Yui is one of my favorite characters, and for a reason. Let me explain:

(Please excuse the spelling mistakes)

1. 𝓔𝓶𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓱𝔂 𝓸𝓻 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓐𝓫𝓲𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓽𝓸 𝓕𝓮𝓮𝓵 𝓢𝓸𝓻𝓻𝔂 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓞𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓼

This is what makes a person strong in my opinion, and Yui has a lot of it. She’s caring, despite the situation that she’s put in. She can admit when she’s wrong, and she genuinely feels bad. A little dense at times, but she still cares. I find her reminding me a lot of what I want to be. And no, I don’t mean her situation, I wouldn’t wish that upon my worst enemies. What I mean is her ability to forgive, her ability to heal. She’s like a golden retriever honestly, and her being genuine is what makes her so likable and is what makes me so confused when she receives hate.

2. 𝐻𝑒𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝒶𝓃𝒹/𝑜𝓇 𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝒷𝑒𝓁𝒾𝑒𝒻

I’ve never really felt comfortable as a queer woman around religious people. But she’s my comfort character, and for a good reason. Her faith, and her desire to not give up is what many of us wish we had the ability to achieve. She doesn’t use her religion as a way to attack, rather as a way to hold herself to moral standards. Yui doesn’t give up fast when it comes to her beliefs, she’s strong and isn’t swayed easily when it comes to something she truly believes, which is something so beautiful in a way.

3. ᴀʙɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴛᴏ ʜᴏʟᴅ ʜᴇʀꜱᴇʟꜰ ᴀᴄᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴀʙʟᴇ

As I mentioned earlier, she, despite being a teenager, is quite accountable. She apologizes when she does something she considers wrong. She tries to her best ability to understand why she made people upset. Not to mention, when she realizes she did something, even unintentionally, that hurt somebody, she genuinely seems to feel bad. I know this sounds pretty basic, but a lot of people seem to lack this, and so do so many ocs in the fandom.

4. Ｈｅｒ Ｅｍｏｔｉｏｎｓ

I know a lot of people love the cold-hearted look, but that isn’t favorable at all to me. Everybody has emotions nearly, except few with certain mental disorders. Yui plays into them, which is so realistic in a way, especially in her age range. Her bad endings reminds me of the female rage trend. If everybody is nonchalant about everything, imagine how boring that would be? No reactions, no nothing. We use art as a way to express our emotions, our backgrounds, everything we ever known. Imagine watching a horror movie for example, and nobody reacts the whole time. There would be no emotional value really. This is why human art is so special, this is why Yui is special. I don’t watch much media, but I’ve never seen a teenage female character that I’ve found interesting and emotionally relatable as Yui. She makes mistakes, she knows that. She isn’t made to be a completely unrealistic character, who is perfect, and fits every beauty standard, not that she’s not pretty, cause she is, but still. She’s perfect in a teenage girl way to me, not in a creepy old man who profits off unrealistic expectations way. She’s one of the realest female characters I’ve ever seen. I wish I was as strong as emotionally that she is.

5. Ｈｅｒ Ｄｅｓｉｇｎ

I could go on for hours about how much I love her and why, but I’m going to cut it short as I have more posts that I want to do!

Anyways, Yui’s design is aesthetically pleasing to me. I actually got into the fandom because of her design, as I saw it on Pinterest and fell in love with the color palette and how pretty she was to me. Her eyes are so pretty, and so is her hair. She looks like she has this warm aura surrounding her, like she’s the sun itself. She’s so simply designed, yet I love her. It’s funny, as somebody who has always been into more alternative fashion, I love her simple girly design. Her facial expressions make me laugh tbh, and she’s always so pretty no matter what she’s in.

6. 𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚙𝚎𝚍 𝙼𝚎 𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚣𝚎 𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚊 𝙻𝚎𝚜𝚋𝚒𝚊𝚗

Now, everybody in Diabolik lovers and also the fandom helped me realize this, but especially Yui. I loved the way she treated others, and started to think about how I would want a woman treating me that way, the way she treated the DL boys. I wanted somebody nice like Yui, but more than a friend.

The DL boys also helped me realize that it wasn’t being a certain way that I couldn’t stand, I just can’t stand idea of being with a man. This fandom also helped me realize this, as no matter how much they characterized the guys, no matter how much empathy they gave them, I was not attracted to them, much less real men. Their anime designs are some of the best I’ve seen, but I still couldn’t find myself, which caused me to go down a rabbit hole, that made me realize I did not like men at all.

the REALest reality is he’s just every child he runs into’s favorite uncle. he’s a horrible influence and you know kids LOVE that. holds them by their ankles, throws them like five feet into a pool, they LOVE it, and it horrifies every reasonable adult nearby. except his friends. they’ve grown immune to the terrifying sights that come with this guy.

