The basics, Gods, Demigods, Devil Fruits, all exist.

World Gov + Marines try and keep the whole concept of gods and demigods under wraps. Because I'm working with "D's" carry divinity. And having a good chunk of them outright despise the government isn't a great look.

Luffy is a god while Garp and Dragon are demigods. Luffy can shift between physical and 'divine' form whereas demigods don't have that ability.

Luffy is the successor/inheritor of his predecessor's will and own divinity. But not through reincarnation necessarily. One in the same but they are very much so different. His devil fruit and promise to Shanks cemented his place as the successor to the sun and freedom. When gods and demigods start out, there isn't a wholly set future for what will they will have, or the ideals they will embody. Luffy has always had his cloudy/intangible form.

Imagine Garp's surprise when his grandson, who was supposed to join him in the marines, is set to embody freedom and the sun. He was pissed for a solid week about that. Garp also had to deal with questioning where Dragon had even gotten Luffy from, he still doesn't know.

Ace and Sabo were very adamant that Luffy not show off his divine form to everyone, especially if he wanted to become a pirate. He can't be a pirate if the government tracks him down and hides him away at the ripe age of like, 8. Also because having a full god is pretty uncommon, Sabo has heard horror story after horror story of what nobles and those in higher society would do to a god. Sabo is the most vocal about Luffy being careful about that.

Luffy meets Koby, and does an absolutely terrible job at keeping his form hidden. It's harder to control which form he's in when he's excited. Koby was a human with no divinity and big dreams that Luffy adored. So, already excited with a new friend, and the two on their way to Shells town, Luffy sneezed and immediately sold himself out. Koby is a terrible liar and so just elects to never speak on this topic ever. If anyone asks why he has so much knowledge on gods, specifically sun gods, he just doesn't answer. Helmeppo thinks it's funny and immediately pieced together why, because Koby cannot keep anything from him. And Garp has to respect how hard that kid is trying to not completely sell out his grandson, even if the brat kind of deserves it for being a pirate.

Luffy is going to be the Pirate King, divine or not. His crew quickly find out about his side quirk/form in varying ways. Zoro woke up one day with a cloudy demon from hell cutting off his airways. Nami was trying to explain clouds to Luffy and that 'no, they cannot just spawn on your person, that's stupid,' and so Luffy shows her that he is in fact, correct.

Usopp got jumpscared early in the morning, before the sun had risen, when Luffy just appeared behind him and asked if he wanted to watch the sunrise. Sanji was cooking dinner and Luffy got so excited he phased out of his physical body.

Chopper found out while asking Luffy if he had any medical conditions he should know about, he thought it was kinda cool that Luffy can change forms. And is only a little jealous that Luffy has a fully human form. Luffy always makes sure to tell Chopper he's exactly who he needs to be.

Robin found out after talking about 'Nika,' who is thought to be long dead, but is not. And is the captain of the crew she is now apart of. Luffy knows the name is important and it has a certain weight when it's said. He physically feels when someone says his name around him. Robin thinks this is very fascinating. (Also can add some context into poneglyphs, that there is a lot to it, even if Robin doesn't yet know and Luffy wasn't alive/doesn't have that knowledge)

Franky was showing off cool shit he could do with his robotic body, and Luffy was like 'me too!!!'

Brook found out when Luffy fell asleep listening to him play a song, and Luffy slipped back into his resting form of cloudiness.

While both forms have their uses and limitations, Luffy is most comfortable in his intangible form, even if his physical one is the default. He cannot access his divine form after a certain point of exhaustion hits.

Im going to end that there before I have an entire novel in this. But that's the general thought throw up I'm smacking down right now.

Sorry if this is incoherent and not easy to understand lol. I will flesh it out more later and when I have actually thought more about it. Might change things later too. Then I'll probably make a good post about it with actual wellish made context and lore.

the gods all have favorites, and ironically none of them are their own kids (save for hades: he loves his kid. doesn't make him a good parent, but you know?)

