#really though it's enough for me that she's actively transphobic. that is enough for me to hate her.

it’s wild to me that people are conflating the issues with jkr herself and issues they may have with the story that is hp, and couching it purely in rhetoric regarding transphobia and transmisogyny. hp is not a transphobic book/movie series. the author is the problem here
hp was written by jkr and going back to it as an adult and also with the context of the type of person jkr and the hate she spews means you can see some things definitely stand out as Not Great. but there are two things to that: one is that it’s mostly racist and antisemitic tropes or lazy stereotypes—not great but abundant in fiction, and in particular the context of these books being written in the late 90s/mid 00s by a white christian british woman means it’s entirely unsurprising in the context of when it was written. the attitudes shown in the books were typical of the time. we’ve come extremely far since 1997 and not everyone remembers that
and, more importantly, two: the books themselves are not overtly transphobic, and i’d argue that perhaps with the exception of certain interpretations of chamber of secrets, aren’t transphobic at all, and at the very least are unintentionally insensitive
jkr is the one who’s transphobic. and again, going back in time, she was actually considered quite progressive at the height of this franchise. she’s been radicalized over time, especially online, as many people have been in the last decade or so. it’s unfortunate that she’s a high profile enough person for that to be a really big problem, and it’s no excuse. she’s a vile person, and she spews vile filth, and many people listen to her because she’s jkr, and that hurts many people, and there’s unfortunately little to be done to stop her
but we also can’t pretend that hp wasn’t a cultural touchstone for an entire generation, and dominated media significantly for a decade. most people who were kids, teens, and young adults in the 00s- early 10s have core memories attached to the series. that’s not going to just drop from memory. but she doesn’t actually own an entire genre of children’s literature (even though she may have revolutionized its expansion). unless she dies tomorrow, it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to divorce the author from the work completely for a good few decades
so what’s left? we do what aabria did with the story. we pull the parts that were good, flip it and change it into something else. make new stories in the magic school genre. if hp is the only recent thing in that genre because people don’t want to go near it, it’ll only ever remain that way. if it makes you personally uncomfortable that’s fine, no one’s making you watch it
but it’s insane to act like watching a show that’s not actually hp on a platform unrelated to wb made by people entirely unrelated to jkr and her team is actively funding jkr’s crusade and giving it visibility and a platform. it’s really really not
while i largely agree with you, i do need to push back on a couple of things.
first: your claim that there isn't transphobia in the books.
rita skeeter, whose whole thing is disguising herself to spy on people- specifically children in the books- is described as physically "mannish" a lot, specifically her hands, shoulders, and face. and, iirc, her hair, nails, and other denotations of femininity are described as Very Obviously Fake.
while it's not the most explicit transphobia jk's written, that very much is a Fucking Problem.
second: while i get that the horrible take that sparked this is mostly about transphobia, some of your phrasing comes across as dismissive of the other bigotry.
the racism and antisemitism absolutely go above and beyond what could possibly be excused by "product of the times" shit. that cannot be ignored.
BUT all of that is secondary to the topic at hand, which is summed up very well in your last two paragraphs, i think.

Allow us to introduce ourselves
Half a year active, over a hundred followers, the majority of which are veteran tumblers from that one 60k note explosion, and we still haven't properly introduced ourselves. Time to fix that.
We are Clover, an endogenic plural system. That means we are multiple people sharing one brain and body, and we aren't plural because of trauma. We do not have DID. (nor do the vast majority of endos)
I am Quincy, the headmate who fronts the most. Quincy is not my real name, but it could've been, and it's an alias I've been using for a few years.
Edit 2024 August 1: Quincy split into Eliza and Mia. Eliza's egg opened easily. Mine crumbled painfully. We now share the host role and this blog. There isn't much difference between us; we both inherited Quincy's memories.
Edit September 18: I live.
There are a lot of people on here who say that it's impossible for a plural system to form without trauma, but as you may have seen from our syscourse (system discourse (expect a lot of sys- compounds)) reblogs, they rarely cite any credible sources, and that's because they're wrong. I am not a LARPer and I do not claim to have DID. This really is every hour of my life, online and offline. If you have any more questions about plurality, feel free to send me an ask.
Though if we're talking about origins, "not from trauma" is overly vague for my taste. If we're really talking about how the system formed, I prefer "dreamgenic", because everyone originated from some combination of nightdreams and immersive daydreams which I had varying levels of control over.
The second most active headmate, Victoria Penelope, has her own blog @victoria-penelope-clover. She posts more infrequently, when she's able to front/cofront/proxy, and is currently mostly focused on syscourse, with occasional slices of life. She's my older syster.
Headcount is currently in the upper teens. Some more may be mentioned occasionally but I'd rather not have a list of private details about everyone easily accessible here for anyone to see. For the most part, all you'll see every once in a while is some colored text indicating a distinct voice.
Anyway, enough plural stuff! Now for typical bio stuff!
Fleed Reddit to come here and wow Tumblr is way better. Always happy to commune with fellow Rexxitors!
For obsession I circle between Chess, Minecraft, Geometry Dash, Warrior Cats, and Undertale. Fandoms I am on the edge of getting sucked into include The Amazing Digital Circus and Death Note. I also plan to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender at some point. Ever since our syscovery, I've consumed next to no fiction for fear of more headmates.
I have a few projects in the works but I've promised myself that I won't post them publicly until I've actually made substantial progress!
No DNI! Maybe it's just because I'm not jaded by years of wasted time with unproductive trolls, but I think assuming someone is in bad faith just because they disagree with you about something heated is bad actually, partly because I've seen what happens and how long progress takes when left-of-center people generally refuse to interact with, for example, transphobes. Relatedly, I will only block you if I think you're a bot or if you really, really fuck up.
Do not be surprised if I casually shit on something you believe in without warning.
I have an ever-growing queue set to post five times per day, and I try not to post too much more than that. I also try to keep my dash at less than 100 posts per day, which is apparently uncommon here.
Reblog reblog reblog! Not just my posts, but everyone (unless you have a good reason not to, like with this intro post). Reblogs are what keep Tumblr alive! Likes do next to nothing.
That's all for now! If you have any more questions, send me an ask and I might add it to this post!

