I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the girl didn't actually love him back😭

Like, imagine the jar not opening because it really needs to be an act of love after all. (That would have been... jarring for him / ... sorry)

I instantly thought of some sad answer, but then you said it would have been jarring and 😂😂😂 Yes, that's absolutely right.

I mean, realistically speaking he would've been immensely disappointed, for many reasons:

that it meant she didn't love him which, oh, would hurt

after he'd just done that to her, there was no way he could ever get her to love him in the future, so he messed up all his chances for a relationship unless he obliviated her, but more on that later

it also meant that he failed to get her to love him, failed to find out what she liked, what she desired, and overall just read her completely the wrong way, and Sebastian doesn't like to fail

he was in love with her and no one else, which meant that he didn't have a chance to open the relic unless he, I don't know, went out and fell in love with someone new, but that's hard to do when you're infatuated with someone in particular

So yeah, he would've been pretty devastated.

He would've been resentful of her to a certain extent too, because Sebastian thinks himself pretty lovable at least on some level, so why can't she love him? 😭 Also, her reticence to love him would've stood in the way of him accomplishing his months-long goal of opening this relic.

But mostly he would have just felt awful about himself, what he'd done, and how... inadequate he would've been proven to be.

It's hard to say what he would have done next. Probably Obliviate her, for his sake and her own (he's avoided Azkaban once, he doesn't want to try his luck again).

But he would always have felt bitter about everything that happened, because he knew her as intimately as you can know someone but he still would not be in her heart, and that would really do a number on him. He'd probably just sink his days into dark arts research to take his mind off it, and he'd likely try to spend less time with her in the future (unsuccessfully, because he still wanted to see and hear her, and a part of him would always hope he can get her to love him).

When it comes to reader's side of things, I'm not sure if she'd have him sent to Azkaban or something. Maybe, probably, but I'm not sure. I guess it depends on how much she knows about Azkaban. Then again, Seb would probably not get a life sentence, because I think that's reserved for using the Unforgivable curses, but still.

And if she were Obliviated of the event, she would always feel... strange around Sebastian after that, as in her body would react weirdly (repulsed and aroused at the same time). It would cross her mind that it had something to do with dark magic, but she'd never imagine Sebastian would force himself on her, and she'd never bring it up with him anyway because it would've been to embarrassing to admit, especially to a friend.

Overall, it would just be a very angsty time for everyone involved 😅

Oh, and it just occurred to me to interpret your ask a different way: like Seb's theory was wrong and it wasn't an act of... intercourse that was required, or at least not one that was forced. If that were the case, he'd feel like the biggest idiot on earth, and she'd probably give him a bit of a beating 😂

Seriously though, I’ve always wanted to host something of this size and scale (even if it was a bit intimidating at first) and I was so worried about the turnout, but you guys came through! Happy One year of Hogwarts Legacy! 💙

And oh Merlin what a RIDE it has been.

On February 9th my dad told me about some silly wizard game he was getting the next day and on February 10th, I found my next new obsession.

Since that day I have loved this game, it's become practically my favorite thing ever and I've made so many new friends, so many good people, and just had a blast!

Because of this game I was able to get past my writers block and write not one but TWO books in one year, I'm working on another and have one more in the works. My creativity has been restored and I've been able to make myself a small place in the community that I cherish so much.

I love this game so much and I love the good people in this game community who are always looking out for each other and love the game just as much as I do.

This game makes me so happy and I hope that it continues to make others happy.

23. Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story the easiest? Hardest?

I think for me the beginning is the easiest (once I actually get going lol) and the hardest is the ending... I feel like I'm really bad at endings. I have a goal to improve on that!

36. What fic are you proudest of?

oooooooh I don't know! I think I have a soft spot for Snow, Scarves, and Schemes, just because I hadn't written anything in like a year, and I somehow got 14k out in one go??? Idk how I did that. It just spurred me to be really excited to write again :)

42. What's your favorite title you've come up with?

Honestly, I hate every title I've ever done lollll. I think the only one I even partially like is "you are a wildflower garden growing in my head" which is a lyric from a song I really like, "The Witching Hour" by The Ready Set :)

68. Are there any fics that influenced you to write the way you do?

You mean besides all of yours?? I'm not even kidding, I LOVE your prose and the witty lines you have, I seriously want to emulate that! There's also several fics by Chipper99 on ao3 that I ADORE.

79. Do you have any writing advice you want to share?

Hm let me think! I'm definitely not an expert, so take anything I say with a grain of salt. I think the biggest thing is to read what you write out loud. See how it flows, what sort of rhythm the sentences make as they move together. Reading aloud also helps dialogue feel more natural, and prose feel more melodic---at least from my experience!
