I recently found a blog from 2012 that I once wrote with. Twelve years ago when I first started roleplaying on Tumblr. It was an adult fandom with heavy adult themes. We used language that's 'unacceptable' today, we wrote plotlines that are easily 'cancelled' today, we spoke to each other only through Tumblr asks and fanmail (remember that??). Going through the blog, I had a wave of nostalgia and happiness like I've not had in a long time. The comradery and goofy plots, not one person bothered by the mad shit we wrote. For me, that was the best time in roleplay. I know that there were a few rotten apples and I know that discord and IM are great for active plotting and communication. But back then, things were just different. You wrote on the fly and you wrote in character which prompted you to think on your feet more and wing more plots. The only partners you spoke to ooc were the ones who you really grew close to. You didn't just blindly add every partner on social media. You weren't worried about what you posted because people didn't care back then about words - it was much harder to offend people then as it is now. I miss those days so desperately and when it comes to rp, what I wouldn't give to experience that fandom and that feeling once more. It can't ever be recaptured unfortunately, but it was heart warming to see a little reminder of it. Wherever you are now, writing partner from twelve years ago in a small, numbered title of a popularish game series, I hope you're doing well and thank you for the memories.

When Ben went to his fathers about letting VK'S into the isle, he never imagined that one of his dads would embrace it so much.

Y/N was the more calm and understanding one of the couple, so while Adam was worried and skeptical about letting them in. Y/N encouraged it, even convincing his husband to go with it.

While the beginning was rough, things slowly started to fall into place, and as Ben and Mals relationship bloomed, his dad Y/N was making one for himself.

When they first met properly it was an accident, Y/N was walking down the long halls of the palace to the library when a small talking dog suddenly ran into his legs.

"I am NOT taking a bath, I hate water, go back to being scared of me and leave me alone." The dog spoke, and Y/N chuckled. Picking up the same animal.

"Your not very good at running away if your just going to run into another person." He said, and the dog groaned at being captured. And after a spilt second, A head of white and black hair comes sprinting around the corner. Only to stop abruptly at the sight of one of the kings holding his pet.

Carlos bows his head, not really knowing what to do. "I-Im sorry your highness! I didn't mean to let him run loose in the castle, he slipped from my hands and-" Carlos was cut off by a laugh.

"You can look up, I'm not mad at all. I needed some entertainment to my boring day." Y/N smiles at the boy. "If I'm not mistaken, you are Carlos correct?"

His eyes widen at that, not expecting the king to address him so nicely. "Yeah, I am." Y/N smiles at that. "Well its nice to meet you, and your dog is..?"

Before Carlos can even answer the dog spoke for himself, "Its dude, and I am NOT taking a bath." Y/N laughs harder. "I'm afraid your wash is inevitable, but perhaps if Carlos is willing, it could be stalled?" He looks up at the teen.

"What do you mean?" Carlos asks.

"I was about to head down to the library, its my favourite place to relax. But it gets lonely as well. Would you care to join me?" Not expecting that answer, Carlos's eyes widened. He thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, it could be fun."

So the two walked to the library together, along with dude. Chatting about anything and everything.

That was how it started, and they got closer. The attention of the adult that Carlos got was unlike anything he received. If wasn't the tight lipped smiles like the staff, or the manipulative love like his mother.

No.

Y/N cared. He had genuine interest in Carlos as a whole. He helped with school, teen drama, sports, advice, when he just needed to rant. Carlos could almost say he was like a dad to him.

But as their Visits became more frequent. His friends started to get curious. He doesn't know why but he didn't want to tell them of his relationship with one of the kings.

So any time they would ask, he would blush and mumble some random excuse. Making sure to bring dude with him and bolting out of the dorms.

But they were all to curious now, and one day was the final straw.

Today sucked to put it lightly. Carlos spent all week studying for this test, and despite Y/N's advice he stayed up all night too, getting no sleep. And it was all just to fail.

And then during lunch he slipped and spilled mash potatoes and gravy all over himself.

But to top it all off, Chad was unrelenting in targeting him during practice. And it was to much.

