I like how we were talking about coincidences and one *just* occurred!
Someone where I live actually recently got hit by a train. I don't know any of the details but I do know: the train was immediately stopped, and it doesn't take THAT long to clean up, since the train was leaving the same day that the accident occurred.
Now, away from the solid facts I know about the incident and onto my own theories about what would happen: I feel like it would just crush a lot of bones and then as the train slowed down, you would eventually loose the air pressure holding you against the train, and would fall. Some limbs would be crushed or torn off, but you probably wouldn't be shredded to bits.
Also, open caskets are ONLY offered if the body is in good enough condition. You can request it, but the request is only accepted if they are able to make the body presentable. So, thankfully, no Frankenstein monsters during burials :3
As for my shower thoughts.... I watch a lot of book/show/movie breakdowns where they go in depth about the symbolism of certain scenes. About how EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. ment something in certain media. How much of that is actually decided by the creator, and how much of it is people looking WAY to hard into things?? I remember having to write a THREE PAGE ESSAY on the symbolism and literary tools used in ONE paragraph of a book once and... I just could not for the life of me belive the author intended for this one paragraph to have three pages worth of meaning in it. I don't think I could ever write a paragraph with three pages worth of meaning in it (at least... on purpose).
What's your favorite genre? Mine is fantasy or thriller (not the blood and guts kind but the constant suspence kind. To much blood and guts can actually turn me away at times)
Also, sorry this is so long, and goodnight, I'm heading to bed!!!
- J
ah, wow. what a coinkydink. also, thank you for the fun facts! i will treasure this information.
my teacher has us do this ReadTheory thing where we read passages and then complete a quiz about the passage, and some of the questions are so analytical and they even start using wording and phrases that the teacher couldnt understand at times. i get where you are coming from when you say people look too hard into things. ive seen theories about Aus that i follow that are literal ESSAYS. it makes my jaw drop every time. sometimes in a good way tho :D
as for my favorite book genre, id have to say fantasy fiction. mainly animal based for some reason. like Familiars or Wings of Fire. i dunno, i find them interesting. (although, the turning away from blood and gore thing is one thing in which we differ. there are some authors who can go into such gruesome and amazing detail when it comes to stuff like that, and i love reading it. maybe im just a psycho lol)
I wont give you a question since you are going to bed :) sleep well and have a good day tomorrow! i have school and the theater practice so i likely wont be on a lot this week. maybe at night or early morning tho!
arrivederci my friend!
#you ask#i answer#goodnight J!#this has been quite enjoyable#i shall see you again sometime in the near future i hope#:)

Conquer the IELTS: Expert Online Strategies for Each Section’s Advanced Preparation
Preparing for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) can be a challenging journey, especially when aiming for a high score. With the growing availability of online resources, advanced preparation has never been more accessible. This guide will help you navigate the IELTS by providing advanced preparation strategies tailored to each section of the test.
Understanding the IELTS Structure
Before diving into preparation, it’s crucial to understand that the IELTS consists of four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Each section assesses different skills and requires tailored strategies. Let’s explore how to prepare effectively for each component using online resources.
1. Listening
Advanced Preparation Strategies:
Use Authentic Practice Tests: Websites like the official IELTS website and IELTS Liz offer practice tests that mirror the actual exam. Regularly take these tests to familiarize yourself with the format and question types.
Engage with Varied Accents: The Listening section features a variety of English accents. Use resources like BBC Podcasts, TED Talks, and YouTube channels to expose yourself to different pronunciations and speaking styles.
Take Notes: During practice, simulate exam conditions by taking notes as you listen. Focus on key ideas, specific details, and transitions. This will enhance your ability to recall information during the test.
Recommended Online Resources:
IELTS.org: Official practice materials and sample tests.
BBC Learning English: Engaging audio content covering various topics.
YouTube Channels: Channels like IELTS Liz and IELTS Advantage provide tips and practice materials.
2. Reading
Advanced Preparation Strategies:
Practice Skimming and Scanning: Develop these skills by reading articles from sources like The Guardian or National Geographic. Focus on identifying main ideas quickly and locating specific information.