In a more Zelda timeline abiding setting; Originally they weren't all at camp halfblood at the same time, but time shenanigans decided they were to be brought together

Imagine Chiron’s surprise when 7 of his dead campers waltz into camp (this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME they enter camp. Dionysus is completely unfazed, knowing the bs time shit the gods are dealing with atm)

By the time they enter camp in Wild’s Hyrule for the second time he kinda understands (Wind and Sky didnt have a Camp Halfblood, for the record, for obvious reasons)

Alternatively, its some form of modern au where they’re just from different parts of Hyrule (skyloft, downfall, ordonia, windfall peninsula, hyrule town (different from castle town), the list goes on) which would make a lot more sense for this kinda au (the world would’ve just had a LOT of calamities within the span of a few years, some of the heroes knowing about camp and others not so much)

(i think Legend, Wars, Time, Wind (post WW) and Four would’ve known about Camp Halfblood while the others were just kinda on their own until after their quests) meaning over half of them didn’t have prophecies and just went to deal with the issue themselves, possibly meaning on their journey they learned of camp

All Zelda’s are children of Athena, save for Skyward Sword Zelda since she's the reincarnation of Hylia (yeah, im keeping the original Zelda goddesses! What of it?)

At some point fairly early on, a Zelda only had a son, who got together with Athena at some point and boom

he was the "first" Link; Zeus was technically the first God, it makes sense (this is such a stupid reason)

The skies are his home, Zeus finding someone on Skyloft and “falling in love” with their love of the sky too results in this bad boy right here

The demise fight? Only a zeus kid could harbor lightning like that

A camp counselor in the modern setting (ik typically once you’re 18, you’re no longer a camper really, but shhhh)

Wind: child of Poseidon 

Don't roll your eyes, i've got a reason!!

the 4 wind gods throw a fit anytime he's sent on a quest (they all love him even if they won't admit it)

A world purely ocean and islands? Poseidon would have a fuckin ball

The Great Sea needed a hero, Wind was brought about more for necessity than out of the want to have a child (this leaves a hard disconnect between wind and the gods, knowing his dad didn’t really have him out of love for his mom but because the world needed to be saved)

The irony of Poseidon being the patron of pegasi and horses and Wind not knowing what a horse is will never not be a funny thought

Has more control over the wind than he does the sea (for now) 

he, like Legend, pointedly ignores that he's a demi-god, especially since he comes after the Hero of Time (kinda hard to live up to that, even outside of a demi-god au)

The ocean and winds are his mood ring: you upset him the wind gods are after you

In a modern setting, the same reason applies kinda; a quest under the sea would be virtually impossible for anyone but a child of Poseidon, and hell knows a cyclopes isnt gonna be sent (gotta love those prophecies)

Wind isnt a demigod

The wind gods still adore him, but he doesn't have the hero’s spirit and i think that’d kinda translate to not being a demigod, yet still being the one who was destined to go on the quest because there just weren't any demigods to do it

Legend: child of Hades 

Ah yes, child of the big three goes on so many quests trope. Love to see it

he's Apollo's favorite favorite (Warriors is jealous as hell. Thats his dad! Wdym he likes Legend more????) 

Pointedly ignores the fact he's a demigod (at least, he definitely tries to)

Blessed by (and beefing with) so many gods from his quests

probably one of the few heroes who's spoken to their godly parent (trust me, it was out of obligation rather than free will)

Prefers helping out the more minor, underappreciated, and not as needy or bitchy gods (like Hestia, for example)

curses the Olympians constantly, they've learned to ignore him, hes their best questing kid

Sort of a general camp counselor since Hades doesn't really have kids (its technically his last year but hes been there the longest out of everyone)

Managed to block the oracle over iris message

After his trip to the dark world and lorule, the gods go haywire around him, much to his delight (because it means they leave him alone)

Hyrule: child of Hecate 

adopted by Hermes (much to the dismay of all the Hermes children)

I was on the line between Hecate, Apollo, and Hermes; Hyrule’s affinity for magic and the blood curse resulted in Hecate to win 

Very detached from the gods, the help he receives is never outright but more subtle blessings

The gods like to ignore Downfall after Legend died tbh (outside of modern, obviously)

Well, they still ignore Downfall as a city/country. 

