I think Shen Qiao read the same book 'How to be a good Shizun' as Shen Qingqiu and Chu Wanning because the first rule seems to be: pat your disciple's head as often as posible to show him he's a good boy.

since i finished qian qiu vol 3 a week ago i think a lot about the moral dynamics between yan wushi and shen qiao a lot even while i was reading vol 2/vol 3. i know that is one of the main themes about qq but it's just so!!! it's my fave thing.

like shen qiao and yan wushi are obviously their polar opposites in everything that they do, but my absolute favorite thing about the novel is no matter what happens to them (shen qiao being betrayed multiple times, shen qiao saving yan wushi) their personalities are still the same. especially for shen qiao, he experienced many hardships and betrayals, he's seen how awful people can get and he knows how bad the world can get, but he continues to be the kind hearted person he is because to me there is probably no one else as kind as him. as yan wushi has said, there is only one shen qiao.

(also my personal fave character tropes is when a character is secluded in his own world by choice, but is forced to experience the world because of outside means, and by doing this they understand more of how the world works and what people are going through, and they start changing their thoughts as they get more exposure)

as for yan wushi, in vol 3 when he gets his split personalities, it is interesting how different a-yan and xie ling are but i do like some of the text saying despite how gentle and trusting xie ling is to shen qiao, deep down yan wushi still believes there's evil in everything and only trusts himself. but i do love the subtle changes in feelings yan wushi has towards shen qiao (which is funny to read in text bc it's whenever he thinks about how kind sq is towards xie ling and yws doesn't get those actions)

·MLA文内引用和Harvard文献格式以及APA文献格式都有很大的不同，MLA格式使用的是“作者姓+页码”的组合，举例来说：

Wordsworth stated that Romantic poetry was marked by a “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings” (263).

或者

Romantic poetry is characterized by the “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings” (Wordsworth 263).

·如果引用的材料存在多个作者（人数超出三人）的情况，MLA格式需要使用“et al.”的缩略写法：

1）引用作者人数未超过三人：The authors claim that surface reading looks at what is “evident, perceptible, apprehensible in texts” (Best and Marcus 9).

或者

Best and Marcus argue that one should read a text for what it says on its surface, rather than looking for some hidden meaning (9).

2）引用作者人数超过三人：According to Franck et al, “Current agricultural policies in the U.S. are contributing to the poor health of Americans”(327).

或者

The authors claim that one cause of obesity in the United States is government-funded farm subsidies (Franck et al. 327).

1）同一作者的两篇文章：

Lightenor has argued that computers are not useful tools for small children (“Too Soon” 38), though he has acknowledged elsewhere that early exposure to computer games does lead to better small motor skill development in a child’s second and third year (“Hand-Eye Development” 17).

2）同一作者的两本书：

Murray states that writing is “a process” that “varies with our thinking style” (Write to Learn 6). Additionally, Murray argues that the purpose of writing is to “carry ideas and information from the mind of one person into the mind of another” (A Writer Teaches Writing 3).

Global Social Media: Case Study China

I will always be fascinated by the way social media has been regulated in China. I work with a company that has a very high amount of Chinese customers, therefore, I do hear a lot about their social media. WeChat is one of the major ones I hear a lot about, as well as qq. In China, rather than eliminating social media, there have been strict rules or restrictions put in place to make sure that the Chinese population don’t have access to unwanted information or to avoid their opinions being swayed (Crampton2011).

There are many reasons the Chinese have such a high involvement in social media, 2 of which include the rural-to-urban migration that has torn families apart as well as the one child rule in China and how this can cause people/ children to be isolated (Crampton2011). It’s quite sad to think that people are resulting to social media to get a human connection these days and also that the Chinese have been cut off from a lot of the rest of the worlds social media so they can’t completely immerse themselves online.

In China, they have replaced YouTube with something called Youku and also Tudou. These are quite different in that YouTube is very much a place where people can upload whatever they please, maybe a funny dog video or a fail video, however, Youku or Tudou have a lot more of a professional setting (Crampton2011). They have longer videos that are definitely more mature and are almost like an online TV station rather than somewhere to browse random videos (Crampton2011). Now, Youku and Tudou have actually been quite successful in assisting companies that focus on producing video content (Crampton2011).

It’s interesting that there are so many issues on the web these days even in Australia and around the rest of the world, and China has gone ahead and implemented this Golden Shield project which seems to have been quite successful and from what I’ve read hasn’t even caused any uproar in the community. Maybe I don’t necessarily think that it’s reasonable to expect everyone to agree with a surveillance technique like this, but I do think that China has really made a statement with this regulation. Although we do have freedom of speech here, maybe Australia could take on some of these ideas to combat things like bullying that happen on a daily basis and can unfortunately be quite overlooked.