On the brink of tears, Carlos storms into the dorm room to change.

The rest of the group was relaxing in the room waiting, looking at Jay to try and find answers to which he just shrugged.

When the over stimulated boy came back out of the bathroom the group immediately began to express their worries.

"What's wrong?" Evie asked.

"Did something happen?" Mal added.

"If you need to talk we are here you know?" Jay said, and the whole group nodded. But without a word Carlos ran out. And dude, knowing where he was going. Jumped out of bed to follow.

All of them being extremely worried for their friend. They followed as well.

Y/N was going through some documents when his office doors were burst open. He opens his mouth to chastise the person when he looks up and sees the very distraught boy there. Panting with water eyes.

His eyebrows furrow with concern and he stands, immediately going to him. "Carlos? What's the matter?" Y/N asks, but instead of getting an answer, the teen hugs him tightly, and he cries.

The kings heart clenched at this. He embraces Carlos tightly while gently rubbing his back. "Shhh its alright, just breath."

Soon enough dude comes running in, immediately sitting at their feet, wanting to help comfort the boy as well.

What Y/N wasn't expecting was seeing his friends and even his son staring with wide eyes. But he shoots them a gently smile. One that promises an explanation later.

He makes eye contact with Ben, and as if they had a silent conversation. His son nods and softly closes the door to his office.

Turning his attention back to Carlos, he notices that the boy has calmed down. Unwrapping his arms to wipe his eyes.

"What's going on Carlos?" Y/N asks in a soft voice.

The teens sniffs, shaking his head and taking a deep breath. "Today really sucked and I-... I don't know if I'm cut out for this." He responds quietly.

Y/N smiled sadly. "Well, can I tell you a story?"

Confused, Carlos just nods. And the king took a deep breath before starting.

"You see, A long time ago, there was this boy. He grew up in a small town that had a very fixed mindset. But you see this boy didn't like to be stuck in that mindset. All the people viewed him as weird. His likes and dislikes were so uncommon that many would talk about him behind his back, or so they thought but he heard everything."

Closing his eyes he pauses, before continuing.

"It was like that for most of his life, until he finally found someone else who wasn't like the others, and while it took a lot of warming up. They eventually fell for each other. This other man cared about his interests and didn't reject them. He helped the boy grow and see more of what he liked. And the boy helped the other to become a better person. And just like any cheesy love story, they fell in love."

Y/N chuckles, but Carlos looks intrigued. "..but how is that supposed to help me?"

The adult looks eyes with him, voice as soft as it is serious. "Carlos, as long as you have people who love you for who you are, you can do anything you want. And I know for a fact you have a group right outside those doors that do."

Who are some of your favourite writers here?

That's a tough one because I love A LOT of them, but here are the ones that have stuck out to me.

Firstly I'll talk about some Wanda writers:

@mionemymind: one of the most compelling writers out there. I think I have a personal bias because we're similar and share similar interests (star wars lol), they've literally written a star wars based wanda fic!!! Apart from that they have really good one shots and stories. My personal favorite one shots have to be To Be Loved Is To Be Considered, The Actress & The Geek, and my personal favorite Blood Drive.

Aside from being a writer Mionemymind is also a really great person to the community and friends, and I can't tell you how many times I've smiled because of their reblogs. Truly awesome sauce.

@targaryenmarvel: From the moment her story "Fallin all in you" came onto my feed, I was desperately hooked. Absolutely one killer of a story and I can't wait for more. Really great writing and its just so perfect, that story meant everything to me at one point <3

@fortuositywritings: I love everything about this authors writing, but my most favorite thing about their style is the humor. It's so natural and well paced, it makes me smile without fail every time. They aren't as active, and I hope they're doing amazing but if I could let this author know that their series I Said No, and Love Bug changed my writing forever, I would do it in a heartbeat. They're one of the reasons I'm writing for Wanda here today.

@ziggyzolch: I discovered their fic on ao3 first and I've got to say it has me hooked. They deal with more serious topics on series and its one of my favorite parts about their style, honestly Your Prettiness is Seeping Through has got to be hands down one of my favorite series in 2024. Amazing work and great representation to those who need it.