Only learned of camp thanks to Legend, otherwise he wouldn’t have had a clue it existed

Wild: child of Athena 

Also adopted by Hermes 

One of the more chaotic children of Athena

The idea of Athena being his godly parent sourced from his resourcefulness and quick battle (or just general) strategies, along with his pre-calamity self being stoic and more on the critical side

Completely forgot he was a demigod and just let loose, Athena is more than slightly perturbed by him and yet so infatuated

Supervises archery at camp

Warriors: child of Apollo 

exemplifies almost 0 traits of his father other than his looks and his affinity for medicine (shit archer, shit musician, can't write poetry)

blessed by Athena during the war since he was struggling so much, she always has a soft spot for the heros since they fight to protect her daughters so hard (aka pity blessing) 

Actively beefing with Ares 

Aphrodite likes to keep an eye on him, mostly for entertainment (she woulda eaten the whole Cia debacle UP)

Very notorious in camp considering he was a war captain at the ripe age of 17; once learning of the whole Camp Jupiter has apartments and college for half bloods insisted and led a project at CHB to get something similar built (which is where he, Sky and Twilight stay after turning 18)

Twilight: child of Demeter

His love for ranch animals and caring for his farm lead me to this decision

Also the whole wolf thing, that also counts

Appalled by the fact Wind doesn't know what a horse is considering he's literally the son of Poseidon (jealous the kid can talk to Epona and he can't)

After his journey to the twilight, the gods kinda flicker between Greek and Roman around him so they tend to avoid him like Legend

blessed/cursed by Lupa, hence the wolf thing

Four: child of Hephaestus

He's the smithy, I couldn’t not say he's a Hephaestus kid

received a lot less help from the gods since he was one of the first 

started advocating that heros receive help from the divine after LU concludes so those after him have a fighting chance (not in the modern setting)

I havent played many of his games, but the kinstones sound like a thing Hephaestus would scatter across the earth as scrap from his creations

Not one of the fire wielders (the only one that can wield fire is Red when split, mostly because of the elemental bs in minish cap)

After drawing the Four Sword, Janus (despite being roman (i like to think the four sword would be a roman artifact, it just feels right)) was suddenly pretty interested and bestowed what wisdom he had for the demi-god

Vulcan, Neptune, Aeolus, and Ceres all came together to forge the elemental stones; the Minish were still the ones to bestow the sword to Hylian people

The gods tend to avoid him too, for the same reason they avoid Twilight and Legend (dark world shenanigans and the Four Sword)

He loves the damn forge at CHB, and was ecstatic seeing the one at Camp Jupiter

He was asked by Chiron if he would be interested in running a forge class for young demigods (be it his siblings or anyone interested) but sadly declined 

Has that air of responsibility to him, being a seasoned quester (and while his 3 doesn't stand to Legend’s 6, its still pretty sizable) hes looked up to by the younger campers

Time: child of Demeter Kronos? 

The Kokiri were so Demeter core dont even tell me they werent

I guess they’d kinda act like nymphs and dryads in a sense??

His abilities use to relate to his mother until the events of his first quest: the Ocarina of Time was designed to slowly corrupt the user, being a creation of Kronos’

However, it wasn’t really designed with a demigod in mind sooo…

Also self explanatory, the titan of time? Duh… huh?? what do you mean he was taken over?? What do you mean he was a child of Demeter?? No he wasnt lol that Neverrr happened

the reason he's the only “child” of a titan is mainly because of the fierce deity mask literally making him god-like, meaning he has a lot more power harbored in him sooo (the second he dawned that mask he discarded his old identity for that of a titan’s child, since it was also cursed object)

Don’t ask how he came to being Kronos’ kin, no one knows, not even he does (I do) (no, it does not imply a Hylian wandered into Tarturus and got out alive to have the baby)

Avoids interacting with the gods at all costs, he's weary of them as they are of him (even if he saved the world twice)

