What follows this unceremonious departure from Antiva is a level of chaos rivaling even Zevran's reign of terror as all the Talons scramble to grab the empty seat Lucanis left behind to live his best life as a househusband. House Dellamorte that has limped along clinging to power through blood and cruelty finally falls and in the resulting chaos and confusion either Teia or Viago end up seizing the seat of the First Talon. They're not sure whether to thank Lucanis or strangle him for causing such upheaval. Lucanis is too happy spending his days baking bread and testing out new recipes to really care.

Tonight I found baby girl doing something probably no snarent ever expects to find- wearing makeup.

For her first try putting on winged eyeliner all by herself she did a pretty dang good job.

Yet, despite the X-Men's many triumphs over the mutant known as Sabretooth, his presence still consistently unnerved her. Maybe it was because he seemed to be one of very few who ever really got the best of Logan. Maybe it was his connection to the woman who raised her or to the man who had stolen her heart. After all, she may be mostly invulnerable on the outside, but the same couldn't be said for what was inside.

Despite those feelings, Rogue stood in front of the imposing figure, gloved hands perched on her hips as she stared him down.

Been having a lot of thoughts about The Themes Of It All lately so here are my characters and their major themes/recurring through-lines:

Hallowrove

Cycles - the paradox of being both trapped in and relying on them. Dreading the next loop but not really being sure how to live and be happy if the wheel stops turning. Slowly becoming self-aware and having to make the decision on whether or not to try and break free, amidst the quiet fear of not being able to if they tried.

Going from searching for a place for themself -> creating one in their shape in the Neath, and the difficulty of accepting a place and a life as home after so long spent internalizing that a true home wouldn't be possible.

Sub-themes of relationship to future/present/past, use of free will to make small change in the face of oppressive power structures, distraction vs confronting, rebellion against being seen as anything other than a whole person of many parts

Personhood and subtraction - asks the question What is the minimum requirement for truly being a person? Is reacting like one enough, if the mind is fully gone? Does it matter, if no one will ever know?

Greed and consumption purely for its own sake, wanting just to have, destroying just to take, the effort to fill a bottomless void

Personhood and addition - How broad can an individual's experiences be before they stop being traditionally individual? Does living thousands of years, experiencing several lifetimes, and purposely acting against your core self for decades just for a different experience dilute or expand that core enough to no longer be one? If you are everything, everyone, does it not spill over to become nothing?

Time and scale - hard to describe this one, feels like it needs a bit more development, but there's definitely something here related to her grey morality and the belief that if a harm or joy won't matter in 200 years it never really mattered at all

Pain is being an ulquihime shipper but having to block/avoid most of them because they are weirdly anti-Orihime, anti-bleach ending, or "anti how Kubo wrote Orihime" even though she's one of the most consistently and well-written female characters in Shounen as well as the fact that they try to make Ulquiorra care more about Orihime than he actually did in the manga or even god forbid try to say that Ulquiorra cared more about Orihime than Ichigo did.

can you say what your interpretation of hoax is? both about the song in general and if it was inspired by her last relationship

we know it's about three things: a business relationship that went wrong (scott b), the loss of something that was like family (karlie), and enduring love (joe). i think the key to understanding it is understanding that these three things felt the same way to her at the time, and that at the time, she couldn't figure out why. hoax is a song about betrayal, and while initially, i think it was intended to be about betrayals that caused her a lot of pain and then the person who was the salvation from the pain, it's got shades of...something deeper there. like yes, it is about someone willing to sit there and keep believing in you even when you don't believe in yourself or that they could possibly really love you through this. it's also about that same person making you feel really defeated and hurt by not letting you do the same for them (while Other Issues are starting to rear their head). to put it plainly, it's about three betrayals, and it's only just started making sense (both to her and to us) why one felt like the others

Okay uhhh here's a little more info on my ideas for my Tgs Hadestown au!!

Obviously let's start with Jasper and Rachel as Orpheus and Eurydice!

This was a very obvious choice because I mean- come on that explains itself so I really don't have to say much here

Now this is where my choices start getting a little bit finicky, I wanted Lanyon and Jekyll as Hades and Persephone but I was unsure as to who is who but here we are with Jekyll as Hades and Lanyon as Persephone!

When first thinking of this I played with the idea of both him (Jekyll) and Hyde sharing the role of Persephone (one would be during spring and other winter)

Speaking of Hyde, EVERYONE MEET THE FATES!/ref

Respectively we have Hyde as fate 1/Clotho, Lucy as fate 2/Lachesis, and Frankenstein as fate 3/Atropos (btw if you didn't know the fates are numbered from highest note to lowest, this is also bc in the actual mythos they're youngest to oldest, representing the main stages of life)

Continuing on here's where I am sure on who I want but also this part could literally be anyone (well any lodger) because it's Hermes-

Anyways I chose Ito!! It was between her or maijabi but for the way I think of Hermes and considering the lodger closest to Jasper & Rachel (not to mention Jekyll) is her I figured she was the best fit!

honestly it's been really healing being back to actively contributing things and writing out thoughts on tumblr the last week or so, because while twitter tends to be easier for me to write out Thoughts on without getting overwhelmed, the environment in the twitter fandom circles i'm interested in is not only infested with antis but cliqueish in a way that is caustic to the fucking soul if you try to express a thought that's more than three sentences long--a hundred times over if you're autistic in slightly the wrong way--and it's incredibly reassuring to come back to an environment where the very kindest and most inclusive people toward you are not clearly thinking the r-slur the entire time they interact with you lmao