And lastly @wandascosmic: I haven't seen much of her until today but her new series you belong with me has quickly become so special to me that I can't help but mention her. The humor between reader and Sam is amazing, but also the interactions between reader and Wanda have my heart aching so sweetly. I feel like a leech with how quickly I've sunk into this story, you belong with me is so sweetly written and I enjoy every second of it. Amazing work.

Now for the Jenna Ortega fandom, I think I have quite a list. There's so many amazing writers out there it's crazy, I'm always so well fed by both fandoms.

I've got to start out with the legendary @cobaltperun: I binged Lost, for 2 days straight. I was HOOKED. so hooked this story got in the way of my personal life because I couldn't stay away from my phone. I love the way you write Tara and gosh did the series kill and heal me. Aside from Lost, Woe out the storm is also such a sweet story. The whole concept Raiju is so interesting to me now and damn do I love a good slow burn. Im just so deeply impressed too by their rapid request process, and how much they get done, its moving.

Another legend @letorip: First I've just got to mention, his headcannons for characters are amazing and I'm CONSTANTLY having to restrain myself from asking for more because I would only continue. I highly recommend them, they're like stories in themselves. But aside from Headcannons, my personal favorite fic of his would have to be somethin' stupid, especially part 3. The whole series is a must read and gosh do I love the writing, its so beautifully described, every inch of it.

@ajortga: every fic of hers is a fucking BANGER. there's never a fic in which I'm left dissatisfied. I love it all, eat it all. When I find her on my feed, you know I'm immediately digging in. Everything is always so fluffy and nice and just makes a girl feel better yk? I completely recommend reading Cute and Absolute, My Girl, and Bear hugs. All super fluffy and heart warming fics, its crazy <333

@persevereforahappyending: This author stabs me, kills me, brings me back to life, and then stabs me again with angst but I go back every time. Specifically to their newest series A Legacies Secret which is. So. Fucking. Good. They really cooked with that one. Every Friday like clockwork I'm checking for notifications and I'm never disappointed. Their writing style just leaves a grip on you and the plots are so clever too, they're very unique and I love them. Luck Runs Out is another great series and damn I revisit that thing once every two weeks for a reminder on what true love really is.

And lastly but not least one of my newest favorite authors of all time is @honorarysimp: Uncanny Distortion was one of the best things I ever read, the plot, whilst held similarities to scream, had such a creative own twist to the authors imagination. I absolutely loved it, Tara and Detective made my day for weeks, and then came Rumor has it and now two others hold my heart, and break it, a lot. this series feels like its gonna hurt me. But overall Honorary simp is such an underrated writer and I really hope that more people will notice you out there and give you some more well deserved attention because God damn your fics are masterfully crafted and I don't even have the words to describe how much I adore them, all I can say is that I carved a space in my heart for Detective and Lucky.

i did see this cuz im also active on twt as well. its kind of a terrible situation because people are mad about there not being any trigger warnings for the scene when its a clip leaked from an episode that isnt even supposed to be out yet? many people are fighting about how SA should be portrayed in media and since i cannot really speak on it, not being a victim myself, i have seen some of my friends who are, get threatened and harrassed over expressing that angel dusts entire story and how it is shown makes them feel incredibly validated and represented. it is really terrible how quickly people on twitter resort to to incredibly nasty insults and threats over such complex topics, tbh i havent rlly seen anything like it in any other fandom before. :( i know its even worse rn cuz hazbin is right around the corner but still.. i hope i can bring some positivity and joy to people in any case.

depending on what your digital body is themed around i think this would determine how gangle would feel about it... like zooble is mismatched and is seen taking out their antennae as well as their limbs being snagged off by jax... with zooble, is makes sense, they look like a mismatched mess of different parts.. so if you were something that could reasonably do the same thing i think she can overlook it... now the first time would still be a shock, no doubt about it, regardless of theme.. very careful whenever theres a reason they need to get close to your head, she does not wanna knock it off and potentially upset you