Ravio: child of Pluto 

blessed by Minerva for his natural quick witted nature and clever war strategies, if her own daughter can't succeed she might as well make sure ONE does

can tell if a rupee is real or not by glance alone

Sheerow scares the fuck out of the gods, which in turn means Ravio puts them on edge, a thing very few can achieve

the gods never gave him much thought until the events of albw, to which he suddenly gained like four pair of godly eyes on him

can and will plan one of the worlds most successful heists, refuses to participate 

also beefing with Ares (not Mars, Ares)

Based on my personal HC that Ravio’s some sort of artificer (be it replicating magic dungeon items or just flat out creating new ones) i think Vulcan has his eyes on him too

Hilda: child of Minerva 

by far the strangest child Minerva ever birthed

exemplifies the traits of a hero rather than a ruler

a little jealous her mother likes Ravio more than her

gods be damned, she's not going to let them neglect her kingdom anymore 

a force of fucking nature that single handedly forced a meeting with the gods and somehow forced them to agree to start restoring Lorule (she got the idea from Legend, who has done this multiple times for multiple different reasons)

Yo who wants a Prince!Oropo AU? (Please excuse the art quality, I just wanted to get this idea outta my head)

Season four’s ending sucked so I made this. Essentially, instead of dying when he blew up, Oropo instead was reborn as a baby. (Sorta like Ecaflip demigods or something I dunno. There’s like- 10 different confirmed means of reincarnation in this universe, what’s one more?)

Now being raised by Yugo he gets all the attention and love from his father he always craved and Yugo gets to have an existential crisis. Everyone wins. Oropo is raised as prince of the Eliatropes and is sorta like secondary royalty to the Sadidas maybe

(also that creepy kiss scene with Amalia never happened. Also Echo is still alive somewhere bc I think she’s neat)

Reader and the teens are all some kind of half-god, half-mortal kids, who end up in a summer camp, learning how to fight monsters, go on quests, and not die-

Except there's a secret that only Reader seems to know, and aren't keen to reveal it...

(Or, Reader and the teens are reincarnated gods, but Reader is the only demigod who knows, and while everyone eventually learns what their powers amd symbolism and purpose are + what they represent, Reader hides their's... for ancient dreams haunt them, of flying high and low, finding places where others couldn't go, to escape... for they represent/embody one of the few things immortals and mortals fear...)

An AU I might actually write

An AU where Percy falls into Tartarus alone (Percy and Nico parallels would go crazy for this ngl) but when he gets there like its actually sort of a system there.

There's like (very few) demigods, and like actual gods there (original gods though probably) and like beings that are apart of two different pantheons and just like beings too dangerous or demigods too dangerous and the gods just chucked them in there.

And if I wanted to take it a step further maybe demigods like Michael Yew and Ethan Nakamura who fell from the bridge and olympus respectfully ended up falling into tartarus (and somehow didn't die for plot reasons) or like maybe even Luke was sent there after his death because the gods def didn't want his reincarnated soul running around.

And so Percy's just traveling around there while he's down there and meeting all these people (some of which were just punished by existing) and not to mention the natural exploration of his powers.

But I wouldn't want it to be like an edgy, op, Annabeth breaks up with Percy type thing nothing like that.

it would also be interesting to see how differently I could get the prophecy to play out like

'the oath to keep with a final breath'

and

'to storm or fire'

or even 'and foes bear arms to the doors of death' because i feel like if i wrote bob into this fic i probably wouldn't have him last until the doors of death.

Also the effects of Percy going into Tartarus alone on the rest of the seven + Nico which is always fun.

Lowkey a Percy, Michael (Yew), and Ethan trio traveling through Tartarus could be a fun dynamic to explore.

