Linaria vulgaris (yellow toadflax) and Linaria purpurea (purple toadflax)
As I was saying the other day, a disproportionate number of the world's wildflowers are either yellow or purple and nothing demonstrates this better than these two European 'invasive weeds'; yellow and purple toadflax. No one knows when these plants first arrived in North America but I would guess that they probably showed up sometime in the first five years of European colonization - on a pair of muddy boots.
Yellow toadflax is mildly toxic to livestock but purple toadflax is very poisonous. Probably because our European cattle, sheep and goats coevolved with purple toadflax, they generally avoid eating it. Still farmers don't like the way purple toadflax takes over their fields and it's regarded as a serious agricultural pest.
Recent studies of botanical diversity show only plants that people like are prospering in the Anthropocene. Native plants are becoming extinct in unprecedented numbers and being outcompeted by non-native, invasive weeds is part of the problem. But somewhere in my rebel heart, I admire weeds. Weeds grow wherever they want, they don't seek our approval and they don't care what we think of them. No doubt, long after we're gone, it will be the 'weeds' that will inherit the Earth.

Have you smelled this perfume?
Tumblr media
It may start out fruity, but Rihanna's second fragrance, Rebelle, goes deep into gourmand territory with coffee and chocolate notes. Floral accents pair with patchouli, amber, and musk to round out this stunner that predates Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty, and introduced Rih to the beauty world. Have you smelled it?

Azul was freaking SCARY during this part Ngl lmAO imagine blasting this guy with your most powerful spell and he starts laughing like a maniac with hollow eyes and SHOTS you unexpectedly with an even more POWERFUL spell😂😂😂
I would love more insane Azul ✨✨✨✨ being businessman prim doesnt suit him as much as this lol
Also I FELT this part lol its really nice seeing Rollo get beaten up after his nonsense 💥💥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Go get him board game club‼️‼️
Tumblr media
I love the buildup towards this part. Malleus was written as if he was intimated by Rollo during the fight, but then his mask of being "weak" falls off and its actually revealed that he is not intimidated by Rollo at all, in fact the way this scene's vibes gives off??? He was looking down at him, with his 'plans' and his stupid delusion about antagonizing him.
I love when TWST reminds us that Malleus is a king. ✨✨
He hides off this personality that he truly believes he's too superior than anything, that he's undefeatable.
Not gonna lie y'all, I think Malleus won't be defeated by the flowers, he emphasized this from the start, that he's fighting Rollo because the flowers will be problematic for Briar Valley, but not him yk.
Plus, this is Meleanor's kid😂 Mother didn't birth a weak dragon‼️
I think this part also mirrors in Book 7 where the Silver Owls was convinced they caught Meleanor but she just laughed at them and declared that they'll decimate every human in her sight for being insulting as to think they can ravage her land and defeat her lol.
Also the fact that Henry basically narrates her as if she's the villain of humanity by calling her a witch... It parallels to Rollo seeing Malleus (even though he didn't do anything) as the root of all evil yk.
Also possible theory for the Kind Bellringer and the Just Judge??? We all know that their story is written more peaceful here than the Disney movie.
But one thing that's strange is that No one knows what the Bellringer was fighting for even if he's considered a hero of Fleur City-- at the same time, we don't know how Rollo even got the flowers (aside from studying ancient flora)--- Basically, Fleur City lore has many plotholes and no one knows what it is and why is that-- Its like Briar Valley history...
We know the crimson flowers are a reference to the scene where Quasimodo released lava around the Notre Dame to prevent Frollo from entering....
What if in Fleur City as well,,,, Quasimodo (as the Kind Bellringer here) rebelled as well against the Just Judge (Frollo) as well?? But the Just Judge is instead credited as "the saviour of Fleur City" because the evidence of the Bellringer acrually being the saviour is burned up or smth, thats why Fleur City's history has many gaps in them...
Also the Just Judge being the actual villain in the history but remembered as a hero now because of misinformation.... It matches Rollo's punishment that he'll forever be complimented by the actions he didn't do, and its up to his guilt whether he can stand living as a fraud who actually harmed the same people thats highly regarding him rn.