First of all, I don't think anyone refuses to admit Glenn is anything but perfect, and I also don't think anyone excuses his "shitty behaviour," but while you only may have just become aware of this moment, it was first brought to light in 2017, right before Glenn left the show "for good" and has kinda been hashed to death. If you're genuinely asking 'why is no one talking about Glenn's temper tantrums from 8+ years ago,' idk how to answer that question other than: why would we be? It's just not relevant

We know, from set stories and Glenn himself, that Glenn has gone through many ups and downs on the set of Sunny. He's spoken quite a bit about how his attitude has ruined the vibe and created a lot of tension in the writers room and on set before, and it's something he needed Rob to bring to his attention in Season 11 because he couldn't recognise it harmed other people (and that's what led him to realise he needed to walk away). I think it's not, like, a hidden or dismissed aspect of his personality that he's a diva, even today after righting his attitude and returning, he still tends to "method act" to a degree when he's playing Dennis and comes off a certain way

So yes, he's been "exposed" as a brat on set and a little entitled in general, and he's got some questionable views on health, for sure and I think that can make you dislike him and if that's so...that's fine. I don't think anyone in this fandom cares if you do or don't, honestly, but that works both ways.

People who post about Glenn in fond ways aren't going to disclose that they know he's entitled and centrist every time they post anything about him, but whenever something does happen/come out, people do criticise it in the moment. The Podcast brought a lot to light and it seemed like weekly we were scrutinizing something RCG said but, like, there's genuinely nothing Glenn has done in the past year that the fandom has chosen to ignore for the sake of excusing his shitty behaviour...? Are we supposed to rehash dead and buried RCG drama just because it was reposted to a different platform?

I get if you're just learning about him as a person now it can be weird to see most people who are actively talking about him seem to just be stanning him blindly, but that's really not true. The TASP days are just behind us, and Glenn's PR is very strong with his gay whiskey tour front and center (and you're asking me lol).

A/N: Hey, nice to meet you! I'm sure no one knows me yet, but my name is Violet. New in the tickle community (and LaDs community in general although ive been playing for a long time now). You've just come back from a long and exhausting day at work at the Hunter's Association. You step into you and Zayne's shared apartment, tiredly walking down the hall towards the bedroom. Pushing open the door, you see Zayne lying on the bed, his face turned towards the large window as he looks out at Linkon City's nightscape. His expression is somewhat empty, emotionless. Something seems wrong. You take a step forward.

Zayne can sense your presence, the atmosphere in the room shifting slightly. He doesn't turn to look at you, not right away. Instead, he continues staring out the window, the silence hanging heavily in the air, broken only by the sound of the soft rain outside.

Eventually, he speaks, his voice barely above a whisper. "You're back late."

You walk over, putting your purse on the nightstand as you stand by the foot of the bed. "How was your day?"

Zayne finally turns his head, his gaze moving to fix on you. There's a weariness in his eyes, a tiredness that he usually hides behind his usual cool facade. He takes a moment before replying, his voice low and quiet.

"Long. Busy. The hospital, the same as always. And yours?"

You take off your coat and hang it on the nearby chair where Zayne's white doctor's scrubs already sway in the occasional warm breeze coming from the heater on the floor, getting into the bed. You lie down next to him, both of you just staring up at the ceiling. The room hangs in dullness, a monotonous feeling you don't usually experience when you're with Zayne. "The same. Missions, assigned one after another. Fighting, maybe around seventy Wanderers today."

Zayne turns onto his side, facing you. He says nothing for a few moments, just studying your face in the dim light. There's a faint scent of the outside clinging to your skin. He reaches out, his fingers gently tracing a drop of rain on your cheek.

"You're damp." His gaze falls on your hunter's uniform, the black and red leather soaked.

You nod. With nothing else to say, you decide on just stating the obvious. "It was raining. A little too much."

Zayne's fingers continue their path down your cheek, lingering for a moment on the soft skin of your jawline before they move to a strand of your wet hair.

"You could've just avoided the downpour, you know. Instead, you chose to come in like this. You'll catch a cold, Y/N."

