Lost Fic #194

1. Turning to my fellow forum members because I can't find the fic and fear it might have been deleted: The fic starts with Crowley and Aziraphale at the Ritz talking about the Fall and Aziraphale is terrified of the idea of Falling. They have an argument and Crowley says something like I wish you had fallen then you wouldn't be so scared all the time and then Aziraphale leaves. The next morning Crowley goes to the bookshop to apologize and finds Aziraphale has Fallen, but also hasn't? There is now a Fallen Aziraphale with sheep horns and also a non fallen Aziraphale. The latter is seated at his desk and hasn't acknowledged his demon counterpart or realized they are there. Crowley wanting to figure out how this happens decides to take Fallen Aziraphale to his flat, but discovers that if they are away from Angel Aziraphale Fallen Aziraphale passes out. The fic centers on Crowley dealing with 2 Aziraphales and trying to explore a relationship with both. Later we learn that Aziraphale forced himself to forget he made the Fallen Aziraphale to explore what a relationship with Crowley could be like without the risk of Falling. There is a scene where Crowley buys fallen Aziraphale a floral hairband thing for around their horns. And he panics when Fallen Aziraphale suddenly vanishes when angel Aziraphale finally acknowledges he created them and is controlling both bodies in a 1 soul 2 bodies kind of deal. - @05nataku

2. Hey! I have a desperate request for a lost fic. I have the habit of screenshotting/copy and pasting bits and pieces of fics that stuck with me somewhere, but recently I found one without name of the fic or the author. 3. Hello! :-) I'm looking for a 'through the ages' type fic. It was about how Crowley adopted a girl from Pompeii. From what I remember he had a huge house and Aziraphale & Crowley just bickered the entire time. They may have had to fake a relationship, but I'm not 100% sure about that. 4. Hi, hearing that series 3 will be based on the unwritten sequel reminded me of an old fic, but I've been unable to find it. The fic was book!omens / pre-tv series, and was a fan version of the unwritten sequel based on the info publicly available from what NG & TP had said about the plot - it involved Crowley & Aziraphale travelling America, Jesus, national parks, Aziraphale making notes while watching free 15 mins of porn on the TV (and annoying Crowley with how much time this was taking up). I am not sure if the fic was on a03, I have vague memories of reading it not on a white screen, so think it was maybe hosted on LiveJournal? I think I originally found it via a rec list of classic fics on tumblr sometime shortly after S1 came out, but have been unable to find that list. 5. Hello hello hello! Lovely stuff that you all are doing here! I've sauntered vaguely into this askbox because I'm looking for something- I really don't have high hopes for this to be found- it would take at least half a miracle, I think. But if anyone can find it, it's gonna be you, so i thought I might as well give it a shot. A few months ago, I read a wonderful little fic about Hastur and Ligur that I just CANNOT find anymore- pre fall setting, both were angels. Ligur was building the moon (or helping) and Hastur was some kind of watcher angel who was supposed to observe everything? I'm afraid I'm a bit blurry on the details, but I think Hastur was being made fun of by the other angels, and he hid in some kind of cave, feeling terribly overwhelmed and anxious- where Ligur later found him. The story then went on a little to describe the relationship they ended up forming through that. I'm terribly sorry that this is not a lot of info to go off of- I've looked through hundereds of fics and everything on the maggot husbands tag- but nothing was ringing any bells. Might have overlooked it, I'm not sure. It could just be gone. If there is any way anyone could help me find this again, I would be eternally grateful. But either way- thank you for taking the time to read this- and thank you for all the lovely work you do! - anon

Hello anon! :-D so sorry for the late reply, this ask got burried in my (very messy) drafts. The answer to your question though, I unfortunately don't. But!

