it's kind of awful this fandom seems to have been hijacked by fear of raxis and his toadies, to the point I've gotten warned by multiple people not to talk about Edelgard doing shit out loud because he'll show up with his army of alts and harassers. there's got to be something we can do about this besides living in fear of being sea lioned and maybe doxxed, just for having opinions that aren't "waifu good and right" ?

every time I interact with another Edelgard fan I see them parroting the same talking points, too. it's really getting incredibly creepy and insular, like there's just a little cult of people who think they're smart enough to know better than to get sucked in, and because Edelgard bi and girlboss then she can't be wrong, so they're so self righteous too. it's sickening.

Warning others and spreading more awareness helps. Also it's generally just a good idea to point out how weird that shit is. That or you ignore them, but they seem to take ignoring/blocking as an invitation for somer eason.

I decided to read a bit of Raxis' essay response to you out of curiosity - see what the points are and all - and uh.

So he says Edelgard isn't JUST trying to unify Fodlan, it's only "a step on the path" so.... she is trying to unify Fodlan. It's just not ALL she's trying to do. How is that a defense?

And then "Dimitri goes full Rufus" by refusing Edelgard's attempt at allowing him to surrender the Church and return to Faerghus peacefully because he believed she'd still try to kill him anyway... making him irrational, but. Hm. In GW, wasn't Dimitri eventually forced to do exactly that due to being unable to protect the Church and Faerghus against the Empire and the Alliance...

If I recall, CLAUDE went to go kill Rhea, and Edelgard and her army followed Dimitri back to Faerghus. So much for allowing him to return to Faerghus peacefully. I dunno, maybe Dimitri can just read the room. Better than Raxis can, at that. I also seem to recall Edelgard rejecting DIMITRI'S attempts to reach out to her/get her to surrender in AM (twice).... she had a really good reason for doing that though, I'm sure. Unlike Dimitri.

Anyway, how does "unifying is just step 1 of making Fodlan better because she JUST wants her reforms" square away with "allowing Dimitri to remove himself from the conflict and return peacefully to his Kingdom?" Those two points are in complete contradiction to each other and are yet thrown out so confidently as rebuttal. Almost like he didn't stop to think about how those two facts didn't actually add up.

I didn't read the rest. I kinda don't feel like I need to. I wonder who he thought the "Lady of Deceit" in the CF chapter that involves Edelgard lying about the church doing something reprehensible was, anyway. Cornelia didn't do anything deceitful in CF's storyline besides sabotage the Kingdom as usual but hey, you'd think Edelgard would love that. Must've been Cornelia. Or maybe it was Rhea. Yeah. Got to have been Rhea.

Definitely Rhea. When in doubt, the green lady is to blame. She didn't share her stash of weed with Edelgard.

The irony is that Raxis actually makes Reyna MORE popular with his obsession. Since he keeps talking about her work on different platforms, he introduces new people to it and they’re not always the kind that leave nasty comments. Some people he has introduced to her work, especially on TVTropes, ended up genuinely liking her writing (as proven by the fact that Raxis essentially complained about it in the editor notes).

I'll say it before and I'll say it again, people like Raxis, and the rest of the Edelstans ruined 3H for a lot of people. There's a reason why nobody looks back at the Fodlan universe fondly anymore, besides the fact that people are noticing the flaws more (which hey, no game is perfect). And considering how it's the most popular game in the FE series so far, yeah not a good look if there's a vocal bunch who'll go out of their way to sealion, harass, send borderline death threats, and spread disgusting rhetoric just cause someone doesn't like the female red emperor or sees her as the antagonist (which the devs see her as).

The fandom is just a cesspool of negativity because a certain group of people see anything negative about their fav as a personal attack. But they'll insist it's a both-sides problem to avoid taking responsibility.

Fucking hell I miss being able to just shitpost without edelgard discourse popping up every 5 seconds, or being told youre sexist for not liking a female character (???)

The person they're likely talking about "getting harassed" by "you and your friends" is that guy who wrote that ass Edel/eth fic with all the sexism and racism and shit. Someone on Tumblr went through his fic and critiqued it (a lot of calling out the sexism and racism and etc.), him and his friends got offended by someone DARING to critique this MASTERPIECE of literature, and Raxis and pals have been using this as an excuse to genuinely harass anyone remotely critical of Edelgard for the past 2-3 years.

That person who critiqued that fic hasn't talked about it in around a year now, by the way.

The worse part about the whole Sitri thing was I never once said she was happy to die in childbirth, I only wanted to say that I didn’t think she was upset that she died nor did she hate her life like some people at the time were implying.

I myself for a while had to stay in one place due to my health and while I know people who might have seen that as miserable, I myself was glad to have spent my time the way I did despite my unfortunate situation.

The entire reason it even became “discourse” was because the person who so “kindly” screenshot the post and left my name out, also left out the rest of the thread where I went over how I thought Sitri, in the end, would have thought she lived a good life. Sure she didn’t have adventures around Fodlan but she enjoyed her time around Rhea, Aelfric, and Jeralt. She was happy hearing the stories that Jeralt had to tell her even if she couldn’t live them.

How that became “Sitri was happy to die in childbirth” is beyond me but most Edelstans who clout chase like that have a knack for leaving out the nitty gritty.

Same as Raxy trying to imply I thought Lambert was a better person because he engaged in imperialism when I very very explicitly said that it made him more interesting to explore as a character compared to how Ionius was always absolved of every wrong doing and how nothing was ever his fault.

Those people just like twisting words to fit whatever agenda they think will create the largest mob against their target.
