I wish Apple's 2018 MacBook Pros had more compelling updates
New Post has been published on https://idealz.cloud/2018/07/12/i-wish-apples-2018-macbook-pros-had-more-compelling-updates/
I wish Apple's 2018 MacBook Pros had more compelling updates
Tumblr media
Apple finally updated its MacBook Pros after over a year (a lifetime in the computer world) without changes.
But as attractive as some of the new features are — faster processors, more RAM and storage configurations, and, err, a quieter keyboard — none of them really leap off Apple’s website and make me want to yell, “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!“
This isn’t a full review of the new MacBook Pros — I haven’t seen or used them in person and we’ll have one soon enough — but my honest opinion on what Apple’s announced. See, although I review consumer tech for a living, I’m still a consumer and vote with my own money.
My own personal laptop is a maxed-out 2013 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. It was one of the last of this particular model to come with a full suite of ports (full-sized USB, SD card, MagSafe, etc.) before Apple redesigned its notebook lineup in 2016, dropping all ports in favor of USB-C.
The fully loaded laptop, which I bought with a sizable discount from B&H, has served me well over the years. But, five years on, it’s on its last legs.
Some of the keys on the keyboard are cracked after suffering who knows how many thousands of words on Mashable. The Intel processor and integrated graphics are too slow for crunching 4K-resolution videos and chokes hard for streaming 4K videos on YouTube. The MiniDisplay Ports constantly can’t maintain a stable connection to the two old Apple Cinema Displays I have (the displays work fine with a Windows 10 laptop). And the Retina display’s anti-reflective coating has started to wear off, but I’ve been too lazy to bring it to Apple for what could be a free repair.
In short: I need a new laptop, and although I like what the updated MacBook Pros offer, I don’t love them. For my specific case, the 15-inch MacBook Pro is off the table; it’s simply too large for my needs.
But let’s go down the list of reasons why I’m not pulling out credit card without hesitation.
1. It’s really expensive
Tumblr media
RIP your wallet.
The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with Intel 8th-generation Core i5 or i7 chips, a maximum configuration of up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of SSD storage.
These are much-needed and respectable spec bumps, but holy moly, is it pricey. The base configuration with an Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD costs $1,800. Tick off the checkboxes for all the highest configurations and it balloons up to an I’m-gonna-cry $3,700.
Now, I’m aware MacBook Pros have always commanded a premium, especially with the upgraded configurations. But like damn, even the entry-level model is too much. I’ve got other ridiculously priced things (like New York City rent) to pay, man.
Apple’s site shows the 13-inch MacBook Pro still starts at $1,300 for the non-Touch Bar model, but that’s for the old model with slower processor. The new $1,800 model isn’t replacing the 2017 models at all.
Which brings me to my next point…
2. You’re stuck with the Touch Bar
Tumblr media
If you want to blame the $1,800 price on anything, blame it it on the Touch Bar because the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro doesn’t come in a version with the regular function row.
Nearly two years since its debut, I can now confidently say the Touch Bar is not very good. Not only does it take extra taps to change settings like the volume and brightness, but few developers have really programmed anything extraordinary for it.
Heck, Apple didn’t even show off any new uses for it at WWDC this year. And if Apple can’t come up with new compelling uses for the Touch Bar, then nobody will.
Fact is, the Touch Bar is an overpriced extra that nobody really needs, and few people are willing to pay more for. Apple not selling a version of its new MacBook Pros with regular function rows has me worried that model is on its way out for good.
I don’t think I’m alone in wanting to save a few hundred bucks (maybe put it towards Final Cut Pro X or something) for a non-Touch Bar model.
3. The keyboard’s still worrisome
Based on all the reports from reporters who got hands-on time with the new MacBook Pros, it appears Apple hasn’t redesigned the controversial flat keyboards so that they don’t break from specks of dust.
Apple’s stance is the keyboard problems only affect a small number of devices, but I’m doubtful of the claims. Mashable Tech Editor Pete Pachal has been using a 15-inch MacBook Pro loaner for just a few weeks and he’s already experienced an unresponsive key.
The third-gen “butterfly-switch” keyboard isn’t devoid of improvements. The keys are supposed to feel different — more like the keys on pre-2016 MacBook Pro redesign. But I’ll believe it when I get to try the new keyboard myself.
