Shauna Shipman and Leah Rilke

Obsessive (tend to idolize and obsess over a particular person, as Shauna does with Jackie and Leah does with Jeffrey), smart and observant, unhealthy/rocky relationships, feeling invisible, sweet with a darkness underneath the surface, need to be loved, (also both fucking people named Jeff?)

Misty Quigley and Nora Reid

Socially awkward, have a hard time fitting in, unhinged, highly intelligent and knowledgeable about a wide range of topics, manipulative, and they are both the reason their friends are stranded (Misty broke the black box and Nora helped set up the experiment).

Taissa Turner and Rachel Reid

Ambitious, determined (sometimes to a fault as this determination to succeed can hurt themselves and/or those around them as we see with Tai breaking Allie’s leg and driving herself mad with her political campaign and Rachel’s ED/almost drowning Leah for the sake of finding the black box), smart, headstrong and stubborn, reliable and loyal, hard working.

Lottie Matthews and Martha Blackburn

Spiritual and in touch with nature, both have visions and hallucinations, kind and good-natured, healing, both have a tendency to comfort and heal others (the parallels between the Lottie and Travis panic attack scene and the Martha and Rachel scene where Rachel is stuck in quicksand are so strong), both have a connection to a person tragically lost after the crash and are guided by dreams/visions of this person (Lottie with Laura Lee and Martha with Jeanette).

ok after my rewatch of the wilds i can’t stop thinking about the girls and in a nod to my roots, here are some headcanons!! mostly music themed

leah is a lorde STAN. melodrama got her through the jeff break up and the louvre was the first song added to her playlist for fatin. hard feelings/loveless was her most streamed song pre-crash, post-crash it’s solar power.

shelby never liked country music until she found sapphic country music. blasts lesbians pop through her and toni’s apartment, chappell roan (she is OBSESSED), zolita, hayley kiyoko, etc. karaokes the giver reguarly. she also loves taylor swift

toni is big on rnb and old school rap. tupac, biggie (ofc), bone thugs. her secret talent is rapping.

nora is a podcast type of girl through and through. that’s why she has so much knowledge, she just listens to people talking about shit 24/7

martha is the type of girl who exclusively listens to 2010s billboard top 100 songs. asides from a few songs she listens to because of toni

fatin is brat summer. charli xcx, that kind of music. also party music, songs she can really dance to. she gets into lana del rey cause of leah. ariana grande, that type of music.

rachel listens to a lot of 90s artists, michael jackson, duran duran, george michael and wham. her aroace blasts last christmas during the winter

dot is metal and rock. need i say more?

karaoke is a regular occurrence and shelby’s favourite group activity (after escape rooms)

speaking of escape rooms, shelby makes the unsinkable eight do escape rooms regularly. they hate it. they go along with it though

toni and rachel play basketball together all the time

after they got properly rescued they requested to stay in the same room because of what happened the last time they thiught they were rescued

when shelby came out to her parents, the unsinkable eight were right behind her to grab her when she started crying

fatin and leah take her brothers out for lunch multiple times a month

toni and shelby get married first, but surprisingly it’s dot and mateo that follow second

nora worked on the team that built a bionic arm for rachel

leah, fatin, and nora are cat people

shelby, dot, rachel, martha, and toni are dog people

every time any of them have to travel, they travel by car. none of them fly on a plane again

My friend got me hooked onto YellowJackets and since I watched the Wilds too, all I can say is that:

Leah would either be eaten first or be like Lottie or Misty. I’m gonna side with Lottie because Leah did go into the ocean.

Dot is def Natalie. She has the whole vibe down minus the abusive dad.

Shelby would be Laura Lee but she doesn’t die and she would be the hunter of the group. She’d be the hunter side of Natalie. I could also see her as Jackie.

Martha, my sweet angel would be Shauna, aka the Butcher.

If Leah isn’t eaten first then it would be Fatin. If not then she’d be Jackie.

Toni is Mari, need I say more?

Rachel is Taissa, both are very determined and passionate.

And Nora? I take it back, Leah won’t be like Misty, Nora would be like Misty.

speaking of the wilds s1, hot take maybe but i lowkey hate how it always gets added into the list of shows that was cancelled because it was a lesbian show. it was cancelled because the people who made it didn’t give a fuck that their audience was mainly female watching because they finally had a show that didn’t center men, and made season two all about men so their audience stopped watching and they flopped.

And yeah I agree, the additional of men was completely unnecessary, not only did they unsuccessfully try to create male counterparts for the unsinkable eight, they also took away significant screen time to characterise and introduce the boys, which also fell flat

I think there would be some flashback (ie. Leatin), I don’t think Nora talks about Rachel a lot