You turn from the ceiling to look at him. You crack a half-smile, a lousy attempt at lifting the mood a bit. "Of course. Of course you know that I would run through the rain like a maniac any day than be a sane person and use an umbrella. No matter how long the distance from the Hunter's Association to the bus station."

Zayne can't help but chuckle back softly at your lighthearted comment, his eyes softening as he looks at you. His hand wanders back to your cheek, his touch tender.

"That I do. How could I ever forget my lover's bold and wild personality? How admirable."

His gaze roams over you, his eyes taking in the sight of you in your work outfit. It's a sight he's become quite fond of.

You finally bring a hand to gently caress his cheek with the tips of your fingers. Concern and softness line your face and voice. "What is it, Zayne? Why the long face tonight?" There. You've broached the topic.

He leans into your touch, his eyes fluttering closed for a moment. It's as if he's savoring the feel of your fingers on his skin, grounding him in the moment.

"It's nothing, dear. Just a long day."

But even as the words leave his mouth, Zayne knows that's only partly true. There's something lingering beneath the surface, something that's been troubling him all day. "Just... work. The usual. Nothing I can't handle."

He shifts a little on the bed, turning onto his back. He's still looking up at the ceiling, the lines on his forehead deepening as his thoughts seem to weigh heavily on his mind.

Your eyes watch Zayne turn away, a soft smile appearing on your lips. Then the smile fades into an indifferent expression as you suddenly push yourself onto your palms and move swiftly, gently straddling him. You look down at him with a teasing yet nonchalant look in your eyes. One hand resting on one side of Zayne's head, your other hand comes down to gently prod at his side. Your voice comes out low but affectionate, teasing him with a poker face. "Oh, is that so?"

Zayne's eyebrows raise in surprise as you suddenly move to hover over him. It's definitely not something he was expecting, though he can't say he's complaining. He doesn't resist, allowing you to get comfortable on top of him. A hint of curiosity flickers in his eyes as he looks up at you, his expression a mix of surprise and amusement.

"Y/N? Wh-what are you doing, l-love?"

You lean down just a bit to look into his eyes with a fond but mocking gaze, your hand continuing to gently tickle his side. The hint of a teasing smile ghosts your lips. "You used my shampoo again, didn't you?"

Zayne can't seem to grasp what you're trying to do, what relevance this has with the situation at hand.

His forehead wrinkles in confusion, looking up at you with a sense of bewilderment and curiosity. But the feather-like touches very quickly start to get the best of him. A little too quickly. Zayne can feel the corners of his lips twitching, a slight grin breaking through despite his best efforts to hold it back.

"Wh-at? Your shahampoo? Wh-whahahat does thahat-"

His body involuntarily twitches a little in response to your tickling. Zayne's lips purse, trying to suppress his smile as he looks up at you with a mix of annoyance and amusement.

"A-ahahnd whaht i-if I dahaiid?"

A hint of defensiveness sneaks into his voice. He doesn't deny it, but he's not exactly confessing either. Zayne's eyes narrow slightly as he tries to figure out where this is going.

The nonchalant smile tugging at the corners of your lips grows just a bit as you continue to poke and prod at the skin from the outside of the soft material of his cardigan . "After I constantly told you not to?"

Zayne's eyes flicker with a hint of guilt. He's caught, he can't deny it. Your insistence had clearly fallen on deaf ears, but he wasn't expecting you to call him out on it.

"I…m-miahaight have- aha- uused it a t-time or- ahah- two. N-now lehet m-me-"

Zayne's eyes stare up at you. Although his expression is sheepish, teeth briskly biting down on his lower lip in a desperate attempt to suppress his growing smile, he's really trying to find clues in your stoic demeanor, trying to decipher the meaning behind all this.

Your poker face doesn't budge, but the slightly amused look in your eye hints that you could chuckle a bit just about now at Zayne's broken and flustered confession. Your hand delivering another swift poke to his stomach cuts him off. "Would you remind me, Zayne, how many times have we gone through this?"

Zayne flinches slightly at the poke, a small frown forming on his lips. He knows he's in trouble now, but he still tries to play it cool. He stutters, his tone becoming slightly defensive.