As a POC I could not handle any longer the way they excused Lea's actions on the Glee subreddit. I left permanently because of it. It angered me the day someone on the sub said that Lea apologised. Lea did not apologise. More than enough times, I've seen Lea be defended on that sub and people get upvoted for it and I couldn't stand it any longer.
The tipping point for me was that people started to say that Santana fans can't keep their feelings about Naya separate but at the same time they're known strong Rachel fans and Rachel defenders and have shown support to Lea multiples all the while being overly-critical about Santana. It was just brewing into hypocritical territory for me.
As a teen, Naya helped me in ways that's hard to explain. Her passing affected me deeply. To see that a few people, going off of the multiple upvotes, were agreeing with comments made accusing Santana fans of mixing their feelings about Naya with Santana in an unhealthy manner was hurtful. Lea fans also double down on putting Rachel on a pedstal to not talk about Lea's past actions on the glee sub but it's not spoken about.
So grateful that you spoke up about this major issue when it comes to Lea on the Glee sub. Your willingness to speak up about the issues on the Glee sub makes me feel less alone.
Omg thank you! That's so nice of you to say. I really do try to steer away from real people on this blog because I want to be primarily media-based. But the Glee sub makes me so fucking mad. They're the definition of performative activism and double standards. Supporting and/or forgiving Lea is just shitty, no matter how many times they try to justify it.
Naya- and Heather- helped me a lot too. They brought to life one of the healthiest, most important sapphic couple of the 2010s (my username was inspired by them lol, that's why they were my old pfp). They made me feel okay to be myself and comfortable in my sexuality. Her passing affected me for a long time too, it was like I couldn't process it.
I know exactly what you're talking about, when people would accuse Santana fans of conflating Santana because of Naya's passing. Like, right after it happened. It was really an awful thing to say because a woman was dead. Her life and memory were more important than their favorite character getting shit. They're vile.
If anyone can't separate the actor from the character it's Finn fans. Cory was a great guy- people always said him and Dianna were the nicest of the cast- and he also passed while the show was still running. A lot of Finn's "likability" came from Cory's charisma and comedic timing. If Cory was still alive I really don't think as many people would defend Finn.
(Tbh, I think Cory himself would shit on Finn. His mom once said that Santana slapping Finn was his favorite scene)
I also feel like people (including other POCs) don't actually understand why Lea was (is?) racist. Racism isn't just "I hate minorities and don't think they deserve rights." It's way more complicated than that. Lea might not have been throwing the n-word around (though, she was derogatory at least towards Samantha with that "shit in her wig" comment), but she absolutely viewed her being white as being superior to her WOC coworkers.
It's a pretty common thing for Black girls. Hell, I even experienced it from girls I called my friends. They're so "down✊🏾" but will be quick to remind you how more cultured and better than you they are.
If you haven't been taught about or experienced these things, you won't know that. But attempting to shut down WOC who have experienced it is shitty. Lea fans trip over themselves to defend someone who went out of her way to bully a younger Black coworker just because she could.
(Also, she was outwardly transphobic. Not letting anyone forget that either. If she was so willing to be transphobic, what makes you think she wasn't racist?)
Lea fans have no excuse. I liked and looked up to JKR too, but the people she hurt (and continues to hurt) are more important than how much I admired her or how much I enjoyed Harry Potter. I was disgusted by her and had no issues condemning her. Lea fans are hypocritical, self-righteous performative activists

This isn't a dig at you, my friend- but I suppose I should have been more clear, so let me make it more clear;
I don't believe that, actively, JK Rowling is anti-semetic.
However,
I DO believe that the goblins are antisemitic caricatures.
(This is the tl;dr but it's also posted at the bottom.)
Revolutionary concept, but art and the artist are not typically one and the same. (I'm sure nobody in HP discourse has heard THIS one before, but let me convince you.) On the surface they speak the same language, but if you look at it you'll find that the art one creates more frequently mirrors the subconscious. Things that the people themselves would be abhorred by if they realized what they've written.
Is this an issue with JK Rowling's writing? Yes. Absolutely yes. But I don't think when she wrote the goblins and their lore that she was actually thinking about the implications of their history. Arguably, when she introduced them, they might not have even HAD a history. A lot of the things we know are all retroactive because she's horrible at writing.
Now I could be wrong, it's just my reading of her actions and pre-established beliefs! But I thoroughly believe that she probably had good intentions with goblins- she probably thought she was doing something inspired. After all, banking (especially the banking seen in Harry Potter) is a rough job that needs a lot of hands and in a world where goblins can't really do the thing they usually do, they need a new thing, right?
On top of that, in the process of all things, she was probably studying a little bit about nazi Germany and- well, we all know the kind of caricature jews obtained in that time period specifically. So it was in her brain, banking, and goblins, and she probably went 'fuck it, I'll just put them together and have a sick-ass bank cart ride.' (Maybe moreso in however JK Rowling Thinks though)
And now we have a very unfortunate set of Jewish Caricatures running around that probably were not intended to cross.
As a fantasy reader and writer, you come to expect mild racism here and there and it's very obvious when it's intentional and when it's not. (Most cases; it's not. :'( ) This is a mistake that I can see any fantasy author making, save for the ones going out of their way with every breath to make it not the case.
Tangentially, any time you have to criticise fantasy, you actually have to look around at the things surrounding it. The fantasy genre in particular is heavily, heavily steeped in old-fashioned racism. Sometimes! (Like with Tolkien!) This is the point. People are supposed to be racist so that they can learn it's inhibiting them.
A lot of times though, things are done a way because it's how it was at the beginning and, in the beginning, everyone had to look at what culture was like; and most writers came away with the thought that Europeans were the only people with a culture. Everyone else was savage or some kind of immortal being of beauty. (All this is such a deep dive that I can not bother to get into but trust me there is a legion of writers who See This and are going :/ as a day job.)
Lovingly, fuck no I'm not reading whatever a white person wants to write about Native American culture it is always bad. It's always terrible. Jesus Christ I know what they're TRYING to do but HOLY SHIT PLEASE GOD-
Am I defending this a little too hard? Maybe. I won't fight it if we have more solid evidence than caricatures, but I don't believe she is actively antisemitic so we shouldn't be calling her as such. If anything, we should use this as an example of why you should dissect things and inspect them before you write them.
Anyways, tl:dr; Her goblins can be antisemitic caricatures without her herself being antisemitic and I know we want more reasons to hate her but we GOTTA acknowledge this, folks. Let's look for something else if transphobia isn't enough for you. (Personally? That's enough for me.)
Anyways, these are pretty much my full, horribly edited thoughts on the matter, hopefully more concise than my original statement which. Looking back, doesn't get into the stuff I wanted to talk about. (I was afraid.) I will reiterate, though- I don't care if you hate her because she's a transphobe and you believe her to be antisemitic. It's not like she's a better person without it.
This is moreso an explanation as to why I don't buy into it. I've gone on too long though so Imma head out °•◇☆◇•°~
What is The Jewish Consensus on the Harry Potter game
I don't know that there is one, if you're wondering about the issue with the goblins I will pull this graphic up from a old friend on here went by the url of JewishMagpie, learned tons from her since I'm not Jewish or anything it was good to bounce questions and thoughts off her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These three should cover where she would stand on this and likely a fair sized portion of the Jewish population, but I'm not going to speak for them.
She hated the "Jewish coded" nonsense with a passion.
Incredibly diverse group of people, different sects and all make the protestant church look united under one banner so there's not going to be one united take on it.
Old joke about how if you ask 3 Rabbi's the same question you'll likely walk away with 4 or 5 wildly different answers.
This might also add some clarity to that issue, that and give you a laugh.
Tumblr media
It's just the one now, and he did his aliyah to Israel since the taliban showed back up so after thousands of years there are no more Jewish people in Afghanistan.
I do believe the majority consensus lines up with Mags there, at least for the folks that even know what is going on ehre.