Tumblr media
LMFAO GRIM????? DONT BULLY GRANPA TREIN??? YOU SILLY 😭😭😭😭 I wanna hug Grim he's so cute in this event.... My unruly son 💖💓💖💓🥹
Tumblr media
The gargoyles are so cool🥹🥹🥹💖💓💖 How does Malleus differentiate them... 💥
Also this makes me wonder.... Why Briar Valley doesn't have talking gargoyles??? Isn't Briar Valley a magical nation??? Talking non living things should be a norm for them lol
but Malleus feels like its his first time ever with a talking gargoyle lol
Tumblr media
ISNWIHBDHIWHID HE REFERRED TO HIMSELF AS "MAL" .... CAN YOU BE MORE CUTER THAN YOU ALREADY ARE 😭😭✨✨🫶🏻✨🫶🏻💓💖💖💖💖
he really loves nicknames rather than "titles" because people who gives him nicknames isnt shackled by the expected decorum of meeting him-- therefore these people are not acting and they are sincere with talking with him, it helps with the connection and feeling like he belongs 🥹🥹💞💞💞
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I COULDN'T RESIST COMPLIMENTING GRIM AAGHHH MY CUTE AND ADORABLE AND HANDSOME SON YOU ARE MOST PRECIOUS THE ADORABLE HERO OF FLOWER CITY 💓💞💖💓💞💖
I love how Grim ran the moment he heard that someone is doing a celebratory toss lol The goofy running sfx lol 😂😂
I love how teasing Silver and Sebek was here lol Threatening to toss Idia in the air omg.. He's traumatized already from walking the stairs lol The way Sebek and Silver can be unexpectedly playful... it feels so... "Lilia taught this to them didnt he..." 😂😂😂
Tumblr media
WAAAAHHH YUU CENTER ATTENTION YAY YAY 💖💓💞💖💞💖💓 i love how he used his sultry smile here though lol .... He knows we waiting for his undivided attention yiiiee✨✨✨💞💞💞
Tumblr media
Also i hate this translation part.... In the twst JP Malleus dialogue shows the specific lyrics of "Make a Wish" hes singing rn but in TWST EN IT DOWNGRADED TO JUST " *SINGING* "l
also on the twistune, twst JP shows the lyrics but on twst en, theres none.... I don't get why they arent translating it... This game is for people who dont understand Japanese?? So its natural youre going to translate everything for us non japanese to yk... Atleast understand without googling for translations???
Tumblr media
YEAAA PHOTOGRAPHER YUU HERE THEY SHINE 📸📸📸📸📸😎😎😎😎 be proud your mages still have magic crowley lmfao 💥💥💥
Also i hit the image limit now... But i love the Cinderella reference from Trein's dialogue ✨✨✨ that Yuu taking pictures of the ball can make the other uninvited students more jealous lol
Its a reference to how Lady Tremaine plotted against Cinderella just for her to never attend the ball... ✨
I like this event ngl, but I feel like Rollo's story was kind of rushed ngll jdnfiind we never found out why he's so angry at Malleus, how did he even come to the conclusion that killing Malleus is killing magic, bruh...🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Malleus is not even the top 1 strongest mage??? 😂😂
Also i feel like this event was made for Idia instead, it felt like Idia was the main character imo...
I just feel like the event couldve given their dynamic more light because its so intriguing that they went to similar trauma but have different outcomes...
In a way Rollo is what Idia wouldve become if he continued tormenting himself for Ortho's death alone...
He said to Rollo that "is removing magic what your brother wouldve wish?" I think thats very telling that even if its tragic that Robot Ortho's creation was fuelled by Idia's grief and defiance that Ortho is forever gone, it was suitable for Idia's pain to remind himself that Ortho wouldve wished he goes on... as is very telling of Book 6's ending about Ortho's refusal on Idia's suicide by going with him on the Underworld...
also because I think Rollo would need some person like Idia whos blunt for regular reality checks just so he wouldn't blinded by his delusion again and ransack the world 😭😭

The next gen kids and...
- who they look like the most (which parent)?
- who are they like the most when it comes to personality (which parent)?
- who (except their parents) are they simillar to?
Victoire
Victoire looks a lot like Fleur when she’s younger and grows to look like her Tante Gabrielle, especially after having children. She’s tall and beautiful, and she grows into her curves and figure.
