Another memorable scene for me is from the regency au after honora’s birth (I think that’s how you spell her name but I’m terrible at spelling) when Ronnie apologies for having a girl and Jake’s like doesn’t matter that she’s a girl I love her

It seems that the beach scene with the knife is a favorite among a lot of people! And honestly, I get it. I really like that one too. Getting all these asks made me go back and re-read it and MAN....not to toot my own horn but *toot toot bitch*

And the regency au!! Honora's birth!!! Jake being the best girl dad!!! ugh i love them

Topgun AU Ideas

As I was scrolling through the Topgun tag on AO3 the other night, I realized that I was starting to see the same tropes and AUs over & over again. And while not a bad thing at all, personally, I'm just starting to get a little bored of reading the same story over & over.

So I started thinking about what kind of AUs I would love to see in the Topgun fandom and then I started making a list and it kind of spiraled out of control. Oops. 😆

It's My Birthday!

And for my birthday, happy 26 to me, I'm going to post about some Come Over Here and Overwhelm Me AUs because I am looking to be self-indulgent.

Aviator Ronnie AU

She went into the Navy, followed in her father's and her brother's footsteps and became a fighter pilot

Because Maverick learned his lesson with Bradley, he didn't pull her papers when she went into the academy.

Does that mean she is technically ahead of Bradley career-wise? Yeah kinda. Does she lord that over him for all eternity? No...but also yeah she absolutely does.

Her callsign is Trouble, because she likes to take risks that get her in trouble with her superiors, but man is she talented and man does she get results.

Her and Bradley are pretty much a package deal. They work incredibly together as a team. Sometimes she's his backseater, but most of the time they work together as separate Daggers that just know each other's moves and instincts like the back of their own hands.

So does she start sleeping with Hangman the first time around because she KNOWS it will piss Bradley off? Yeah. But she falls in love with him unintentionally and hard.

They're called back to TOPGUN for a secret mission, obviously. They're Rooster and Trouble, the Dream Team as some circles call them.

She isn't mad at Maverick like Bradley is per say, but she is cold towards him. She's always felt like she has something to prove to him. Because she's a woman, because she's Goose's kid, because she's Rooster's little sister. And it's that way with pretty much the whole Navy. She has to fight to get noticed which is why she lashes out and does risky stuff.

So when she doesn't get picked for the Dagger Team she is how do you say...upset? I feel like her and Bradley's relationship is a lot like Kit and Dottie from A League of Their Own.

And who better to comfort her than the man who was also sidelined - Hangman.

In this universe, I don't think they would get back together until after the mission is over. But the whole time they're definitely flirting a lot and are dancing around things. Lingering touches, gazing at each other's lips, that sort of yearning and pining goodness. Does Bradley tell her to just go for it alright once they get back? Yeah.

Regency AU

Bradley and Veronica Bradshaw are of Bennet levels of wealth, able to keep a cook but if Veronica does not marry soon she will be left destitute and as a burden to her brother

Maverick is their wealthy uncle who is constantly trying to help them out money-wise, but Bradley is too proud to accept anything. He's trying to make it on his own, too stressed about finding a good husband for his sister to focus on his own marriage (which Maverick tells him should be his #1 priority)

The rest of the Dagger Team I would say are just like....colorful characters from town that are in attendance at balls and teas and such.

But news of a wealthy man moving to the grand house in the country comes to town, and Maverick is insistent on having Veronica meet the man so there may be a chance of them marrying. It would leave Veronica well off, and Bradley as well by association.

"Who's the man?"

"A Mr. Seresin."

"Oh, absolutely not!"

They were in the infantry together before they were both discharged after the war (whatever war that is don't come at me). Mr. Seresin was conceited and prideful, and just a right out ass to Bradley so of course this is not the man that he wants his sister to marry. No matter how wealthy he is. Bradley tells Veronica to stay away from this Mr. Seresin no matter what.

But somehow, Veronica and Mr. Seresin keep bumping into each other.

On her walk into town, at balls, at luncheons, at church, everywhere she goes he seems to be there.

And more and more, they are falling in love with each other. Because they're so similar, and he explains his former behavior to her, that he's a better, more mature man now than he was then and he wishes that he could apologize to her brother.

Maybe she organizes a hunting trip with Mr. Seresin, her brother, and uncle for some male bonding. Plus Mr. Seresin's land is great for hunting deer and other large game. Maverick gets hurt during the outing and Mr. Seresin literally carries him the entire way out of the forest and ensures that he be well taken care of in his house since it was on his land that the injury happened. This shows Bradley that Mr. Seresin has changed, so when Veronica comes to visit Maverick on his sick bed, Bradley concedes on them marrying.