"There are no terfs" - so no woman on planet earth is a transphobic radical feminist?
"There are no Karens" - white women can't be racist?
I actually want to talk about this! I want to talk about the semantic drift of TERF and Karen - and I want to talk about how why slut, whore, bitch, and "mean girl" are not in the same category.
If she'd said "the label terf has been inappropriately expanded past its original description of transphobic radfems, and is now applied to transphobes who are not radical feminists, and is even sometimes applied to any person - including trans people - who talk about feminism", I'd agree with her. I've been called a terf, and I'm a whole ass tranny.
If she'd said "Karen has been inappropriately expanded past its original meaning, which was to call out white women utilizing institutionally racist systems to terrorize black people, and is now applied to any woman who complains about anything", I would agree with her.
The expansion of these terms past their original meanings is actually really important to discuss. They came into the vernacular for really important reasons: to call out women who were expressing bigotry. Being called a TERF or a Karen was, at one point, a serious accusation; it meant that person was a transphobic bigot, or a racist bigot.
However, people have definitely blurred the lines on what those terms mean.
Nowadays, "TERF" is flung at one of two kinds of people: general transphobes, OR, anyone discussing sexism and how it's based on sex assigned at birth - even if that person is trans.
At best, TERF is usually flung at all kinds of transphobic people, who aren't always radical feminists. Sometimes they're cis men, which is extra funny because there aren't many cis men radfems since radfems in general do not accept that cis men can be feminists in the first place. But like I said, trans people also get called "terfs" or "terfy" if we discuss birth sex or sexism. It's happened to me a few times. It has in some cases drifted into actually being sexist/misogynistic, when it is used specifically to shut up someone who is a woman, or afab, who is speaking up against sexism or misogyny.
The reason it works is because the original meaning of "TERF" meaning "transphobic radfem" is still lingering there in the background, which is why calling someone a TERF is still an effective way to try to silence them, and an effective way to try to get people to hate the target. "Oh no, they're a transphobe!? Unfollowed!". So folks are still utilizing the original anger that term summons in order to apply that term to a larger group of people.
And "Karen", a term invented by the Black community, also had a very specific meaning: calling out white entitled women who were so steeped in privilege that they felt comfortable using the racist institution of the police to threaten black people, including children. The meaning of that term has also, unfortunately, migrated. It now gets applied to any woman who is being assertive, or complaining about anything at all, even if it has nothing to do with race. It has actually migrated far enough that it's now equivalent to "bitch" in the sense that it is now sometimes used as a sexist/misogynistic slur against women who are just standing up for themselves.
Again though, the reason "Karen" still works as a way to silence women is because the people misusing it are capitalizing on the original meaning of the term as "racist entitled white woman".
The migrated meanings of both of these terms would not have power if the original meanings of those terms didn't have power.
Calling a woman a transphobe isn't sexism or misogyny if she is actively being transphobic. Calling a woman racist is not sexism or misogyny if she is actively being racist. It is ok to call out bigoted women for being bigots!
The claim that anyone using "TERF" or "Karen" is being sexist or misogynistic is blatantly untrue.
I can only speak on TERF with regards to this semantic drift. As a trans person, it is incredibly frustrating that people have stretched the meaning of TERF so far, and it is frustrating that some people are using it in a misogynistic and sexist way, because that weakens it as a tool to call out women who are actually being transphobic.
Now when a trans person says "this person is a TERF", people like OP call us sexists and misogynists, claiming we are using a "slur specifically design to target and silence women".
And speaking of sexism and misogyny, slut and bitch and all the rest are not in the same category as TERF or Karen, as they are not terms originally created to call out bigoted women. These terms are slurs and derogatory phrases meant to criticize a woman's sexuality or her behavior when that behavior is outside what is expected of her by the patriarchy. This is a completely different can of worms: it is in fact actually sexism and misogyny.
And conflating these terms is harmful and very fucking frustrating as someone who, you know, has been damaged by TERFs.

