K * 5 for the fandom ask meme!
Thank you for asking! 🌸
K - say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms
I answer this here, but I’m always happy to talk about my fandom friends so here’s more 🥰
So @besidemethewholedamntime is one of the sweetest people I met here! Thanks to her I felt welcomed here from the very beginning. Her writing is incredible and talking to her always puts a smile on my face 💛!
I still remember when I found @libbyweasley fics and I was obsessed with her writing so I found her on tumblr and then she messaged me and it made my day 🥰. She’s one of the most supportive people here and she’s always so kind 🥰.
@sunalsolove is a reason why I start loving fanfics so much and why I wanted AO3 account - her writing is brilliant and she’s also super nice and kind 🥰. She was one of the first people i follow in AoS fandom and all her content makes me really happy 🥰.
@bobbimorseisbisexual - I had a chance to get to know them better during EvS and I’m really glad that it happened! I have someone to scream about FitzBobbi together 😍!
@for-the-love-of-wolves is not so active in AoS fandom anymore but she’s still very close to my heart ❤️. Her writing is so full of emotions and always makes me feel things. And she was also one of my first fandom friends 🥰.
@apathbacktoyou - it’s another friend I made thanks to EvS event and Lou is just one of the funniest people I met here and having conversations with her it’s always great! And she made me care about those two blue aliens more than I thought I will 😂
@rathxritter - Kate is always so kind and sweet! She’s also one of first fandom friends and I love her writing - she’s always make the best description and makes me feel like I’m there 🥰
And there are many more people that are just amazing 🥰!!! All of them deserve shoutout for being wonderful 😍
Fandom meme - ask game!

Top 5 Maurice moments!!
@albirb asked “top 5 maurice quotes”........ily guys.....
These are NOT in order, I don’t think I could pick an order....
1.  “The second dream is more difficult to convey. Nothing happened. He scarcely saw a face, scarcely heard a voice say, “That is your friend,” and then it was over, having filled him with beauty and taught him tenderness. He could die for such a friend, he would allow such a friend to die for him; they would make any sacrifice for each other, and count the world nothing, neither death nor distance nor crossness could part them, because “this is my friend.”
2.  “You all right, Maurice?”- for he had sighed. “You comfortable? Rest your head on me more, the way you like more...that’s it more, and Don’t You Worry. You’re With Me. Don’t Worry.”
3.  “Why do you go and say you love me?” “Why do you call me Maurice?” “Oh let’s give over talking Here-” and he held out his hand. Maurice took it, and they knew at that moment the greatest triumph ordinary man can win. Physical love means reaction, being panic in essence, and Maurice saw now how natural it was that their primitive abandonment at Penge should have led to peril. They knew too little about each other - and too much. Hence fear. Hence cruelty. And he rejoiced because he had understood Alec's infamy through his own - glimpsing, not for the first time, the genius who hides in man's tormented soul. Not as a hero, but as a comrade, had he stood up to the bluster, and found childishness behind it, and behind that something else.”
4.  “Yes, awfully serious,' remarked Maurice, and rested his hand on Alec's shoulder, so that the fingers touched the back of the neck, doing this merely because he wished to do it, not for another reason.”
5. “They played for the sake of each other and their fragile relationship - if one fell, the other would follow. They intended no harm to the world, but so long as it attacked they must punish, they must stand wary, then hit with full strength, they must show that when two are gathered together majorities shall not triumph. And as the game proceeded it connected with the night, and interpreted it.
Honorable mention goes to the parallel of Alec’s mom saying when he says something he means it and two pages later, Alec saying to Maurice “And now we shan’t be parted no more.” AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

45 Shakespeare Questions: 2, 4, 7, 15, 23
2. which shows have you seen/watched performed or filmed?
OH MAN, okay.  I’m probably forgetting some, but, The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest, Twelfth Night, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Winter’s Tale, King John, Pericles, Richard II, Antony & Cleopatra, Coriolanus, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Romeo & Juliet, Timon of Athens, Titus Andronicus.
4. favorite comedy?
A Midsummer Night’s Dream!
7. play(s) you didn’t like?
The only play I flat out Do Not Like is Henry VIII.  Henry IV Part 2 is also bottom tier for me but Kate Percy saves it.  (I do actually love the histories I promise.)
15. favorite “I will cause problems on purpose” character
I mean... I’m a basic bitch but it’s gotta be Edmund.
23. favorite recurring theme or motif
The motif of nature in King Lear... chef’s kiss.