TA the old guard au where the second titanomachy happened in ancient times and the demigods who survived the retributive post-war manhunt are cursed to never die by injury and sickness - up until a random unknown time when Thanatos is allowed to take them. basically they live as mortals (i.e. sleep, eat) and never know which fatal injury will be forever their last.

more tidbits about this au in my head:

the original core group was silena, chris, lee, lou ellen, al, and ethan. they dont know if there are any more of them out there, but in any case, they initially travelled together.

chris was the first one to strike out when he saw that the group was seriously considering reinstigating a third titanomachy; he was only loyal to luke and even then that began to fray when luke was getting too controlled by kronos; eventually reconnected with clarisse, who got promoted to being a minor god (or a constellation, idk just some lower form of immortality) after the war

silena left when she fell in love with a mortal (beckendorf), who coincidentally served in one of clarisse's temples. chrisse/charlena polycule U R REAL TO ME! but tragically, beckendorf died and now silena travels the world looking for his reincarnations. [whispers] chris and silena foils...

lee tried to keep the group together after that, but al was furious that the group had given up on revenge and took lou ellen with him

while they're facing off against an enemy magic user, lou ellen tanked a spell to buy al some time for the needed incantation, thinking that she was going to recover. spoiler: she did not, and they all felt it when she passed in al's arms. and that's how they discovered that any fatal injury could be their last, and they would never know when it wouldbe

ethan is the most do-good immortal among them, he's depressed as fuck but he will use what little energy he has towards helping demigod strays esp unclaimed kids towards a safe place. he's welcomed and remembered very fondly in rogue spaces

fast forward millennia later, the gods are no longer as involved with the mortal world - kind of like a silent era

if there is to be a fic about this two things would set the plot in progress: 1) luke's reincarnation suddenly starts recovering real quick from injuries, and 2) lee turns the gang in... to whom, i havent decided yet between a) a mortal pharma company, like in the movie, or b) some weakened deity that promises him he can end lee's life for some ulterior motive

Prahma, Daughter of Ahlat (Chosen of Battles Sid): Godblooded daughter of the God of War and Cattle, born in Yu-Shan and prepped since an early age to play a pivotal role in the upcoming dynastic conflict. Kind of a bureau special project; what Black Ice Shadow is to the Deathlord threat but for the Realm Civil War. Secretly dreams of throwing it all away to go wander creation. Hangs out with her younger half-brother Hadi, who is a magic talking aurochs. Currently part of a Sidereal task force aiming to remove Champoor from the control of the Court of Shadows and put it back into Prasadi control.

Zymo The Roach (Marrow Aspect Liminal): A morbidly happy-go-lucky liminal created from the remains of a disgraced exalted hero (a fallen wolf, you might say...) who is heavily implied to have done it to herself. Has absolutely no memory of her original thread of life or pretty much anything that's happened to it until about two years ago, when she washed up on the beach as a near-mindless undead before forging a new bond with her current thread of life, a lapsed immaculate nun. Now working as a freelance salvager and 'acquisitions expert', it's traveling with a ragtag crew of colorful characters while getting caught up in some shady shit in Skullstone. Very fond of grafting weird shit onto herself.

Jiei, Prince of Strays (Casteless Lunar): Formerly a mortal immaculate priest before he Lunar exalted, his eventual exposure for this secret drove him out into a radically different lifestyle and he became a master thief in An-Teng. His antics eventually lead to him crossing paths and becoming beloathed rivals-and then enemies to lovers- with the Dusk Caste Abyssal Desert Fang Grim Devil Lioness . This ultimately lead to them running away to the far North and starting a family, but it's really fucking hard to live an unassuming mortal life when you are both demigods with huge amounts of baggage from your respective checkered pasts. His main animal shape is a hairless cat.

Meteor Dream (Anklok Ochilike): From a Gunstar Campaign (scifi Battlestar Galactica AU where the exalted host lost the Primordial War and fled Creation on Autocthon). An ace voidfighter pilot for the Gunstar Defence Line. Coming from a race of semi-immortal dinosaur guys who retain their memories across each reincarnation, Meat has never recovered from the pain of seeing the Conquered Sun turn on His followers and has devoted the rest of their countless lives to the goal of putting Him out of His misery. Overwhelmed with the futility of this goal over many, many lifetimes of trying, they may or may not have recently invited an extremely dangerous Cronenbergian entity into their mind and body to try and finish the job for good. Uh-oh!

