I always pictured the inversion site to be a colosseum. Coliseum. The arena. You know which one.

Lovely and Vincent were at the upper boxes at the start. When they got separated, Vincent found Lovely at the rubbles of the ground floor.

David and Asher stood sentry at the main entryway and they could feel the vibrations of thousand footfalls on the seats and stairs as everybody tried to rush out. While the shades were hot on everyone's heels.

When Gavin put up his shield, he and Freelancer were at the outskirts of the arena. His shield was dome shaped to serve as a covering over however much of the arena he was able to protect from shades.

david who has a personal lawyer and a habit of regularly making sure his affairs are legally in order should he meet an untimely end. after his father’s death, he figured it was the least he could do for his mate and his pack.

none of the pack know about it, but it names asher to be first considered for alpha and angel to remain part of the pack, regardless of his fate. all of his physical possessions have a pretty even 50/50 split between asher and angel, except all pack properties and the company, which will be left to milo. anything physical left of his dad’s will go to darlin.

he combs through the will with his lawyer at least once a year, if not, twice

he visited his lawyer directly after the inversion to double, triple, quadruple check that everything was in order and that his mate and family will be taken care of, even if he can’t be the one to do it.

Huxley has burn scars all over his wrist. Actually, it's more so his forearm. The skin is warped and discoloured; some of the flesh is a pale white, almost sickly, the rest a subdued pink. He has to put cream on it twice a day, once in the morning and once just before he goes to sleep.

Its in the shape of a hand.

Damien's hand.

When Huxley was dragged away by the shades during the Inversion, Damien grabbed his arm. He wrapped his hand around his forearm, his nails digged into the flesh, drawing blood. In that moment all his concentration and work and knowledge abandoned him, all those years of study and keeping a careful lid on his emotions were for nought. Because all he knew was the need to get Huxley back to him.

Its difficult to hear above the snarling shades and near constant screams, but Damien does. A hissing. Steam, rising in between his fingers.

For a moment his grip went limp. Red flesh peeked out from beneath his palm, bubbling like magma. Huxley was hauled away from him, even as Damien scrambled to regain both his grasp and his composure, painting burning fingerprints further across Huxley's arm.

Its been years since the Inversion, but Damien can still remember what it felt like. The power underneath his skin, the smell of burning flesh, the roaring in his ears. The complete and utter loss of control. His swears that would never happen again, that he would never let it happen again.

So he throws himself into his work. He refines each one his magics down to a fine point, until it becomes essentially an extension of himself. Its still not enough. It'd never be enough, and yet he works anyway.

It somehow gets worse after the confession. The reminder of how he failed is closer, nearer to the knuckle. Its there when he wakes up in Huxley's arms. Its in the way Huxley looks at him; gentle. With a kindness he doesn't believe he deserves.

But he will. One day. He hopes.

Sam & Darlin HC’s: ft Alexis and Quinn below the cut

Every time they’re in season, Darlin’ buys Sam bouquets of sunflowers

Sam is unsuspectingly good at plaiting hair, and everytime he does it, whether it’s for himself, them or a friend, Darlin’ suspiciously asks where he learnt that from 🤨.

He learnt for his grandmother.

Darlin’ has on multiple occasions bribed workers to keep places open late so that Sam can experience things with them. Aquariums, bowling alleys, you name it.

Whenever Darlin’ can’t sleep, Sam inconspicuously suggests they go sit on the porch swing cause ‘fresh air’s good for the soul’. Works like a charm.

Despite what people might think, Sam is the jealous one in the relationship. Not in an insecure way, juuuust don’t touch what’s his.

Lovely came over to Sam’s most nights Vincent went back on watch duty, after their turning. They’d bring over skincare (face masks etc) for him and Darlin’ everytime. Both of them were equally confused what the fuck an ice roller was and how it was of any use.

Darlin’ is obsessed with Sam’s fireplace and they use it often in winter. Meticulously stacking up the wood, creasing up old news paper pages and using half a pack of matches to get it lit. Sam technically could conjure up enough magic to light it in about three seconds but he doesn’t have the heart to tell them.

The entire time Sam was trapped during the inversion, he kept getting a fuzzy feeling in his chest. He thought it was his magic stores running low but didn’t have time to focus on it.

Do you think the reason Angel stole David's jacket when he came home and found them asleep on the couch wasn't because of Angel being Angel but because they were scared?

David was working late that night, the weather was bad, what if Angel started having flashbacks to the Inversion? What if they started panicking thinking things had gone wrong and no one had told them? What if the only way they could calm themselves down was to wrap themselves up in his jacket like they did during the Inversion, hoping they'd have the same outcome? Hoping that holding themselves in his jacket would bring him home again.

The TV wasn't on because they were watching, it was background noise so they wouldn't be stuck in a quiet house with nothing but their bad thoughts to fill the silence. Just sleep, he'll be back when you wake up. He has to be. They weren't clingy because they were trying to be cute, they were reassuring themselves that he was alive and okay, that he had come home again and everything was alright.

But they didn't want to worry David by saying why they were acting the way they were so they hid it under teasing and jokes, hoping he wouldn't be able to feel how their hands were shaking. Hoping he'd think their fluttering heart was from love instead of anxiety.

His cologne wouldn't be enough. A pillow wouldn't be his warmth around them. It wouldn't he his natural scent from a hard day's work. It wouldn't be him. And in that state of panic, they need him.

But who knows, maybe I'm just overthinking again. That's kinda what I'm known for.

✨~~~~Headcannons That Make No Sense~~~✨

The reason why Treasure did not flinch at all when Porter tells them crazy shit like, "I'm a Vampire" or "I'm being asked to kill people by a tyrant King and I am deathly afraid of him" is because they already knew of the magical world before they met him.

Instead of the hc that they were Darlin's underpowered friend that was attacked, it's actually because they had a group of friends that they were really close to who were all empowered. They were were nice, kind, included Treasure in group outings and did not expect them to set aside their feelings and take care of them. They were everything the new group of shitty friends were not.

Their old group of friends went to the stadium where the games were held and ended up being murdered when the inversion happened. After the news broke, Treasure's shitty college friends reached out to make sure they were okay and would invite them out to things to make sure they weren't lonely--only that was a cover for them to have Treasure be their DD and therapist friend. They stayed with that awful group of friends because they had no one else. They just want to feel as if they belong, like they did with the old group.

That's why Treasure deals with Depression and loneliness.

That's why that pile of laundry sits on their bed, getting bigger as time goes by.