I've been pretty active in the Mass Effect fandom back in the day and a lot of my trans mutuals got shat on by cishet women for playing maleShep (they were more comfortable playing as him) and got called misogynist for it even though they didn't say anything misogynist. and I remember a lot of the same women had a meltdown when people referred to Shepard as they/them when speaking in general, and what I'm trying to say is - yeah, the terf and radfem rhetoric is very much a thing in fandoms as I saw it first-hand.
It was very upsetting to see my trans mutuals being scared of sharing their male (or nb) OCs, because you were automatically labelled a misogynist. I used to identify as a cis woman at the time too and even then, it was baffling to me that they'd come to this conclusion. I know how actual misogynists act like and they were far from that. A lot of my mutuals, including me after I started questioning my gender, left the fandom because we felt we didn't belong.
gonna talk about this undercut because ngl i feel a tad unsafe in this topic
i'm seeing this happen in the bg3 fandom with posts in the main tags where tav is being she/her'd exclusively and happy endings for characters being nuclear family/pregnancy and nothing else is a true happy/good ending, and the second trans folks and gay men tried to talk about this becoming the only accepted view for many people they were stomped into silence again for ruining peoples fun... by people not even realising this stuff is rooted in terf/radfem rhetoric. they just comment 'pregnancy is ok actually, let people have fun' without even checking the original OPs blogs and seeing how transphobic and homophobic they are.
we don't get upset because we're not being included. we're upset because we know what the fuck is going on and we can see it happening in real time and are trying to stop it before it becomes so widespread we don't feel safe enough to talk at all.
this also happened in the dragon age fandom and it's just. maybe rpg fandoms are just not safe spaces! that sucks!
i'm really sorry your friends and you had a rough time. i'm also sorry this is a repeating behaviour, no matter how many years pass. there's never a lesson learnt here, i suppose

Hello There, 🤗
[This is a little introduction post]
My name is Jaiden (she/her) and I'm a 19 year old trans-girl from Germany🇩🇪
I'd really appreciate it, if you took the time to read this before interacting with me😊
-------------------------------------------------------
First things first: This is mainly a kink blog so please only interact if you are 18 or older!
Secondly: I ask that you kindly fuck off🖕, if you're a:
biggot, homophobe, transphobe, racist, sexists, conservative, or just a general asshole with no respect and basic human decency/empathy.
-------------------------------------------------------
Now that that's out of the way let me tell you a bit about me😁
Why I started this blog:
There are 2 main reasons why I started this blog:
One: I want to express myself in a unique way and share a part of myself that I otherwise couldn't.
Two: I want to find friends and lovers who have the same interests as me both in and outside of kink.
Kinky things I'm into:
Diapers and Ageplay: No surprise there, I'm an AB/DL and a Little🍼. I don't really know my little age since I have trouble letting go enough to regress completely, but it's probably somewhere between 2-5 years old.
My sexual orientation: I'm pansexual as well as polyamorous (though I've never actually been in a romantic relationship before) so please don't hold yourself back from messaging me because of your gender identity or the way you look. For me the most important thing in a person (not just in a sexual/romantic context) is their actions and the way they treat others.
BDSM: I love being tied up⛓ and I love the idea of being completely helpless and bound as my partner(s) roughly fuck, spank and otherwise dominate me.
Though I find it important to say that this only goes for sex and kinky activities. I firmly believe that in a relationship all partners should be equal and make decisions together.
Humiliation: I like humiliation but only to a certain extend. I find that many people often go to far and start actually insulting people. When I say humiliation I mean it more as teasing.
Chastity: This is really just an extension of the previous two but it had to be said. Locked Girl = Good Girl🔒
Other things: I wouldn't be able to list all the things I'm into if I wanted to. I'm a really open person when it comes to kinks (and almost everything else) so if you want to talk about any "weird" kinks you have or just want to know wether I'm into something paticular just ask. I can't promise I'll be into it, but I can promise not to judge you😊
Non kink things I'm interested in:
Video Games: I'm what you would call a gamer girl 🎮. I've been playing video games for all my life. From the Nintendo Wii to the Playstation 5 I've played it all.
If you're looking for someone to play with send me a message. Video Games are so much more fun together!
Some of my favourites: Plants vs Zombies GW 2; HELLDIVERS 2; Elden Ring; The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild; Celeste; Rocket League; Minecraft;
Storytelling: I love all forms of stories. I've read close to 200 books 📖 (mostly fantasy) and even more manga. I stopped counting how many times I've rewatched my favourite movies and tv shows.
I also write myself, though I don't consider myself to be very good at it and have never finished a storie I've started writing.
I don't just like consuming stories though I'm really interested in how stories are made and structured as well. I once watched an 8 hour analysis of Demon Slayer on YouTube.
Philosophy: Please don't ask me who my favourite philosopher is or anything like that😅. I never formally studied philosophy. I just enjoy thinking about all kinds of things and discussing them with others at lenght and indepth. No topic is to obscure or random for me! Using my mind and discussions with others are one of the greatest pleasures in my life.
Board games: I've been playing board games for even longer than video games. And I don't mean stuff like Monopoly. I'm talking about games more akin to Dungeons and Dragons🐉 in complexity (though I only played D&D once).
Thank you for taking your time to read this little introduction of mine🤗🥰