The keyboard’s also quieter, but is that really a change many people were asking for? While I personally appreciate a quieter keyboard (yes, I hear my colleagues pounding extra hard on their MBPs), I think I’m in the minority.
Most people just want a reliable keyboard with more travel. I’m concerned we’ll have to wait until at least the next update or refresh to get both.
4. Still missing an SD card slot
Tumblr media
Apple still hates the the SD card.
Image: OBY SESSIONS/MACFORMAT MAGAZINE/GETTY IMAGES
It’s 2018 and dongle hell is very much still a thing. I could complain about it and how USB-C hasn’t become the catch-all port we were promised years ago, but I’d sound like a broken record.
I’ll concede full-sized USB ports aren’t coming back. Neither is HDMI or Mini DisplayPort or MagSafe.
But why, oh why, couldn’t Apple add the SD card slot back? If the MacBook Pros are indeed machines for pros – people who need to do “real” heavy-duty work, then the port needs to return.
I’m all for shooting with my iPhone in most situations. But there are still many times where I need my mirrorless or DSLR. As working professional who shoots both photos and videos, the port is essential. It’s comical the unloved MacBook Air is the only laptop Apple now sells with an SD card slot.
Handful of other concerns
Tumblr media
Next time, maybe.
Image: lili sams/mashable
These are my biggest concerns for the new 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, I have a few others.
True Tone, which changes the color temperature of the display, is now built into the new laptops. It’s a nice feature on iPhones, but I’m not sure if it’s a must-have on a laptop. I’d much rather have a display that covers more of Adobe’s color space, like the Razer Blade 15.
The 13-inch is only configurable with up to 16GB of RAM. There’s no 32GB of RAM option, which exclusive to the 15-inch MacBook Pro. It’s understandable adding a 32GB of RAM option for the 13-incher would have meant including a larger battery like on the 15-inch, but it still would have been nice to have the choice. Why not let consumers decide if they’re willing to deal with an extra pound or less of weight in exchange for more memory? Other computer makers do.
Touch ID also feels like it’s gonna be outdated quickly with Face ID just waiting to make the leap to the Mac. After bringing Touch ID to the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, logic suggests Face ID will probably make land on the laptops in the future, too. Having used Windows Hello on Windows 10 laptops, I can confidently say signing in with your face is a convenience worth paying for.
I don’t think I’m being unreasonable. As my computer turns five, I’m exactly the target buyer who’s looking for a new machine. If I, a power user, feels like Apple could have went just a little further to make the MacBook Pro better, then I can’t even imagine what someone who’s not as demanding is thinking right now.
They have to be seriously considering a rock-solid alternative like the Huawei MateBook X Pro. Because I know I am.

The Razer Book 13 is a refreshing take on the productivity laptop, but should you buy it?
The ultrabook market in 2021 is kind of stale, especially on the Windows side of things. With brands like Dell, Lenovo, and Microsoft releasing iterative updates to their laptop lines, it can be underwhelming to see the same designs over and over again. Enter Razer's new Book 13: a sleek, compact statement piece that packs in some serious power.
Tumblr media
This is Razer's first productivity-focused laptop, and frankly, it's one of the best first attempts you're going to find. You're getting a modern design, a gorgeous display, and comfortable performance in a highly portable package.
Design
The Razer Book 13 is truly impressive from a design standpoint. The enclosure gives off an industrial look with flat edges all the way around. The laptop is a bit heavier than other productivity laptops, such as the Surface Laptop 4 13.5-inch, weighing in at around 3.09lbs, but you're going to get one of the most compact 13-inch computers on the market.
Tumblr media
The front lip on the bottom edge of the laptop allows you to open it with one hand, but because it's magnetic, I found it to be cumbersome at times. That said, closing the screen makes a very satisfying snap.
Unlike other Razer laptops, this one comes in a silver colorway called Mercury; the finish is pleasantly paired with the color-matched Razer logo and white keyboard, but it gets dirty regularly. If you put this laptop into a bag or any storage compartment, you will see dark marks begin to form on the metal body. These marks are easily removable with a cloth, but it can be a hassle when you have to clean your laptop frequently.
Tumblr media
Display
The Razer Book 13 has one of the best-looking laptop displays, period. The spec I got for review is the Full HD variant with touch; Razer also offers the Full HD non-touch variant for cheaper, or you can opt for the top-of-the-line UHD model which also supports touch.
