Hi guys,

As university stuff has continued to pile up I've realised that I'm wholly unable to juggle GGGLU alongside the workload and academic responsibilities.

It feels unfair to leave the game up when I have no plan to update or write in the short or medium term currently and as such I'm contemplating deleting this blog and taking the game down.

It's been a privilege to write and have people enjoy my hobby but ultimately I don't think it's the right time for me to be pursuing my amateur literature career unfortunately.

I loved the way the magic and technology in this fic intersected in such a unique way and the way the world was built was extraordinary!

- The plot of this is just *chef’s kiss* in so many ways!  I love the way the characters interact with each other and I’m weak for Niall and Harry’s friendship in this.

This just came out in the most recent Big Bang (that’s still on going so you should definitely check that out) and this fic is so amazing!  I think it does a great job of just really immersing you in the world the characters exist in.  Love After the End of the World is also a Soulmate AU and I love the way those parts come together.  It also has an amazing prologue called PROMETHEUS RISING (M 5k) that I enjoyed immensely set in the same world!

at last, at last by suspendrs - @suspendrs​ (NR 41k) Locked

“Come with us,” Tommo says, stopping at the other end of the gymnasium, near the doors. “Don’t let them make you suffer any longer. Come with us, and be human.”

   Before Harry has even finished thinking it through, he’s on his feet, gaining the attention of every single person in the gymnasium. What has he got to lose, anyway?

   Or, Harry is born into a cult in a post-apocalyptic world, and Louis is the leader of the rebel group tasked with the mission of shutting them down. Together, they make a rather effective team.

This fic does a great job of making you feel like you’re experiencing with the characters, like I could practically smell what the characters were smelling!  The world it’s set in is so cool and the entire fic feels so well thought out and everything is so consistent!

In a world where memories are used as currency, Louis will do anything it takes for Harry to get better.

I loved the idea behind this. Like the entire world is so brilliantly done! And it was all based on ONE word (because of the wordplay challenge).  Even though it’s set in a different world everything feels so grounded and realistic and I really really like that about it.

In this fic the characters motivations are so clear (to the reader) and I love how it goes from Louis accidentally sort of, kind of, kidnapping Harry to them becoming friends then more.  I also love how no matter where they are the fic has a real sense of place. This is part 1 of landscapes of war.  The entire series is really good!

Who Painted the Moon Black by throughthedark (E 95k) Locked

   “People died,” Harry whispers so quietly Louis strains to hear. “People died, and I killed some of them. How does life just go on after something like that?”

   Louis shakes his head. “I don't know. It just does.”

   Hunger Games AU where Louis Tomlinson is district six's victor from the 69th Hunger Games and Harry Styles is district seven's victor from the 72nd Hunger Games.

This fic is a hunger games AU that both people who have and haven't read/watched the Hunger Games can enjoy. I like how it explores the world of the Hunger Games in a way that isn’t explored in the Hunger Games canon.  It’s really intense (like the E is for the darker themes and violence) and I enjoy it a lot.  There is a happy ending (as the author assures in the tags) and I really enjoy all the struggles that the characters go through.

“The plan is: we’re gonna put on a play. Now, I see some doubtful faces–” Louis looked around and found zero doubtful faces. Liam looked intrigued, Zayn looked bored, and Harry looked scarily blank. “But this is what’s happening. We’re gonna do some fucking acting, we’re gonna perform our hearts out, and we’re not going to think about anything else. The past, the future; none of it. All we’re going to think about is... “ Niall trailed off, eyeing the bookshelf to his left. This is one of my absolute favorite fics.  I just love the way the characters interact and they way the story is told.  It’s nonlinear so you jump around in time and it shows the way the character's relationships change throughout.  I’m a sucker for Much Ado About Nothing and though you don’t need to read it to fully appreciate the fic I think the use of the play throughout is genius.

The thing this fic does really does is showing emotional reactions.  Louis’ inner monologue is so well done and I really like the plot of the story.

I really, really, really, like this plot and the story! The world that the characters exist in is so interesting and I just love the way in which it is a dystopia.

Life Update

My family started vlogging for fun. We even have a camera now for vlogging. Its gonna be so fun.

Im working on a book, a website, and some other media things. Im gonna spread the work to my family if they wanna run some accounts. Also ill probably hire to people who just want experience. Its gonna run $5 - $10 for a video of 10-20mins for an editer. For a social media person im thinking of maybe a few hundred a year to post multiple times a week. Simple stuff. Im gonna start a business.

I feel like im maxing out on this medium. For the stuff I post ive observed tumblr might not be the place for me. Its disheartening to post once a day and reblog content for none to be interacted with. I also feel that tumblr is not the site my potential audience wants to visit. Ive ran surveys on almost all media and mot dont even use this platform. I planned to stay a year but I dont know. I review 15-20 article/videos a day. Maybe only 1 fits the scope and is good enough to post. Thats low theres people that can see over 100 pieces of content and create much more.