I would say her personality is a lot like Bill’s and he hates it lol. She’s a rebel with a cause and also a mother hen to her siblings. She does come off as a bit standoffish like Fleur can, but she means well in the end.
I would say she is the most like Ginny, headstrong and stubborn and not afraid to fight for her own rights and happiness.
Dominique
She looks so much like Fleur, just throw on some freckles and a wild mass of red curls she likes to call her lion mane. She is tiny and is often mistaken for being the premee baby of her siblings, not the one that was over ten pounds.
She is just like Bill, a Weasley through and through. She makes fast and rash decisions and it does bite her in the ass, but she grows from it
Speaking of which, I would say she is most like Percy. When it comes down to it, he is defined by his two biggest moments in canon, leaving and coming back. Dominique is made of the same stuff, fitting for the godfather/goddaughter duo
Louis
If you held up a photo of Louis and Bill at sixteen, even Molly would have trouble telling who was who.
He is quiet and calm and delicate, Fleur’s baby through and through. He loves art and to dance and to live his life the way he wants to, even if he has to burn some bridges
Not only is he named after Charlie, they are great friends and pen pals. Louis takes after Charlie like a duck to water and they both enjoy it
Molly
She looks like Audrey, but with those Weasley freckles and brown eyes and that unmistakable shade of gingery-orange hair. Really she and Lucy are the perfect mix of their parents
Molly is so bright and happy and hopeful, very much like her mother and the Hufflepuffs she finds kinship with. She has had so much pain and sadness thrown on her that she needs some happiness and lightness in her life
She’s like George, they both have this warmth and happiness they can bring out of themselves while also holding onto a deep trauma
Lucy
She looks like Percy the same way Molly looks like Audrey. She does have Audrey’s blue eyes but Percy’s eyesight and she does tend to walk a little taller than she really is, but sometimes she needs that extra confidence
Lucy is very emotional, she’ll cry at the drop of a pin and her moods change so quickly from happy to sad to confused to happy to angry, she tends to just let everything out because for so long Molly didn’t or couldn’t
Lucy takes after her “Uncle” Oliver Wood, one of her dad’s closest friends and quite the emotional man (when it comes to his Quidditch team lol)
Freddie
He looks like George, a bit tanner and a little taller, but he looks just like George.
Freddie is a bit troublesome, but not as bad as his dad. He’s playful and silly, but has a tendency to doubt himself at times. He loves deeply and fiercely and will fight for those he does love. He’s a good son to his parents even if he made them grandparents much too young
He takes after Ron really, his confidence goes up and down and he can crack a good joke while being in love with the smartest girl he knows
Roxanne
She looks like her Aunt Roxie, but with some dark red curls she loves to braid and play with
Like her brother she is a bit troublesome and does have some confidence issues. Her issues manifest into a horrible eating disorder and an abusive relationship, but through a lot of work and love she comes out on top
I really feel like she takes after Hermione, she’s stubborn and headstrong and used to being listened to as the smartest person in the room, but her insecurities do hold her back at times
Rose
She looks like Ron, red hair and blue eyes, freckles and that playful smile, but Hermione’s curls and her short stature
Her personality is a great mix of her parents, the good and the bad. She also tends to mother hen her cousins, which they jump on and take advantage of at times
She takes after Harry, he’s her godfather and uncle and in many ways her third parent. She learns so much from him and he’s a great source of comfort to her
Hugo
He looks like Hermione, but he does have the Weasley red hair and he’s sooo tall, the tallest of the Weasley grandsons with only Louis within inches of him
He’s happy, he’s hyper, he loves to have fun and joke around but come exam times, his head is in the books and won’t come out until it’s all over. He is very competitive, but who can blame him when he wants to be the smartest person despite his set backs
He’s like Fred, funny and sweet but sometimes with a mean streak that he hates and a hyperness that holds him back until he overcomes it
James
James is the perfect mix of Harry and Ginny, he has the messy red hair and tan skin and brown eyes and freckles and lanky limbs that are both Potter and Weasley
He is definitely a goof ball, but also has a heart of gold. He is protective and loving and often doesn’t think before he talks, but it doesn’t matter because he’s so good and honest to those he loves. He has made his mistakes, but he honors them and lives up to his names and the men his mother named him after
