After two weeks of dealing with crippling, bedridding illness, possibly covid, and finally getting over it, one really comes to appreciatte the relentess unthinking blessing that is to be healthy. The limitless power that holds the self locomotive engine that is your body.

I was basically not a person for two weeks. I was sludge chained to a bed, eternally scrolling on my cellphone because i literally did not have the strength to do anything else. I made a fucking bluesky account because of how mindnumbingly bored i was.

I had to wake up morning after morning on soaping wet sheets and pillows, dripping with fever sweat, and then i had to just lie in them all day because i couldnt get out of bed and change them.

And today, without even noticing, i got up, walked around, took a walk outside, cooked food, cleaned the house a little, fed the cat, changed my bedsheets. When i realized what was happening i genuenly felt like some kind of primeval godess. Balling up my hand into a tight fist felt like channeling the strength of the planets into my arm. I can move my body, walking, taking steps, doesnt feel like plunging into the sea, counting the seconds before i run out of breath and have to return to the surface that was lying prone in bed.

Every time she consents, to him it's no different from rape - her 'consent' is a willful debasement of herself. What she is 'consenting' to - beit sex, a relationship, marriage, a BDSM scene etc. - is actually proving to him that he can achieve what he wants if he demonstrates the fullness of humanity. For each man, what counts as 'true humanity' differs depending on his values:

for some men, physical force is a show of true humanity as it is a powerful and literal depiction of his ability to project his wants and desires onto the world at any cost;

for others, cunning and manipulation is a show of true humanity as it clearly demonstrates the difference between The Thinking Man and the base animalistic crudity of nature;

for some, determination is a show of true humanity - he won't exercise force because that's animalistic and beneath him, and he believs himself too honest to manipulate - but the human power of want can be effectively demonstrated through relentess persistence and being single-minded with goals. These men will turn to things like stalking and harassing (and is heavily pushed as the 'acceptable' face of men's love in popular media);

A woman's consent in any of these scenarios is not a win for her (in the context of the power dynamic), but rather a win for him - his ability to behave according to his value system has proved to him that he can achieve his goals and show that he has achieved the full richness of humanity. If his attempts prove fruitless in claiming a woman he will become disillusioned and inevitably try out the other versions of 'exercising his power of want and humanity'. Men who were simply happy to woo a woman with expensive gifts will suddenly rape her if it's not going well for him - this is not a contradiction in his behaviour, but rather proof that he sees no difference in her 'consent' to sex after being spoiled with lavish gifts, and being taken by force. Consent is merely the moment she gives up, and true consent is the moment she gives up and enjoys it (most if not all men want the former, and some want the latter - many are obsessed with the fact that they don't care for the latter for themselves, but they are terrified of it happening with other men).

So to men, women's 'consent' is a proof that the system works - that he is better than her and can win her over/make her give in through an arbitrary set of behaviours. The moment he has sex with her is functionally no different from the moment he has raped her, he has claimed her. All is proof that he won.
