And thats it! I was going to include the bit of a cop asking if Dan and Herbert were gay but unfortunately that cop is really shitty, so its just not fun in retrospect.

I hope you all had fun reading these tid-bits, the rest of the novel is worth the read, I feel it captures just about the same energy as the film.

Not enough is said about Dr. Gruber or his relationship with Herbert. Was the reagent his creation? Was it Herbert's? Was it both? How was his dynamic? Could Dr. Gruber be the one who used to control Herber's idiotic destructive tendencies, or were these consequences of his death?; On the wiki there is the theory that Herbert killed him to test the reagent and that's it, but I really don't believe it, Herbert seemed to respect him a great deal, even defending him against Dr. Hill, whom he accused of stealing his mentor's work.

I definitely don't think Herbert killed Gruber. As you said, he seems to have a lot of respect for him and the fact that Hill plagerised his work seems to be why Herbert instantly dislikes him. In the novelisation Gruber and Herbert both decide to perform the experiment on Gruber where he kills himself and Herbert tries to reanimate him, but it obviously doesn't work. Gruber even tells Herbert beforehand that he's always thought of him like a son, so I think it's safe to assume they had a close relationship. It would also explain why Herbert's so cold- he lost his mentor/father figure, got accused of killing him and then had to spend time in a psych ward. Not very fun.

In the movie when Hill is going through Herbert's notes, he says something like, "your elaboration on that old fool Gruber's work is really quite brilliant!", which makes me think that Gruber possibly had some ideas about brain death and what not, but it was Herbert who originally conceived the idea of the reagent after being inspired by Gruber's work. We don't really get to see any of Gruber's personality in the movie so he's a blank slate of a character but I like to think that he and Herbert were birds of a feather, and Gruber was the first person to really understand Herbert and accept him.

But I def think their relationship is an interesting dynamic to explore, and you could take it in so many different ways.

This au was very loosely inspired by Arcane, because JayVik is Danbert in a different font.

So I went "what if Dan made the reagent?" then, "what if Dan was just a little freak?" And then I realised I kind of just made him me but cis and bi but it's fine❤

Spoilers for reanimator (duh) and also the novelisation kind of.

He was always a weird kid who was fascinated by death, but he got significantly stranger when his parents died in a car accident. His want to conquer death became is one focus because he never learned how to cope with loosing people. Shockingly, his work wasn't complete nonsense and he made a lot of progress. Though, it eventually began to stagnate.

Just as it'd reached the point where he wasn't sure what else he could do to improve the reagent, Herbert West arrived at mitskatonic. Apon finding out he'd worked with Gruber he decided he needed him on his side.

He invited him to live with him almost immediately. At that point convincing him to help was far easier than expected

I’m about to have a genuine emotional outburst because ive just had a realisation thats shaken me to my core. And im sharing it here.

For bordering three years now, one of my largest and main interests (basically my big hyperfixation) has been the Sam and Max Franchise. I love the comics, the blip of a cartoon, the LucasArts game and all the TellTale games (i personally despise the vr game but thats a discussion for another time).

One of the many things i enjoy about Sam and Max (other than absolutely everything) is their appearance in poker night. Specifically their joint appearance in Poker Night 2.

Now just recently, I’ve started to get really into the Re-Animator movies. I’ve gone the full monty, obsessively rewatching the first two movies (fuck beyond reanimator, but yet again: topic for another time), drawing it obsessively, talking non-stop about it- god i’ve even been considering actually reading the novelisation.

What im trying to say is as of current, im both very fond of Sam and Max and Re-animator.

Now, just the other day, i discovered that the Evil Dead series have had a few crossovers with Re-Animator, and it’s somewhat relevant within a lot of re-animator fans. So therefore, Evil Dead and Re-Animator are connected.

Finally, onto whats really stressing me:

Ash fucking Williams is in Poker Night 2.

Sam and Max are CANONICALLY friends of Ash Williams.

Sam and Max and Re-Animator are connected through Evil Dead.

for my birthday i got a reanimator button up and the reanimator novelisation, and i know for a fact that my mom got me a reanimator patch for my easter basket and ordered me a reanimator t- shirt a while ago. i dyed my mullet neon green as a reanimator reference. i am only semi- known on tumblr for my reanimator posts and that one john constantine meme. im only semi- known on tiktok for my reanimator posts. it's really hitting me that in so many people's eyes, im just the reanimator guy. also, here's the button up