The original dowload page has been saved via wayback. At the bottom of the page it reads "You cannot download files in this forum" so I guess one might had to have been logged in to download files. Anyhow, since it seems to have been a simple edit of the VideoCapture.ini file, I recreated Delusion's mod for you :-) here is the original description and how to install (or make the edits yourself) the mod:

This mod is a simple mod, most of you will know that the highest video capture size is 640x480, i have made alteration​s to the configuati​ons to enable you to record in 1280x1024, As you will find out the video quality when recoding in 1280x1024 is amazing no blury edges no grainy effect and no lines, its like Sims2 Movies in High Definition​ , these were the original settings. SmallSetti​ngs        = size: 128x128 MediumSett​ings        = size: 320x240 LargeSetti​ngs        = size: 640x480 And i have changed them to this removing the small quality 128x128. SmallSetti​ngs        = size: 320x240 MediumSett​ings        = size: 640x480 LargeSetti​ngs        = size: 1280x1024 The filesize of the movies you record will double as you are recording bigger, and also depending on your computer specs whilst recoding it may slow down slighty. Other than that this is great for movies, no other real use, i have attached a file with a movie in it unedited, and as you will see the quality and size is so much better. Please backup your videocaptu​re file. Note i have also included the original file settings, for if you wish to change it back. To install this mod you need copy the file VideoCaptu​re file and paste and overwrite the original*, here is the directory, Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\R​es\UserDat​a\Config You also need to paste the file into your latest expansion pack. For example if your latest EP is OFB the directory is, Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business\T​SData\Res\​UserData\C​onfig This does not effect gameplay at all, and is only usefull for if you are recording movies.

*I personally never overwrite files since sometimes it doesn't fully work. I suggest you move the original file somewhere as a backup, and then paste/drag my file. I haven't tested this edit but it should work. I included the basegame and M&G files incase you accidentally delete or overwrite them. I can't remember if the file I edited was the basegame one or M&G, but I think the files are all the same between different ep/sp.

Twelve years of playing My Candy Love and now MCL New Gen - GIVEAWAY NG

Hello dear reader!

I start the text by apologizing for possible grammatical errors, I'm Brazilian, and I don't know how to write English, so I'm using an assistant translator.

Like a large number of My Candy Love New Gen players, I would also like to participate in the contest and then, who knows, win the much-loved Egirl pack — which has become the object of my desires in recent days.

After all, why have I been looking forward to him so much? Actually, the answer is quite simple: I'm a natural collector, in love with My Candy Love. Not having it in my collection, and not being able to use it in fashion competitions (a minigame that proved to be quite fun within the game), causes me deep anguish. Currently, I have finished purchasing all the available packs, but it is still missing.

I take great care of my My Candy Love accounts, both the classic and New Gen. For me it's not something disposable, but rather a bridge of nostalgia that takes me back to easier times, to when I was 11 years old and I discovered the game through a computer in the library, with my friends at school. We identified with the corridors of Sweet Amoris, with the characters, with the flirts, we had fun with the dialogues, and today, at 24 years old, I continue with this same appreciation, now in New Gen, getting to know such an engaging and captivating game again, like when it was the first time.

In this new stage, I feel happy to see how much the game has matured, together with the company and us players. For those who still don't know the feeling of living a love story, My Candy Love New Gen is there to make us sigh and squeal with joy during the dialogues. The game mechanics have become very engaging, making you want to log in several times a day to redeem exploration prizes, or even participate in fun conversations with other players on the forum. But without a doubt, the big highlight goes to the fashion contest minigame, which brought together (and also disunited lol) some players. We had a lot of fun creating and evaluating the participating newcettes, challenging the limits of creativity and interacting with friends.

If I were to express everything that the game means to me in a broader sense, I would spend tireless hours writing. But I hope that my small contribution makes my dream of getting this pack for my beloved collection possible.

BL Commercialization

I am not the biggest fan of commercialization of BL.

BL spread across the globe not through commercial channels but through labor of love. It grew on the backs of creators and audience who spend their efforts and affection for the genre, fought and accompanied each other. There is a sort of sisterhood, a sort of fraternity that can’t be assigned a monetary value. It was popularized by readers and audience who loved it and wanted to share that love. It was shared with a sense of competition, indoctrination and infighting. It grew out of love, desire, lust, rage, jealousy and appreciation.

BL mangas and novels from Japan reached across the globe through piracy and fan-translations.

Where BL reached, new BL formed.

Forum engagements. Check out the BL I wrote. Here’s a BL I liked. Look at this crap an author wrote. That b!tch plagiarized. She wrote it first. So many people wrote the same thing, it is a cliché now. You can’t write like that. Who are you to say that? That main character is so flat-chested. If you want to write female protagonist, go to straight romance section. Wife! Please complete this story, I’m dy!ng to read. Where are the H scenes?