This screen is arguably one of the best aspects of this laptop, and it's nearly the perfect display for a productivity laptop of its class. It gets reasonably bright, and colors are vivid and mostly color-accurate. The bezels are very slim and minimal, making for a truly immersive experience for working, gaming, and streaming movies and videos.
Tumblr media
There's nothing to complain about here; this display is great. Some additions that would make this panel better would be changing the aspect ratio from 16:10 to 3:2. The 16:10 aspect ratio on the Razer Book 13 is better for productivity than its 16:9 gaming siblings, but opting for the taller 3:2 aspect ratio would be good to see. Another thing Razer could do is offer a higher refresh rate. The Razer Book 13 display is 60hz, but since Razer already offers 144hz panels for its Blade 13, a higher refresh rate on this laptop would set it apart against other productivity laptops.
The Keyboard: RGB isn't Enough
So far, we've raved about the superb design of the Razer Book 13, but this gets overshadowed by the laptop's suboptimal typing experience. Compared to other productivity laptops like the Surface Laptop 4, the Razer Book 13's typing experience is disappointing.
This keyboard feels mushy and cramped compared to its competition. It's far too shallow, and in my time testing, I never got used to it. I always ended up missing letters, and when typing fast, the stiffness of the keys meant you couldn't recognize when a key was being pressed.
Tumblr media
In typical Razer fashion, this keyboard does support Razer Chroma RGB, and the laptop comes with Razer Chroma Studio preinstalled to allow you to customize the lighting effects on it. Razer also says the keyboard has Anti-Ghosting, which supposedly allows it to pick up on multiple inputs from keys at once. However, this isn't effective when you end up missing keys because of the keyboard's mushiness. The trackpad on this laptop is glass and supports Microsoft Precision drivers on par with other premium productivity ultrabooks.
Overall the keyboard is by far the weakest feature of this otherwise great laptop.
Specifications and Performance
The Razer Book 13 comes equipped with Intel's 11th gen i7 EVO processor, which features Intel Iris Xe Graphics. You can get this laptop with 16GB of RAM and either 256 or 512GB of storage. The base model Razer Book 13 is sold exclusively on Razer's site, and it brings the price down to $1200 by using the 11th gen i5, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
The variant we have for review is the mid-tier i7 with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and this is the configuration we recommend for most people as the i7 performs considerably well.
Tumblr media
This laptop is powerful; during testing, it could easily handle a 4K Premiere Pro timeline at full resolution without dropping any frames. This laptop can run graphic-intensive games at medium to high settings for gaming but don't expect crazy framerates.
Compared to Razer's gaming lineup, you're getting a weaker U-series chipset than the H-series found on the Razer Blades, and you're using integrated graphics compared to GeForce 30 series graphics on the Blades. All this boils down to allowing the Razer Book 13 to be compact and power-efficient compared to its more gaming-centric siblings.
The thermal design on the Razer Book 3 is great for a laptop of this form factor as it's mostly silent and stays relatively cool during heavy workloads.
Overall, you're getting superb performance on a laptop that's as small and compact as the Razer Book 13.
Battery Life
The battery life on this laptop follows suit with most other productivity laptops; on average, you can expect 7-8 hours of screen-on-time with moderate usage. In my testing, heavier workloads within programs like Premiere Pro meant you're going to get just under 6 hours of use before needing to plug in.
Keep in mind that the model tested in this review is the Full HD variant, so if you opt for the higher resolution 4K version, your battery life will most likely decrease.
The laptop charges via USB-C, and the included power brick supports 65W charging. The charger for the Razer Book 13 is quite nice since the brick is small and compact, and the cable is very nicely braided.
Key Features
The port selection on the Razer Book 13 is excellent. You'll find two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, a USB-A 3.1 port, a full HDMI port, a MicroSD card slot, and a headphone jack. This is great for productivity since you'll be able to utilize a diverse selection of ports without having to ditch out any extra money for dongles or docks.
The USB-C ports both support power, allowing you to plug in the laptop from both the right and left sides, making it super convenient for charging.
Tumblr media
The Thunderbolt 4 supports 40Gbps of high bandwidth, so you can easily plug your laptop into a dedicated monitor or eGPU to maximize speed and performance. The versatility of Razer's port selection is great to see in a compact laptop like Book 13.
