Reader's Rant

Okay so I had finished reading the Legacy of Gods Series few days ago so here are my thoughts(after lots of thinking,psychoanalysing and self arguing)

1)RINA PROMOTING MISOGYNISTIC VIEWS:

•The "virgin trope" is seriously not a trope at this point when each and every book has this.She makes it seem as if the fmc has commited blasphemy(What's her obsession with this word anyways.Its everywhere in her books.The blasphemy😯) if she has slept with someone before the mc.Wth!?And every male character is a casanova.Like we will find virgin Mcs hot too okay?? Especially in Ava's case like I thought okay finally we have a fmc who has had a life before mc but no?Like she makes it seem Ava have a grandiose sex life and later makes her a virgin too!?Like its okay to have experience and its totally okay to not marry the first guy you sleep with.

I also think that having literally ALL men experienced in EVERY SINGLE THING is also so frustrating.Like it would have been cool if Eli or Creighton were not u know??She makes it seem as a chore the men have to do the second they turn 18

•Another example of misogyny is the extreme sense of ownership they have for all the women in their life. Like the dad's are seriously crossing limits.Protectiveness is cute but the no-twat-is-good-enough-for-my-princess shit is exhausting.Jeremy and Landon are wayyy too controlling.Its literally offensive.You will HATE such a brother and dad for life and beyond.

•She made all women literal doormats.Enough said. (except Ava,Ari and Maya-who she turned into a villain because she has a life so she should not be the good sister)

•The fmcs had all sort of problems, worries,insecurities blah blah which could not be cured by besties, family, friends, therapists nope!They could only be cured within 2 chapters at most once the perfect mc decides to help!

•Over possessiveness.Hated it.Like listen I can still somehow get Killian's jealousy towards Remi(by dark romance standards ONLY) but Creighton has been close friends with Remi since birth and how he literally does not allow a single friendly touch!?And his insta posts each statng MINE MINE MINE repeatedly felt embarrassing and cringe rather than hot and when he tells her to stop following people like WHAT!?

2)UNFULFILLED TROPES AND PROMISES:

I am the kind of reader who gives great attention to the blurbs and tropes before reading a book.

•God of Pain is a grumpy x sunshine.Now I believe this was mentioned due to the appeal and popularity of the trope but Annika is not a sunshine at all.Sunshine character is not one which ACTS and pretends to be happy,outgoing and perfect while she has her insecurities,fears and troubles eat her up inside(her words)

•God of fury has been said to have the trope mafia prince x GOLDEN BOY which is not accurate.Anyone who has read the books should know this already ig.

•God of war which happens to be my fav from the series has false claimed tropes too.Like it was NOT a marriage of convenience.Eli forced the proximity upon Ava by forcing her to marry him(I believe forced proximity means both leads who hate each other are forced to be closer)and the sunshine point is similar as that of Annika.Imagine if someone is searching for a stand alone marriage of convenience and forced proximity....they'll be sad,angry and frustrated u know(Not me.I loved the book)

•Being an apathatic sociopath and selfish narcissist is different.Research your attributes Rina.

•Rina literally backtracks upon Eli's feelings in gow.Repeatedly mentions how Eli had no feelings for Ava before Uni.While she had stated in Royal Elite epilogue how Eli kisses new born Ava,calls her pretty,is asking Aiden for marriage pact,stares at her.Even in gow Ava mentions that he caused guys disappear even when she was in HIGH SCHOOL."Yeah he had no interest at all"😑(THE LAST LINE WAS SARCASM.YES SOME PEOPLE NEED IT TO BE SPELLED OUT.your welcome)

•Mia's selective mutism was played with totally wrong.AGAIN RESEARCH RINA!

3)PROBLEMS IN THE BOOKS

•The extremely perfect mcs who are geniuses(Einstein who?),strong,attractive all the positive attributes who can think of other than a heart ofc.Like is it wrong if at least one mc has worked hard for the way they are!?Nope these are born perfections who can cure world hunger but will not because the world does not deserve it. Fmcs have all sorts of issues(other than being spineless,submissive doormats.Not Ava,Ari,Maya) which will be cured by the MC!Yeah!(Though the way Eli helps Ava is actually book perfect,heart warming and realistic.Its quite real that her parents and Cecily babied her and could not handle hard decisions that could benefit her)

•BRATS PLAYING GODS!All the mcs are over privileged brats who have done nothing but be born to "earn" their "god" status.Like they are literal UNI kids.Like they were all spoiled brats basically criminals who were setting things(buildings) on fire and hurting and killing people like what!?