It involved fans drawing fan art. Thriving under attention. Wilting under bullying.

It involved male BL lovers – queer or otherwise – voicing BL audio drama adaptations and fan-dubs for free. BL lovers asking them to moan sweetly, to pant harshly and to act cute.

It involved creators like Chai Jidan who produced a super low-budget adaptation of her novel Addicted and send the State scrambling when BL became the talk of the town.

Now companies can swoop in and reap the dividends of years of unpaid, hard, emotional work done by innumerable rotten people, acquire intellectual property born out of the universe of BL and pay no respect to what came before them.

Moreover, now international audience can fly down and rubbish BL traditions, deem them anti-queer and anti-feminist. And influence how BL is produced. Wipe out the spaces local BL fans created for themselves. Without ever wondering what purpose did the so called ‘anti-queer and anti-feminist’ tropes and themes serves. Why were they made? (Other than the premature assessment that Asian BL audience and creators are heterosexists and misogynists and need rescuing and education from international, mainly western audience.) How do they interact and intersect with local non-BL queer content? All the while enjoying the soft boy aesthetics and elaborate queer narratives their pro-feminist, pro-queer western nations are not making enough of. And production houses and creators have to bow down to their definition of right queer representation.

So, I am not the biggest fan of commercialization of BL where interactions are skewed neo-colonially.

Greetings! I could say that this is my first entry on this Tumblr, I didn't use it much. But I hope to recharge all my faith on it. I want to thank @tetrakys for making this giveaway.

So, let's get to it...

My Candy Love New Gen: Feeling like the first time again.

I introduce myself, in Beemoov games, I am usually called LiaJay, I have had a long career as a player, 5 seasons in the Sweet Amoris universe, 2 beta tests of the game, I have even been a forum moderator.

I've been playing MCL since I was 19, my first crush was Lysander, and then in the later seasons, I let Nathaniel take my heart. And that's how I finished the first generation💖

When I found out that Beemoov and Chinomiko would release a new game in which I would start from the beginning, I couldn't help but get scared. After 8 years, I was afraid it wouldn't be to my taste. It wasn't until I saw a very particular route: a red-haired boy with aqua eyes. Thomas.

And it was love at first sight ♡

Playing Thomas' route has been quite an adventure, with each episode I feel more and more enthralled with the character. I love his personality, seeming apathetic on the outside, but being really adorable when he manages to open up to Candy. It has been very different from the other routes I played, and that is what I like and excite.

He is a fairly intelligent and bold boy, without mincing words. I love his geeky facts, which he throws out at any time, and his sincerity. I think he is the most transparent character in NG, I really appreciate him a lot haha♡.

Another thing I like about the game is the beautiful clothing items, I won't lie, if I could have all the bank packs in one day, I wouldn't hesitate to get them 😂 the variety of styles is great (I hope they release more things soon, is already needed). My favorite costumes are the Fairycore and the Elven Call (Eldarya vibes, maybe). I like fantasy items, what can I say (?

Finally, the customization of the character (and her adorable pet) fascinates me. Since there are so many categories and traits for the body, I think it is ideal for making the perfect character/OC. An infinite number of models can be created, all based on the user's taste.

The truth is, it has been like going back to that day where I registered for the first time in the game; with the intrigue, the love for a route, the desire to dress Candy... and of course; also the anxiety for a new episode to come out.

And... I think that would be all I had to say.

Good (and slightly humourous) overview of the various *BSD Operating Systems

I was reading some posts on a private OpenBSD forum, and found this post comparing the various BSDs sorta humorous, and fairly helpful. I'll put the text from the post in "chat" (monospace) formatting, and the comments I have in regular text. The original author didn't request credit, so they are anonymous.

