And it appears I have won- What's this..?
So the Marshadow wants to fight too? They're also surrounded by the same energy that Darkrai has.. So, Riv, is this your last ace? You better hope this one best us or else that buddy of yours won't wake up.
Nothing to say? Fine. Darkrai, finish them off! Declare a burst attack!
((art by my friend @aegislash-logs. I am in love with this piece ))

on regis and his conflict-avoidant tendencies and how that affects angouleme
in my view and headcanons, i find a mentorship between regis and angouleme sweet and a key to their character arc fulfillments, but i also see it as cruel fate that she should become attached to someone as intangible, enigmatic, absent as regis can be.
it's not so much cruel fate for him, but a needed awakening, or maybe even a reminder, of the tangible and real life - tumultuous, violent youth that has no patience or forethought. not so much that these things are good things, but rather that in order for philosophy to have any meaning, it must have elements of action and physical presence.
a flaw of regis' (which he overcomes! canonically!) is that he's conflict avoidant - which causes more conflict which he avoids more in a neverending cycle. this is why he drank in his youth, to numb the senses and ignore personal problems, instead of solving them and moving forward.
he self-describes as a coward, which i think pertains to this sort of thing. the battle of the bridge, for example, was a terrifying hell, though he persisted in doing the right thing and overcoming the 'cowardice'… and when geralt and cahir fight, he's almost non-present (just like the magical long-range scan revealed!), during the fight itself, everyone else has at least a quip of dialogue - geralt and cahir fight, milva breaks it up, dandelion (tries to) soothe the onlookers, angouleme jokes (poorly). regis, however, completely withdraws from the situation until the very end when the dust has settled, and all he says in a cold tone of voice is that everybody keep their hands to themselves and that they should never return to this topic again. when milva and angouleme argue at the kitchen table, he intervenes, echoing the duchess' "united we stand, divided we fall" or "discord ruins, concord builds" (ive seen it translated both ways, it doesnt matter too much). his tone is "placating" and he calls for peace. (god-peace, by the way, is what godefroy means…)
this is why i diagnose regis with being a libra btw. healer class. air sign parent -_-
and towards angouleme. it's a paradoxical obstacle course. angouleme needs space and independence. but she needs support and guidance. but if you tell her what to do she'll flip you off. but if you're not there she'll get upset because everyone in her life has either abandoned her or died. i am shaking regis' hand and wishing him "good luck" and leaving
#free-range is right. girl gets into bar fights and hes like cool next time you can duck like this and go for their legs#c: regis#c: angouleme#the witcher books#analysis#f: i'm not your uncle dear child

ok i'm actually worried that the hansa won't be in the show at all. like everyone in the hansa has very specific roles and relationships with each other and they've already really changed cahir and dandelion and geralt and i don't think they're going to put in the effort or even can reverse all the changes that they made.
i dont think theyre going to be in the show, and i think thats a good thing... i do not want to see people shipping cahir x milva milva x regis regis x cahir geralt x cahir cahir x angouleme jaskier x cahir x milva x jaskier x geralt x angouleme. if someone even looks at the hansa weirdly, i’ll just throw a fit. we’ve already got people shipping jaskier x yennefer and that is fucking Enough that i’ve ever seen from any fandom... i know that they have no qualms with shipping anyone together, no matter what kind of relationship they have in canon, and i do not want to see any of it. i know the hansa will not be a family to them and instead just be an opportunity to make some ridiculous and god-awful ships for fun, and then i will have to see every single post that is made about them because i’m already being forced to see every single geraskier post out there.
i also don’t want to see netflix cahir ever again since he is not worthy of the name cahir mawr dyffryn aep ceallach, and also joey does his best and acts well but the writing for jaskier is incredibly out of character and terrible, and this geralt is not worthy to have ANY friends or company because he’s an all-around jerk.
i literally just don’t want to watch anything having to do with farren-cahir or cavill-geralt because they’re just literally not anything like the characters they are in the books, not even a shadow of their former selves. cahir is an imperialist maniac who’s in his 30s and not a youth who’s been indoctrinated into the military due to societal and familial pressure from a young age. geralt isn’t a good person at heart who’s been forced to withdraw from society and live on its fringes since people fear him due to prejudice. they did a little better with jaskier, but it’s only because joey put effort into combating the bad writing imo, it’s mostly his performance that makes me feel like this jaskier is jaskier-y, the writing completely removed why he’s important to geralt and how he acts generally, how he’s arrogant, how he’s a scoundrel, how he’s an artist...
based upon how the series represents women, i do not trust them to handle milva’s characterization or arc, especially because of how they handled yennefer’s infertility... they would just make her an angry woman and then angry because she was pregnant... they would make her arc just fucking bizarre like they did with yennefer’s, give her absolutely no depth beyond feeling slighted and pissed off all the time, without ever examining why she might feel pissed off at geralt for not taking her advice and being a damned fool
and based upon how the series represents or lacks representing how monsters are supposed to be treated (like... it literally begins with geralt slaughtering the kikimore without a second thought, torque got none of his characterization, borch got none of his characterization, dudu is not even there bc they skipped eternal flame) and also really misrepresented how geralt interacts with post-conjunction creatures in general and also the male peers important to him in his life, i don’t trust them to do regis. i will watch the episode that adapts a grain of truth during the next season to see how they handle vereena, and thus vampires in general, but i don’t believe that it is going to be good... they’ve already sexed so many things unnecessarily up, i have a feeling that they’re going to sex vereena up and the thought makes me upset.
