Reach Records Celebrates “116 Day” With New Single ‘Walk” Ft Lecrae & Hulvey

The first show airs on January 17th and will feature an interview with Reach Records co-founders, Lecrae, with CEO Ben Washer who will take you on a journey of Reach Records from its founding in 2003 to the present.   Since the 116 Movement began, Reach Records roster has grown from its sole artist, multi-award-winning artist, and New York Times best-selling artist, Lecrae, and expanded from original 116 members Tedashii, Trip Lee, to include Andy Mineo, and newcomers 1K Phew, Wande, Hulvey, WHATUPRG. Lecrae and 1K Phew Receive Four Stellar Award Nominations

          Just days after 1K Phew released "The Offering," the first single and video from his forthcoming solo album, Just As I Am, the nominations for the 37th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, were announced.

      Reach Records, a trailblazing hip-hop label, received four nominations from The Stellar Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in Gospel music, with each going to Grammy Award winning artist, Lecrae, and Reach Records’ rising star, 1K Phew, for their collaborative album, No Church In A While.

        1K Phew’s new project collaborative album with Lecrae, No Church In A While, was released on December 3, 2021 and featured 10 tracks including: “Wildin” “Ready Or Not,” “Move It,” “One Call,” “What We Gon Do,” “Amen,” “Blockhead,” “Born Sinner” “Save Us,” and “No Church In A. While.” 

       The concept for their collaborative album, No Church For A While grew out of 1K Phew and Lecrae’s conversations. Lecrae was recording his mixtape, Church Clothes 4, when it occurred to him that people hadn’t been to church to even put on those church clothes in a while because of the pandemic, church hurt, and other reasons. After hearing some of the songs 1K Phew had recorded for the album, he decided to not only mentor him, but record a collaborative album together. 

       “No Church In A While has all types of meanings,” expresses 1K Phew. “We just went through the pandemic and ain’t nobody to church in a minute. This album is for everybody who ain’t been to church or connected to God in a while who thinks they can’t go back. It ain’t really that deep. God is waiting for everybody to tap back in. No Church In A While is telling people there’s still hope, you can still turn to God no matter how long you’ve been away.”

"Friends" by Andy Mineo

Friends are hard to come by, especially in the society we live in today. We are on the go people, sprinting from point A to point B. It takes time a courage to develop friendships, but only those who stay through the trenches and survive will be the true telling of a real friend. Andy makes it really clear on who is a real friend.

"When the last time you think bout me? Probably the last time drinks on me."

I am pretty sure we have had friends like these. Only hit you up when they need something, part timers. This line is constantly repeated throughout the song to paint a picture. True friends go through the trenches with you, and as he mentions in the song, "If you knew I was bugging and you stayed quiet You said I was right when I ain't right", real friends calls you out. Even though being told we are wrong or out of line hurts, we need friends who loves us enough to say something that may help us see things differently, hence we can grow.

Growing up in high school I had no shortage of friends, I mean I was one of the most popular people you will find. But it wasn't until I got to college where i found "brothers", men with whom I took road trips with, cried with, celebrated with and shared overall memories with. Those relationships have lasted so much longer than the relationships I developed in high school.

We all need people that we can go deep with, to share our secrets with and to help us when help is needed. Andy has hit points that everyone has experienced. I may add that relationships takes time to develop. For me, moving back home and trying to find people in town was a struggle. I put expectations on people hoping I can recreate the relationships I have with my friends in Memphis. Only through patience and work, new friendships were formed and I am grateful for it.