Tumblr media
The Razer Book 13 comes equipped with a 1MP 720p camera paired with a 4-mic array. The mic input on this laptop is decent, but the camera is nothing special; it's considerably noisy and unappealing. The laptop also comes equipped with Windows Hello facial recognition, and this allows you to log into your device with little to no hassle.
For the speakers, Razer opted for a dual pair of upward-firing speakers, and for the most part, they are crisp and clear, but it's nothing too extraordinary. You will still experience distortion at higher volumes. The laptop supports spatial audio, but it's not that effective in this type of form factor.
Repairability
The Razer Book 13 follows suit with most ultraportable within its class when it comes to repairability. You can upgrade the SSD, which is great to see as you can get more storage compared to Razer's offering of only 256 or 512GB. The RAM, however, is soldered on, so if you opt for the 8GB variants, you won't be able to upgrade it. The laptop is accessible through the bottom using a T5 Torx screwdriver.
The Razer Book 13's non-upgradeable RAM isn't a dealbreaker, but it does mean you will have to ditch out $1600 for more RAM; the highest configuration of RAM you can opt for is 16GB.
Who is the Razer Book 13 For?
Overall, the Razer Book 13 is an exceptional productivity laptop. You're getting a sleek industrial design, great performance, a stunning screen, and decent battery life. The port selection is diverse, and you can easily conquer tasks with ease on an ultraportable form factor.
Tumblr media
That said, the keyboard remains to be the only major weak point on this laptop with its shallow key-travel and mushiness. If you're a heavy typist, you should consider picking up an external keyboard to go along with your Razer Book 13 purchase.
We recommend the Razer Book 13 to anyone who is looking to get a small compact laptop that offers great performance and adequate battery life for schoolwork, games, and occasionally heavier tasks like video editing.

So, your Windows computer is running sluggish. What do you do?
Many computer repair services offer “tune ups” of your computer. But do these tune up services work? Let’s look at what a tune up of your PC should look like so you can see what’s involved.
At this point, assume the PC is infected with malware and use proper precautions so you do not infect other computers. If you know for sure that you are infected with Malware, then my next article will deal with that specifically. For now, lets assume we are simply experiencing sluggishness or a slow computer that may be caused by Malware or it may be caused by a few other things.
The first step in a tune up is to inspect the inside of the machine. That will usually mean to “Blow out the dust” in addition to inspecting all fans, intake grills, outgo grills, and heatsink fins. All should be cleaned as necessary. Ditto for the heatsink on the graphics processing unit or GPU.
Will the PC Boot? Time for a Boot Test. Once booted up successfully(hopefully), a system assessment can be made. The technician will have diagnostic software to load at this time which will show all the various aspects of a running computer, including the hard drive capacities, the overall hard drive health, detailed software, hardware, network and security configurations.
We want to see if there are memory issues at the hardware level. Thus, memory tests will be run at this time. Bad RAM memory modules are possible although rare.
Before anything is changed, a Full image backup of your hard drive(s) is done. We don’t want to lose any files if serious problems occur so we back everything up.
Other visual inspections may be made where the battery on the motherboard, the motherboard itself, the temperature is checked, and for laptops we want to inspect the keyboard itself. Making sure the “Fn” key works. The units time and date are verified.
Then we might turn towards the software and look at the User Account Control (UAC) and make sure it is turned on and set properly. Power settings are looked at. Screensaver timeout changed back to NONE. System protection is looked at and changed to ON. These are your critically important system restore points. Make sure there is only one running restore program and only one drive C drive! Windows lets us “create” a restore point whenever we wish.
More software tools can be implemented to clean up the file system, to remove temp files, cookies, etc. All files are deleted in the downloads folder as well. And if there is a WINDOWS.OLD folder, it has got to go. That’s doing nothing but taking up space and slowing things down.
Let’s now connect to the internet and let’s make sure Windows Firewall settings are on. Third-party firewalls may be present which is unfortunate but ok. Its just not recommended since Windows has a firewall built right in Windows.
Usually this is a good time to perform Malware scans. Its not simply as easy as running a software program. Usually I will run 5 different programs because no one program can do it all.