Okay listen. Listen okay. Dumbledore’s moral failings are a result of poor writing.
Like jkr goes out of her way to describes Albus Dumbledore as this paragon of virtue who’s constantly trying to do the right thing and he’s practically omniscient and one of the only reasonable people in the entire wizarding world
And then she turns around and goes “but he didn’t check on the boy he left in the care of a Muggle he had been warned was going to mistreat him by someone he’s known for years” and he didn’t check for eleven years.
And then after that when Harry’s envelope literally said cupboard under the stairs nobody checked on that?? And hey hey McGonagall was the only one who’d see that letter actually she was the one who signed it so that’s poor writing on her character too
But this is about Dumbledore not her
And then nobody double checked on Sirius Black and whatnot including Dumbledore (and that’s not just Albus?? Like Remus didn’t, nobody else who knew Sirius didn’t) which is frankly ridiculous because he had friends and what can be assumed was an active social life given he was friends with James Potter who everybody falls over themselves to sing the praises of at every opportunity
This is, I think, an issue with writing an overpowered character in general. You describe them as virtually all-knowing, but then don’t come up with reasonable explanations for why they wouldn’t know certain things that need to be unknown for the plot to progress. You give them awesome powers, and then struggle thinking of ways for them to be thwarted.
When this isn’t done correctly, the only possible explanation for the fans is to make the op character in question an asshole. They didn’t care enough to check that a child was safe or they didn’t feel like vouching for the safety of someone else so they just didn’t or they allowed people to become collateral damage even though it would’ve been a perfectly viable solution to let things play out another way.
It’s so annoying to me that people do this but it’s also perfectly understandable because in reality the character is fundamentally contradictory; there’s no real way to reconcile the ideas that “Dumbledore is intelligent and wise” and “Dumbledore didn’t bother checking on an infant who actively had terrorists gunning for him for over a decade.” Those two things just can’t coexist without some serious bending over to make them make sense.
But they have to for the story to make internal sense, because it is a bad story. It’s just bad writing, there’s no way around it. And that’s a really difficult thing to swallow, even after coming to terms with jkr’s bigotry. Because even when she was just transphobic and racist and just kind of a bigot in general I could still say “well, the story was good, but it sucks she turned out so bad.” But I really can’t say that anymore. And that hurts so, so bad.

Fascists getting impressively bold in asserting their alternate take on reality, example number some big number.
So when I looked at my phone today, I saw an alert pop up about a Times of London article about Judy Blume, and mostly it got me really concerned about what the hell installed itself on my phone without my consent that’s pulling headlines from some transphobic rag, but the short version is they ran a story about Blume being this full-throated supporter of J.K. Rowling’s horrific transphobia, which is just complete fiction, and she’s been spending the day running damage control with statements like these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m going to circle back around to this, but on the off chance people follow me here who aren’t up to speed on this sort of propaganda, it’s been going on for quite a long time, particularly in this specific context of fascists completely fabricating stories about other authors supporting their uh... genocidal ambitions.
This sort of thing happens literally all the time. More often than not it happens with people who have been dead for decades or centuries so there’s more plausibility on going “well who’s really to say what this person would have thought about trans people? (Besides us, saying they’d be in favor of total extermination.) There wasn’t even a concept of trans people anywhere in the world before let’s say last Tuesday after all!” And like, they’ll do this with famous historical trans people. Like bigots were on this huge crusade to claim Dr. James Barry as a would-be supporter. Look him up.
They’ve been getting bolder with it though. Especially when it comes to beloved authors. Like, literally RIGHT after Terry Prachett died, a bunch of Nazi ghouls immediately started in on this weird campaign to claim him as a supporter. It uh, made a few headlines. Specifically it made a few headlines because he was very actively and vocally in support of trans people, as could be seen in books he’s written, the testimony of his family friends and coworkers, and you know, countless trans people he’d interacted with.
So then they started trying to pull this with authors who don’t quite have such a public history to be thrown back at them, and started getting really bold, claiming people who are still alive. Mostly just kinda trying to bait people with weird loaded questions like “hey, did you hear J.K. Rowling has tons of people bullying her lately, isn’t that messed up?” at the likes of Stephen King and Phil Pullman, who responded like you do when someone says that that hey, it’s not cool to bully people” and tada, here’s our headlines. Of course they PRETTY QUICKLY became aware that in this context “bullying” means “publishing factual accounts in the public record about her heavy involvement in a fascist collective with genocidal aims towards trans people” and walked that the hell back.
That sort of one-day-confusion from white guys in their 70s who haven’t been paying much attention to civil rights issues and absurd internet nazis is the closest these people can really get to a “win” here, and still aren’t really the best possible gets, so what about going with still living but probably not all that up with the times feminist writers? Like hey, what about Margaret Atwood? This sort of bigot’s all about calling cis women who don’t actively hate trans women “handmaidens” as a reference to her book, which they definitely read and understood, so that should work out, right? Not so much.
They had a similar strike out with Ursula LeGuin a while back. I don’t think they’ve quite been stupid enough to try and claim Madeleine L’Engle while her book with the non-binary angelic beings are helping kids fight against fascism was being made into a movie, but eventually they decided to come for Judy Blume, because... that makes sense when you’re this far removed from a reality.
So... those quotes above? Those aren’t things I went and dug up on my own. Those are straight off her social media feed, because she’s straight up furious bigots are trying to put words in her mouth on a topic she’s pretty clear about. And if you look at the responses those statements are garnering, it is some grade A cultist reality denial:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could keep going with this, but, you know, these are intertwined with people shouting just utterly horrific hate speech at her and I don’t want to keep wading through hat sort of sewage just to find even more people directly replying to someone saying “I completely abhor your disgusting hate movement and have made my stance on this clear for years” with “no you don’t! You secretly agree with us! You’re just backpedalling in these... statements that don’t at all work with the timeline I’m using to cope!”
I don’t really have a greater point beyond demonstrating how just COMPLETELY GONE these people are, unwilling in any way to accept the truth of the world around them, that no, people don’t in fact agree with their hateful rhetoric, and no, children’s authors who right about being yourself do not, in fact, want children to be abducted and tortured until they act in a way complete monsters would prefer. Also a lot of them have carte blanche to print straight up lies in newspapers and use that pretty regularly.