•THEIR AGES AND THEIR*ahem* ACTIONS!?Their ages in their respective books:

Killian(19)-Glyndon(19)😱😲😵😶 Creighton(20)-Annika(17-18) Jeremy(23-24)-Cecily(20) Landon(23)-Mia(18-19) Nikolai(19)-Brandon(23) Eli and Ava had time skip so it was okay(29 and 23)

Like their ages are seriously concerning.I especially wanna talk about Creighton and Annika.Annika is literally a child and her book basically had her having some sort of Stockholm Syndrome.

I ABSOLUTELY HATED how creighton won't let Annika speak or talk to him without him adding the numbers iykyk.LIKE I hate how I have read soo many posts yet none mentions it!!?And how Annika is shown to have been cleared of her problems after she has sex !?And Creigh acts like a divorced 38 year old guy with an adult kid while Annika is has 0 personality(Haters can go cry a river)I really wanted Annika to leave him u know?And what was that soap opera shit with the gun and crying and sobbing and kidnapping(Which is okay because she revealed to Ava,Glyn,Cecy that its her fantasy😑)and because we are going all in so lets add suicide shit too.And yeah she was ready to kill herself yesterday and is sunshine and rainbows today yeah!!

Killian has had loads of experience in every kind of sexual activity with both men and women and in clubs and whatnot at 19 and he is bored of all that now😂😑

Ohh I almost forgot!Its literally sooo stupid and meaningless that the girls experience whatever fantasy they shared during a drunk night with each other😂😂😂Like Rina basically wants to sorta convey that the girls "wished" for it😂(Think before you wish folks!)

Zero family dynamics other than the fathers making a one chapter visit talking about the Everlasting love for their wives,their doormat of a princess daughters and zero say in all the "emotional trauma" ALL of them have(they wish)

Landon favourism was not good.Especially in gof where it should have been Niko's moment.

Its enough for today I think.

I am not posting it as a hate post.It is RANT as stated,a critical analysis.(Being going through a book hangover from Gow....partially cured through the MADDEST OBSESSION OMG YES!!!)

One last thing!!!!I get that its the creator's wish and whatever but the fact that Rina isn't writing a Remi (An Mc with emotions!!!!)Ariella(Strong fmc!The blasphemy! )and Maya Ilya book sorta shows how she can't change her formula.

The first light of dawn gently filtered through the bedroom curtains, casting a soft glow on the room that was covered in black. You blinked your eyes open, the early morning haze slowly giving way to the realization that you were trapped.

To your right, the king of Niflheim, the cardinal sin of sloth - Belphegor, or your lazy husband, was sprawled across the bed, snoring softly. His arm draps over your waist in a lazy hug, his face peaceful in sleep.

Belphegor was not a morning person. And never be. Any attempt to wake him before he was ready would result in a grumpy grumble and a mumbled complaint, or… worse…. Beleth has been working hard all these times.

You smile at the thought and pat your husband's head, caressing his hair. The devil of sloth let out a purr, burying his head in the nape of your neck and continuing his travel in the dream world.

You just sigh and look at your other side. Curling around on your left was your little boy, Lazlo. He clung to you like a little koala, his small hands gripping your shirt. His black hair which he inherited from his father is tousle, and his face buried in your hip. He is your little shadow, always seeking your warmth and comfort. Belphegor and he sometimes at each other’s throat all because of this. But they are both too lazy to fight and end up cuddling together. Whenever Beleth comes to pick them up, he now has to carry both of them piggyback, with Lazlo on top Belphegor’s back. 

And then there was Remy, Lazlo's twin sister, perched precariously on top of you, with her head resting on your chest, one leg sprawled over her brother. Unlike her father, Remy was a light sleeper, and she was always the first to wake up between the three of them. “To spend more time with mommy” was her reason.

Remy is a quiet girl with big round and lively eyes. Her favorite thing is to drag her father and brother outside and the three of them just lay down wherever they can sleep. 