but yeah i mean can you even imagine netflix trying to tackle the nuance that milva and regis have as characters. not even their nuance but the messages that they carry. and explaining why they are like how they are... i mean they couldnt explain geralt and yennefer and ciri, yennefer i might be persuaded to understand a little because she’s incredibly complex, but really how hard is it for them to give depth on their very main characters and say that they are traumatized and because of that they have difficulties with forming relationships
i would hope they would get cancelled before they reach tower of the swallow, but if they do do angouleme they’d likely age her up and also give her heavy makeup and just generally ruin her character by making her less scampy and scrappy, make her more into a “proper girl” like they did with ciri, they didn’t even let ciri be a kid and have funny moments, how can angouleme be funny if ciri wasn’t even allowed to be funny...
tldr: netflix ruins any nuance and kindness in the witcher’s characters, if they come near the hansa i’ll begin to bark like a rabid dog

Like what if everyone was switched, a witcher turns into a human or in gearelts case most likely a magic white wearwolf to some degree or ciri being a full blown sorceress or is turned into a succubas. Like switching the races up a bit
ah, okay. I know this isn’t the point of this question but I can’t see anybody as anything but what they are, and doing so would somewhat ruin the entire point of the witcher. very long explanation as to why under the cut.
geralt’s character at the start of the books is largely self-loathing; his entire arc is about him overcoming this hatred and learning that there are people who love and appreciate him for who he is, flaws, insecurities, and all. the witcher as a whole, ultimately, is about found family and parenthood. his self-hatred stems from the fact that he sees himself as a monster, which comes directly from his being a witcher, a violent profession which most humans fear, and a large part of his internal character conflict comes from the tension between his pacifist nature and the fact that he was raised to be a killer. geralt often wonders if he’s any better than the monsters he kills, but what we see through his thoughts, words, and actions is that he’s incredibly human, despite being a witcher: he’s sarcastic, moody, and whines a lot. he’s also incredibly kind and compassionate towards his friends, whose best friend is his complete opposite and shows him how to have fun and enjoy others’ company, and who always strives to be a good person even if he thinks he isn’t (he is). this witcher, a non-human, acting so very much like one is shown in direct contrast to actual humans, like the peasants or nobles such as foltest, being monstrous. so geralt being either a human or a literal monster is either incredibly ill-fitting or in extremely poor taste. yen’s character is very similar: her past trauma continues to affect her; she thinks she’s unloveable, and so has closed herself off, afraid that letting anybody close will only serve to hurt her. to this point, she’s seen by most as cold and inhumane. but like with geralt, we see that yennefer is incredibly human. she’s a mother who cares fiercely for the ones she loves and will stop at nothing to keep them safe.
with regards to ciri, I first want to note that sorceresses aren’t a separate race - they’re very much human. continuing, in the witcher, characters are very tied to their professions, to the point that teaching one’s trade to someone else is a sign of love and family (more on that here). ciri defining herself as both a sorceress and a witcher is symbolic of her defining herself by both of her parents’ professions, of yen and geralt passing down their knowledge to their daughter (professions which, in turn, were passed from their parents to them). to pick just one or the other would dismiss the fact that they’re both her parents. as to her being human, ciri is set up to be a stereotypical Chosen One (and also the incarnation of death itself but that’s another matter), what with being a child of the elder blood, destined to stop the white frost and all that. but really, she’s just a regular girl.
a similar concept applies to most of the hansa. dandelion’s just a human, and a bard, at that. he offers nothing combat-wise and only has his songs and friendship, but these turn out to be useful skills as discussed earlier since these are the things that really help geralt. milva’s an incredibly skilled archer, but she’s also just a peasant woman. cahir’s whole deal is that he’s not some scary black knight, he’s just a guy in his early 20s who’s trying to unlearn the things that his former privilege and social rank have taught him and make up for the bad things he’s done. angouleme serves as a symbol of human abandonment and also human cruelty, both as she experienced it and as she dealt it to others. regis is really only a vampire for two reasons: first, he serves as a metaphor for alcoholism, and had he not been a vampire [spoilers for baptism of fire] he couldn’t have come back for his redemption arc after being beheaded. second, like geralt, the fact that he’s a very humane “monster” serves as a contrast to monstrous humans. the witcher is also a story about fantasy trope inversions, and regis is no exception; much of his character is entirely vampire tropes flipped on their head, including him being a healer.
again, probably not the answer you were looking for, but for me changing the species would fundamentally alter these characters in a way that just doesn’t make sense.
edit: also ciri is a literal child in the books please never suggest anything about her being a succubus ever again thank you

God’s Blight
A/N: This is being posted early because I’ve been still tying up some loose ends with Ties that Bind and Gladio has been a little shit lately lol. This is the last arc of my World in Ruins series, and I’m so happy to start back posting this fic again! The hiatus helped out a lot!
Chapter 1: Gladio: Recovery
The wind brought a chill with it when Gladio finally pulled up to the latest outpost. It was only a single building, likely just to keep emergency provisions, but he had come here not for that, but merely as a checkpoint for his travels. As he got off his motorcycle, he could already hear the sounds of hisses from daemons gathering around him. Their eyes reflected back against the body light that Gladio wore. Just by eyeing the creatures he guessed around thirty were here. Although he reached for his greatsword, he already knew how this would end. He felt the vibrations from Titan as the Astral manifested itself and charged towards the horde. As a giant hand swatted the daemons away from the Shield, he couldn’t help but notice his appearances were becoming more frequent. It shouldn’t have been that surprising in hindsight. The further he headed out from Lestallum it was the monsters that ruled - not the people. Although nature had not had a chance to take hold, as Gladio passed city after city it was so strange to see just an absence of people. After Galdin Quay, the higher ups had decided enough was enough. Lestallum would be the new capital and the Crownsguard and Kingsglaive would be moving nearly all of their personnel there to help with the constant construction as people were urged to move to the central location. The hordes were too much to deal with in isolated pockets and Galdin Quay was an indication that the worst was yet to come.