"A f-few t-tahahiimes, I- ahaha!- g-guess! Y-Y/N! Wh-What aahare y-you-"

You can't keep yourself from letting out the low chuckle that finally leaves you as you look down at Zayne's confused and giggling expression as he struggles to give in to the temptation to laugh full-on. Your hand quickens a bit, traveling to his chest with teasing touches. "Hmm, is that so?" You hum in a low voice.

Zayne tries his best to maintain his composure, he really does. But the look in your eyes, the way you're straddling him, your hand still gently tickling his sensitive spots…it's all too much. He can't quite hide the hint of embarrassment in his voice as he giggles, his body jerking sharply underneath you. He glances away, his face flushed.

"S-sthahap! P-plahese! Wh-why d-dahaoes this- Ahaah!-"

It's becoming increasingly difficult for Zayne to maintain his stoic demeanor. You bite back a smile of your own. How cute. Looking into his confused and panicked eyes, your bring your hand lower to his stomach, slipping your hand under his cardigan to drag slow, maddening circles around his navel. "Zayne, dear, would you care to answer a question for me? Would you count stealing as a crime?"

Zayne blinks. He definitely wasn't expecting that. Yet at the same time he's wearily aware of where this is all going, and he doesn't like it. He tilts his head a little, eyes flickering curiously amidst his helpless laughter.

"U-uahahm, yes! Y-yes, I w-wahahaould s-say that steahahealing c-could be c-cahahonsidered a c-crime!"

You hum. "Then would you consider yourself an offender? Of course, if the stolen item was my shampoo."

Zayne's expression flickers for a moment, but as much as he hates to admit it, he has no choice but to submit to his deeds. Just any means by which he can get himself out of this situation. He glances away for a moment in an attempt to hide the very rapidly rising blush on his cheeks, his lips parted as sweet giggles pour out.

"I-Y-yes! I-i hahave c-committed a g-greahaht c-crime! Y/N! I-I b-beg yhahaour f-forgivenahaess! P-please hahave m-mercyaha!"

You tilt your head to the side, your hand rising higher towards his ribs. "Is that so? Then Zayne, darling, would you kindly tell me what all offenders require?"

Zayne swallows thickly, his eyes darting down to your hand as it moves higher towards his ribs, the touch sending a shiver down his spine. His eyes widen with alarm, body squirming and jerking sharply under your touch, but it's too late. There's no escape now.

"N-NoaAha! Pl-pleahase d-doahaon't! Y/N! DHAHAON'T-"

His arms immediately flail, his hands coming up, desperately grabbing, pushing, pulling, doing anything in a hopeless attempt to take hold of your skilled fingers in his. You watch Zayne's face contort, unable to hold back the involuntary spasms of giggles and laughter that overtake him as he struggles underneath you. You can't help the smile that tugs at your own lips at the sight. No matter how much Zayne might lift in the gym or how sharp-witted he may be at the hospital, he's helpless right now. Completely helpless. And the best part is, he knows it. Too well.

You're quick to pin one of his arms under your knee and the other down against the bed with one hand as your free hand taunts at the exposed skin of his underarms. You lock eyes with Zayne, his own widening in surprise and panic amidst the helpless giggles that bubble from his mouth. They sparkle with mischief. Your voice drops to a note even lower. "That's right. Punishment." You speak as you watch him go crazy, shaking and laughing helplessly the moment your hands come into contact with the sensitive skin.

"W-wahaait! WAIT! Y/N! HaAhAha! Y/N! N-nOt tHerEeAHaHhaha!"

Zayne's body falls into involuntary spasms. He laughs uncontrollably, his body squirming and twisting on the bed as he desperately tries to free himself, but your hold is too strong.

You simply tilt your head, looking down at him. "Hmm? Not here, you say?"

Sweet, strangled laughter flows from Zayne's mouth, his body jerking and twitching beneath you. His arms twist and pull desperately, but you've got him completely immobilized. You know he would never bring his Evol out on you, no matter how "severe" situations might get. At least, in this position, he's too weak to do even a single thing to stop you.