He is very much like Bill, taking the weight of all the family in his shoulders with pride and love even if he sometimes puts his foot in his mouth
Al
He looks just like Harry, but he had freckles on his nose and cheeks and it reminds Ginny of Fred. She will never compare her second son’s looks to Harry, always her brothers
Al is dramatic and moody and always rolling his eyes, but he loves his family and gets along with everyone despite his dramatics. Rose is his ride or die and she is the reason he made it to adulthood and he knows it
Honestly, I want to say he’s most like Ginny, but if I can’t pick a parent I would say Percy. He is a bit high strung and prideful, he’s ambitious and wanting from the world, but his family comes first over and over and over again
Lily
Merlin she looks like Ginny, she has hazel eyes like her grandfather James and can’t see anything closer than her outstretched hand without her glasses, but honestly she and Ginny could be twins if they were the same age
She is a bit of a brat, being the only girl in her immediate family and then the youngest granddaughter, she takes full advantage of being the baby. But she does grow up and levels out and becomes more than just her wants. She ends up finding a peacefulness in being unknown and called out on her more selfish behavior, and it’s good for her to see reality a bit
He takes after her Grandad Arthur, taking interest in something small but oh so important to her and finding her own ways to be brave and just in front of not only herself and others. She also takes a bit of happiness in hiding away at times, even if she’s always watching
Bonus:
Scorpius
He looks like Draco, but Astoria’s features have made there way in. It’s in the slight tan of his skin tone and the curls of his white blond hair, but otherwise he is all Malfoy
He is literally the kindest and sweetest person, sure he’s also ambitious and cunning, but people notice his presence through his polite and kind demeanor
He takes after Theodore Nott, who has proven himself to be kind and wholesome and a great father. He loves every lost child that comes into his home and has made his home open and accessible to anyone that needs a place to stay, but especially his children’s friends

Analysis: Was Hermione really shown to be superior to Lavender in HBP?
The whole 'Hermione vs Lavender' thing, aka uplifting the nerdy girl over the girly girl doesn't exist in the books, it is entirely fan made.
People often talk about how Lavender, a girly girl (who giggles, is interested in divinition, loves unicorns etc) was put down in the books just to uplift Hermione, someone who isn't particularly feminine and who's nerdy and intelligent with regards to their relationship with Ron in hbp. This literally never happened though, Rowling went to elaborate lengths to establish that all 3 of them were incredibly immature and hormonal teenagers
Rowling might hv been partial to Hermione in a lot of instances but this isn't one of the. Hermione is portrayed to be just as immature and teenage-like as the other 2, in ways that don't strike as 'uplifting'. Rowling even crosses the line doing this, like with the bird attack. Ron and Hermione bicker due to terrible communication, then Hermione cries alone in a classroom when she sees Ron kissing lavender, and is thereafter described as 'mysteriously vanishing' every time Ron and Lavender are together. She's constantly shown to be really jealous and angry with this.
“He’s at perfect liberty to kiss whomever he likes,” said Hermione. “I really couldn’t care less.” She raised her quill and dotted an i so ferociously that she punctured a hole in her parchment. Harry said nothing"
She then teases Ron and runs to the bathroom crying when he teases her back, then debates picking between Cormac McLaggen and Zacarias Smith- she ends up picking Cormac as 'he'd annoy Ron the most' (Cormac being Ron's 'rival' for the post of Keeper in Quidditch).
In what way does this qualify as 'shown to be superior'!?
Harry constantly complains about Hermione's pettiness. The book literally says:
Harry was left to ponder in silence the depths to which girls would sink to get revenge.
The use of the word girls in plural shows that in no way does the plot or the narrative think that Hermione is superior to Lavender. They're both the same: teenage girls being petty and dumb asf, Hermione in a vindictive way and Lavender in an overly romantic way. Harry, who doesn't discriminate girls for being feminine (eg. Fleur), is also sick of Ron and Lavender. Even Parvati, who's just as girly as Lavender, was tired of them.
“Hi, Harry,” said Parvati who, like him, looked faintly embarrassed and bored by the behavior of their two friends.
Lavender was never shown as weak just because she was feminine or pitted against Hermione. She joins the DA in OotP, was one of the first few girls to join the DA and Neville into hiding in fear of being targeted by the Carrows in DH (implying that she'd rebelled against them all year), and stayed back at Hogwarts to defend the castle after Voldemort's warning.