As the last of the daemons were dispatched, he heard the language from the Astral again. He still couldn’t understand what Titan was trying to say, but the gentle look in his eyes seemed to always say “I’ll protect you.”. Balling up a fist, Gladio gently bumped his fist against the Astral’s foot. “Thanks again big guy.” In a strange way, he attributed the Astral to mostly keeping him alive these days. He had been becoming increasingly unhinged when he had come back from Galdin Quay shortly after the horde attack. Gladio should have been dealing with the logistical side of things when people were being relocated there, but he had been given a reprieve from his duties. Even thinking about that day, a hand went up to his cheek recalling that conversation between himself and Cor.
He had given his report about the state of Galdin Quay, although he had spent three days trying to find any signs about where Ignis could have gone. There was nothing though, only the outline of footprints from where Prompto had faced off against Ardyn that lead to a parking lot where the Kingsglaive held their vehicles. From there… it was impossible to say where the pair had gone since they had disappeared in the ensuing chaos from the horde. Gladio couldn’t just search Eos blind, he had put effort in finding out everything that he could about what Ardyn was doing here before he could make any moves and so he did.
The name Emus was of course an alias, the real man that Ardyn had impersonated had been MIA for six months before he showed up on Angelgard after Noctis had disappeared in the crystal. Strangely enough though from speaking to the Kingsglaives that had interacted with Ardyn, it seemed that the persona that he took on was acting not to harm anyone at all. If anything, his motivation seemed to be simply keeping the daemons away from Noctis. Ardyn’s success with keeping the monsters away had earned him praise among those in his rank and even his superiors, but the Usurper never tried to do anything more with his status by climbing the chain of command. This wasn’t the behavior of a spy or even someone intent on espionage. When Gladio listened to the recording of that night of the horde attack, it seemed to hint that too. Ardyn could have harmed Talcott, Prompto, Ignis… any of them at any moment of time, but he hadn’t.
From what Gladio could make out, Ardyn was forcing Ignis to be in his company for his own deviant pleasure. Several Kingsglaives had mentioned the pair together often, and had come to the same conclusion he reached when he saw Ignis’s bruises at Hammerhead: they were sleeping together. And again the question as to why was on the recording… he was protecting everyone from Ardyn. It was nothing more than an exchange. Given that the Usurper couldn’t be killed it was horrifying, yet explained why Ignis had kept his silence about the affair. What had given the Shield pause though, was why did Ardyn go through the trouble to kidnap Ignis in the aftermath? People were nothing more of amusements to the monster. Yet for some reason, Gladio sensed there was something else going on besides an exchange of pleasure that caused him to confront Prompto or show Ifrit - an Astral that no one had seen since the Inferian had shown up in during Regis’s reign several years ago.

Witcher Books Ending Anon!
Putting your ask under the cut just in case, because I know some followers of mine just follow the TV series and don’t want spoilers. (Trying to figure out how to tag for this is weird, because the books have been out for like... 20 years so...)
Look below if you want spoilers.
Hi! So I didn’t interpret it as Yennefer and Geralt dying--it seemed like they were on Avalon to me. The wiki article I linked to explains the legend behind Avalon; that’s how I interpret it. But it’s possible they died and it was the afterlife.
But, the hansa. Yeah. I pretty much screamed every single page during that chapter and was like SAPKOWSKI NO STOP WHY SAPKOWSKI HOW DARE YOU SAPKOWSKI MEET ME OUTSIDE I JUST WANNA TALK. Like, honestly. you tease my ship and THEN
I think Yennefer and Geralt’s ending fits thematically, because Ciri needed to grow up and be able to make her own choices, but without being cruelly forced to in the same way as their earlier separation. The hansa’s... it doesn’t not fit, since the themes of The Witcher aren’t “live no matter what” but rather “choose your destiny by chasing hope,” which is why you kind of get to choose what you think the ending for Yennefer and Geralt is, and is what Milva, Cahir, Regis, and Angoulême all died doing. And, at the very least, they all got what they wanted and died in moments of hope, their best moments even, rather than in moments of utter despair as their worst selves (cough Bonhart cough, or even the Rats).
Is it the ending I wanted? No. Did I find it satisfying? I personally did, but I also don’t love deaths in fiction unless you absolutely have to do it, so... I wish they hadn’t died. Especially Milva, Cahir, and Angoulême, since they were more child-coded (and especially the latter two of that). My general opinion is that I don’t think killing them sent a terrible message that ruined their arcs or the stories’ themes. But neither did killing them add anything to the plot, so no, it wasn’t entirely necessary and if I think about it, it does seem a little forced so Ciri could enter a new world by herself at the end.
Tl;dr I don’t hate it, but I also think killing all of them, especially the hansa, is a valid critique and isn’t, imo, the best choice. But that’s in part affected by my preferences of being kind to characters (also death wasn’t really the most important theme in the story, despite being very present, so unlike, say, Harry Potter, which very much deals with death, I’m not sure the hansas’ deaths contributed thematically, so again, not super necessary).

Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Fanfic Recs
so yeah I figured I should get around to making a list of some of my faves to promote them, I’ve got a big enough collection of bookmarks now. in no particular order. not all of them are necessarily complete or alive
Final Fantasy VII
The Gold Saucer’s Golden Arches by belderiver
Before he doomed the world to ash and ruin, Sephiroth wanted a burger.
note: Sephiroth + sudden hunger pang = mcgold
Meetings by Yinza
Aeris reflects on her few encounters with Sephiroth over the years since her escape from the lab.
note: Aerith having known Sephiroth before is just one of my favorite headcanons
lather, rinse, repeat by annperkinsface
She knows she shouldn't confuse this act of kindness for anything else, but it's hard, when Aerith is draping a towel over her shoulders, when Aerith is warm at her back, humming as she works a thick lather across her hands.
note: adorable Aerti. Aerith being a weirdo. Tifa blushing and being kinda horny. perfect. in case you couldn’t tell I ship it.
In Circles by Larissa
Tifa hates Midgar, and yet she stays, and she stays, and she stays.
