So like...not to present a new fanfiction idea when I'm still not finished with the one I'm on but:
Baxter Ward reluctantly returning to Golden Grove due to his father passing away and staying at a B&B you (who used to be a part of the Boy's club) happen to own–Hallmark Christmas movie style?

Casey Stoner collage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Open the cut for more pictures and higher quality scans
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I needed to edit this scan together because collage was too big for my scanner but I'm not very skilled at it so i also added original scans so you can try yourself if you want to print it out or use somehow
And the best detail of the whole thing
Tumblr media
This is just to show how tedious of the work it was to put all stars on, i needed to use cut up twosided tape to this size so i can stick all of them, even the smallest and it was a bit of nightmare lol

it's almost 1am here's my essay about Dal and captainhood <333
Tumblr media
I hath promised a Dal essay and I hath delivered…
I've had this in the drafts for so long, but I just rewatched season two and it really allowed me to solidify a lot of my thoughts.
One of things that really strikes me about Dal's character and his relationship to command is that being in charge is a place of safety for him. He's had to be self-reliant and self-sufficient pretty much his whole life until the Protostar. It's something that was engraved into him since he was small, that the only person Dal could really depend on was himself.
And because he was never around anyone who actually cared about him until the Protostar, that was the right thing to do. This need to be in charge, to be in control really, is a learned survival skill. "I can tell you from experience, people in authority lie."
But in season two, his circumstances have changed (for the better!), and that's not the right thing to do anymore. Ultimately, to me, Dal's season two character arc is about vulnerability and trust. He's been in survival mode for so, so long, and now we watch him learn to heal.
You start with this boy who's spent the grand majority of his life alone or with people who are exploiting him, and the story takes him by the hand and tells him "now that you're safe, now that you have people who care about you, you can't live like that anymore."
All throughout season one he learns trust. Trust in his crew, in Hologram Janeway, in the Federation and in Starfleet as institutions that can and will help him and his newfound family. But as a captain, when he was guiding his crew through active crisis after crisis, trust looked like open doors. It looked like laying out all the variables and problems on a table so they could figure a way out together.
Trust looks very different on the Voyager-A. It asks him to have faith in what he's not seeing, what he's not being told. He has to believe that they have his best interests at heart, that he's not trusting his family to something that will try to hurt them.
Captainhood isn't just bossing people around for Dal. It's the responsibility of holding the lives of the people he loves in his hands. He trusts his own hands. He has the best interest of his crew at heart.
To ask Dal to relinquish control, is to ask him to place the lives of himself and his family into someone else's hands. Which, historically, has not gone great for them. It prods directly at his trauma, asks him to take undo and ignore the survival instincts that kept them alive for so long. Is it any wonder he has trouble with that?
Dal's not going around crawling through Jeffries Tubes because he's a brat or because he thinks he's entitled to know everything. He's a traumatized kid whose self-sufficiency, independence, and ability to make his own decisions were once, for a very long time, the literal line between life and death for him and his crew.
And even if he trusts Starfleet and Janeway in his head on a logical level (which I absolutely believe he does), there's still this instinct that's written into him. It's a process to learn how and when to turn that off, and that's what we see especially throughout the first half of season two.
This really culminates in the cafeteria scene after they return with the Protostar and Chakotay, when Dal advocates for the Starfleet temporal management guys to figure out a way to get the Protostar back to Tars Lamora. Dal was able to see that his hands weren't the best ones for the job, and trust Gwyn's life to someone else. That's huge for him. He trusts not just a person, but a branch of an institution he's never interacted with before, with one of the people that mean the very most to him. And Dal's able to give up that control, to place himself and his crew in that position of potential vulnerability, because he's finally started to feel it in his bones that he's safe here.

Promoting my fic as a whole! It wasn't updated for a long time for irl reasons, but it's back, and I'm not sure how to reach people other than posting it on Tumblr!
An elf-blooded mage flees Ferelden during the Blight, only to find himself at the center of an era of upheaval that will shake the world. Percy Hawke--apostate, fugitive, revolutionary--and his journey have been well documented and scrutinized, but the most famous accounts are not the most trustworthy. To understand the events of Kirkwall's rebellion, one must understand its Champion; and to understand the Champion, one must know his tale.

MCD Fanmade Anime Opening Collab: REALLY INFORMAL INTEREST CHECK
do you love animated shows and Aphmau’s Minecraft Diaries? do you love listening to OP and ED songs that go hard for no reason?
I do and I always thought it would be awesome to hold an MAP for MCD in the style of a faux anime opening. but I also know this fanbase is composed of a handful of pebbles, and we need people to make a collab possible. if you’re reading this and you like the sound of that idea, vote in this poll how you feel!
and of course tell your friends and all, use my askbox if you have any questions. additional information is going under readmore if you're interested
When would this start?
Early this summer ideally, I'm a student right now and other people are as well, so I'll try to line it up with breaks the best I can and be pretty lenient about the deadlines
What are we using as the song?
I have in mind "Snow Fairy" by FUNKIST, the first OP of the Fairy Tail anime. I think it matches the fantasy setting and tone of the first season well. it also lends well to having a lot of still image parts, which I wanted to add because not everyone is an animator or has the time to animate a sequence, and I'd like for as many people as possible to be involved. I'd be open to other suggestions though!
How are we splitting parts?
I've divided the draft script into ~30 parts, including both animated sequences and stills, and scripted and unscripted parts. if this collab happens, I'll be making a video that breaks down the script and parts and a Google form for applying to parts. it'll be more or less a first-come-first-serve, but I may need to wrangle with the animated parts or parts with a high demand. I'll try to get everyone a part they want.