All of this wasn't written to uplift or put down anybody, both the girls were just written as teenagers. And for me that's what makes their last interaction so heartbreaking in DH
Two bodies fell from the balcony overhead as they reached the ground a gray blur that Harry took for an animal sped four-legged across the hall to sink its teeth into one of the fallen. “NO!” shrieked Hermione, and with a deafening blast from her wand, Fenrir Greyback was thrown backward from the feebly struggling body of Lavender Brown.
Its not Ron who protects her, its Hermione. That shriek in capitals and the 'deafening blast' seem so devastatingly personal. This was the girl she'd spent 6 years sharing classes with and living in the same dormitory with.
Its the fans that pit the 2 against each other, while the narrative does the exact opposite. Both girls were very young. They went from being petty teenagers fighting over a guy to fighting in a brutal war and seeing unimaginable horrors.

“James Dean was a furious cry against the cloying, smug hypocrisy of a consumer society in the fifties. While we shall never know if he was capable of providing any answers, since he died so tragically young, it was enough that he voiced and portrayed the frustrations and discontent brewing in the American youth of his time. Their identification with him led to his instant and enormous success in three films – East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant – made in just over one year. His premature death in 1955 … was itself a tragic statement of his dissatisfaction and ensured his elevation to legendary status. So strong and clear was the message he expressed in his own time that today, along with Monroe and Presley, he still embodies the spirit of a society in search of its identity – a search unleashed in the sixties and never satisfactorily resolved.”
/ From Hollywood Colour Portraits by John Kobal (1981) /
“We cannot speak of cinema without mentioning the name of James Dean, the freshly plucked fleur du mal, James Dean, who is cinema, in the same sense as Lillian Gish, Chaplin, Ingrid Bergman, etc.” Francois Truffaut
Died on this day aged 24: cinema’s bongo drum-playing quintessential doomed 1950s bad boy, James Byron Dean (8 February 1931 - 30 September 1955) – one of the most lusciously photogenic actors of all time. Pictured: 1954 portrait of Dean by Roy Schatt. This whole session - frequently called the “Torn Sweater Series” - was taken for LIFE magazine but never used at the time. I think they’re the most beautiful shots of Dean ever captured.

misogyny in nico robin’s character
disclaimer: i don’t read op manga, just anime
i wanna be clear: we all know how misogynist is one piece and anime/manga in general. sadly, it’s something deeply ingrained in the media, and we all can recognize it in plots, designs, whatever. but nico robin case is especially awful
first of all i wanna point out how two different clichés about women are portrayed with nami and robin; nami is not a pick me, but a very much digerible femenine character. nami prefers to hide in battle, nami is sweet, and we could say she is a tsundere, and u know how incels loves tsunderes! (ofc this is not something against her, my beloved child)
but robin is out of tune in the sexist frame. robin is strange, wise, scheming, and even her facial attributes are uncommon in the same-face-syndrome (thanks god her big nose is remarkable enough so she could keep it post timeskip), and god knows she got severely mistreated because of this
robin, same as other secondary character like franky or brook, has no much prominence. there are some episodes where she is in the action but she doesn’t even appear (thinking about it quickly, it comes to my mind fishman island battle, for example), so it’s so easy to remember her big moments on screen; there are two prominent events where robin is on the focus, and this two events are an excuse to punish her for being the woman she is
moments in question are the part in enies lobby where spandam is dragging her (i think to the gates of justice or whatever) and her battle against black maria. in both occasions robin is tortured and her body is severely threatened in a way never seen in one piece, deeply sexual and disrespectful. violence is pretty common in this series, but not this one
Tumblr media
we had several episodes of pandam pulling her hair, throwing her against the ground and threatening to chop her body, over and over. nobody can tell me this is not a fetish: i remember feeling so fucking disgusted watching this, even violated. several chapters after, the same feeling came to me when black maria fighted robin through bondage, and it become hard to watch when black maria holds and punchs her agains the floor. again, several character have been punched along the series, but not like this. black maria spanks robin while screaming how beautiful she is now she is covered in blood, and we know this is a typical statement in domestic violence perpetrators
Tumblr media
the girls’ fight getting this disturbing is not casual: fictional sexist violence between women is just a form of projection. scenes where a woman is the one mistreating an equal are desirable by the male gaze because a woman being misogynist is a triumph and a show. when robin uses demonio fleur and becomes a devil to reduce and crush black maria’s body she is not taking revenge as a woman, but continuing the cycle of sexist violence
Tumblr media
maybe this post contains mistakes because i’m not a native english speaker and i saw this chapters time ago, but for me it's very clear how robin being a rebel is punished in a sexist and horrendous way. to be honest i don’t think this is on purpose, but a great example of how ingrained misogyny in our society to take this as “normal” in fiction, and how easy we accept a strong girl being penalized

Re. The anon who called HP a misogynistic series.