Character study/pre-game gap-filler. Written for the Tifa Zine.
note: beautiful mood piece
the nodding golden tansy by Kieron_ODuibhir
“You think this troubles me?”
“Yes,” said Cloud, without looking up from his tea.
note: one of my fave takes on Seph and Cloud’s relationship. wonderfully quiet and melancholy.
not one before another by Kieron_ODuibhir
1) Sephiroth almost corrected the first person who called Aerith his sister, a woman they’d met before they were even out of Midgar’s slums complimenting him on taking such good care of her, while their mother shopped.
2) The other half of Project S took after their father.
3) Blue eyes contemplated him narrowly for several seconds, and then Genesis’ smirk came back, lying on his face more easily, somehow. “So brothers-in-arms to the skirmish shall we hence?”
4) It felt wrong to be relying on anybody but Mother, but Mother…only cared about Sephiroth, and it wasn’t fair. Loz sniffled. “Will she take care of Yazoo, too?”
5) “I’m glad he’ll have a big brother,” she said, as Sephiroth crossed the room. “Little ones always need someone looking out for them.”
Sephiroth nodded, and bent forward, and peered at the squashed little pink thing until it stirred, objecting probably to cool air on its face. “What’s his name?”
“Cloud."
(Five times in five worlds where Sephiroth was somebody's brother, and one where he wasn't anymore.)
note: exactly what it sounds like. personal fave is 4.
Angels Still Have Faces by Kieron_ODuibhir
On the fourth day, Sephiroth looked out a window and spotted his two friends together on one of the outdoor training fields, once again exchanging harsh words, only for Angeal to wheel around and storm off at the end.
note: fics where someone other than the main character time-travels are amazing and this is that and also outsider pov mother bear Sephiroth who doesn’t know what pizza is
Final Fantasy IX
puppet play by zalzaires
starting a drabble collection for ffix. i mostly just write about kuja so hence the name.
note: my personal fave is "curtains, bookends, stars of the show” because Kuja is such so... Kuja in there
Final Fantasy XV
ffucc the wedding by Givethemtriumphnow
Gift for Victortor, inspired by their fabulous ffucc Universe.
Noctis and Luna are the same person, one soul split into two bodies.
In a world where everyone lives and nothing hurts, the wedding is still a symbol of the peace, and the show must go on. Noct and Luna just can’t wait for what comes afterwards: the Big Reveal.
note: I just really like the one person two body trope okay? pretty entertaining read!
Poor Wayfaring Stranger by lithos_saeculum
Out on a mission, Cor Leonis finds a teenager, lost and sick and partway to becoming an MT. Against the advice of all and sundry, he brings him back to Insomnia. There's not a lot of love lost for MTs in the Citadel, but some of its inhabitants may still be young enough to put aside their prejudices.
note: also on my list of likes is MT Prompto trope, and honestly fuck canon that’s just there for inspiration. TW for implied pedophilia and stranger danger in one of the later chapters.
Will You Be There, Standing at the End of the War by Adel Mortescryche (Mortescryche)
When they're attacked by the Imperial Forces at Tenebrae, Regis wasn't prepared to be rescued alongside Noctis, Lunafreya and Ravus by the Commanding General of the enemy forces. Not after the man already cut Sylva down before them.
He was even less prepared for the face lying in wait behind the mask.
He dropped down to one knee, and rather pointedly cupped the left side of Drautos’ head, delicate, making no move to actually hide the fury raging through him.
“Talk, Titus.” Regis whispered. “Before I take this airship down from the sky.”
note: Drautos time-travels and is an absolute bastard. I like seeing his and Regis’s exchanges!
For Want of a Flan by magicgenetek
For want of some patience, Ifrit never freed Ardyn from Angelgard to rebel against the Astrals.
For want of Ardyn, Nifleheim never invented MT Troopers.
For want of MT Troopers, Lunafreya and Ravus were able to escape with Regis, and Nifleheim never cornered Lucis in their war.
For want of a kidnapping, Luna, Noctis and Prompto were able to work together to get ready for the prophecy, and Ravus is ready to suplex an Astral to make sure someone survives the prophecy.
For want of separation, the four of them go to Angelgard to figure out what secrets lay there, and accidentally adopt Ardyn into their plans to save the world.
For want of 2000 years’ prep time, Ardyn’s going to have to get up to speed on the modern world fast if he wants revenge or to fulfill his half of the prophecy.
note: has a good deal of worldbuilding and linguistics nerdery. I like that. I also like the recovery element of Ardyn’s arc.
A Little More Time by Asidian
The sun is brilliant overhead – set in a blue sky dotted with clouds that float like wisps of spun sugar through the high arc of the heavens.
It's more than lovely. It's entrancing, and Noctis takes one long, final look before he turns his gaze back earthward. His vision dances with sunspots for a moment, afterimages from the blinding light – but when it clears, Noctis sees a small black dog there, patient and watchful as always.
Umbra has been waiting.
"Alright," Noctis says. "We're ready to go back."
note: short, punchy, and absolutely chilling
Eschaton by nirejseki
Sure, it's the end of the world, but that just means someone's got to fix it.
And then the world found its somebodies.
(aka, with Noctis gone into the Crystal and no one sure when he'll be back, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto end up saving the world one piece at a time)
note: I like worldbuilding and MTs alright? and schoolteacher Gladio will never not be funny/great
Astra Inclinant by thekindmagic
“Look,” Aranea laughs, shaking her head. “I’m not trying to shit on your destiny. But the way I see it? A lot of the time, there’s no big mystery. You either keep going, or you don’t.”
note: how could I not rec femslash? beautiful melancholy mood. I’m so sad for Luna
Starlight and Shadow by ohmyfae
While Noctis and his friends are setting up camp, Ardyn Izunia happens to accidentally stumble onto the runes of their haven. The magic of the haven pulls him into two halves; One is Ardyn, a small child with a bit of an ego and a limited knowledge of the world at large, and the other is the Scourge, shambling and groundless, determined to seek out its former host and consume the light it finds there.
note: fun read!