And the point is - Nico can tell that Jason has been trying very hard to keep him out of it. Jason doesn't want Nico to remember the life filled with sorrows and sadness and meaningless sacrifices.

So Nico feigns oblivion. He ignores the nightmares and flashbacks. He ignors the darkness that crossed Jason's face when someone brought up an old memory. Jason tries so hard to protect their innocence and Nico intends to keep it intact.

My friend had a bunch of ideas about this AU so I'm going to share it:

Demigods could become psykers or villains if they wanted to.

Demigods are not known about by regular mortals (psykers, civilians, villains) just like in the pjo verse

Villains who are demigods can only access their godly powers in their civilian form.

Psykers and villains are just regular mortals; they can't see through the mist unless they could / they were a demigod.

People probably consider the gods fake (I mean they already do but-)

Young demigods who weren't affiliated with Titan Army or Camp Half-Blood tended to go to Lampas or vilzones for protection from monsters.

Driver is a son of Hepheastus. No argument.

Moros is a demigod. No clue who his godly parent is but he's a demigod.

Yuri and Gangu/Cassian are a legacy of Minerva whilst Cassian Lee was a child of Athena.

Rose Tail and Dark Star are children of Aphrodite.

Winterbell is blessed by nature spirits.

Sometimes, psykers and demigods gets confused for one another, so there could be a random psyker in the Titan Army whilst a demigod could accidentally be brought to Lampas without their consent.

This idea probably doesn't make sense but I think it's a fun idea to play around with.

Minor divinity worldbuilding

As I said, my Au has a more fantasy vibe than the original Animatornvs Animation, and there are also Gods in it.

But there are also different "stages" of divinity

Blesseds: mortals that have the favour of a Divinity. They can have powers given by their Patron, and also have superior strength, stamina, speed, and intelligence, plus eventual additional abilities. They also have access to a Divine Status, something that can be activated to gove them a boost of power, and often they are gifted some Blessed Weapons, weapons that are incredibly powerful and that can't be wielded by normal mortals. Blessed also have a deep connection with their Patron, and pften are capable to feel each other's emptions, and sometimes they can also communicate through their bond. Blessed are very precious for their Divine Companions, but this is often a double-edged sword because people could target them to use them against their Patron, so Blesseds tend to have more protections than normal mortals. A Blessed can't have multiple Patrons, it would immediately kill them.

Demigods: they are the children of a mortal and a Deity, or the children of a Deity that makes them half mortals consciously, and they can become full-blooded Deities of they accomplish certain things. They are stronger, faster, more intelligent and more resistant than Blessed Individuals, and have abilities inherited from their Divine parent.

The Slumbering Ones: they are Divine Beings that have their Divinity sealed or hidden away. They're on par with Blessed individuals regarding power level (stronger, smarter, faster and more resistant than mortals), and can have access to a small percentage of their powers. Usually the they aren't aware of their true nature, and sometimes Slumbering Ones are Divinities that reincarnated, while other times are Divinities that consciously hid their power and status with special sealing spells for various reasons, usually for their own safety.

Minor Gods: they're Deities who are not as powerful as Gods. Minor Deities don't have any moral restrictions and usually act as "assistants" to the more powerful Gods, sometimes they're even created by said Gods.

Gods: they're divine entities that are stronger than Minor Gods and Demigods. They preside over various Aspects of reality and life, like the Natural Elements (like fire, air, water, etc) or some Concepts (like emotions, war, wisdom, etc). They are important for the World they live in, but still obey to the Primordials rule. Their World can also live without them to a certain extent, unlike with Primordials.

Primordial Gods: they are the most important Divinities. They normally rule over the concepts of Life, Death, Time, Space and similar ones, and are the ones that were there since the very beginning of the World they live in, usually partaking in the creation of said World. The status of Primordial God can be inherited by others (from the Demigod category upwards) if the previous Primordial dies, but it's rare. Usually, the ones who inherit the title of Primordial Gods are the children/creations of the old Primordial