OpenBSD

Don't have to relearn stuff every time some widget-ng comes out. e.g. network interfaces are still configured with ifconfig. Including wifi, because they are an interface for networks and what the hell else would you use. Or when the entire package management system was rewritten from scratch, the only user-visible change was that pkg_add added a -u flag. Any patches that don't also update relevant manuals where relevant aren't accepted; crap documentation is considered a software bug. If you pick up a random unix book from the 80s or 90s it'll still be relevant for user management stuff or such tasks. One of only two OS for which package or OS updates haven't at some point hosed my system -- the other is Debian. Introduced half the shiz linux and windows use for exploitation mitigation; absolutely do not care if anything new there breaks a lot of ports it shouldn't, which often leads to a flurry of bug fixes sent upstream to affected ports. Could see live code updates rather than waiting for a tarball since inception back in '95 via AnonCVS, hence the name. https://www.openbsd.org/faq/

This is why I daily drive OpenBSD. It’s not just the technical elegance, but the philosophy of doing things right. Everything about OpenBSD feels deliberate, like every tool and decision serves a purpose. It's almost meditative how clean and straightforward it is. Plus, you can feel that the devs use their own tools. Nothing feels bolted on. Pure KISS ideology. Beautiful.

NetBSD

The only OS for which I've ever gotten to report both kernel and crypto-related bug, due to their taking a simple code base and stuffing it full of preprocessor macros for zero performance change. It will never outlive this shame. https://www.netbsd.org/docs/guide/en/

NetBSD feels like the quiet sibling in the BSD family- an underappreciated powerhouse. It’s OpenBSD’s ancestor, and while I don’t use it much, it’s worth noting the portability and extensive architecture support. I kind of wish it got more love, but it feels stuck in Open’s shadow. That said, props for being the origin point of so much BSD innovation.

FreeBSD

Takes a modicum of extra effort to actually get X and a desktop installed, but will certainly have the best performance, I'd guess since 5.x they've maybe fixed their package management, and is the only real option if you have nvidia graphics and want to play more than Doom 1 with it. Latest compiler spiffiness for faster loading of web pages. Probably still has a Linux ABI compatibility layer for the occasional wonky closed source app. Handbook is the most complete if you don't like manuals because you're not used to Open's. ZFS out of the box. If you have some janky hardware that needs blobs like nvidia graphics or the wifi equivalent of a winmodem, it's probably supported where it wouldn't be in Open. https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/

FreeBSD is the gateway drug of the BSDs, and for good reason. It’s user-friendly enough to attract newcomers, with excellent performance and a robust ecosystem. The Handbook is legendary- probably one of the best documentation efforts out there. If you’re looking for a BSD experience with a wider community, this is the place to start. And GhostBSD? (a FreeBSD-based desktop system)? Even more approachable if you’re coming from Linux or Windows.

DragonflyBSD

If you're very deeply a filesystem geek but don't like ZFS licensing. Has interesting ideas elsewhere but not enough to push it as a daily driver, save that I have not found kernel-level crypto related bugs like ten years ago which instantly makes it objectively better than NetBSD. https://www.dragonflybsd.org/docs/handbook/

DragonflyBSD is the wildcard of the BSDs. It’s the OS equivalent of a hobbyist’s passion project, hyper-focused on specific innovations like the HAMMER filesystem. HAMMER2 is undeniably fascinating if you’re into filesystems and storage efficiency, and it offers a compelling alternative to ZFS without the licensing drama. But for daily use? It’s niche- sometimes feeling like it’s trying to solve problems most users don’t have. That said, I can’t help but admire its ambition. It’s not afraid to be its own thing, even if it’s destined to remain in the shadows of its BSD siblings. If you’re a tinkerer or someone who loves exploring unique OS concepts, Dragonfly is worth a look.

MacOS X/Darwin

The only technically a UNIX(TM), borrowed some of FreeBSD's user land in the very early days and sexually identifies as a BSD. Good luck trying to use it as one.

OS X: a weird hybrid beast. It borrows from FreeBSD, slaps on a consumer-friendly facade, and somehow manages to be a UNIX(TM). It’s the OS equivalent of a midlife crisis sports car. Works great for productivity, but you’ll never confuse it for a real BSD. If you’re reading this, you probably already know you’re not sticking to Apple hardware.

No more googling for how-tos for basic OS tasks. Just go read their own docs.