There was one time the whole Niflheim had to look in every nook and cranny to find them because they disappeared for the whole day. Not a single note and not even going back to eat. Turns out they were sleeping at the river near the border of Niflheim and Tatarus. You really want to give them a punishment but… Look at those puppy eyes! ╰（‵□′）╯ Agrh they all know your weakness and now take advantage of it.

It seems like this morning Remy also enjoying the luxury of sleeping in.

You sighed softly, careful not to disturb the delicate balance. You could feel the warmth of your lovely family all around you, a cocoon of love and comfort. But as much as you cherish these moments, you also need to start your day. Niflheim can operate well in the past without Belphegor is due to the poor hard working nobles and other devils. But now you’re the queen of Niflheim, Belphegor’s wife, you want to help too, mostly just paper works, but the devils always look so grateful (cus they like to use their hands more than their head?)

You glance at the clock on the nightstand - 5:39 AM. The alarm should go off soon, and you need to find a way to extricate yourself without waking everyone.

You start with Belphegor, gently lifting his heavy arm and placing it back on his side of the bed. At first, it doesn’t seem to work since he just grip your waist tighter. After a few more tries, you finally escape his bear hug. Belphegor mumbles something incoherent but doesn't wake up. Thank God (oh wait–) 

Next was Lazlo. You carefully lift him up and free your poor shirt from his fingers, then gently place him next to his father. He stir slightly but then snuggle into Belphegor’s chest, still fast asleep.

Remy is the tricky one. She has been on top of your belly the whole time when you move the other two.

You slowly shift, trying to carry her the same way with Lazlo and lay her down on top of Belphy. Just as you thought the mission complete, Remy's eyes fluttered open. She looks up at you, sleepy and confused.

"Mommy?... Where are you going…" Remy whispered, try to keep her eyes open.

"Just getting up, sweetheart," You whispered back. "Go back to sleep my little potato."

Remy nods and rolls over, snuggling into her father while hand grip onto Lazlo. With your children settled, you finally slip out of bed, feeling a pang of guilt but also a sense of relief. You tiptoe to the bathroom, closing the door quietly behind you and getting ready for work.

A few minutes later, you now feel refreshed and ready to face the day. You peek into the bedroom and smile. Belphegor had shifted in his sleep, now lying sprawled on his back. Lazlo and Remy were huddled together, as Lazlo also got pick up and lay on top of Belphy’s chest, their faces serene.

You headed to the office, with breakfast has already prepared for you. The smell of cacao soon filled the whole room. As you sipping the sweet and bitter drink, you smile happily. Mornings might be a bit chaotic, and you might feel like a human sandwich sometimes (all the time), but these moments were precious. They were the moments that made your life in Hell lively and full of love.

Prologue: Unexpected journey

New Nebraska June 1 [5,000,024 This is the year in game] 8:00 am

Waking up in the city of New Nebraska is not allways noisy so you can imagine that it turns really noisy when a superpowered brawl breaks out in the city center with the leagues of villains and heroes living in it.

Thankfully I can watch these fight go down from the comfort of my home/laboratory by hacking the security cameras across town and having another screen with the news highlights it reads:

The Extremely Dangerous Villain Group Thrasher have entered combat with the New Nebraska Justice Division (NNJD) and New Nebraska Law Enforcement (NNLE) after a failed bank heist.

The live feed shows the city center as the Hero Themis punches the Supervillan Overhaul across the park as the rest of her teammates deal with the others getting the upperhand before one of his arm transforms into a chainwhip and hits her she's sent flying and one of the power armored officers has his waist bends at a weird angle before slamming hard against one of the buildings.

Remi: Oh waists don't bend that way. I say this as after seeing that brutal display if they only knew Overhaul is actually the weakest and on the bottom of the totem pole of Apocrypha the Villain group run by Emperor the Strongest Villain ever and brother to the Strongest Hero ever Stars and Stripes.

Few are privy to this knowledge since its a tight lipped secret and that Emperor is only known by the members of Hades his elites that he only sends out when he needs something done quietly and erasing "evidence" I had the misfortune of meeting Emperor face to face when he came to my home and essentially blackmailed me into joining his group [depending on the players choices you can join Apocrypha and even romance Emperor which is gonna be fun for some boys or ladies😈] I managed to get him off my back for awhile but he will most likely return.