Work on Timing: The Reading section is time-sensitive, so practice completing passages within the allocated time. Use online practice tests to hone your pacing.
Analyze Answer Choices: Understand why answers are correct or incorrect by reviewing explanations. This will enhance your critical thinking and comprehension skills.
Recommended Online Resources:
IELTS Buddy: Offers practice tests with detailed answer explanations.
ReadTheory: An adaptive reading platform that helps improve comprehension skills.
Newsela: Provides leveled articles for practice in reading comprehension.
3. Writing
Advanced Preparation Strategies:
Understand Task Types: Familiarize yourself with the two tasks in the Writing section—Task 1 (descriptive writing) and Task 2 (essay writing). Review sample tasks to understand expectations.
Practice Writing Essays: Use prompts from previous IELTS exams and set a timer to simulate real test conditions. Focus on structure, coherence, and clarity in your writing.
Seek Feedback: Use online platforms like Grammarly or writing forums to receive feedback on your essays. This can help you identify grammatical errors and improve your writing style.
Recommended Online Resources:
IELTS Simon: Offers sample essays and writing tips.
Purdue OWL: A valuable resource for understanding essay structure and style.
Writing.com: A platform for sharing your writing and receiving feedback from peers.
4. Speaking
Advanced Preparation Strategies:
Practice with Online Partners: Use language exchange platforms like Tandem or HelloTalk to practice speaking with native speakers or other learners.
Record Your Responses: Record yourself responding to common IELTS Speaking prompts. Listening to your recordings can help identify areas for improvement in pronunciation and fluency.
Familiarize Yourself with Common Topics: Prepare for common IELTS topics such as education, travel, and technology. Create structured responses to these questions to boost your confidence during the exam.
Recommended Online Resources:
IELTS Speaking Success: Provides tips, sample questions, and answers.
BBC Learning English – Speaking: Offers videos and exercises to enhance speaking skills.
iTalki: Connect with tutors or language partners for personalized speaking practice.
Conclusion
Navigating the IELTS requires a comprehensive approach, especially if you aim for a high score. By utilizing online resources tailored to each section of the test, you can develop advanced preparation strategies that enhance your skills and boost your confidence. With dedication and the right tools, you’ll be well-equipped to tackle the IELTS and achieve your desired results.

CONCLUSION AND KEY LEARNINGS
How will the knowledge gained from this module influence your teaching methods?
Traditional teaching has become boring for teachers and students, with the latter losing interest in learning something new every day. After learning how to use artificial intelligence to enhance students´ English skills, I have understood how important is to include AI in our teaching process.
Along this module, we have learned about some tools that we can include in our teaching and this is how I plan to use them:
If I want my students improve their reading fluency and comprehension, I could use ReadAlong since this tool will help me create interactive reading sessions where students can follow along with the text while listening to the correct pronunciation. Also, I will use ReadTheory to provide personalized reading comprehension exercises since this tool adapts itself to each student’s reading level; this way, students are always challenged but not overwhelmed. Moreover, I could track my students’ reading fluency over time by using Reading Progress. This tool will allow me to identify areas where they need improvement and provide targeted support.
Whenever I want to include games in practice, I could provide students with Elsa Speak which is a game-changer for pronunciation practice. Students will get instant feedback on their pronunciation; besides, they will improve their speaking skills in a fun and engaging way.
I will use Suno to create audio content for listening exercises. This tool will help me provide diverse listening materials, which are crucial for developing students’ listening skills. If I want to make learning fun and to encourage creativity in my students, AI Comic Factory is the correct tool because it allows me to create engaging comics that can be used for storytelling exercises. Finally, with HeyGen, I can create personalized video messages for my students. This will be useful for giving feedback or explaining complex concepts in a more engaging way.
I am sure that I can create a more dynamic, personalized, and effective learning environment for my students by incorporating these AI tools into my teaching methods.
Can you think of a specific lesson or activity where you could apply what you’ve learned?