Hey there, i'm just writing this post to say that i'm probably not going to be active on Tumblr anymore. I feel like the time i spent on here wasn't very good for my mental health and i seriously embarassed myself several times. (I apologize to Patricia Taxxon for being really annonying. I know she won't ever see this post but i felt like getting that off my chest.) Right now i've been working on a homemade card game i wanted to make so i can have fun with my friends and express my love for the medium, so scrolling through tumblr posts is really not appealing anymore. Also knowing about how openly transphobic a lot of the Tumblr staff are makes me feel awful. If any of my mutuals still want to keep in contact with me, my discord username is dracoeyes (Like that, no capitalization or anything. The legacy one is Blue.TF#8926 if that matters.)
I am glad i stayed here long enough to meet some nice people, but now is the time for me to move on. I'll still dragonpost in spirit though <.=.<

what are your thoughts on trans natsuki? do you actively headcanon it or is it more of a “yeah i can get behind this” thing?
I personally don't have any super strong opinion one way or the other. I like both cis and trans Natsuki like I like both exclusive lesbian and bisexual Natsuki. Reality can be whatever you want, that's the benefit of fiction.
This is, incidentally, why I avoided bringing up the topic of gender the one time I discussed my view on all of the girls' sexuality (and, of course, because I don't think it's particularly relevant.) I am a cis man with cis experiences (inb4 i come back to this several years later with a new gender), so I don't feel super confident or insistent on assigning any particular gender headcanons to them. I just play with the concept like I'm playing with dolls; the heavy thinking I leave to people more versed in the field than I.
I think the idea of Natsuki being trans is a very interesting concept, though, especially when you pair it with the many, many avenues of angst (and, of course, the remedies for that angst) surrounding her. When I think of the trans experience, I think of all of the logistical realities surrounding transition (one of the oldest hyperfixations i have is medicine & human anatomy/physiology so it's hard to ignore lol), and I think of the nature of identity. Natsuki has a hard time being honest with herself, and with others. She struggles to create a view for herself which doesn't revolve around all of the insecurities she has, and has a sharp outer shell as a defense mechanism to keep people from getting too close. I could see why trans people in particular might identify with that kind of struggle.
And of course I think of her support network, helping her every step of the way. I think regardless of who's what, the Literature Club would absolutely be a trans-friendly space. Monika would probably stop a club meeting dead to kick a transphobe out of the club. Sayori, despite not necessarily getting the idea off the bat, would absolutely do her best to respect your identity, whatever it is. Yuri would be very intrigued by the idea and find the different ways people express their gender identity to be liberating for her, because social expectation weighs heavy on the mind of an autistic teenage girl. Natsuki would kill transphobes with hammers. (Do you think this would be enough for Mr. [BIG SHOT] Tumblr CEO to ban me?)
Alright, maybe that was a little corny there at the end, but I feel like for as unfortunate as the beginnings of the idea of trans Natsuki are (I remember when the game first came out, and I mostly used Twitter and Reddit as opposed to here. Dark times...), the fandom has really taken charge on terms of making some really nice things out of it. That feels sort of...odd coming out of my mouth, given my gender identity, but it's my honest opinion.
I've made comments before about trans MC, and I really do think that is a neat idea to more thoroughly flesh out a character for them that isn't just a thick-headed redditor. I actually do have a good few thoughts for a direction to take that idea, but...the Coil calls I'm afraid.
I might post misc thoughts on it at some point though.

I haven't been spending much time online lately cuz I can't use my phone at my new job and I'm spending a lot of time with my partner and socializing with ppl in person....but tbh im really reaching the point of burnout.
Last week I took the entire week off to visit my mom and brother for the first time since my maternal grandmother passed away and even though it was nice to see them and like, show face as a member of my family for once, we also spent part of mothers day with my brother's assistant who hes been having a years long affair with. I tried to talk to my brother about some of the shit I do with my partner to address our relationship goals and build our communication (we do a cringe app...) and he like, defeatedly tried to give me this empty and unused relationship memories photo album activity book that someone gifted them several years ago :(
Our mom was caretaker for her mom for the year or so before she passed away, so she's also traumatized from that and reasonably worried that my brother and I aren't put together enough as adults to care for her in the same way. There's no way I could have canceled my visit, but about a week beforehand my partner was fired from his job, and I don't earn paid vacation time for the first year at my new job, so my constant begging for money to cover rent thruout the trip didn't help.
Also had a little genocide conversation with her and it was so hard. I've never got along with my step-dad for a long long list of reasons, and even though the personal stuff has gotten easier to deal with, his job is like. He is actively involved in weapons manufacturing. Having to ask my parents for money right now feels like swallowing sandpaper -_-
Anddd to make matters worse one of the other HR ppl came back from medical leave and I finally got to meet her and she's a transphobic racist old white lady who already ratted me out for "yelling at her" and " making her feel small" for asking her to use the correct pronouns for my department leader. Who then asked me to apologize. Can't though because she called out for our shift together tomorrow to avoid my sjw ass. Honestly the conversation I had with her was some of my best work in terms of like, maintaining a calm and controlled demeanor, and she even thanked me for being one of the good ones, so I'm a little surprised. I dunno if this is the right job for me tbh, feeling very unsupported by my lead ✊😔 viva LGBT pride and solidarity