JKR is transphobic. She has used her platform to spread misinformation and personal attacks on trans people and women with unconfirmed DSD. She should absolutely be held accountable for that. That contradicts her feminism. But I don’t agree on your point about the books.
“Jkr claims to be such feminist, however, her books are solely based on male friendships or male/female friendships.”
Yeah because the main character is male and the story is from his perspective so of course it focused on his friendships.
Yes, we get to see mild friendships like Luna and Ginny or Hermione and Ginny.
Luna is a character who is ostracized and bullied. She doesn’t have any friends until the DA so her friendship with Ginny and Hermione isn’t mild. She has a mural of their faces on her ceiling. That’s how meaningful they are.
Why couldn’t Hermione have a group of girlfriends she hung out with when the boys got annoying?? Couldn’t she have a female friend or two that she really got along with?
This is an essential part of Hermione’s story. She starts book 1 as shy, nerdy, and not having friends. After the troll incident she has a connection with Harry and Ron. She doesn’t have connections with girls intentionally because it brings her and the boys closer. JKR wrote her based on her own experiences of being plain and bookish and not having that make for popularity in school.
We know Ginny is popular and I’m assuming Lily was somewhat popular too, who are their friends then (don’t say Neville and Luna because she had to have more friends than that! And I refuse to believe Snape was Lily’s only friend)?? Why wasn’t there any mention about Harry’s godmother?? Did Molly really never have any friends to let off some steam? The same thing with Tonks and Fleur?? Why couldn’t Hermione have a group of girlfriends she hung out with when the boys got annoying?? Couldn’t she have a female friend or two that she really got along with?
Again this series of from Harrys perspective. There is a lot we don’t know about these characters because he isn’t around to see it. Ginny is in a different year than Harry so it’s not like there’s any reason for him to interact with her friends. Also yeah she’s popular but most people only have a few friends who are true intimate real friendships so saying Neville and Luna isn’t irrelevant.
Lily is seen is a couple of flashbacks that were Snape’s memories so it’s biased to only show them. There’s no evidence that he has a godmother. Would be nice if he did but having a godparent that wasn’t in prison would’ve led to him not being raised by the Dursleys which fundamentality changes the story.
Molly is only seen when she is around Harry and when Harry is there she is also raising her children. Ask any stay at home mother with 7 kids who lives in the middle of the country if they have an active social life. We do not see how she spends her time when the kids are at school because it’s not Harry’s purview.
Fleur is only even seen as the champion and bill fiancé. Would it have been nice to give her more of a backstory, yes, but it’s not relevant to Harry’s story.
Tonks is the same as being seen through the lens of an auror and an order member because that is how she interacts with Harry.
HP is a misogynistic series written by a self proclaimed feminist.
The women in Harry Potter are not myopic. They are allowed to not just fit into a single mold of womanhood. They are nerdy, brave, traumatized, optimistic, strong, fragile, good, evil, kind, cruel, conflicted, beautiful, plain, ugly, rational, or dreamers.
We see them grieve, betray, rebel, make friendships, walk away from them, fight, lose, kill to protect and kill out of cruelty. We see them as sporty, frilly, ambitious and we see them evolve and grow up.
I get that hating on JKR is standard practice and it breaks my heart to see who she has become but these books are such a part of how I and a lot of people grew up and a lot of these female characters are inspirations.

On a real Taylor Swift kick at the moment, because of the new album that's coming out soon, so, for Title Tales:
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter :)
😂😂😂 This is a popular request! I think I've received it at least four times from various people.