I consider that it is important to make students feel engaged and comfortable with classes, and if I had to create a lesson applying everything I have learned, I will do it this way:
I will start the lesson with a short warm-up by having students use the ReadAlong app to read a short story. They will listen to the narration and follow along with the text, which will help them with pronunciation and fluency. After that, I will create a reading comprehension activity using ReadTheory. Students will log into ReadTheory and complete a reading comprehension exercise. This activity will be adapted to their individual reading levels, ensuring that each student is appropriately challenged.
Reading Fluency Assessment: For this activity, I will use the Reading Progress tool to assess students’ reading fluency. Each student will read a passage aloud while the tool tracks their progress and identifies areas for improvement. Then, we are going to pass to pronunciation practice using Elsa Speak. Students will use this app to practice their pronunciation. The app will provide instant feedback, helping them to correct any mistakes and improve their speaking skills.
I will play an audio clip created with Suno. Students will listen to the clip and then will create a short comic using AI Comic Factory. This activity will improve their listening comprehension, encourage creativity and help them practice their writing skills in a fun way.
Finally, I will use HeyGen to create a personalized video message for each student, providing feedback on their performance and highlighting areas for improvement.

Did Communism Fail?
There is a falsely held belief that communism and socialism has failed. What such detractors fail to acknowledge is that having a handful of extremely rich and extraordinarily powerful own the equivalent of 3.5 billion people who live without meeting basic human needs.
That half the world experiences artificial food and water shortages when modern technology enables us to provide for everyone…

Saturday site share April 1, 2017
https://readtheory.org/
This is NOT an April Fool’s joke!
This site reminds me of FreeRice.com, a site I’ve used for years and recommended as a fun way to practice your vocabulary knowledge and explore new vocabulary in a fun way (words are selected/leveled based on your responses or can be self-selected).
ReadTheory.org is a fun way to practice your reading comprehension in a similar manner. When you visit the site, a random reading selection appears:
[Are you sure of your answer?]
When you click on any answer (if you haven’t logged in), this pop-up appears:
I have registered as a teacher on their site. If you’d like to sign up/log in under my ‘class’ on ReadTheory, contact me for a sign up invitation with class name (LEWWWP) and l can send you the class code, or let me know your ReadingTheory username, and I can invite you.
Thank you goes to Jennifer Lebedev (JenniferESL) for her post sharing this link.

100 Days Study Plan for GRE Exam
It is more effective to split your days in minutes and whole plan in days rather than months. It will give you more mental strength if you divide your days in minutes because a day contains 1440 minutes but the number of hours is 24. It’s a psychological point that more numbers help our brain to make the plan proper, convenient and achievable one. Another thing to ace the GRE is regularity; probably it is the key point to success in GRE. All of us start GRE with a great enthusiasm and vigor but over the time it becomes abated due to proper plan, True Guide and obviously lack of regularity. Another big enemy is Procrastination, we make plan but never finish it properly. The unfinished tasks create pressure; mental pressure creates frustration and frustration kills our dream & enthusiasm. Try to follow 80/20 rules to avoid procrastination, that means try to finish most important and tough one first: at the opening of the day. It will give you mental serenity.
And try to find a True Guide who is a mentor, motivator, planner, austere to plan and home work and obviously the best wisher of your journey and struggle. Without a mentor your journey will be like a ship without a captain. So find him or her wisely.
MATERIALS:

22. Power prep 1 & 2, Power prep plus (1, 2 & 3), Manhattan paid Mocks (1,2,3,4,5 and 6)
Time management:
Daily you need to study 7-8 hours and 700-800 hours in total for GRE preparation (it’s only my suggestion, it may vary from person to person)
Verbal: 180-240 minutes (in two intervals): Word 60 minutes, Reading habit 60-90 minutes, problem solving 60 minutes
Quant: 180-240 minutes (in two intervals): Basic build up & Strategies 60-90 minutes, practice 60-90 minutes, Error log analysis 30 minutes.
AWA: 30-60 minutes (after basic build up practice 1 Issue task or 1 Argument task).
Study Plan:
First 1-10 days plan
1. Deactivate all your social media account for God sake for these 100 days. Nothing will happen if you are not present in social media. Stop thinking yourself special.