Btw this is super long so if it’s too much, ignore it 💖
So i think I need some advice. I’m in a friend group of seven. Three of them are christian. People’s religions don’t often bother me, i’ve had my ups and downs with it but mostly I don’t mind what you believe.
But two of them have some opinions that they align with their religion that I disagree with.
So Friend 1 is pro-life. She strongly believes abortion shouldn’t be an option (in healthcare) and if she was old enough, would vote against the right to have it. For everyone.
Friend 2 believes that abortion is murder, but (I would say) is pro-choice simply because even though she wishes nobody got abortions, she wouldn’t actively vote against their right to have them.
Say if I got pregnant, I know Friend 2 would still help me get an abortion if that’s what I chose.
And then there’s the other thing. They are both… let’s just say… not on the side of queer people. And im queer. And they know that.
I told them back when we became friends. Friend 1 jokingly said “no one here is gay right?” (when she was sat on the lap of Friend 2, pretending they were a couple, they’re both girls) and I didn’t hear the hostility in her tone. And I said I was (well, Pansexual). I was met with an awkward silence. And the announcement that Friend 1 was christian…
Friend 1 doesn’t agree with queer people. She doesn’t think it’s natural or right. She doesn’t like the idea of queer marriage. Or queer adoption. I don’t know her opinion on trans people explicitly but I think she’s said some classic transphobe things, like the claim the bathroom isn’t safe 🙄 ( which is obviously not true)
Friend 2 is the exact same. I tried explaining how JK Rowling is transphobic once and she brushed me off and said it sounded like she was right (ik a lot more abt that now though so i might go back to that with her soon… to be fair to her, she does listen to me and change her opinions if I make an argument she understands)
But when it comes down to it, Friend 1 thinks that it should all be done her way.
Whereas Friend 2 thinks above all she should not judge. She wouldn’t take away queer peoples rights (and doesn’t really say things like “they’re too loud” and such).
But here’s the thing. They are both good people. Friend 1 is the first person I go to with good or bad news. She is so good at understanding how others are feeling. And she gets me. She’s lovely and sweet and so enthusiastic. And I feel comfortable around her. We don’t talk about religion. She’ll mention something she believes from the bible or quote a verse and i’ll be cool with it. I’ll mention queer rights and she’ll be cool with it.
And Friend 2 is awesome. She’s funny and kind and we talk about religion a lot. We debate everything and argue (gently, no yelling just talking) and we never end badly. It’s always like… okay. Agree to disagree. Cause she knows I respect her right to believe in god. And I know she respects my right to be who I am.
They both always ask my permission if they can pray for me. They always invite me to their church youth group but provide me all the timings so I can come after prayers just so i’m comfortable (cause they don’t want me to feel left out when they invite the others).
But sometimes I feel… resentment. Towards them. Because they don’t like people who are like me.
The whole abortion thing is tough, because I think no matter what you believe you shouldn’t vote against the right to HAVE an abortion. Because that’s taking away a human right (in my opinion).
It’s not like i’m not used to this attitude. My parents are similar to this. They believe everyone should have the right to an abortion but, unless it’s a horrible (rape) situation, you should still have the child. And they believe in rights for queer people… until they’re being loud about it. Until it’s their kid.
And I just- I don’t love that attitude and so after leaving it in my house, it’s not easy for it then to be around me and my friends.
But also I’d hate to lose them over this. They are good people. They’re kind and funny and I get along so well with both of them.
Friend 2 is a friend I hope i’ll have for a long time. Because she’s like a sister. We argue but we never get mad. Plus at the end of the day she’d have my back. She’d come to my wedding if I married a women (i’m also a girl) and she’d help me if I ever needed it, over all else. She believes the most important part of being a christian is not to judge others. And I think she truly tries not too.
Friend 1 it’s harder. I love her too, she’s the best person to talk to when something happens. She’s generous and giving and she fucking cares. But she really believes these things in a way I find difficult to accept sometimes.
I don’t have a great relationship with religion. i’d love to hash it out one day but right now I just don’t have the time to put another difficult and anxiety inducing thought through my brain.
I don’t know what i’m asking and i’m conscious this was a long fucking message so i’m sorry. And if any of it bothers u or u don’t want it on ur blog then don’t worry at all 💖
I just… am i wrong? For resenting them a little? It’s hard for me to tell which parts are my rocking relationship with religion that cause these thoughts, or if maybe they’re not good people for me.
Because I know if I asked them not too, they’d never bring up their religions around me. I respect their rights to opinions and they respect mine. But sometimes, it bugs me. And I, I just can’t tell if i’m being unfair. Because i am comfortable around them. And they are both sooooo kind. Well… depending on how you measure "kind" i guess. And trust me, they ever bring this stuff up, i’m always reading with a rebuttal, and they’ll always listen. It’s just not easy sometimes.
Hi! I don't think you're wrong for feeling resentment at all! Being friends with people who have difference in fundamental beliefs is HARD, especially when they have beliefs against your actualy identity. And I'm not judging you at all for it, but I do have to say, some of the things you said do seem like a bit of a red flag to me, especially for friend 1.
I think the thing is, people who different in these kind of beliefs hardly ever change them. At least not usually. And eventually, something is going to happen so that you cannot ignore those differences anymore. Like you said, you might marry a woman. Seems like friend 2 passes the vibe check in that case. but what about friend 1?
Again, I get it. I've been there. Only you can decide whether or not these friendships are worth it. But I worry a bit for you, is all.