Fleur Delacour/Hermione Granger this time.
Mademoiselle Fleur Delacour must carefully control herself and her allure at all times. Miss Hermione Granger's competence makes it more difficult than usual while she's at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the Triwizard Tournament.

The Monter in the Black Room part 4
Warnings: attack, ambush, pinned against a wall, captive weapon, emaciation, starvation
"You are... different from the others that visit." The voice was right next to him this time, making him instinctively flinch. "Why are you down here, if not to torment me with more pain?" It was an honest question, and Villain had a hard time figuring out how best to answer. Because he'd wanted to defy his father? To sate his curiosity? Or just to prove he wasn't chicken like everyone else scared of the Black Room?
"I... I wanted to see what my father was hiding down here," Villain admitted. "I'm not allowed to come here on my own."
"Ah, so a little rebel," the woman chuckled. "Digging around behind Supervillain's back."
"I'm not--" Villain caught himself before he could say she was wrong. Because that would be a lie, and she'd know it.
"Is your curiosity sated, then?" The woman's raspy voice hissed.
"Y-Yes," Villain said in a small voice, shaking all over. The hand disappeared from his shoulder. "C-Can I go? Please? I-I won't ever bother you again, I swear--" he started begging and pleading with her, but a crackling laugh stopped him.
"Why wouldn't I want you to bother me? This is the most interaction I've had... in so long... It's entertaining. Time can get... rather dull when you never see daylight."
Villain's stomach twisted in knots, imagining how lonely and miserable it must be down here, alone in total darkness day and night. Forced to kill again and again. That reminded him of another question. "Can't you just... not kill anyone?" He cautiously asked. "Maybe some of the men Supervillain throws down here could help you escape?"
That earned another raspy laugh. "Supervillain thought of that already. If I don't kill whoever he sends to me, I don't get to eat or drink. And I'm already emaciated as it is... if I don't do as he wishes, I'll die. It's my life or theirs."
Villain couldn't help feeling sick. Supervillain would seriously force a prisoner to kill people just to survive? "What's your name?"
"..."
"--You don't have to tell me if you don't w--"
"...It's Hero."
The name sounded vaguely familiar, scratching at the back of Villain's mind. Then it hit him.
Oh. Supervillain's enemy. From ages ago. This was seriously what Supervillain had done with his rival when he'd won the battle?! Note
can you do a comprehensive list of your all-time favorite works of literature?
Okay, comprehensive. Let's see.
- Any word that ever came out of Fitzgerald's pen. Not me going through his trash and reading his canceled checks to his bootlegger while copiously weeping, “THIS IS POETRY!” - La Dame aux Camelias - Eugene Onegin  - The short stories of Katherine Mansfield, Ivan Bunin, and Aleksandr Kuprin - Les Fleurs du Mal - La Vita Nuova - Victoria (Hamsun) - Leone Leoni, Sand in general - One of Cleopatra's Nights and Other Fantastic Romances - White Nights - Andersen's fairy tales - Breakfast at Tiffany’s - Manon Lescaut - Undine - Vanina Vanini - On Tangled Paths. Or Effi Briest. Can't choose! - The Pursuit of Love/Hons and Rebels double feature - Franny and Zooey - Le Rêve (Zola) - Notre Coeur - Idylls of the King - The Pillow Book - As I Crossed a Bridge of Dreams. Forget Austen versus Bronte - are you a Lady Sarashina or a Sei Shonagon? - Madame Bovary - Spring Torrents, First Love, literally anything by Turgenev - A Farewell to Arms - my all-time number one forever favorite book - Le Grand Meaulnes - Aucassin and Nicolette - KEATS! - Sunflower (Krudy) - the Anne of Green Gables series, for sentimental reasons - The Portrait of a Lady - Great Expectations - The Artificial Silk Girl - Hardy in general, but especially Tess of the d’Urbervilles and The Return of the Native - Les Miserables - A Double Life (Karolina Pavlova) - War and Peace - Spring Snow - Fêtes galantes (Verlaine) - Slow Days, Fast Company - Sylvie (Nerval) - Complete Works of Shakespeare - My Antonia - Love in a Fallen City - Madonna in a Fur Coat