45 Shakespeare Questions: 1, 2, 4, 12. 41
1. which plays have you read?
As of a few weeks ago, all of them! (Eyeing the sonnets and long poems next....)
2. which shows have you seen/watched performed or filmed?
OH MAN this is a complicated question. If we count our weekly zoom productions, then all of them!
Though I admit that’s a bit different from seeing a full production so, not counting that.... (most of these are the filmed/streaming versions. I can’t wait for live theatre to come back!):
-All’s Well (a Very Mediocre production on youtube. If you have recommendations, please let me know because I want to see a good one!) -As You Like It (student production) -Love’s Labour’s Lost (RSC) -Merchant of Venice (RSC) -Merry Wives of Windsor (Globe) -Midsummer (a few student productions over the years) -Much Ado About Nothing (student productions and also the Tennant & Tate version) -Pericles (well.. I was *IN* Pericles in high school. I don’t know if that counts technically. But i’m counting it!) -The Tempest (another one I was in! But I’ve seen lots of filmed versions too, notably the @synetic-theater‘s wordless production which was SUPER cool!) -Twelfth Night (student productions) -Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 (RSC) -Henry V (RSC & Branagh) -King John (Stratford Festival) -Richard II (Tennant’s RSC production) -Richard III (BBC version with Ron Cook which I do not recommend--it is SO LONG) -Antony and Cleopatra (RSC--I LOVED THIS production so much) -Coriolanus (National Theatre Hiddleston production) -Cymbeline (RSC: weird production, but their Pisanio is goals) -Julius Caesar (Donmar Warehouse. I’m in LOVE with their Caesar.) -King Lear (So many. My favorite so far is Ian Mckellen’s National Theatre production) -Macbeth (another one I was in! But also lots of productions over the years--most recently the RSC production with Eccleston which I hated lol) -Othello (RSC) -Romeo and Juliet (Globe) -Titus Andronicus (Globe)
I’m having a crisis over this question because it’s making me realize that.....I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full production of Hamlet?!?! HOW CAN THIS BE TRUE? But I really cannot think of a single actual production I’ve seen.... I might have watched the Branagh version in college, but I don’t feel confident enough about that to list it.
4. favorite comedy?
If we’re counting the romances, then The Tempest! If not, Twelfth Night.
12. character you can’t bring yourself to care about
The People Of Tumblr are going to kill me for this but.................Horatio. LIKE. HE’S FINE. I DON’T DISLIKE HIM. I just feel overwhelmingly neutral.
41. what kind of editions/versions do you like to read?
I have a Norton Complete Works, which I like! It has some great notes and introductions. (It’s also over 12 years old and has survived some heavy use and many, many moves!)  That being said, it’s HEAVY and not particularly comfortable to carry around. @whereforebase and some friends gifted me several of the Pelican editions, which are lovely and and portable and super aesthetic. I also have my eye on the Arden and the RSC complete works..... though maybe for the sake of my back, I should focus on collecting individual editions.