On the Care and Keeping of Prompto by ohmyfae
Congratulations! You have been chosen to ensure the well-being of PROMPTO, who is: 1. An absolute darling. 2. Of more intrinsic value than you, your significant other, your ancestors, and the world at large. 3. Two years and four months old 3a. This is very important to remember 4. Behind you.
note: also a very fun and fluffy read! also the fic that introduced me to the amazing crackship of Ardyn and Cor, and I say crackship but... I want more of it
Kingdom Hearts
The Price of Melodrama by LawnNinja
Xemnas never imagined that one of the hardest parts of his plan would be the stupid names.
note: deny it all you wish but you know this happened. also XULORD
(i don’t need you to) Worry for Me by Cygna_hime
In a fit of defiance and desperation, Vanitas disobeys his Master's orders and goes looking for the missing half of his heart. He finds it, and something else as well, something he never expected to find anywhere...
note: I absolutely love this I’ve read this like... 3 or 4 times? go read it now
Bleeding Heart by keelahselai
Xemnas was fundamentally a bad person. Born from the fracture of Xehanort's heart, he had only caused pain to those he banded together with under the promise of finding a way to return all their hearts. He shattered the Organization he'd founded for his own gain, and he understood this with cool indifference. But beneath everything, carefully kept folded away and hidden from Xigbar's prying eye, he was also made from the other inhabitant of Apprentice Xehanort's body. And as troubling as it could be to their plan, he kept it hidden from all.
(Or, how Terra managed to keep his head above the water for thirteen years)
note: I absolutely love the.. I don’t know what it’s called, but let’s say Terramas even though that sounds like a ship name... I absolutely love that trope. this one has such just a great mood y’know?
By Choice or Chance by Six_Piece_Chicken_McNobody
Lazy afternoons are a universal phenomenon.
note: I just love Xehaqus’s tragedy. this is nice, fluffy, and one of them is going to murder the other in his own selfish lust for power. (I know III said Xehanort had other motivations but I just love the “he’s such an utter bastard that all his relationships are going to end disastrously” interpretation)
Whatever Will Be by NanakiBH
Once I tell you the words I've been unable to say, it will be goodbye.
note: more explicitly melancholy mood than last one, still great.

It's been fun going down here and talking with Riv. Especially since we got a small "guide" with us. Note, I think that's the nickname we settled for them.. Death Note is a strange name for an Unown.
We'll compile all the pictures we took and look around here a bit more and then head back up.

My Top Ten Favorite Characters: Fandom/Character Meme!
I got tagged by @tessa1972 months and months ago for this and figured I stalled on this meme long enough. So finally, I’m getting around to posting this. None of these characters are in particular order and none of the gifs belong to me.
Dorian Pavus:
There were way too many possible gifs for him to show how awesome, witty, clever, expressive and beautiful he is. I love his character and backstory, he’s a great companion to have around in battles and his romance with M!Inquisitor overloads me with feels. Dorian never fails to amuse me with his wit and comebacks.
Carth Onasi:
So much sass, humor, fight, and emotion all wrapped up in this angstmuffin of trust issues, accompanied by a sexy voice. He was my first video game love ever, I will never forget how his voice made me melt and simply wanted to listen him talk forever. I like his romance with Revan (F!Revan in the game but I like the idea of him falling for Revan of both genders because their interactions and the story behind them falling in love are just so beautiful). They say you’ll never forget your first. They’re right, I’ll never forget Carth Onasi.
Éowyn of Rohan:
You tell them, Eowyn. I loved her character both in the books and the movie and when my dad always told me the whole story of the Lord of Rings (way before the movies came out), I was always fascinated with Eowyn and wanted to be just like her, to slay the Witch King, continue to kick ass, and be a warrior. She is my baby, I’ll defend her ‘til the very end.
King Gangrel:
Where do I begin with this ginger trash king? He was such a riot and so unapologetically terrible while enjoying every minute of it. His history and reasoning behind his motives (at least, what small amounts the game shared with us) were fascinating and I was soooo glad we could recruit him later. And he totally shoved my plan to support/romance Walhart out the door (I’ll wait for my fourth playthrough) because his conversations and general personality were such a pleasure to read and laugh over. I love chaotic, goofy characters like him and it sweetened the deal where one of my Avatars could romance him. XD
Varric Tethras:
He stole my heart the moment he made his first appearance in Dragon Age 2. Stupid swagger, chest hair, charming grin and wit, and crafty mind ruining my life! A wonderful, faithful friend, a successful writer and storyteller, and a wicked shot with a crossbow--he has it all and so much more! Bioware let me romance him or dwarves again, I need this.
Garrus Vakarian:
Garrus, my man, you are a wonderful friend and romance option, you keep stealing my heart every time I read your lines to Shepard. XD
I loved his growth from ME1 to ME2 and then, ME3, showing how far he has come and how much he has achieved. I loved his loyalty to Shepard no matter how difficult or harrowing things became and was such a reliable, supportive comrade-in-arms. He had those moments were he could one smooth operator and then turn around to be an adorkable cutie pie. And still be a badass sniper no matter what.
Catelyn Stark:
She is one of my favorite characters in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. Catelyn is a flawed character, and her story, her journey, and overall character gripped every time I read her chapters. This woman as underwent through so much, even as a young girl, and lost even more as well. She is such a strong character who tries to keep her family safe, balance multiple roles as mother, wife, protector, emissary, sister, etc., recognize and point out the unfairness of the patriarchy in Westeros’s society, and is one of the few voices of reason in this whole series. I know she has made some mistakes and isn’t perfect and that’s what I want. Favorite characters of mine are never perfect, they struggle and don’t always do the right thing according to a modern perspective, but their overall character psyche compels me regardless. And Catelyn Stark is one of those characters and because of her complexity, she gets a lot of hate for it. But not here, not on my blog. I love Catelyn Stark, who was such a force in life that now, in her undead life, she wreaking havoc on those who betrayed her, her son, and the House Stark and Tully. I just hope she can find some peace at the series (yeah, fuck you, Game of Thrones, I won’t forget your crappy depiction of her and Stannis).