(pushing aside the new jigen thing just in case it makes this post age poorly) have you ever met someone who hates kids but children just love them

jigen hates it but he lowkey has some fatherly instincts within. lowkey. it’s faint though don’t expect him to offer to watch your kid for you but like any mildly decent human being he’s not going to let a child run into an electrical fence. usually though those same people don’t just start giving said kid a piggyback ride to guide them back to a more responsible party though but don’t ever bring it up to him

really i think it just comes from a soft spot for mildly vulnerable people. not an obligation he feels exactly just like. this child is miserable. if i made a stupid face, will the child continue to be miserable? granted, if the stupid face does not cheer up the kid, he’s not beating himself up about it either. i said kids LIKED him not that he was GOOD with them

fujiko:

very impartial. again, has the basic human decency to see a child clearly about to hurt themselves within arms reach and moves to stop them, but it’s like. does she care about that child’s hobbies, their favorite color, their latest minecraft build? uh No not really no

not above smiling and cooing over how cute babies are, but again, doesn’t mean SHE FUCKIN WANTS ONE LMAOOOOO it’s just that she has. eyes. if she thinks your baby is ugly on the other hand she won’t exactly TELL you so but her grin is noticeably forced and shes like. “what. an angel. wow. she’s really gonna break hearts someday i’m sure. wow.”

fujiko (pushing aside that fuckass movie) fujiko does not want kids. if she has a kid it’s someone else’s responsibility hands down. it’s not even that she’s afraid of the commitment OF a child (although that admittedly isn’t a thing she’s a fan of) she just knows for a fact that some people on this earth are not meant to be parents and by GOD is she NOT meant to be a parent. honestly it’s a self-awareness she wishes more people had.

i have to be. completely candid here i’ve never really thought about this. but now that i am it’s very clear to me that goemon is the type of person who talks to a 5yo the same way you’d talk to a fully grown man and that’s hilarious

kids are always very interested by him in the like. “why are you so dressed up” “why do you talk like that” “is that a real sword” sense which tends to overwhelm him for a brief blip, but leave him with them for a half hour and come back and he’ll be showing them INSANE hide and seek techniques 

he simultaneously doesn’t understand children at all but is also capable of having fun with them. a big chunk of it depends on his current mood, but if they’re like, nice, pleasant kids, 9 times out of 10 he’ll do like. one cool thing for them just to see them go OWAOAAWW!! he can get a little silly with it. if the situation needs be.

kids either love or hate him immediately. like goemon it tends to revolve around his mood and the mood of the kid in question, because sometimes he goes from sulking about losing (again) to “Oh My God is that your baby? TWO weeks old? just two weeks old? that tiny?” in a heartbeat. conversely children also tend to find him very bullyable. either way they flock to this guy

if you had a six year old and you needed one of these five to watch it for like, three hours, zenigata is your safest bet, but that’s. NOT SAYING MUCH he’s just the only one who’s moderately prepared for like. kid fell down and started crying type things. kid doesn’t WANT to eat spaghetti for lunch but that’s what they have to eat. that type of deal. he puts on this calm but slightly stern tone and the kid's like . okay fine i'll eat it. it's very jarring for anyone who's seen the way he is normally omg that trumpeting is back what the hell is that noi

POINT IS he’s good with kids. not perfect (children imitate the behavior they see you know) but good enough. it’s backed up in canon! in fact it’s so backed up you might even say he might as well have a kid even,

2. I livetweeted the whole thing for some reason (and subsequently left Twitter a few months later)

Anyway, so I’m scrolling through my ridiculously long twt thread to get screenshots and clips and be reminded of important plot beats so I can talk abt them in the video and I’m reliving some of these moments and

Yesterday I was looking for the episode where May loses her second chance at winning the Grand Festival during the battle frontier

I found it and I rewatched the end so I could record the clip I wanted.

Ngl, that was one of the strongest emotional reactions I had during my initial watchthrough. May’s breakdown was just so raw and EARNED and idk I haven’t cried a lot in the last few months but rewatching that bit over a year later that same powerful emotional reaction came back and it was like. Really cathartic

Last year was a rollercoaster for me and the Hoenn gang (Ash, Brock, Max, May) was with me during a somewhat traumatic period of the year but I don’t think about them as often as I do characters from other regions (namely the Kalos gang who I have a nostalgic connection to). But god I miss them and that period of my watchthrough (but not the period of my life LMAO)

And today I was reading my tweets from the Sun and Moon and Journeys period of the binge, reliving all the touching moments and it’s really weird because I dont think I’ve really processed much of the latter part of last year bc it was another weird time for me (turning 18, getting my first job, starting my first year of college) and

I’ve scrolled through that thread so many times since I finished that endeavor. But it just doesn’t compare to actually going back to the episodes themselves and seeing the little details my brain forgot or my thread didn’t mention. In fact, I think because I made the thread my brain chose to forget about everything that ISNT in the thread because it takes up less space in my head that way, but now that I’m committing so much brainpower to it again and actually rewatching some of those episodes is finally actually taking me back to last year and helping me process some of the stuff that happened? Or I could be bullshitting but idk

I said once my binge of the anime was over I was going to do so many creative things in relation to it but I think by the time I was finished my brain had had enough and so I kinda moved on quicker than I thought I would, or even wanted to. But now I’m finally revisiting those creative ideas I’m being reminded of just how much that stupid adventure meant to me and especially the characters yknow

The May example is just one of them. There are plenty of episodes I could go back to and the same thing would happen but I’m not ready for all that. I was just curious enough about the May clip because I didn’t remember it and because May basically didn’t show up at all after Sinnoh aside from a few second long cameo in Journeys but Fuck. It was even more heart wrenching than I remembered. Genuinely one of the realest moments in the show. I miss May, I miss the Hoenn gang. I miss all of the characters. I miss the escapism and the emotions

Anyway that’s enough rambling. I needed to talk about this somewhere and I think it would too out of place in the very first video I’ve ever done where I’m actually talking.