"you’re soooo disgusted by incest that you’re willing to harass people who talk about it, but not disgusted enough to stop funding the company that continues producing content you’re supposedly so disgusted by? Miss me with that shit" you forgot that here is the 3dr category, the people who do boycott but bully others for not doing it. Like the people who bullied streamers who bought Hogwarts Legacy (i don't play the game nor care for it but damn)
That asides, Fe incest is limited to subtext between siblings that never go far, incest protrayed as wrong in several games and if it's the Avatar, you have the game's excuse to explain why it technically isnt' because Fe games are targeted at teens so they can't go too far with it, just like they have to be careful with the fanservice within the game.
Also, forgot to say this, but they'd also have to boycott greek mythology or mythology in general. And historical text such as Cleopatra marrying her brother (though t'was political) or the famous rumors about the Borgia family though it turn out to be false but never prevented people to use it in fictions (cough, cough Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas)
Oh boy someone's giving me the opportunity to talk about the stupid wizard game it's my lucky day!
I'm not going to argue that harassment didn't happen to streamers who played the game, but I was pretty deep in the sauce following the fallout for this and 99.9999999999999999999999% of the commentary I saw was just people saying basic shit like "trans rights", telling the streamer that they were disappointed in their decision to purchase and play the game on stream and they would not be watching/following any longer, and pointing out that your $60 to trans lifeline wasn't gonna do jack shit compared to the disgusting amount of influence JK has.
(Just so everyone is clear... I, you know, I agree with these statements. Especially that last point, that "but I donated $60 to trans lifeline!" is a placebo to make yourself feel like you've done something to counterbalance. A dollar in JKR's pocket is worth a hundred in trans lifeline's, because JKR has a fuckton of money she can throw at anything she wants to support or oppose, is friends with people in government who will listen to her, and despite the backlash she's still an incredibly well known, influential person. Streamers and Youtubers are even worse tbh, because not only did they put money in JKR's pockets, they're now actively advertising and profiting off of the game. Why don't you put all of the profits you make from your streams toward trans lifeline too, if you're such an ally?)
And this is not something where I was just going into pro-trans-people-should-be-allowed-to-live circles. I was looking at compilations from supporters of the streamers trying to condemn people for the hate, and this was the kind of thing people were pulling up. Now I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure when you're trying to demonstrate that brutal harassment is happening, you go for the most fucked up shit you can find. Sooooo if that's the best they were coming up with, either their perception of what constitutes harassment is grievously warped, or they genuinely couldn't find anything harder than someone on twit with a trans flag in their display name saying "trans rights". Which is... telling.
I did, however, see a lot of really disgusting harassment from transphobes leaving hateful shit on youtube videos and tweets from trans creators! You can find it pretty easily, actually, it's literally all over any trans creator's videos speaking up about the game. Even chill ones that were like "I'm not saying you're a bad person for buying this game, but you're not my ally" which, you know. Yeah.
So like, you know, ~cis opinions~ and all, but kiiiiiiiinda feels like maybe one side was blatantly trying to martyr streamers based on some critique they received and maybe a small group of bad actors harassing them to motivate and justify harassment of trans people. Which, you know, if you've ever been a member of a marginalized community, should be an extremely familiar tactic to you by now.
And the thing that really fucks me off is that it's not hard to enjoy the stupid wizard game without putting money into the pockets of someone who literally wants their fellow humans dead. This is a very rare instance in life where you actually can have your cake and eat it too. Just buy it used, I've been saying that for months. The profit from used games go entirely to the store you purchased them from. And hey, another reason to not let physical die out! It requires that someone, somewhere buy it new first, but let's be real we all know that people were gonna buy the stupid wizard game and there was nothing we were gonna be able to do to stop them.
That's what I was going to do if the game piqued my interest (which tbh, the more I saw of it the less interested in actually playing it at some point I got. I mean I like the stupid wizard world as much as the next Zilennial but they aren't selling me shit unless it's a cozy wizard school life sim. There aren't even romance options! That's like half the reason to play a not!Bioware game! And I don't want to play a stupid 15 year old. And I've heard all of the outfits are atrocious and I'm sorry, I'm a fashion over function player.)
Also, while I'm ranting, here's an unpopular opinion for you: the blatant dick sucking by review outlets of one of the most mid looking games of 2023 was excruciatingly painful to watch. Did you see some of those reviews? Fucking ridiculous. "There's only six spells, the texture pop in is godawful, the game runs like shit, the world is boring. 9/10". Like yeah I get that review outlets are naturally going to be biased toward positive reviews so they can continue getting early access and perks, but GOD they could at least pretend. And it'll still probably get GotY because it's the wizard IP you remember from when you were a kid! Member? I member!

The point of sn is that it's a recovery server, its main point is resource and experience sharing, which means it focuses heavily on the therapeutic and medical side of the disorder, navigating therapy as a CDD system, shame as a CDD system, links to free books and articles (my library is massive now) etc
Many of the members are in additional servers that are explicitly pro endogenic, and it's talked about a LOT. At least half the active members (a conservative estimate) and mods talk about being in these servers for other aspects of their experience, but they don't receive the same kind of advice and resources in those spaces. They heavily lack accurate medical information and many don't encourage discussions about the disordered aspects of DDs.
I really wish you'd give up on this, the server REALLY isn't what you think it is, and you were never that big of a deal until you started posting constantly about the server with claims that just... really weren't accurate or truthful. And you're still going, months later.
It's stressful and paranoia inducing. You're hurting people.
It's just a space that focuses on navigating the medical aspects of being disordered, and yes, there are a good number of mixed origin systems in there, and dedicated spaces to discussing spirituality in relation to systemhood (dedicated because many members have religious trauma and/or are prone to delusional thinking when exposed randomly and unexpectedly to religious information), among other things.
The server is only "anti endo" in that endogenic systems that want to argue the trauma basis of DID aren't welcome, because that's the point of the server. Trauma. And we struggle enough, we don't want to argue in our safe space about our disorder and trauma.
Because it's not a syscourse server.
Stop trying to hurt innocent people just looking for a specific type of space to discuss specific things.
Please.
That's cool that they had spaces for discussing spirituality. I'm sorry if my post spread misinformation.
I do want to stress again though that this particular post was not an attack on the Survivor's Network as a whole.
My issue here is with certain individuals who come out of that space with a skewed idea of what syscourse is because of that space.
And this is still true whether the mixed origin systems are completely absent from the server, or simply sequestered away from the syscourse channel. The fact is that you have people who have been hanging out largely in a "syscourse" environment with no endogenic systems, and where spiritual matters aren't allowed to be discussed. Do you feel that's a fair assessment of the syscourse channel?
Do you agree that this might contribute to people's skewed perception of syscourse when they come back to Tumblr, and speak wistfully of how they want syscourse here to be more like it is in the server's syscourse channel?
I really wish you'd give up on this, the server REALLY isn't what you think it is
I mean, what I think is that it's a recovery space that helps a lot of people with CDDs...
That happens to have a mod team made up of people who have repeatedly attacked me personally over the course of two years, and who addressed the server's admin's fakeclaiming and misgendering of me (paired with transphobic accusations of fetishism) by creating a 20 point list of things I said last November to explain why I actually deserved it.
A list, by the way, that was filled with lies and misrepresentations about my own words and makes it really hard to take any of their statements about other events in the server at face value.
Because if the mods are going to lie and mislead people about what I said in public, I have no reason to trust that what they're saying happens in spaces that I can't see are true.
It's a he said/she said with disgruntled members of the server vs mods caught lying in the very document that's intended to set the record straight.
I should also make it clear that a lot of my issues with the server are not with every member. I realize that it's a diverse group of over 200 members.
But the admin and the mod team who compiled that document have established themselves as liars and snakes, and I do not trust them or their descriptions of these events in the slightest.
This is really veering way off course...
The original point is this:
There is a group of syscoursers who have a very watered-down idea of what syscourse could and should be, in part because of occupying a space where endogenic system weren't present and talk of spirituality was, if present in the server, was at least sequestered away from syscourse discussions.
These people who may claim to be pro-endo or endo neutral expect everyone to get along because that works in their private bubbles.
They expect syscourse with endogenic systems to be the same as it is in those bubbles where syscourse stance isn't relevant, and try to paint it as a "both sides" issue when endogenic systems aren't tolerant towards anti-endos.
