Sometimes you may need help to figure out the right thing. That's a good place for those "what would I have done in WWII Nazi Germany" comparisons. That is still trying to do the right thing, because the right thing helps people, but it may be hard to see if you are inside the struggle.

And yeah, sometimes people need motivation to do the right thing. I need my dog's help to get out of bed in the morning, life can be difficult at every level. If you need "I want my grandkids to be proud of me" to do the difficult things, that's still trying to help people, just using a morale buff to get you started.

Let's assume people are already trying, and all just need help, whether it's to help people directly, or to help people do their best to help people. And do our best, to help all of them.

We get so used to ignoring that we ARE uncomfortable when we can't do something or other, because we're told so often that we were "just lazy", until we think "lazy" actually *includes* discomfort. But it doesn't!

If we were really lazy we would PREFER the feeling when we can't do the thing. It would be pleasant. It's not "just need to try a little harder, stop goofing off" when you would rather just fucking DO the activity, actually.

So take that self-accusation off the table. Stop beating yourself up, stop using someone else's language, ideas you acquired back when you didn't understand that it wasn't a choice you were making. That language was imposed on you from the outside, and it's wrong.

Take the break. Try to enjoy it. You're still not lazy.

Trough bad and good days, trough all the pain and thoughts - you made it.

You made it to fight another full 365 days.

You fought even it was and is not easy.

You made it even it costs you so much.

I do not know if someone allready told you this but I am super proud of you.

I know the near year can be scary because it is another full 365 days and nobody knows how it will be.

A new chapter with empty paper so you can write your story on it - the pencils are all yours.

It costs so much strength, maybe you are hurt and tired and the thoughts are streaming.

But you fought them, for so many days and this is so strong.

It is okay to be not okay.

You are and you will always be important, you will always matter, you will always deserve the best.

Even there are times you need to rest to refill your energy, you deserve all the time.

You are not a burden, not a loser, you do not matter less.

You are a living being with limited strength, feelings and thoughts, taking breaks is okay and important.

You deserve all the time you need, all the time you need to heal.

You will always be enough.

I wish you the very best for the new year, all the good, all what you need to heal.

Just want to kind of repeat here a conversation I'm having with a friend::

I know a lot of people are drawn to tumblr because they saw a screenshot of a hot take on some reddit board or floating around wherever.

But tumblr is meant to be a fun space. You're meant to enjoy things and share your enjoyment with like-minded people. You'll find people who aren't like-minded, you don't agree with their takes or don't like them.

So keep scrolling. Block them if you want.

Tumblr isn't make-it-or-break-it. It isn't the end-all-be-all of the internet. You don't need to write dissertations on posts you don't agree with and fight with one another over takes.

You can enjoy things for what they are, or how they speak to you, or how you read into them. You can dislike things without taking out a full-page advertisement while you and someone else are both in your trenches trying to "win".

It's alright to just like things. And it's alright to let someone like things the way they want.

Have fun, enjoy, and if you want to take things seriously, give others the grace and courtesy to take things seriously in their way too. "Block" anything or anyone who throws off your groove, and just keep enjoying what you enjoy how you enjoy it.

But don't try to force others to see it the way you do, enjoy it the way you do, and interpret it the way you do.
