There are (as of now) four different versions of Rayo X featuring in the storyline for 'Socorro'. And no, it's not a multiverse thing.

Above right is 'Los Campeones' era Rayo, redesigned to fit the stye of Socorro.

The Moon also features. Above are sketches from the animatic of her in various poses. The middle image is what I'm settling on after taking all the others into account.

I was debating if this was an art blog post or not. The I was like…does it really matter? Yes…the art blog followers already know I’m insane 😔 Time for mains to know it too!!

So there will be some rambling (ehh kinda) under the cut

SHE BOOPS HIM!!!!

And they walk off arm in arm! Well..he’s holding on to her, and that’s sending me. He’s the fucking “lone wolf” but if Sorpresa calls him he’ll stick to her like glue.

So he just ripped some guys skin off and doesn’t give a shit when Jr or Pro get pissy with him, but when its suddenly all down to Sorpresa to win her match he not only admits he was at fault BUT apologized! The only time he’s kinda friendly with the others is when he says “You might just rate with the ace.” To be fair he was a lot nicer to them after that and they were less scared of him, but that’s not what this is about!

LOOK AT THAT!! He took her hand to make sure she would understand and then she grabs his back and is like “Don’t worry, hot shot! I got this!” AND SHE GRABS HIS CHIN NAD HE JUST ACCEPTS IT XDDDDDD

He never seems to mind her hanging off of him compared to the eye rolls and uncomfortable glances when others do it.

Anyone who can klap the Bone Breaker From Beyond and not be instantly killed is probably someone he actually likes too much to get rid of.

I like to think he actually has more respect for her than the others because she never seemed to be scared of him and even after she lost a fight with him she was still ready to keep going!

I literally have so much else to say, but I can’t add more pictures and what’s the point without visuals?

So as you can see I am very normal about them…ye. I love them and I’m glad they’re friends.

We always chance the unknown, but once we find it there’s a chance that it might not live up to our expectations.

By making the unknown known we have made it mundane.

By removing a wrestler of their mask they lose that charming mystery.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did Lux Interior end up in Los Campeones? Did he find you or did you find him?

We pretty much could hear in our collective heads how we wanted the characters to sound...except Rayo X. I remember sitting around and discussing that Rayo's voice needed to be a little more 'out there' and not a typical voice actor. We talked about musicians and who Rayo would sound like. The Cramps had just payed at the Silver Lake Festival (we were based in Los Feliz/Silver Lake CA) at the time) and so our Production Coordinator Jim Cherry blurted out "What about Lux from The Cramps?". Brilliant.

Collectively we knew a lot of LA bands and musicians and through a band connection (I think it was The Groovie Ghoulies) we managed to track down Lux, who conveniently lived a few minutes away in Glendale.

(So yeah, like everything else in the production of Los Campeones it was a real indie way of working: no agents, just dealing with the artists themselves.)

Lux and Ivy came to audition at Noho Sound in North Hollywood. I felt really bad making him audition, but didn't know what voice he was planning to use. They were the sweetest, nicest people. The subsequent recording session went great, and he paid me the greatest compliment after directing him. Great days. Stressful days, but great :)

Great re-issue of an early work by the great Belgian artist Edgar P Jacobs,who was very influential in the modernisation of Herge's Tintin books.

My main reason for posting this, is that with a Mayan pyramid and an octopus, it is uncannily similar to what I am working on right now.

And if that 'U' were a 'Z', it would be downright eerie...