A BIOS upgrade is next. Your BIOS is that dark screen right before Windows boots. It resides on your motherboard and is very important to not just performance but to whether your PC boots up or not. These computer files get updated and new BIOS configurations become available. Its not the easiest upgrade as a ‘flash install’ is needed. These are tricky maneuvers because they are done outside of a Windowed environment, however, a current BIOS is usually recommended.
Supposing we tossed the old BIOS in favor of the new one, why don’t we continue this organizing and look to delete other software programs? Old Adobe reader programs, Flash, Java, and other programs litter our hard drives and slow our system down. This include any Anti-Malware “suites” other than Windows Defender (Windows’ excellent built-in antivirus/malware program).
So, scans are complete. How about the internet connection and speed? And let’s run Windows Update to make sure all the updates are done. We keep re-running windows update until there are no more updates. Plus, I would check in Windows settings or run a program called WINVER to confirm the version of Windows is at least 1709 or higher. Microsoft updates Windows about twice a year and 1709 was a big one.
Device conflicts are inspected and fixed if any are found. These are those pesky Red X’s or Question Marks on top of these devices. They need to be fixed, all of them, before continuing.
Hard disk inspections using different scanning software will be used to see if any large file blocks or defragmentation shows up. Windows 10 shouldn’t have any defrag problems, but it needs to be checked anyway. Warning: Never defrag a solid-state drive (SSD) drive!
Optimizing the Folder View Options can be next. These are found in control panel and there is a half dozen or so checkboxes that should be checked (not all of them) to help achieve a smoother running machine. Similarly, visiting System Properties, Computer name, Startup and Recovery, and Virtual Memory will help to make sure various settings are either ‘checked’ or ‘unchecked’ properly.
Disable Autoplay. Thanks to bad design decisions, Autoplay, also known as AutoRun, was once a huge security problem on Windows. Autoplay helpfully allowed malicious software to launch as soon as you inserted discs and USB drives into your computer. Windows 10 largely fixed the issue, but it is still a good idea to disable it.
You can also optimize your mouse and touchpad controls as well. Turning off a lot of the eye candy will help your performance.
You can apply these optimization activities over to your display and to the Desktop to achieve similar gains. For example, turning off ‘transparency effect’ will help. And the desktop should be no more than 500MB (not GB) in size.
There are lots of places where Microsoft is selling you something. You can remove these too. As an example, under settings>System>Notifications&Actions you can turn OFF “Get Tips, Tricks, and Suggestions as you use Windows”. You don’t need this.
There are a lot of optimizations you can do to Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome too. Mostly these deal with getting rid of all the cache, how to deal with cookies, and whether you are clearing browsing history when you exit.
If you don’t have an email program like Outlook, we can install Thunderbird and usually do. Its free and is an impressive program. Ditto for an Office Suite. LIBRE Office is free and a worthy competitor to Microsoft Office. If you want these programs installed, just remember to change the default Office program (control panel>default programs).
Clear all the event logs and system logs in Event viewer. Rerun file and disk utilities. Run Anti-Malware updates and scans again. Run “Six-Shooter” which is a collection of six utilities to further weed out any malware in the system.
The system can now be tested to make sure all parts are working as designed and any problems fixed. Browsers can be tested. File Types (.doc, .docx, .ppsx, .ppt, & .pptx) can be opened and closed to see if the file associations work. Play a video file. Make sure the CD player works. Things like that. Check the sounds.
A final run of system diagnostic software will close this up. This will provide a snapshot of what your system looks like now, post optimization.
This has also been a hardware inspection. Thus, your technician can share thoughts or give advice on the sun-setting of certain hardware and the need to, perhaps, upgrade something if for nothing else than to achieve better security. For example, perhaps they are running Windows 10 version 1709 when version 1809 is available. Or maybe their CPU is so old, you can only play black and white media on it. Seriously though, computer hardware is a depreciating asset. It comes into favor and then it goes out of favor. You cannot simply buy one piece of hardware and stick with it for 30 years.
Now, having said this, I just extended the life of my TEN YR OLD MacBook Pro by adding an SSD drive and reinstalling the operating system. For a ten-year-old, she sure acts like a newborn! I may have extended the life a little bit, but I am still running about four versions of operating system behind the current version(not to mention the ancient CPU). That’s because Apple doesn’t support my aging hardware anymore. Microsoft is no different.