5.  Something you hate to see in smut.
So, so, so many things. I had to turn an audiobook off because I was laughing too hard the other day because it’s supposed to be a medieval Scottish romance and there’s a big warrior dude and he see’s the heroine and thinks of her girl parts as “the shadowed place between her legs” and all I can think is NEVER GO THERE SIMBA. (It’s where the hyenas live)
But one of my #1 pet peeves is sex toys that don’t work how the author is describing them. I was reading a book by a well known Romantic Suspense author that writes a lot of BDSM and there’s an anal plug in the scene. This author has no idea how it works. The poor girl is apparently supposed to just...hold it in? Um...ah...not how bodies work at all. Even worse, she has it in and then “looses” it during orgasm (and apologizes for doing so) and it’s just...somewhere in the bed and NOBODY LOOKS FOR IT. They’re going to end up with weird E.Coli infections. SIGH. In case you’re wondering...no, you do not have to hold in anal plugs. They’re shaped like they are for a reason. Also, kegel balls don’t have to be held in consciously held in. Your body will do that for you. If they want to fall out, you need to start with lighter ones, you can’t actually just clench and hope for the best, they will migrate down. Sorry to everyone who thought that scene in the second 50 Shades books was amazing.
6.  Something you love to see in smut.
Lube. Please include lube. Every woman doesn’t gush like a fountain, and even if your heroine does, there are still so many activities it’ll help. I also appreciate sex scenes (with any number of people, genders, etc.) that isn’t penetrative. Not every single one needs to involve PIV.
(side note: PIV is used in smut writing for “penis in vagina”, but in medical terminology, it’s “Peripheral Inter-Venous [catheter]” (i.e the needle that stays in your arm when you’re in the hospital) and occasionally my not-awake brain gets very confused during morning report. Bilateral PIVs...what?)
I also like sex scenes with shared laughter between the lovers. There needs to be more of that. Not every scene needs to be Very Dramatic with porn-star moans.
16.  What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve done to put off actually writing?
When Gort and I were writing Aloha, I wrote all of Impossible in a week to put off writing the chapter with the submarine battle because it was technically hard and scary. I wrote a story to avoid writing a story. 😂😂😂

love, love, love your duke vicentio tag!!
Well HE IS!!!
In all honesty, one of my favorite things about M4M is that the text itself is so frequently ambiguous and self-contradictory. You can have interpretations of the Duke ranging from 1) allegory of Christ himself, 2) well-meaning if imperfect leader, 3) incompetent bungler who shouldn’t be allowed within 15 feet of any capitol building, or 4) a Machiavellian rat bastard who enjoys being a behind-the-scenes puppeteer who cold-bloodedly uses his deputy as a scapegoat to boost his own popularity while taking advantage of the deputy’s enacted order... and you could justify your interpretation for ALL FOUR versions with the play’s text!
That being said, I prefer the fourth option. It embraces the teeth-grinding ending, and really cements Angelo as a tragic figure.
MAN I LOVE THIS PLAY.

Thank you so much for the ask! I really appreciate it :) Sorry for the bit of delay, I get distracted and move on to other things as soon as I send these ask posts out. (I should learn from my own experience smh @ me heheheh)
WILLOW: What do you find haunting, but beautiful?
The ends of things. The beach, looking out onto the endless blue. The month of December, dark yet full of warmth, the month I spend in a kind of academic/social hibernation to be reborn in January with the new semester. Saying goodbyes to friends. Ends.
FIR: Which tropes/archetypes do you find the most and the least compelling?
I would like to throw love triangles out of the window of existence thank you:)
I think so much of my early adolescence was defined by literature that fixated on love triangles and it was team this or team that and honey I just want a healthy relationship.
Most compelling? Not sure if it’s the most compelling, but I love a good story about young people being guarded and obnoxious and mean when it comes to love, because love is the hardest thing we’ll ever have to admit to. It makes us weak at the knees and as a young person, that feeling makes me want to squirm, but it’s so necessary, just... ahhhhhhh.....
CHERRY BLOSSOM: What is your personal aesthetic?
My friend just said “classic and cute” when I texted her to ask, because I felt like it was better if I asked someone else what my aesthetic was. I honestly love how people think I’m cute because I feel like a 5′2″ ball of nerve, audacity, and rage. That said, my other friend said that I was “the most highly strung person” she’s ever met which is coming from the angsty punk rocker of our friend group so you know it’s really a toss up :’) (I love the low key hiking club).
PERIWINKLE: What makes you nostalgic?
Disney World vlogs, playing old video games from childhood, walking into a natatorium and smelling chlorine, those two summers I was teaching at an elementary school, any of those Buzzfeed posts about the early 2000s, occasionally watching old family videos and remembering the old houses we used to live in.
Thank you!!
