loving each other isn’t a slap on the wrist and a permanent vacation, it’s fearing for the other’s life everyday. They’re armed to the teeth in fire extinguishers, and Aziraphale would sooner declare war on hell than use holy water in a place Crowley spends a significant amount of time. The memories of how they’ve almost lost each other are ugly, cruel, and terrifying.
They’re both scared and fed up. They want the exact same thing, they just have completely different ideas of how to achieve it. That’s why aziraphale is so excited to “restore” crowley and be in charge of Heaven with him, and so distraught when Crowley hates the idea and refuses. He’s essentially an allegorical cult survivor. His insistence on rejoining Heaven is not a rejection of Crowley’s confession, it’s a reciprocation. Aziraphale is trying to provide, what is in his eyes, the ONLY thing that can possibly allow them the freedom of love, safety, and self autonomy: power.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s as if to say “no actually, we can’t just do that.” Aziraphale truly believes the only way him and Crowley can be safe and together in the current circumstances is if they play by their oppressor’s rules, and to be honest I’m not entirely convinced at all that he’s wrong. I don’t think for a second Metatron intended the offer to be a genuine choice and would’ve left them alone if the answer was no, and even though he is excited by the offer, Aziraphale probably knows this too.

Hello Good Omens fandom - I'm reaching out to you in a plea of fandom solidarity! Please help us!!!
I'm writing on behalf of The Dead Boy Detectives fandom: our show was canceled in its first season, cut off without a care for its dedicated fandom or its insane amount of potential. Yet another queer, diverse, supernatural show suffers an unfair fate and we're bloody sick of it! We believe Netflix and Warner Bros. are making a huge mistake!
Could you guys please sign our petition and help spread it by reblogging?
We're not just trying to get a season 2: we're trying to get justice for the cast, crew, and writers behind this unapologetically queer show. They had the writers write a season 2 just to cancel the show and, frankly, that's objectively a slimy thing to do. I believe Dead Boy Detectives is a casualty of its time, that shows cult-clasic, niche shows like Buffy or Supernatural for instance would suffer the same fate today if held to Netflix's callous and cruel standards and their blatant disregard for creatives.
Lastly, our shows are actually quite similar, and I think if you enjoy Good Omens you would enjoy Dead Boy Detectives as well! Please don't let the cancellation deter you, it really it a phenomenal show that will have you laughing one moment and crying the next. It has so much heart! Please help us save our boys who defy heaven and hell with their love! 💜
Thank you in advance to any of you who sign. Netflix has gotten far too comfortable nuking shows, especially those with queer themes and diverse leading chacters, in their prime. If you sign and share our petition in an act of fandom solidarity please know it means the world to our detective agency and we appreciate you so much!!!💀🔎💜
Tumblr media
Last thing I promise this post is not intended to clog your tag in any way: this will be the only post I make in your tag! I wouldn't want our fandom to bleed into your space! We're just desperate for help and there's so much overlap in our fandoms and shows that it made sense to reach out to you all - I figure the least I can do for the show I love so much is to try. Thank you again 🖤

I hope I only have to say this once, but can we please celebrate the renewal for GO3 for ten minutes without someone asking if ______ is gonna be in it? I know mine is an unpopular opinion (or maybe not but everyone is too afraid to say it out loud), but I don’t want to see anyone’s relatives or significant others in this. Let other actors earn a place on their own merits, please. For the love of Francis McDormand, stop it!

Ok if you're like me and you're procrastinating watching dead boy detectives, I'm here to prompt you to watch it. It's seriously so good, I can take any relationship between characters and yell about it for hours. There's an insane witch who talks about the stretchiness of teen girls skin. Literally every character is so interesting, even the side ones who are only there for one episode. At least three people are canonically in love with a repressed edwardian ghost boy, and they're correct. The boy who fights with basically only a cricket bat is also one of the sweetest characters ever. The woman who walks around with meat cleavers is the closest thing to adult supervision these kids have. You'll want to marry/be best friends with most of the characters and hit the others with your car.