I have very low engagement so im creating a new easier to sustain model for the engagment I recerive. Im creating a seperate blog for my family vlogs and another for studyblr. Those side blogs will be updated once a week most likely. This blog will be reserved for tech and finance and will be updated 2-3 times weekly. My twitter will be my daily place to talk and throw posts. A website will be in the works that houses these 3 blogs. I will also be working on a book on my time as a blogger during my Senior Year.

My Dad is going to prison and here is my family’s reactions:

Mom- I love him but he has to learn his lesson.

Me- I have no net feeling. Some good feels some bad feels.

Sister- declined to speak.

My Dickbutt of a physics teacher made science fair harder than it shouldhave been. Im gonna tell him off after I graduate. Like he literally only made it harder on me constantly getting in my way. And hes an asshole robotics coach. So Robotics posts are over unless its new robotic technology.

I have so much new content, maybe.

Dubbing .. a process to correct the sound in film if there is disturbance and external sounds during the time of the shoot .. sync sound is quite common on shoots these days ; a process where extreme caution is taken to create a sound system on the premises of the shoot when all is quiet ! Difficult at times but many a production has been able to achieve this through a most rigorous exercise, using personnel of the production stationed at various portions of the perimeter of the shooting making sure that there is absolute silence, during the timing of the shot  ..

It is by far a most tedious process ! Recereating the same atmosphere, mental and physical conditioning as at the time of the shot, in a sterile individual recording studio, is tough .. 

Many an artist prefer not to dub because it is almost impossible to get the right tone of the performance in a solitary changed atmosphere. But such are the requirements of cinema, that is has become a necessity .. 

Many an artist actually prefer to dub .. it is that one moment for them to improve upon the performance they may have given during the shot .. any correction of word pronunciations, inaudible sound of dialogue, and many other aspects .. 

For me personally I would prefer a system of sync sound ; an atmosphere when the artist can actually hear within what they are expressing and not be disturbed by either the sound of the camera whirring, or any traffic or external sound ...

The Arriflex camera when it came out was lighter and more portable than the Mitchell camera , which was extremely large, and a physical burden to operate .. but the Arriflex made a lot of sound as the film ran on the reel inside the loaded reel .. a ‘blimp’ was then devised which ws worn by the Arriflex as a cap and which reduced the sound to a negligible amount ..

With the Arri camera sound artists had to speak louder than normal, in order for their sound to be recorded, and in turn help in dubbing later .. if the sound track during the shoot is bad, then lip syncing the dialogue was another pain ..

Of course now with advanced sound technology, the absence of film, the doing away with those large camera machines, resorting now to the chip loaded inside digital cameras, where the duration could run for hours .. life has become a lot easier .. otherwise in the early parts of the film industry most shoots were kept in Studios after midnight, when most of the city slept and the noise pollution was very limited .. a normal day in the life of an artist therefore invariably began by the late afternoon or evening .. because they would finish by sunrise and then got back home to rest and get their night sleep, in the day ..

For long, artists were blamed for not being available in the morning hours, for normal meetings or social domestic events .. why .. because they only got to rest and sleep after the sun had risen - they being at work the entire night .. due to the recording of the sound factor ..

Till the early years of my time, if the shoots were to be conducted outdoors, and the recordist wished for sync sound without any disturbance, production would actually programme the shots after ascertaining what time flights took off near by, or train passings were monitored, for their sound would drown the dialogue delivered .. even now at time we have to wait for a flight to go by or a train to pass, before we can register a take ..

BUT .. to get back to dubbing .. it is an art by itself ..

Different procedures are followed. Many artists prefer to stand and dub, many wish to sit and dub .. many insist that in whatever physical condition the shot was taken, sitting or standing they would want the same condition inside the dubbing studio .. place ments of the mike, closeness of the face to the microphone or away from it is all dictated by the recordist .. you may wish to be at a distance that is comfortable for you, but if the recording is not right context to the mike, the dub shall be negated ..

So how does one dub emotional scenes ?? they are a measure of the capability of an artist .. you may have lived the scene at the time of its shooting .. there were other artists present, a scenario conducive to the scene was present to put you in the correct emotional mood .. but in the studio .. nada .. nothing .. one has to imagine the entire process all over again and give the best dis connected emotional take .. and the tragedy is that this is the take that shall be judged as your performance, not what you gave originally .. nah ..

The portion to be dubbed is run on a screen in front of you, in silent mode .. the audio track of the sound of that scene is provided for you in earphone which you wear to get an idea of the words and the sound, and then as you start taking the spoken words need to fall in sync with the lip movements and the emotion of the scene running silently in front of you on screen .. 