From a security standpoint, this becomes untenable and I better get to the store to replace my MacBook soon. Luckily, however, I just purchased a brand new Razer Blade 15 Windows Laptop! In my line of work i need to have both a Mac and a Windows computer at all times.

The Cutting Edge Of 2-In-1 Laptops For HP Spectre X360 13 – 2019
The gap between the two-in-one laptop and the tablet laptop hybrid is steadily shrinking. Devices such as the 12.9-inch may mean that tablet hybrids will soon become the preferred form factor. However, with the new Spectre x360 13, HP is doing its best to make 2-in-1 notebooks more popular than ever.
Since the launch of the first model in 2015, HP's Spectre x360 series has been at the forefront of 2-in-1 notebook technology. In addition to the usual specification upgrades, this year's Spectre x360 13 has undergone some notable design changes, and is also equipped with HP's built-in Sure View privacy screen technology.
What Do You Need To Know?
The HP Spectre x360 13 (2019) is an advanced consumer notebook with a 13.3-inch touch screen and 360-degree swivel hinges. As you would expect, it is technically superior to all previous Spectre x360 models. My evaluation unit has 1,920 x 1,080 (full HD) display resolution and the 8th generation Intel Core i7-8565U processor, as well as 8GB of memory and 512GB PCIe SSD. HP even bundled a rechargeable Active Pen stylus to strengthen the deal.
Price And Competition
For the HP Spectre x360 13 (13-ap0001na) I described above, you will have to pay up to £1,400. This is not a joke, and the price of the basic model is not so cheap as £1,200. Now, for £1,300, you get the latest.
Looking for the most powerful HP Spectre x360? You will have to purchase the larger HP Spectre x360 15 (2019). The top model is priced at £1,900 with a 4K display, an Intel Core i7-8500H CPU and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card.
Design
The all-new Spectre x360 13 is an all-aluminum construction that has a similar aesthetic and color scheme to the HP Spectre x360 (2018) we reviewed last year. The form factor and frame size are also roughly the same. Its weight gain is only 1.29 kg, only 1.33 kg, 14.7 mm thicker than last year's 13.6 mm. But most of the smallest extra volume is offset by the trailing edge of the angle "gem cut".
Touch Screen And Active Pen
The touch screen itself is reliable and responsive, with a smooth Corning Gorilla Glass NBT coating that reduces friction and prevents smudging. I have no complaints about the bundled HP Active Pen stylus. First of all, it's free. When Microsoft and Apple need a £100 or more separately sold stylus, this is definitely a blessing.
Keyboard And Touchpad
The geometry of the Spectre x360 13 is as traditional as possible. The keys have a lot of travel and feedback, and there are research clicks that are pressed separately. The LED backlight is controlled by the F5 key and has two levels of brightness. The F1 key activates HP's Sure View security technology, which I will cover in the next section. Below the keyboard is a fingerprint sensor, in theory, the laptop should be unlocked immediately. According to my two weeks of use, I have to reset the fingerprint ID twice, so it is not reliable.
Sure View Privacy Screen
Touch the F1 key to activate the HP Sure View integrated privacy screen feature built into the HP Spectre x360 13 display. Sure View is an innovative security measure that dramatically reduces the viewing angle of your monitor and prevents "visual hacking" of sensitive information.
Display
The 13.3-inch IPS touchscreen of my evaluation model has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, although the 4K version is available as previously mentioned. The display quality is stable, the main problem is that the maximum brightness is relatively low, 292.9cd / m2. The panel is also reflective, and if the lighting conditions are too overbearing, it may cause insufficient brightness.
Performance And Battery Life
The HP Spectre x360 13 has better CPU performance than the one we tested last year, but it does not meet the standards set by other notebooks with the same chipset. Both the Dell XPS 13 (2019) and the Razer Blade Stealth 13 feature the Intel Core i7-8565U with excellent benchmark results.
Verdict
In many ways, the HP Spectre x360 13 is a comprehensive improvement on the equivalent model we tested last year, but it is still outdated in 2019. Blame on huge baffles or defective touchpads, but performance is the biggest cause of concern. Despite the Intel Core i7-8565U chipset, it does not improve some laptops that carry the weaker Intel Core i5 chip. Lack of motivation stems from poor heat management and limits the CPU before it reaches its full potential.