"N-nOhahAhah! S-sToAhahP, pl-plAHehHshese-ahA!"

Something similar to flowers blooms in your chest as you look down at Zayne's brightly lit face. His lips part in the most adorable heart-shaped smile, his eyes shut tight and crinkled with joy. A rosy pink blush stains his cheeks, his hair scattered across the bedsheets as his head shakes back and forth, almost as if trying to get rid of the feather-like but torturous sensation. As your fingers dance along the tender skin, you open your mouth to speak.

"I'll let you go. On one condition. That you answer my last question."

Zayne writhes under you, going insane at your gentle touch. As your words fall upon his ears, he nods vigorously.

"Y-yAHAhaEes! A-aNAhYthiang! J-jUsT, plEeEHAeaSe, Y/N, st-StoaHOop!"

Your hand travels from his right to his left underarm. "Would you care to tell me, Zayne, why you are so keen on using only my shampoo to wash your hair? There are so many types we buy whenever we go out shopping. Why, then, does only the soap that I use for my hair fall into your hands every time?"

Zayne shrieks, his body jerking and twitching involuntarily. He tries to reply, but all that falls out is more helpless laughter.

"HAahahaAha…! I- I L-liiaHahAke t-the smAheEhell!"

He tries to squirm away, his back arching slightly as he tries to escape your touch, but it's absolutely no use. You hum.

"The smell? Hmm, is that so? And are you implying that your shampoo doesn't have a fragrance?"

Zayne nods vigorously, tiny droplets of pure joy beginning to form in the corners of his closed eyes. His voice comes out labored, chest heaving as he tries to catch his breath between fits of laughter.

"Y-yEAs! N-nOt tHe s-sSAmAhamE! hAhaHaAa…"

"Not the same? Would you care to elaborate for me?"

Zayne's eyes water slightly with mirth, completely at your mercy.

"I- b-bECahAuSe it m-mAHahaKes me th-ThIHink of y-yOuo! HaAHha! I-it remiEhEinds m-mE of y-Ahaoyou every t-time I UuhSese i-iT!"

As quickly as it had started, Zayne's playful torture comes to an end, with you bringing your hands to rest on either side of his head as you look down at him. Your eyes soften a little, just enough not to lose the teasing element in your demeanor. You let out a soft chuckle, holding his gaze. Bending down until your head is just a few inches from Zayne's ear as you take a soft inhale, you speak in a low but fond voice.

"Keep using it. It smells better on you."

You lift your head up for a moment to hold Zayne's eyes with a gaze of affectionate teasing, the nonchalance never leaving your expression. Then you gently push yourself off him, rolling over to the other end of the bed and pulling the blanket over yourself to look out the window in one swift move, your back turned towards him.

Zayne blinks, completely breathless and dumbfounded. His heaving body relaxing against the bedsheet as he tries to recover from the tickle attack, his mouth falls open slightly, the surprise, shock, and disbelief reflected on his face as he processes what you've just said. Slowly, a small smile appears on his lips, his eyes softening as he turns to look at your back.

A few moments later, you hear the soft rustling of the sheets, and then finally the familiar warmth and comfort of Zayne's body behind yours.

"Is that why you chose this topic? Because you knew it would get me feeling all fuzzy and loved for on the inside? Because you knew it would help me recover from whatever I was feeling down about? Hmm?"

You don't turn around or say anything, letting his words settle in and the silence to give him his answer. Zayne slowly presses his chest up against your back, his arm wrapping around your waist, pulling you closer to him. He gently nuzzles against your soft hair, inhaling deeply, savoring the familiar scent of his— no, our— shampoo. The rise and fall of our breaths slowly fall into rhythm. For a moment, Zayne just stays there.

Finally, he speaks in a quiet voice.

"You always know just what to say. How do you do it?"

You finally turn around to look up at him. A soft smile ghosts your lips. You lock eyes with him, tenderness and affection taking over your features. Your voice comes out laced with a sense of care, barely a soft whisper. "How do you feel, Zayne?"