maybe bsol is that time jen tepper mentions when she was so upset about a review of a show of joe's that she broke a glass (&/or threw it out a window)
#could be anything ofc but i sure went sighhh i'll read the nyt review for science; i'm already assuming it's a piece of shit#(it was; thus predictably; a piece of shit. even the nyt rave for a show i liked was basically a piece of shit)#the only thing that makes raves higher quality is they might have actually bothered giving more info abt the show#& otherwise have devoted more thoughts & less space to just the critic's dogshit directionless griping. but barely; so#anyway i was like oh i can search twitter easily for a word as distinctive as bloodsong (except also a ship name for some videogame)#then i was like oh my god at a post from jenashtep about like oh it's the anniversary of two days in a row Events#first when the nyt bsol review was published second when i went to your apartment to make sure you weren't dead#(wait she didn't say To Make Sure You Weren't Dead she says Because I Thought You Were Dead....throw a glass situations)#like well damn also hmm....(also first thing the nyt would've covered at all i think. tbs never played in ny....or nj evidently)#one can only imagine. bsol is so [it does feel very christmas extravaganzay to me in ways. not the same lord knows but]#that like I'm riled fourteen years later finally listening to a boot which leaping into the arms of someone lifting up an Audio#same as xmas like sure i can't be like oh it's about this that the other precise moment though there are ones that extra rile me#can't say it's so obvious like i could Elevator Pitch explain to a rando why i Gasp or get weepy or just have some very special experience#plus i've never even gone lol. the way they can't stop the xmas show b/c it's a musical that just crops up a weekend a year lol#i'm so already like oh of course this is something i'm obsessed with forever now :) unsurprisingly & like it's so idiosyncratic god bless#(also unsurprisingly bloodsong seems to have been broadly warmly received; save by the Newspaper Of Note(tm) taking a dump & calling it a#day like will was saying abt tbs l.a. like oh audiences loved it local online coverage loved it just the less than halfassed review by the#Big Paper didn't & was like ''why isn't this a whole other thing'' called it a day)#anyway like hey I'm absolutely on fire for Outlaw for Not In Your Soul You Don't for Last On Land for Friendship Song to name a few#for what ended up being my proper angle of entry like oh that means a funny little villain then? (yes) like boy is that a banger alone#think thusly nominated for off bway relevant awards; got more than one nom....hey for one thing fourteen yrs later a rando can be obsessed#like that same rando cherishes the memory a livestream livechat interview where i said Black Suits Forever & they put that up onscreen so#joe had to pause like sorry i got distracted someone said black suits forever that's a line from the show & it's So that that show of mine#that never played in new york....like That's Right lol. i'm slamming the xmas fanart up to your window for year three joe Joseph the Show#(he did also see the bsol fanart which i more discreetly made a reply given he saw that Yay Krampusfucking reply last year lol)#anyway uh um. oh yeah wait also bloodsong is lifechanging sort of to me personally i'm just like. so relatively evenkeeled about it like#well of course :) & it counts as lifechanging when i get anticsful Posting. & it's lifechanging Any shows Any songs that are any kind of#impactful. speaking of like individual numbers in cabaret shows or the entire show or the album or concert or anything#as i reblog Outlaw again yelling or go god damn one Understands how last on land is the penultimate song on album#or i say to myself Whenever I Eat A Noodle; I Like To Think About The Hwheat That It Used To Belong To

RP Scenario 3
Scenario: Permapreg, curses, pirates, fantasy, magic, frequent birth. My captain OC uses she/her pronouns in this ad, but tbh, isn't too picky on gender stuff— hell, she's a magical pirate captain. Open to any gender partner. If you're interested in writing this with me, hit me up.
One of the most feared ships roaming the seas belongs to a crew of magical, largely non-human species, though a few select humans have been let in. They're notorious for robbing ships belonging to the monarchy or those involved in harming/trading/using magic humanoids for their own entertainment. The monarchy has their hands in some shady dealings, in particular the entertainment side of things that dabbles in magic.
Unbeknownst to a majority of their rivals, this ship's captain has personal experience with the cruelty that comes with this. Before she was a pirate, she was a siren— and an unfortunate victim of capture. She was sold to the monarchy for entertainment purposes, and was trapped performing for royals who would ogle her.
Eventually, her voice mesmerized a prince, the heir to the throne. His frequent dealings in dark magic allowed him access to a great deal of power, as well as opportunities to witness creatures such as the siren. Deciding that he would woo her to be his bride, he used magic to turn her into a human. Instead of being thrilled, as he had expected, she was horrified. He offered her power and riches if she would marry him and become mother to the next heirs to the throne. To his surprise, she spurned him, casting him away in hatred for the way he attempted to control her, and said she would never bear his children.
Resentful and resourceful, he punished the siren through a curse— she would remain pregnant, stuck as a human and living with the ordeal of frequently having to give birth and experience the pain of it.
However, the siren escaped, fleeing back to the sea, the only place she'd ever known as home. As she was unable to truly return to it, she fought her way to the powerful ranks of pirates on the high seas, accumulating a viciously loyal crew of others like herself. They attempt to defend others from the wrath they all so often experience.
Of course, her fearless and danger-seeking demeanor is partly a facade to cover up her own shame at what's happened to her, and she largely tries to deal with her condition alone, despite her crew being willing to help. The only person she seems to let in is her first mate, who serves as her right hand on the sea, and her confidant and lover behind closed doors. As the ship slowly gets into more trouble, her crew searches for a place to hide, but danger seems to lurk behind every wave— especially after certain individuals find out the captain's vulnerability.