Using *BSD is as much about self-discovery as it is about using an operating system. These projects have some of the best documentation out there- concise, detailed, and written by the same people who write the code. It’s not just a resource; it’s a gateway to understanding the system deeply. That said, let me offer some perspective on the “RTFM” culture.

The *BSD communities, especially OpenBSD, emphasize learning and self-reliance. They’re not dismissive; they’re encouraging you to explore and grow. Yes, the documentation is the first place to start, but that doesn’t mean you’re on your own. The key is to show initiative. If you’re struggling, share what you’ve tried and where you’re stuck. Most users will appreciate the effort and point you in the right direction.

For OpenBSD in particular, the experience can feel like stepping into 90s hacker culture- no hand-holding, but also no gatekeeping if you’re genuinely trying. The local manpages, the afterboot(8) page in particular, and even the “Welcome to OpenBSD” email sent to your user post-install are wondrous. You’ll need to get comfortable with reading and experimenting.

To me, learning at your own pace, on your own terms, is what makes OpenBSD and the other *BSDs so rewarding. It’s about discovery, discipline, and the joy of solving problems. The culture of “RTFM” isn’t about shutting people out- it’s about giving you the tools to empower yourself.

When you embrace this mindset, you’ll find the journey incredibly satisfying. And the best part? You’ll always have something new to learn, even years later.

The vitiligo skin!!

The first thing that caught my eye was the vitiligo skin option. When I first saw it, I literally gasped and it gave me an idea of giving it to my Candy later in game, since vitiligo also progresses during a persons life. Here's a picture of my girlie in her future skin;

2. Room customization

I don't know about other players, but throughout UL, LL and AL I really missed decorating our Candy's drawer. Even if it was just putting one thing there, I loved it, because, well, I'm obsessed with any kind of customization in games. So, having a WHOLE ROOM to decorate made me so happy!! The feature is also even better thanks to the style contest and that we can set it as our Candy's actual room;

3. The forum ♡

When I first started playing the game, I was about eleven years old. Most players were much older than me, so I always felt like I was too young to talk to them on both Eldarya and MCL forums back then. Well, now that there is a new fresh forum on NG, and I'm an adult, that feeling passed and I can finally freely talk with people there! When I have a lot of free time, I can literally spend all day texting or reading what people post there. It really makes me feel even more like a part of the MCL community and I'm so satisfied with new friends I made there! ♡

4. The personality system

I saw mixed opinions on that feature, but honestly - I really like it. I feel like it actually brings more detail to our character's personality and the little personality triangle that changes while playing the episodes gives me a wider image of Candy. It gives us more to customize than just her looks and I wish I could see other players' charts. Also - the desk changes with our personality!! I was so happy to see the attention to detail and I spent at least a couple of hours analyzing the changes lol

So, I think that's it! There are many more things I love about the game, since I'm obsessed with it, but those are the ones I thought were worth sharing. I hope everyone who had read this far is also as much in love with NG as I am. Have a nice day and good luck to everyone else participating!

All the things I like about My Candy love:New Gen

Greetings to anyone reading this. This is my post for the @tetrakys giveaway

I've been playing MCL for about 5 years, and when I heard there was a new game coming out, I was very surprised. One of the things I like the most, both about MCL and Eldarya, is the forum. Being able to live with other users in this way is something I enjoy, so when I saw that there was also one on NG, I was really very happy ><.

I also really enjoy the events, so I'm looking forward to when they're finally announced in-game. They are fun and you always win very nice clothes, so it is something that excites me. Although at first I was a little undecided which route to follow, in the end I chose Thomas as my main route. Although at first he seems like a somewhat distant person, he is actually a quite nice character and I find his illustrations very nice ><. I'm curious to see what the story will be like between him and the protagonist, and the game in general.

From what I'm reading, this episode was also meh. I keep seeing people pointing out the lack of plot, and from what I can remember HSL only started giving hints for Nath's plot in ep 12 (candy hiding to see Lys' tattoo), and Cast's in ep 14.

If they stick to the sitcom style and don't give you a plot till ep 12 in NG, then all hope abandon you who play here.