2. If you want to make a noticeable difference, you need to hibernate yourself for these 100 days. So hibernate yourself from all distractions (if possible from your BF or GF
)
3. Go to ets.org/gre website. Peruse all things like topics, question pattern, exam pattern etc. Make yourself very familiar with the website and topic as well.
4. Watch my 3 videos named (A) Introduction to GRE Quantitative Reasoning (B) Introduction to GRE Verbal (C) All about GRE Scoring on my Stalin’s GRE YouTube Channel.
5. Make familiar with ETS books and peruse the Qs.
6. Familiar yourself with Algebra from Manhanttan 1-6, Magoosh video lessons.
7. You can use khan academy for basics.
8. Practice Algebra from Official Quant guide.
9. Practice Algebra from Manhattan 5lb
10. Read First 100 vocabulary from Magoosh 1000
11. Last day, revise all things properly.
Days 11-20
1. Practice typing in keybr.com. Try to make it 40 WPM (word per minute) because in GRE exam you have to face Analytical writing section at the very beginning, where you need to write at least 400-600 words for each section. That means you have to write 800-1200 words in 1 hour for better score. That is why typing speed is very crucial for AWA.
2. Familiar yourself with Arithmetic and do practice from ETS quant guide.
3. Familiar yourself with Arithmetic from Manhanttan 1-6 & Magoosh video lessons.
4. Practice Arithmetic from Official Quant guide.
5. Practice Arithmetic from Manhattan 5lb
6. Read 101-200 vocabulary from Magoosh Basic words
7. Read “The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho”, then make a review of it and note unknown words.
8. Make familiar with Verbal reasoning topics from ETS Verbal reasoning guide book.
Days 21-30
1. Doing well in Reading comprehension section you need to build your reading skill with time. Go to readtheory and try to go up to 12 level.
2. Start reading “Elements of Style by Willium Stunk jr.” for grammar. You know, without strong command in Grammar section you never do well in verbal section as well as in AWA section. One thing, this book is the best book as per my recommendation for verbal and AWA.
3. Start reading “Word power made easy by Norman Lewis” for contextual vocabulary. This is the most powerful book for vocabulary.
4. Familiar yourself with Triangle and Quadrilateral from Manhattan 1-6 and magoosh lessons. You can follow khan academy for basics also.
5. Practice Triangle and Quadrilateral problem from ETS quant guide and 5lb. You can also practice Geometry from NOVA GRE math bible. This book is particularly good for geometry section.
6. Read 201-300 vocabulary from magoosh basic.
7. Practice first 10 TC and SE from Official Verbal guide.
8. Read “The kite runner by Khaled Hosseini” and make a review & note unknown words.
9. Read two article from scientific American and History today and follow my format of reading article. You can find it from my Stalin’s GRE group post.
You can make it complete by yourself or to reveal the full plan (Days 01 to 100) you can join with me. Thank you.

Session 4 Week 3 - Birthday Madness!
This week was filled with celebrations! Three Eagles had their birthdays within the span of 7 days. They celebrated with stories, interesting facts, laughter, and lots of good memories!
Highlights this week:
Birthday Madness
Revisiting the Honor Code
Core Skill Changes
Realization of deadlines
Orienteering: Drawing Taman Zaaba
Moving back to PE
Travel the World Quests: Going deeper om their travel plans
ES and MS Interactions
Birthdays madness
Last week, Eagles celebrated Brien’s 13th birthday. This week, they celebrated Katelynn’s and Hadiya’s birthday. In addition to stories and facts of them growing up, the birthday Eagle brought food. As you would expect from Malaysia, there were plenty of food!
Usually, parents share stories as Eagle move through the sun candle. But this time, it’s by my dear brother.
Ice cream mix Birthday cake
Revisiting the Honor Code
Any visitor will find that Eagles express themselves naturally at Acton. The very reason for that is that we take community trust very seriously.
The standards are upheld by the Honor Code. Basically, Eagles have to apologize in writing or give a speech to the community. Few violations will result in strikes and eventually rejection from the community.