A small voice calling me mommy bring me out of my thoughts before turn around on my chair and see Ratatui me pet Rat climbing on my leg before reaching my thigh. Remi: What is it boy I grab him and I see why behind him an alert blinking red letting me know a hole in time and space and even reality itself is being torn open and the location is....Shepherd Tower my Parents Company.

A. Gear up and Investigate Shepherd Tower.

B. Call Stars and Stripes [You can romance them too their nonbinary for a reason that is spoilers but go by male pronouns to avoid confusion].

C. Keep watching the battle and then investigate later.

M, X and Z for Dalia and Arassa!! I love them both so much, I will have to do a separate playthrough for them each 😂

For Dalia:

M (Marriage): Marriage isn't really something that Dalia has thought about, honestly. She's not necessarily opposed to it, but she has no particular interest in it either. If the MC wanted to get married, though, she'd do so happily.

X (X-Ray): There is so much self-loathing when the MC gets injured. How could she allow this to happen? All the power she has, and she can't even protect her loved ones. It should have been her. Cue a downward spiral.

Z (Zeal): Despite her cold exterior, Dalia is quite passionate. Fire thrums beneath her skin, love seeps into her veins like poison. She would move mountains for the MC, loves them so much that it hurts. But she keeps that under lock-and-key, close to her chest.

For Arassa:

M (Marriage): Marriage has been a curse upon Arassa for over a decade. She hates the farce that is her union with Remys, and despises him for the shackles he used to chain her to him. She's grown a dislike for the institution in general. It would take a lot of coaxing to convince her to marry again, even to the MC, but I think that if she was convinced to do so, she would look at it as a kind of redemption.

X (X-Ray): This is one of the few times anyone will ever see Arassa truly furious. She is swift in her retribution, seizing whoever it was to cause the MC harm, and when she finds them, they receive none of her famous mercy. They will rue the day the decided to hurt the MC, that she swears on the Pantheon.

Z (Zeal): Arassa is a passionate lover. She sees the MC as a saving grace, something that makes court just a little brighter. When she falls, she falls hard, and she lets you know it. Despite their piety, House Tibrem's blood runs hot, and she is no exception.

No, not former President Donald Trump (though it applies to him, too). But given the last week in Black pop culture, that figure is Nicki Minaj. 

What should be one of hip-hop’s sterling legacies has long been sullied by her support-at-all-costs dictatorship. Her alleged off-putting demeanor has circumvented anything she’s done for at least the past half-decade. Her closest affiliations and decisions have threatened to make her a pariah. And her catalog — despite its chart success — has produced bloated numbers and empty statistics primarily driven by a cult following who’ll support her regardless of her morals, targets or intentions. Nicki Minaj has become a cancer to an art form she once almost single-handedly carried on her back.

A pen to a test, as another New York MC once said while engaged in battle. And it’s a battle she herself, more than anyone else except Megan Thee Stallion, knew was bubbling for quite some time.

Nicki’s Spaces tirade came after the Queens, New York, rapper spent days spiraling on social media about Megan Thee Stallion. The last four years of Megan’s life have been filled with controversy, suicidal thoughts and anxiety. Suspected targets in “HISS” included rapper Drake, Lanez, her former best friend Kelsey Harris, former boyfriend Paridson “Pardi” Fontaine and more. The most poignant of the bars was seemingly directed at Nicki — an artist Megan herself once said she had been her fan since 2008 and she was one of her biggest inspirations.

“These h— don’t be mad at Megan, these h— mad at Megan’s Law/I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start/B—-, you a p—-, never finna check me/Every chance you get, bet your weak a– won’t address me.”

Megan’s Law was signed into law in February 1996. It required registered sex offenders to publicly disclose their place of employment and residence to local law enforcement. Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, served 4½ years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted rape in 1994 when he was 16. Nicki Minaj and Petty were sued for witness tampering in 2021. Jennifer Hough, the survivor of the attempted rape, claimed the couple pressured her to recant her story after Petty was arrested shortly after moving to California for essentially failing to comply with Megan’s Law. Jelani Maraj, Nicki Minaj’s brother, was sentenced to 25 years to life for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in 2017. Fair or not, her proximity to these heinous offenses has irreparably harmed her career. 