Stealing Crowley’s inarticulate consonants here to convey how ill equipped I feel to actually post anything. But I find myself completely overwhelmed at stumbling into the joyous and abundant good omens fandom. I’m no stranger to fandom but its been ages and ages since I attempted to be an active participant of any kind (big fan of lurking, me). My past fandoms have mostly been me going along the ride as things get rolling, building up, etc, slowly friending people, reading, finding forums, etc.

With GO though - I’ve always been a fan of the novel, enjoyed season 1 immensely, but never really went looking for the fandom. Was happy to enjoy it as a stand alone and await the next season and pick up my novel every now and then for a reread. (And get back to making my slow progress through more and more of discworld). I came back to S2 late, was caught up in other shows when it premiered and then I finally watched it in October/Nov and I was promptly bowled over with the tidal wave. That ending meant I couldn’t help myself, had to go find fics and discourse and art and anything to tide me over (particularly since S3 hadn’t yet been announced!). And I haven’t stopped since. I have felt like Aziraphale getting my first taste of the ox ribs and now I am voracious and I can’t seem to get enough. I thought it would be enough for me to just lurk and lurk and lurk, reading and following and liking and consuming. There’s just so many wonderful things to see and read amongst the fandom - yall are a bloody wonder. AND I’ve watched all of Staged multiple times now, listened to Radio Omens, am finally making my way (slowly) through Doctor Who (new, not classic) - a show countless people have always told me I need to watch, and on and on and I find myself wanting to be more a part of things this time, but not really sure how to jump into to a fandom months Too Late (I live in Another Place I guess). and oh god, don’t even get me started on how devastated I am to have missed the graphic novel kickstarter by being Too Late… and how are DT and MS in SO many things, and how do i even break into discord groups? and how did I not know how active NG is on tumblr, I mean, I hadnt even logged into tumblr in maybe a decade and its all so different yet so the same…

DOJ indicts environmental activists Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano of slander, with a maximum penalty of 6 months imprisonment if found guilty. Prosecutors say Castro and Tamano "consciously chose the press conference...to embarrass" the military's 70th IB

Castro and Tamano are 14th documented case of what activists call "fake surrender," or people abducted and then coerced to sign an affidavit of surrender. Castro and Tamano lured their captors to a presscon for a gutsy turnaround. They call it a psy-war.

Dino De Leon, lawyer of Jhed and Jonila, says: "They naturally distrusted people presented to them by their abductors, and saw the press conference as their only way out. It is absurd to expect them to not take the avenue they saw as their only means to survive."

Third, respondents' statements are malicious because it ascribed to complainant and/or the Armed Forces of the Philippines the commission of the crimes of kidnapping and grave coercion.

Lastly, respondents' statements tend to cause dishonor, discredit and contempt upon the person of complainant, the Battalion Commander of the 70th IB, as well as the AFP as an institution.

We consider the statements of respondents to be serious slander because the circumstances of the case show that they consciously, intentionally and on purpose waited and chose the press conference which would be held in public to air their grievance and plight. They have every opportunity from the time they were taken in the custody of the 70th IB to disclose the abduction incident, assuming it is true, to persons who are apolitical but decided to keep quiet purportedly for security reason which was apparently baseless and unfounded.

Seemingly, respondents employed machinations and took advantage of the benevolence of the 70th IB and the AFP to embarrass and put them in bad light. There was a deep-rooted motive on the part of respondents to select a public forum that would express their sentiment. Conspicuously, respondents ventilated the alleged abduction in the press conference, betraying their purpose to expose complainant and the AFP as well to greater latitude of public mockery, demonstrating their ill motive to prejudice them. The slanderous words were obviously uttered with evident intent to strike deep into the character, honor and reputation of complainant and the AFP.

It must be emphasized that a charge is sufficient if the words are calculated to induce the hearers to suppose and understand that the person or persons against whom they were uttered were guilty of certain offenses, or are sufficient to impeach their honesty, virtue, or reputation, or to hold the person or persons up to public ridicule. Finally, probable cause, for purposes of filing a criminal information, has been consistently defined as such facts as are [passage cuts off]

The resolution of the investigating prosecutor is unfortunate, but FLAG will continue to exhaust Jhed and Jonila's available remedies, protect their rights, and hold into account those responsible for the arbitrary deprivation of their liberty and psychological torture.
