Back on November 5th, I mentioned how strange it was for me sometimes to keep looking at these 150,000 portraits we have from across the country that never age. And I put it out there for followers to let me know of any updates they'd like to share.⁠ ⁠ Bruce Kurta got in touch. Not much new with him - he's now retired. But he filled me in on what his daughter Taylor has been up to and it's pretty amazing.⁠ ⁠ This portrait was taken upstairs at the now defunct Hardrock Cafe at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto as part of the Luminato Festival back in 2009 when Taylor was 16. They came down special from the northern part of the city and Bruce described it as one of his favourite father-daughter memories.⁠ ⁠ Since then, Taylor was awarded the RBC/Canada's Walk of Fame Emerging Artist Award in 2013 and pursued studies in music therapy - eventually using music and songwriting as a therapeutic aid for a wide range of patients in a Toronto hospital. “19h08m” is the title and time I captured this image of Lake Ontario photo-transferred directly onto the gallery’s wall. This wall work is open to change and active collaboration.
