Your rebelcaptain secret santa was me all along! Your prompt gave me all the power in the world to do almost whatever I wanted with this beloved pairing, and I settled with Before Sunrise: A RebelCaptain Story AU (based on the 1995 movie of the same name… kinda.) Our stars meet unexpectedly on a train traveling to Vienna, and Cassian convinces Jyn to spend his last night in Europe with him before his plane departs. They gallivant around the city, conversing about everything and nothing at all. There’s feelings and a kiss and then time is up. ALL OF THIS, and then my mind kept returning to this quote from the Rogue One novelisation “He hadn't known her, didn't know her, of course. There wasn't the time.” Then I cried.

I hope your 2025 is filled with good health, good friends, and a good cry over these two because, of course, we did know them.

Once Upon a December

Twenty years after the fall of Aria Prime’s royal family, rumors of princess Ginevra being alive start circulating the streets. Im thinking animal shelter owned by baze and chirrut with jyn as the vet and bodhi her trainee. One day they find a lost cat who seems to have a hatred for either vets or just jyn. It turns out he belongs to private practice veterinarian cassian and this is how he learns about rogue shelters. He begins to spend more time there and each visit lends him more reasons to stay than just one. kay doesn’t find it so bad either.

They all become a family and nobody dies the end <3

“Lastly…”

He sounded hesitant and Jyn burrowed her eyebrows in confusion. He was so sure in his memorized speech just a moment ago. Cassian stared thoughtfully at the golden prize in his hand.

“I… would like to dedicate this to the person who has been with me on this journey since this movie was merely an idea. The first person to read every single thing I write. And well… The first person who complained the most about a certain character’s death like you all did.”

It got another laugh from the audience.

Cassian continued, “She was my cornerstone through it all. Her hand marks were all over this movie, and it was better because of it. I was better because of it.”

What was he doing?

Cassian smiled and looked at the camera, “My beloved shade of green. Thank you.”

They broke up a year ago.

Lie to Me

Here it is!! I teased y'all with this story all week and decided it was time to post it. This snippet is pretty much exactly what I posted as a snippet earlier but it comes with a link to the whole story.

According to my notes, I've been working on this story since April of 2017. I kept coming back to it, and then getting distracted by some other shiny idea. But I decided I really wanted to finish it.

Lie to Me

Oklahoma, 1940

The long, rutted driveway sent up puffs of dust under his wheels. He parked under a  tree with sunburnt, scrawny leaves that offered minimal shade. Still better than none at all.

The heat burned down on his shoulders as he fished his valise out of the trunk and climbed the steps to the porch. He knocked on the wooden frame of the screen door and waited.

The woman who came up the hallway to answer was small, young, with dark hair falling in her wide green eyes and a full cupid's-bow of a mouth. The flowered print of her dress was faded almost into invisibility. "Yes? Can I help you?"

She hadn't lost her British accent, he noticed, although years in the States had softened the crisp edges of it.

He took off his hat. "Afternoon, ma'am." His voice was soft and syrupy, oozing South all over the vowels and consonants. "I saw your sign on the road. Rooms to let? I'm hoping you've got one available for a weary traveler."

She looked over his shoulder to the car, settling onto its wheels with a sigh. "For how long?"

"Just tonight. I'm headed down Austin way."

"It'll be three dollars," she said. 

His brows went up. "That's a stiff price, if you don't mind me saying so, ma'am."

She shrugged one shoulder. "It includes dinner and breakfast, and a packed lunch for the road, and it's still half what you'd pay in Tulsa."

Three dollars was exactly what you'd pay for a night at a motor hotel in Tulsa, but he felt reluctant admiration for her sheer brazenness. And who knew? The food might be worth it. He nodded. "Three dollars will be fine."

She opened the door and stood back. "Come on in, then."

"I do thank you," he said, wiping his feet on the mat and stepping inside. "Castor Willix, ma'am."

"Lianna Hallik," she said.

When Jyn Erso was eight years old, her mother died and her father left to become a gamemaker for the Hunger Games. Adopted by Saw Gerrera, her mother's friend, she became Jyn Gerrera and was forbidden from ever revealing her true identity to anyone. Ten years later, it's Jyn's last reaping. Saw, the forgotten victor of the 32nd Hunger Games, had rejected every reward the Empire offered him, preferring to live as a recluse at the edge of the forest in District 12, as opposed to the luxury in the Victors' Village. It's been decades since anyone in the district even recalled that Saw was once a victor himself, but he had made sure to teach Jyn all he knew of self-defense and combat training. It's the only thing she has of him left since his passing two years ago. Now, Jyn just wants to get through her last reaping and survive. Jyn is good at surviving, but Cassian, with his quiet cunning and surprising talent with a bow and arrow, could be a threat. Not to mention that Jyn knows he's the sole provider for his young sister and aging mother; a family who needs him. Who may die without him. Nobody is waiting for Jyn back home. When their mentor's plan to make them seem like star-crossed lovers triples the attention and sponsors they receive, Jyn is forced to play along with the scheme and pretend she has feelings for Cassian. Worst of all? She's not sure where pretending ends and where genuine feelings begin. The gamemakers say they can both go home if they're the last two tributes standing, but Jyn knows better than to believe the pretty promises of the Empire. Soon, she'll have to make a choice. Will she do anything to survive? Or will she let Cassian Andor go home to his family - even at the cost of her own life?