Lately, some Eagles have made inappropriate comments and cheated in their work. It was time to revisit the Honor Code contract and discussed various forms of cheating and bullying.
Giving a 360 rating with no comments, especially a low one. Do you consider that bullying? Eagles discovered deeper ethics through discussions around the Honor Code.
A community that sets a high standard in trust and honor is the foundation for everything else, especially learning and self-governance.
Core Skill Measure Changes
Previously, Eagles measured their Core Skill efforts through the amount of time spent. This week, we moved towards a result-based effort. While it is still early days, some Eagles thrived by earning badges in ReadTheory, a comprehension learning tool. They gave each other advice: “Focus, patience, and study through the mistakes carefully…"
Our aim is to develop learning habits based on finding a state of flow and deliberate practice. Such habits take time. But Eagles are finding a more focused rhythm as they mature week by week.
Some Eagles also changed their work environments. E.g. working in the library.
Realization of Deadlines
Last week, Eagles were first introduced to Civilization (the history/ geography component at Acton). They needed to complete ticket questions to watch a documentary about explorers. There were stressful times, even tears, as many Eagles started their work in the last hour to the deadline.
But this week, many of the Eagles realized a better plan was to look ahead to the deadline requirements. They planned ahead, delivered an hour before the deadline, and then concentrated back to other Core Skill goals. The result—higher quality work, less stressful and a happier Civilization sessions (with Marco Polo and Ibn Battuta)!
Their time management skills extended further. Some Eagles even managed to do extra work, and complete deadlines despite taking time out of school.
Many more Eagles getting their work done, on time!
Orienteering: Drawing Taman Zaaba
In Civilization, Eagles were exposed to various old maps. On Tuesday, Eagles were challenged to draw the map of Taman Zaaba, our neighborhood park. First, they did it by hand. This involved walking one round around the park to have a feel of the shape.
Is it a square, an oval, or some other shape?
Next, they did it with detailed estimation using compass and counting footsteps. Converting estimation proved to be really hard. Many Eagles found the second challenge overwhelming. At least, Eagles had a taste of the early explorers’ work of mapping entire continents using similar methods.
Moving back to PE
Some Eagles asked: "Why are we doing orienteering during PE time?” They discussed further and made their voice heard. Feedbacks are taken seriously in the learner-driven community. On Thursday, PE involved physical challenges and touch rugby.
Come on, you can do it!
Touch rugby
Travel the World Quest: Going Deeper in their Travel Plans
Eagles spend their mornings in PE & Core Skills. In the afternoons, project work takes place. They continue building their itinerary by making decisions on accommodation, transport, food, insurance, souvenirs, etc.
The challenges are real. Some Eagles had to juggle with constraints by their fellow travelers, requests, budget, and so on. They learned that sometimes, it is impossible to satisfy everyone’s needs.
Some wants seafood, others vegetarian… how can I make a decision?
In two weeks time, Eagles will be presenting their travel plans, in the form of a travel brochure and a detailed plan. In addition to presenting to their fellow travelers, the exhibition is open to the public. We upped the challenge by offering “consulting tickets” during exhibitions. If a visitor finds an Eagle’s plan interesting, they can book a time slot to consult further, for cash.
Imagine young travel agents for hire :-)
ES and MS Interactions
We noticed a lot more interactions between the Elementary and Middle School studios. With Elementary School’s entomology quest, they attracted a certain following from the Middle Schoolers on their insect lab. This week, their pupae had blossomed into butterflies.
“Look, it’s transforming!”
On Friday, some of them joined the younger Eagles to learn more through Dr. Heo, a forensic entomologist.
Besides exposing to entomology, the MS Eagles and ES Eagles interacted formally through PE, safety briefings, and guiding the younger Eagles in setting SMART goals and informally, through games. The current Elementary School trend—capturing a Middle Schooler with robot made up of blocks :P
Setting SMART goals on the Big Board
“Big car crossing… having fun simulating a busy road"
"Save me!” Elementary School game.
How will this young community evolve as these two studios grow closer together? Stay tune ahead!