I know I said I livetweeted the entire thing but it was on my priv twitter and it was probably extremely annoying for the people who did follow me over there so like even though I was constantly talking about it, I didn’t really get to talk To anyone about it and I think that’s another part of why so much if it has gone unprocessed so if anyone is interested in hearing more of my thoughts on that experience I’m eager to share. And I suppose I’ll let you guys know when the video goes up if you’re interested. I’m planning to post it September 8th (2024), the anniversary of the English dub ending so keep an eye out if you’re interested

Seriously, I discovered this man in 2021. I vividly remember listening to Death with Dignity, at night, laying in my bed, in the dark, with just my earphones in. I was 13, and i was then listening to music on Youtube. The algorithm randomly added that song in my mix, and it was the slowed and reverb version of it LOLL

I’ve never thought i’d listen to this kind of music (i used to listen to only agressive pop and all that kind of stuff), but this album opener blew my mind. I fell in love with the song within the first few guitalin? (i think) arpeggios. I thought « how is it possible to make something this beautiful ?? and i’m not even 10secs in. »

I didn’t really understood the lyrics at first, as English isn’t my native language, but his voice really activated some part of my brain. It tickled it and i fell in love with Sufjan’s voice : i have never heard a voice like this before !! so breathy, beautiful and « lived in ». I mean. He has lived a lot of things lol

the piano part in the song made me almost cry.

and don’t even get me started on the last part of the song. The vocals. The instruments. so much emotion conveyed without any lyrics. The little chord progression (i hope that you know which one i’m referring to) that made the whole thing feel so mesmerizing. The last few notes of the sliding guitar? i think… idk what instrument that is. I cannot explain with words how i was feeling. and all of that in slowed and reverb LOLLL it made me so emotional. I wasn’t even able to process the whole thing. Too much happening for me. and the song ended. it was a whole experience.

And then i listenend to carrie and lowell. No shade in the shadow of the cross always gets me. John my beloved too. my three favorite songs ever. Maybe i’ll write a whole new post for them.

Again, these are my opinions and interpretations, and I don’t want to start anything.

S3E6, Ch. 22, “Guns for Hire.”

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. 

Plot: 8/10. 

I’ve talked a lot of smack about this episode in the past but it’s actually really good… 

Din and Bo-Katan are so confused as to what’s happening 😭. 

Grogu is living the DREAM here… 

I love love love that there’s a droid bar. It’s something that you wouldn’t expect to exist but it does! The entire room going quiet when the duo walk in is my fav, cuz like, “why are there humans here??” 

Intro/Hooker: 8/10.

QUARREN AND MON CALAMARI!!! If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for the aquatic species of Star Wars. 

Outro/Cliffhanger: 0/10.

I’m just pissy over the fact Bo-Katan has the Darksaber now. 

Script & Acting: 9/10. 

“Take a little sip-sip! 😁” you go girl (the girl is Jack Black). 

“You had me at battle droids” YEAHH!! GO KICK SOME METAL ASS!! 

“Any of them look suspicous?” “They all look suspicious.” I have a lot to say about this but it deserves itss own post… 

Jack Black and Lizzo are horribly perfect for their roles. 

Calling Din a “misguided zealot” MIGHT be the realest thing ever because he does NAWT know what’s going on half the time… 

Characters/Creatures: 10/10. 

Ugnaughts. So you want me to cry. 

Droid representation goes crazy. 

VFX/SFX: 10/10. 

PLAZIR-15 IS SO PRETTY… 

Din in the security room’s lighting >>> His armor never fails to make him the prettiest thing in the room (cringe, I know).

What Could Be Better: 

Din having a stupid good reason as to why to give up the Darksaber was perfectly written and I hate it… Stop being a side-character!!

thinking about the post or set of tags that said supernatural doesn’t consider women as people bc so true. when they decided to add a character that inserted the female fanbase into the narrative they made becky when instead they could’ve based her on the uber driver who picked me up at one a.m. in atlanta that one time my flight was delayed and I had to get a hotel. she wore driving gloves, asked me if I minded if she ran a red light, and spent the whole ride talking about how fine jensen ackles is and what she would do to him because the supernatural convention was in town. realest one I’ve ever met 10/10 experience

Sorry but nothing will ever be funnier than the creator of a show posting a screenshot from a pirating website that was specifically made for that show. Dana Terrace gives no fucks and is the realest creator I’ve ever seen.