“Nobody is saying that Nicki isn’t happy, [or] that Nicki’s man doesn’t love her, [or] that they don’t have a supportive relationship,” media personality and attorney Rachel Lindsay said on her Higher Learningpodcast with co-host Van Lathan. “But I just feel like aren’t you always tired of having to go off on somebody bringing up what actually happened? … She just gets so outraged anytime it’s brought up, but it’s true! At least as far as the record is concerned. I just wish she would just stop.”

Following the release of “HISS,” Nicki Minaj immediately took to social media to respond in a bizarre Instagram Live video where she soft-launched “Big Foot.” The song was filled with erratic thoughts of her lamenting the shooting that landed Lanez in prison, invoking Megan Thee Stallion’s mother, Holly Thomas, who died of brain cancer in 2019, and blasting Megan’s alleged sexual history. How the record came to be is a microcosm of where Nicki Minaj, an undisputed hip-hop icon in her own right, currently stands.

Nicki’s most recent album, Pink Friday 2, showcased moments of glory like “Barbie Dangerous” and introspective odes like “Are You Gone Already?” and “Just the Memories.” The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart for one week and is currently a top 100 album in the country. Her dominance, however, lives mainly on the internet. Online is where she’s most influential and her security most shielded. 

America is no stranger to celebrity worship. Beyoncé has the Beyhive, Rihanna has her Navy, Justin Bieber has the Beliebers and Taylor Swift has the Swifties (which now includes the NFL). In a world where celebrity worship, or “stanning,” sits further on the maniacal side than charming, Nicki Minaj’s “Barbz” resemble a cult more than an online fan club. The local cemetery where Thomas is buried has reportedly alerted local authorities about increasing security due to alleged calls from Barbz to desecrate Thomas’ grave. Sadly, Nicki rarely does much to control those who hang on to her every word.

Despite last week’s drama, it’s nearly impossible to envision a world where she didn’t see a response coming. The two initially linked up in 2019. They soon collaborated on Megan Thee Stallion’s hit “Hot Girl Summer.” In August 2020, a month after Megan was shot, Nicki Minaj again praised her following the release of her Cardi B collaboration “WAP,” saying that she “was the perfect example that we can be fun and smart at the same time.”

Everything changed in 2021 when both artists unfollowed each other on social media. Subliminal disses from Nicki Minaj followed, like 2021’s “Seeing Green” and last year’s “Ruby Red Da Sleeze,” which contained bars referring to her alleged alcoholism and her Doritos Super Bowl commercial. In the fall of 2022, Nicki Minaj alleged that she once tried to get her to consume alcohol while she was attempting to get pregnant, a claim Megan Thee Stallion vehemently denied. 

Nicki Minaj claims to have several more songs in the tuck should this beef continue. It begs two questions. One, does she herself consider “Big Foot” better than “HISS”? And two, why lead with this one, an objective dud if there are other options? 

Megan Thee Stallion has not responded since dropping “HISS,” opting to use the attention to promote the song, her upcoming album and tour. Nicki, who prided herself for years on how she commands a media cycle, essentially got TKO’d at her own game. The same thing happened to her after Remy Ma dropped her colossal diss record “shETHER.” It happened again when Cardi B attempted to fight her at New York Fashion Week in 2018, which promptly revived conversations about respectability politics.

Nicki Minaj’s impact over the last 15 years is undeniable, and her role in the evolution of women in rap is objectively unimpeachable. She’s done it in many ways, from underground mixtapes to outrapping established stars through fashion, album sales and awards. She is a star, with no disclaimer on gender. Nicki Minaj should be celebrated as a rap legend. She can rap and is amazing at it when she decides to be. All of which makes her response — with years of tensions marinating below the surface — even more head-scratching. The only approval came from the same fans who would support her regardless of what she does. 

It’s impossible to predict if Nicki can fix her public image — but it’s clear at this point she doesn’t care to or even have to. She hasn’t been the superstar she once was in her mind — or the Barbz’s — in years. And she likely never will be again. But much like the aforementioned former president, rapper Kanye West or even Lanez, there’s value in cultivating one’s own alternate reality because it means there’s never any reason to leave.

How the Head Barbie in Charge is discussed in American hip-hop and pop culture now is primarily based on the person she is, not the feats she accomplished. The pathetic part is it never had to be like this. What’s even more pathetic is that she doesn’t care to acknowledge it at all.