Vernon Roche:
One of these days I will actually play The Witcher 2 in its entirety and read the books but that won’t stop me from basking in the glory that is Vernon Roche. His complex, flawed character fascinated me and I really liked how his friendship with Geralt grows in the game, even if you pick Iorveth’s route, he still goes out of his way to help Geralt out. I also liked how he immediately suspected Geralt was innocent of Foltest’s death and his training, care, and relationship with Ves, his most trusted soldier. I just love what a BAMF he is and his route was my JAM! I loved how little Anais trusts him and how he will do everything in his power to keep her safe and win her crown and throne back for her. Uggh, so many feels!
Also, if you want to know when I realized how much I loved this character, I’ll tell you. It was near the end of the second game, where Vernon Roche brutally castrates Dethmold with his bare hands and then gives him a bloody end. I kid you not, my mind whispered, “I think I’m in love.” XD
Dettlaff:
Apparently in the Witcher universe, I like the hot tempered men. XD
Oh how I love this broody, tormented, and romantic High vampire so much that I can’t even imagine going through the endings where he dies and Regis is an outcast among his own kind, doomed to be hunted. Nope, nope, nope!
Anyway, I loved watching his struggles, his friendship with Regis and how he saved him from being a pile of goo, how deep and far he loves go for love or to protect those he cherishes--even for a woman who clearly doesn’t deserve him--, and down the little things, like his creativity (like his toy shops) or how fond he is with kids and they to them. I just want my high vampire to happy, okay?
Haruno Sakura
Canon screwed her over so hard and she deserved better than what Kishi gave her (I’m sorry I will never not be over this and will be salty even when I’m dead). Her character arc and development in the beginning was interesting to watch, especially when Shippuden came around and we saw the fruits of her labor under the apprenticeship of Tsunade. I’m amazed how hard Sakura had to work be seen and treated as a shinobi, especially when her training was neglected when she was young and a mere genin. I really liked her personality, how far she came since the first volume, and Sakura could have had the proper story and ending if Kishi knew how to write women and actually cared about his main heroine in Naruto. Will I be bitter about this like 100 percent dark chocolate and revel in fanfictions and fanon ideas? You betcha!
I’m tagging anyone who wants to do this!

(Gary anon) We usually don't get more than 1-2 full battles per series anyway. AG lucked out with 3, but it was squeezed into 4 episodes [and it's not the most memorable]. (I only see it happening if Mustard shows up; probably for more Leon backstory. For Crown Tundra, I highly doubt we'll get Peony and Nia) Kiawe is another candidate, I know some wanted something between him and Ash during the League. (Heh, still don't think he's showing up this week; since he's set)
.
(Part 2) (for June, but a mention is certain likely. Concerned what this means for Tokio) If the magazine scans are anything to go by, that may be the case cause the color-coding of the ruins they're standing in. Heard this could be a 2v2, so this definitely a team-up. (With little to no signs of jobbing happening. Maybe Tyranitar redemption or something new?) I see they also made a winter coat version Gary's jacket, poofy hoodie. xD (With this potential capture, this would probably)
(Part 3) (make him the only rival who's caught a pseudo-legend AND a legend. It would also mean a full team, still don't he's keeping the Regi passed Mew, but who knows. Really hope this episode doesn't mean him wanting to suddenly catch Mew afterwards)
(Part 4) Speaking of Goh, while he still has help here, this would be the first time he's pulling at least half of the weight for a legend capture. But I'm sure complaints will still roll in anyway, no matter the execution. (The sooner Paul appears, the sooner we all can relax. Not fond all of the "Lake Acuity Battle Redux" speculation surrounding him)
Yeah. Makes sense.
Alas.
Ooh, Kiawe too!
Oh, I didn't even think about what these future events we know about might mean for Tokio. I do wonder what's going to happen with him.
Ooh. Heck yeah, a team-up! Eager to see how that plays out.
Gary's finally dressing in a way that makes sense for the climate he's in! Character development! :D Joking aside, I need to see that. Something to go looking for in a little while.
Ooh, interesting. Good for him. Whether he ends up keeping it long-term or not.
That is a problem I... did not consider. Yeah, hopefully not.
Ah, the Goh situation. The Suicune capture made people so jaded that I've seen people saying they don't want to see another legendary capture again. (Though it's probably going to happen again regardless.) Hopefully things go well enough this time to keep complaints to a minimum.
Yeah, thinking about Paul's return gets me a little nervous and it'll be a relief when it happens and we don't have to worry or speculate about it anymore. The arc of he and Ash's rivalry was so powerful and I don't want to see that cheapened.

Persona 5 verse for Pit
Name: Pit Steelland Nationality: Third generation American Japanese (Grandparents are american, but immigrated to Japan. He and his dad were born in Japan. His mother is japanese) Parents: Regis and Riko Steelland Age: 17-18 years old Occupation: Shujin academy student. Phantom Thief. Boxer. Arcana/confidant: Inner Strength Melee weapon: Gloves/gauntlets/hand wraps to cover his fists Ranged weapon: Bolt action rifle Persona: Muhammad Ali. Awakened Persona: Heracles
Design of Persona: A large stone golem with Ali’s trademark boxing gloves and shorts. The gloves both have the name Ali on them. The persona represents Pit’s inner strength and his love of boxing, as well as the future he wants. Which he wishes to become a geologist.