Zayne looks down at you, his expression a mixture of tenderness and gratitude. His eyes hold your gaze with a mirrored fondness. His lips part just enough to release a small sigh, his hand coming up to gently caress your cheek.

"Better. So much better."

He pulls you closer, his other hand wrapping around to draw soothing circles on your side, holding you against him. You let his face nuzzle into your silky tendrils again, leaning into his warm embrace. "Much better?"

Zayne nods, his eyes fluttering closed. He feels completely at ease.

"Much better. I don't know how you do it, but you always seem to know exactly what I need to hear in the moment. Exactly what brings me out of the darkness that pulls me in, in a time of need."

Zayne feels a lump form in his throat. He looks down at you with a mix of gratitude and tenderness, as if he never wants to let go. A silent vow to protect you from anything and everything that may ever hurt you, ever dare to try and blow out your candle. Silently thanking the universe for bringing you into his life. He swallows. There's a small pause before he speaks again, his voice barely a whisper.

"Y/N. I love you."

You melt into Zayne's embrace when you see the former tears of laughter turn into those of tender love, bringing a hand to gently brush them away from his eyes. "I love you too, Zayne. Very, very much."

He looks down at you, his eyes tracing over your face, taking in every detail as if it's the first time he's seen you. Then he leans forward, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead.

"Stay with me tonight? I find it easier to sleep when you're by my side and not rushing off to some emergency midnight mission."

Your fingers gently brush across his face, drying Zayne's tears with a tender smile on your own lips. "Always, my love. Always."

hi, im new to the hurricanes. curious from a fandom pov: who are the best friends in the room? are there any like bigger ships? i want to know your little guys so bad so they can be MY little guys too!! any lore for any of the guys that i should know, or just do you know of any intro to the canes primers?

First of all, HELLO & WELCOME!!!!! It gets a little silly in caniac land but I've only ever had great experiences with other canes fans here and irl, and I hope you'll come to love our little community as well <3

unfortunately, you have come in at a tragic time for carolina hurricanes frienships, as our hot boy best friend squad was recently decimated with the rantanen/necas/drury trade - neci & svech were probably the closest we had to a dynamic duo type :(

we did lose teuvo teravainen during the last offseason(TRAGIC), who was good friends with sebastian aho - he and Seth Jarvis apparently tore it up at aho's wedding this summer. We did keep our finn numbers up with the rantanen aquisition, so our honorary finn jarvy can keep his citizenship.

other good friends are svech & kochetkov who are both younger guys on the team & share the russian bond - svech was his translator when he was first called up & kooch didn't speak much english, here they are being cute as hell about kooch accidentally cursing in an interview. kooch's english has gotten much better this season & he's done a couple of solo interviews with our favorite chaotic color commentator Tripp Tracy (arguably one of the larger personalities in the canes lb)

I'm not really into any shippy stuff with the canes - I think Svech/Kochetkov has some traction, but its definitely not in the realm of the bigger hrpf ships, and I don't personally ship it. If you want to go the historical route, there's always Jeff Skinner/Eric Staal which was HUGE in the early days of hrpf

no canes introduction would be complete without mentioning the seth jarvis phenomenon, either! just today he posted the world's goofiest video from a nascar race with staal, martinook & chatfield. If you're looking for adorable goober, personality extraordinaire, look no further. He is never beating the just a little guy allegations. he does hops with svech as part of his pregame warmup (very adorable)

Also, in a completely objective statement of fact, we have one of the greatest d-men in the league, Jaccob Slavin. He saves us the game practically every time he's on the ice, and he's an absolute angel with some of the lowest penalty minutes in the league consistently. if he ever leaves i will be doing something drastic

and finally, for a primer, I think the most recent one is here from the start of the 23-24 season by @pyotrkochetkov & @smileysvech. It's mostly accurate for team lore, but you'll see as you go through just how much our team has changed over the course of this season & last year! We lost a ton of our d-core over the summer when their contracts were up, and our new GM has been making some BOLD moves with trades & contracts, which is exciting to see from a team perspective but sucks so fucking bad when its your guys leaving :((((((