I was reading this great meta by @fuckyeahisawthat about Aziraphale and Crowley metaphorically switching places— from Crowley being the giver of Knowledge and the freedom of choice to humanity and Aziraphale being the protector, by giving humans the flaming sword to Crowley being the protector of humanity and Aziraphale granting knowledge and freedom of choice.
Tumblr media
But this made something click into place for me that I’d been turning over in my mind for a while: what if it’s not just freedom and knowledge and choice for humanity… what if Aziraphale functionally brings freedom and choice and knowledge to everyone!
I mean, one thing I haven’t really seen anyone talking about is the contrast between the portrayal of angels and demons (generally) in S1 and specific angels and demons in S2. The first season really set Heaven and Hell up as full of a lot of characters who had their own quirks and unique aspects, but still functioned very well as cogs in the same type of machine.
Gabriel and Beelzebub are the most obvious examples, since they had the biggest pivot in S2: suddenly it’s not just Aziraphale and Crowley who are the special ones.
Tumblr media
We get to see these two other characters have thoughts and desires and aspirations beyond that of following their angelic/demonic natures or furthering the cause of their respective sides. S2 really humanizes both of these characters who were (in S1) the best real example that we saw of an official representative of the corporate goings-on from each side. God and Satan were there in S1, but in a much less visible way (and even LESS visible in S2).
But even beyond Beez and Gabe, S2 took careful steps to humanize a lot of other ethereal/occult characters as well. We see Michael both confident and shaken, sarcastic and unsure. Strong, but with aspirations to go Higher. Uriel pushes back, questions authority, and asks for reassurance that they’ve not done something wrong. Side note: I really hope we get to see more Uriel development bc Uriel has so much interesting potential to me.
Tumblr media
Muriel wasn’t in S1, but is an obvious parallel for early Aziraphale and we see a lot of similarities between them (their enthusiasm and delight at experiencing Earth, being believed when attempting a particular human job, enjoying books, etc).
Even the demons we see aren’t a monolith. Shax feels quite different from the classic evil demons we’ve met before. Furfur and Eric too. Although they’re doing demon stuff, none of these demons act all that demonic. We see even more hints at them struggling and learning and growing. Being… more human.
Tumblr media
Heck, even the demon with the scary mouth in E4, Astoreth, was just doing his job.
Tumblr media
So then what if the end of S2 is establishing Crowley as the defender of Humanity while positioning Aziraphale to share knowledge and the freedom of choice in heaven. If the ‘big battle’ that Crowley mentioned at the end of S1 is between Humanity and whoever is representing Heaven or Hell, maybe it’s time to give more ethereal and occult beings the opportunity to choose their own place in that fight.
Tumblr media
Because I think that Crowley is right that Heaven and Hell are toxic. And Aziraphale is right that they both can do good. And separating the two of them, as painful as it is to watch, could give Aziraphale the space to see glimpses of humanity in the other angels (and even demons?) while positioned in Heaven. And it could give Crowley... probably trust issues, actually. I guess let's put a pin in that part.
But come Season 3, I would love to see Crowley and Aziraphale positioned on opposite sides of the war to end all wars, Aziraphale representing Heaven (and Hell?) and Crowley alongside Humanity. But before anything truly awful happens, they do what they always do.
They’ll come up with a plan. And they'll rescue one another and themselves.
Tumblr media
And everything else and everyone else will fall into place around them.

I headcanon that crowley hates halloween. He hates the attention that hell gets once a year and he hates how inaccurate everything is. He keeps saying to aziraphale how those demons don't look realistic at all and these humans should see some real demons once in a while.
Aziraphale on the other hand loves halloween. He loves the silly costumes and he also loves how people get sweets and says it really helps the neighbourhood get to know eachother.
Every year, aziraphale forces crowley to find a costume (a new one each year) and they go trick or treating together. At first, crowley isn't enthusiastic and hates it but by the end of the night, he's so giddy and wants to go to more houses. Azi has to drag him back home.
Each year they go through the same cycle and crowley denies ever enjoying this holiday

The three tones according to Crowley:
1. bored
*phone rings*
Crowley: *picks it up* Oi?
Aziraphale: Crowley you’re not doing anything right?
Crowley: n-no I guess not why?
Aziraphale: oh just because I was trying to occupy myself with books but not even that is working. S-so I was wondering if we can-
Crowley: *smiles* let me guess, wanna drink wine and chat together?
Aziraphale: *Blushes lightly* y-yeah, I mean! If that’s okay with you my dear?
Crowley: say no more angel, I’ll be there any moment now.
2. He have to say something before he pops.
*phone rings*
Crowley: yeah a-
Aziraphale: *jumps up and down with a smile* oh! Crowley! You won’t believe what happen today!
Crowley: *smiles as he press the phone under his ear* oh what happen today angel?
Azirpahale: *blushes make a joyful humming sound as he snaps his finger in excitement with a pleasant smile* so! I was reading a book about botany like you recommended and oh Crowley it been such a delight! I’ve learn marvelous things and tips on taking care of the plants if I ever one one; I can see why you have such love for them, did you know that….
*Azirpahale continue to talk about botany but Crowley smiles softly as he listen to his favorite angel be excited about something he learned. Never interrupts him once, just listen to his voice as his angel being happy is what make him happy as well*
3. Something’s wrong
Crowley: *picks up the phone as it rang* hey aziraphale what’s going on.
Aziraphale: *sniffs* h-hey. I’m sorry, I was just r-reading a book and-
Crowley: say no more, I’ll be over very soon. Is there anything you need before I go give you cuddles and listen to what made you cry, angel?
Azirphale: *stiff* can you get me m-marshmallow for my coco?
Crowley: say no more-