Design of Awakened Persona: Similar to the design of Heracles from Shin Megami Tensei II. Except instead of the tattoos and the metal objects connected. And the clothing he wears is more akin to Greek clothing of that time period. Heracles’s hands are covered in a wrapping as well to represent his fist fighting skills.
Phantom Thief outfit: Pit’s thief outfit is quite simple. He is wearing a sleeveless lab coat to reveal his muscles and toned chest and stomach. As well as some black jeans, and sneakers. The outfit is also showing his rebellion of not wanting to become a boxer like he thinks his parents want him to be.
Personality: Pit’s usually quite cold due to an incident that happened to him. Once the protagonist and the gang help him with his problem and he joins the phantom thieves he opens up and goes back to his old personality. Of a kind, and caring person. He is also quite smart, usually scoring really high in his class as he wishes to get into a good college so he can learn geology.
Background: Pit grew up in life with all the love he could get from both his mother and father. Growing up Pit and his father Regis and his mother Riko both spoiled him as much as they could. His father being a second generation American Japanese was able to join the police force where he met Riko who was already a detective. They hit it off quite easily and were quick to fall in love and marry. Pit was born and was smothered in love the moment he was born. During his childhood. Him and his father frequented a gym where Regis taught Pit how to box. Pit was a fast learner and quite talented. As he got older he got better. Soon enough becoming a boxing prodigy. By the time he was considered someone to watch for in the boxing world. Pit had already made up his mind. He decided he didn’t wanna become a boxer, but to become a geologist. Though his father seemed so happy to see him become an amazing boxer that he encouraged his son to make a career out of it. Which caused Pit to hide his true feelings to boxing. All he saw boxing as was a hobby and a way to spend quality time with his father who had to work a lot like his mom did.
He wasn’t bothered by them working so much, he was just bothered by the fact his parents seemed to want him to do what they wanted and not what he wanted. Though the happiness of Pit’s family life would be soon torn apart by a fellow police officer by the name of Bunji Higuchi. Who was madly in love with Riko, but to Bunji. Regis stole her away from him. So he devised a plan to ruin the happy family so he could get her to leave Regis and come crawling to him.
He hired a homeless man to mug Pit. When the homeless man mugged Pit, Pit ended up beating up the mugger with ease and leaving him seriously injured, but not enough to kill him. Or so Pit thought. After the fight Bunji came to help Pit and told him to run off and not to worry about anything. As he saw everything and could get the report done. Pit did as Bunji said and went home. Though Bunji finished off the homeless man by strangling him with some gloves on, as to hide his finger prints. He filled the report as Pit had killed the mugger, but labeled it as self defense. This put suspicion on Pit’s father Regis who was trying to get the police chief position against Bunji. The suspicion of if he taught Pit how to get away with killing and if it really was a self defense case and Pit not taking out his anger on a homeless man. This allowed Bunji to obtain the position, and once there. He used his status to ruin Regis’s police life. Taking him down a few ranks and giving him less and less work time. While doing this he tried to hit on Riko, but Riko didn’t even give him the time of day. To that Bunji also began to cut Riko’s hours as well and took her off a bunch of cases. Only giving them to her if she gave him ‘special time’.
This all happened without Pit’s knowledge. The whole mugging incident happened during Pit’s second year at Shujin academy, garnering him the title of ‘killer’. He was subject to many rumors and lies spread through the school. People isolated themselves from him as he soon lost all his friends. He took it in stride as he focused on his studies even harder and soon enough becoming one of the smartest students in school. As for Pit’s boxing career he decided to put up his gloves and never box again. As well as never fight again. He took a vow of pacifism as to make sure he never kills someone again. Since he does believe he is a murderer like Bunji wants him and everyone to believe.
Story arc: Pit ends up meeting the Protagonist of Persona 5 through the rumors of him killing a person in self defense, and his amazing boxing skills. Morgana suggests to try and talk to Pit and see if the protag can get on his good side to learn about some fighting techniques for their time in the metaverse. When confronted Pit tells the protagonist to meet him in the alley near school where no one will catch them. Reluctantly the protagonist goes thinking to have Ryuji come for back up at the press of a button, but Pit surprises him by just telling him to punch him. After the Protagonist punches Pit he mocks the protag. Saying his punches need a lot of work and couldn’t harm a fly. After that Pit explains how he’ll help, but still not swing once at the protagonist. After a few days. Pit calls off the training as he and his family are in dire need of help. Which causes the Phantom Thieves to being their next case. After learning about Bunji Higuchi and how he’s purposefully not giving time to his father or mother. The thieves try and find him in Mementos. Though to the surprise of the thieves they get a hit and find out Bunji has a palace.
A few more days of school and the protagonist gets more and more information out of Pit. Learning that Bunji is the police chief and his father is a police officer and his mother is a detective. Luckily for them, his parents have no interest in the phantom thieves. Thinking they haven’t done anything wrong just yet. After their meeting Pit says he needs to get to work, and that he’s running out of time to get money for his parents to help with the bills, The deadline to help Pit before he and his parents get kicked out of their house and become homeless. Three weeks. As the team tries and think of what Bunji thinks of the police station. Yusuke suggests asking Pit about Bunji. Which the protagonist does. Pit reveals that his father always said Bunji thought he was like in his own temple dedicated to him when he was working under him. Which causes the meta-nav to lock onto Bunji’s palace. Which as Pit said. Turns out to be a massive temple. Where he thinks he is a God and he is helping the pitiful humans with his police authority.