There are some very accomplished artists ! They just put on the ar phone, never look at the screen to see if their lips are matching or not, and simply are able to give a audio take absolutely in connect with the lips and the emotion .. them I admire most  .. there are others even more accomplished .. they ask for the shot to be dubbed to be run with audio sound on the screen in front of them, ask the recordist to cut the sound and just go ahead merely looking at the silent screen and have the ability to synchronise the sound to the picture ... !!!

I have none of these abilities .. so I seek forgiveness with my director and beg him not to dub a particular scene that requires dubbing, because I shall be unable to recreate the same effect ..

Case in point : the mirror scene in Amar Akbar Anthony, the drunk scene in Satte pe Satta .. and many more .. 

Technology has made our lives a lot easier .. sync sound is quite prevalent even in noisy streets now .. efficient miniature microphones are stuck inside your being, your shirt your jacket discreetly, unknown or unseen by naked eyes, or the eyes of the camera, batteries that run them are placed even more discreetly inside trouser pockets or clipped onto the back of your garment .. and we are on .. these mike marvels have the ability to pick up sound from distances as also your most intimate breathing ..  becomes a bit embarrassing when we forget that the mike is on 24 hrs , so after the shot is over whatever you may be uttering is getting recorded as well .. hmmm .. even more embarrassing when you forget to switch it off for a toilet break .. !!!

Ahhh .. the vagaries of film making ..

However even after you have given, in your estimate, the perfect sound for a scene in the dub .. it is the sound designer that has the last word .. he will finally mix the film with sound and background music and effects, and your own dubbed sound, which eventually could turn out to be a thousand times better or worse .. according to your standards .. which invariably are never acceptable to the sound designer .. for he has to keep in mind its reproduction in the theatres which have different sound systems .. and a universal sound track has to be made for them .. different theatres produce different sounds, depending on what sound system they use and the acoustics of the theatre ..

Aw thank you, I wish I could continue to write but at this point every time I try it just creates more anxiety that I'm forgetting the characterisation of my own characters but I also get anxious about not writing and I also feel anxious about not studying whenever I'm writing.

I'm not gonna make any promises for obvious reasons but as soon as I finish with uni prep and academic stuff I hope I'll be able to come back and finish GGGLU I have far too many pages of plans and flow charts to abandon it completely.

I was contemplating handing it over to a friend with more time but I just can't give it up unfortunately 😅

So I've been toying around with a few ideas regarding the longevity of GGGLU and whether it's better to make it short and sweet or fully explore every idea I have, I figured that the audience probably knows best what they want so here we go:

1. The original plan was for the story to encapsulate the first two years of the MC's university experience and while they couldn't see everything to completion I believed the point I'd originally planned to cut it was satisfying enough and would allow the reader to choose how they believe the rest of their MC's life went.

2. The second plan I came up with is to extend the story to the full 5 years, this would mean lots of changes to the routes (eg. Careers taking off) and to dynamics as the ROs get older alongside the idea of the MC eventually moving off campus and into a rented apartment/house with R and an RO/ROs.

The main upside is that you get to see how things progress regarding all the ROs and your family but the downside is that it would make development time of the game indefinitely longer.

Hmm...

What kind of gift will Jason gift to each RO:

1. Jason would first and foremost just go to the wedding registry to see what they need most.

A: Couple gym memberships for a year.

B: Honeymoon and a giant portrait of himself with eyes that follow you.

H: A guitar pick with MC's face on it and he'll cover your shots for travelling since you might be on tour.

F: Tickets to an opera in which an unfaithful partner is haunted (A threat)

R: Honeymoon and the bill for the wedding photographer.

Sid: A microphone with MC's face on it and he'll cover your shots for travelling since you might be on tour.

Do the ROs get jealous easily? If so, how possessive are they?

My answer to this question changes every time I answer it haha, I was trying to remember what I said the last time it was asked but my knowledge of the characters has evolved since then.

A: both jealous and possessive, out of all the ROs their feelings are the most likely to cause them to act out and particularly it manifests as being competitive.

B: not jealous but slightly possessive, they are more than willing to share but more than anything they don't want whatever it is to be taken away from them wholly.

F: they aren't a very jealous person and could probably be mostly detached until they are deeply and irreversibly emotionally attached to a person at that point they become more possessive than they were but (even if it destroyed them) they could let go.

H: They like to think they aren't possessive or jealous in the slightest and that most things don't irritate them (which most things don't) so when they are feeling jealous or possessive they'll repress it rather than act out.

R: not possessive at all, despite it being contrary to what you might think because of how they were raised they are able to give up most things and share relatively easily.

Sid: not a very jealous person, able to let most things roll of his back and not faze him at all. There is however one topic particularly which evokes a more possessive response.

Obviously all of them are well adjusted enough to deal with someone not wanting to associate with them and taking that on the chin.