The Phantom Thieves begin their navigation to the palace, though what they didn’t know was Pit was nearby walking to the police station as he had a ‘gut feeling’ that the protagonist was up to something, and as usual with his ‘gut feelings’ he was right. He was brought into the metaverse with the thieves. Though he was a little behind them. So as they began to investigate and find a way to the heart of Bunji. Pit wandered around as well. Confused as to why.. All over the temple he saw pictures of his mother Riko in the temple, and why she looked way more regal and beautiful than any human ever could. As if an artist drew her to look like a goddess. Though as Pit got deeper and deeper into the Temple he was soon enough captured. Which caused the Phantom Thieves to try and rescue him. When they arrive to save him from Shadow Bunji. Shadow Bunji reveals he doesn’t wish to harm his ‘son’. Shadow Bunji explains how the great Goddess Riko was stolen from him by the False Prophet, who is Pit’s father Regis Steelland. While explaining this, he also explains how he plans to bring back the Goddess and return everything back to normal. Even welcoming his ‘demi-god’ son Pit into his arms. Which Pit screams and shouts about how Bunji is out of his mind.
While Pit called him out on his sick twisted games. Shadow Bunji calls Pit a ‘half blood scum’ and has his shadows attack Pit. As the shadows push him down and get ready to kill him. Shadow Bunji explains how he set Pit up, and how he actually hired the homeless man to mug him. As well as how Pit didn’t even kill the man, it was in fact him that killed him by strangling him. So he could blame it all on Pit so he could win the police chief vote.
When Pit learns the truth.. He just glares and feels his rage boil inside him. Finally bursting forth as he breaks free of the shadows. Threatening Bunji’s life he says to the man. “You took my happiness away from me, AND NOT JUST MINE! MY FATHER’S AND MY MOTHER’S! ALL FOR YOUR SELFISH WANTS TO BE WITH MY MOTHER!? THAT DOES IT! I’M GONNA FLOSS MY TEETH! WITH YOUR SPINE!” and then he feels his mask appear on his face after he made his first threat of violence in over two years. As he touches his mask he collapses and doubles over in pain. Hearing the voice of his persona. Muhammad Ali.
“So you finally dropped that stupid vow huh? Good! You are a brute after all! No need to hide your true colors.”
As he hears that he gags and begins to punch at the ground.
“Now let’s make this contract! I am thou, thou art I! Your strength has been caged long enough! Your fists chained by lies! Go forth and bring ruin to all those who oppose your freedom!”
Pit finally stops struggling with the pain. Like others before he finally overcame the intense pain and grabbed his mask. His arms crossing as he put his right hand on the left side of his mask, and the left on the right side of his mask.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.. MUHAMMAD ALI!”
With that he rips off his mask and summons his persona, as well as summon his phantom thief outfit. With that he takes care of the shadows Shadow Bunji sent to kill him and the thieves. Causing Shadow Bunji to run off. Though to the surprise of everyone. Pit chases after Shadow Bunji wanting to make good on his threat. Though after a bit of running and Pit not being able to get through a door that Shadow Bunji locked so they couldn’t enter.
Finally getting Pit to calm down they get him out of the palace. Where at first Pit seems unaffected by the whole ordeal he just went through. Compared to how everyone else showed signs of fatigue Pit seemed way more energetic than before. Glad he learned the truth and was now gonna go back to boxing, of course after they finish the job and change Bunji’s heart. Pit is welcomed to the thieves and the team goes to their homes. Which they then learn that Pit immediately passed out once he laid on his bed. All that energy only lasted until that moment. Which the team joked about as the entire conversation Pit’s logo had the typing message symbol next to his name.. Which lasted a good three minutes before it stopped.
When the thieves defeat Shadow Bunji after completing his palace. Pit kicks the shadow’s ass for a bit, though of course he doesn’t kill him. Just gives him a few more punches as Pit lays it into Bunji about how he glorified his Mother as an object of affection and not one of true love. As Pit explained. “You had nothing more than a childhood crush on her and you just couldn’t get over it. IF you really did love her then the happiness she feels now would have made you happy.” That was when Bunji finally realized the truth and his shadow returned to his human self. They escape his Palace as it crumbles and then they get to see the real form of Bunji’s treasure. Which turns out to be a picture of Riko and Regis holding Pit as a baby. Bunji’s jealous desires manifested as he saw Riko in true happiness with the son she loved dearly.
“To think it’d be all my fault that Bunji became so cruel to my family. Hehehe.. Almost kinda funny I’d be the one to take him down and change his heart. With the help of my friends of course.~”
After the change of heart happens. Bunji resigns from his position and turns himself in for corruption, murder, and tampering with evidence. Pit’s father ends up being offered as the new police chief, but he refuses. Since he wouldn’t be able to spend time with his family if he did become the new chief. Though to compensate for all that was done to him and Riko. They received a raise and back pay for Bunji putting them off the clock. Saving Pit’s family from missing out on paying their bills.
Confidant Arc: From that point Pit remains on the team and becomes the protagonist confidant. His entire confidant story line is about how Pit doesn’t wanna be a professional boxer like everyone thinks he has the talent for. He instead wants to become a geologist. Which surprises everyone that learns about it. Though as the confidant story line progresses. Pit gains enough confidence thanks to The Protagonist and he confesses to his family that he doesn’t wanna become a professional boxer and how he wanted to be a geologist instead.
Too his surprise his parents are quite supportive and are actually happy he’s not gonna be a boxer. Pit then explains how he thought they both wanted him to be one and it was why he was nervous to tell them the truth. Which his father Regis got upset at himself as he realized he probably did make it sound like they’d only be proud of him for doing boxing, but he cleared it up and apologized to Pit for doing that to him.
Before both his parents left to go to dinner. His father said to Pit. “You know.. Being a father of a geologist sounds kinda cool~” With that Pit’s parents left and Pit let out a loud sigh of relief. All that worry Pit had was for nothing, and he could now focus a hundred percent on his life’s goal of becoming a geologist.. With some boxing as a hobby. He thought it’d be a fun way to relax. Which he always found relaxing, even if he did get hurt sometimes.
With the confidant quest completed. Pit thanks the protagonist for being his friend and helping him overcome his fears of telling the truth about his dream. He then unlocks his ultimate persona. Heracles. The God of Strength.
