Linecook!Scott Miller — idea from this post by @glossykissies <3
his obsession was obvious — tired eyes steady on the sizzling pan in front of him, casual as ever even while you hounded him over a dish you’d eventually realize you forgot to put in. cursing under your breath and apologizing to the cook who seemed unbothered apart from the scolding glance in your direction.
he’d argue over it with anyone else, call them some mean name unapologetically and borderline torment them for the rest of the shift, prioritizing other orders just so their tables would stiff them, ignoring every qualm or complaint they’d run in with. it wasn’t like they could really do anything about it anyway. he’s organized, fast, calculated, all results of a well-seasoned history in the business of burns and cuts and smoke breaks. too good to find a replacement for even if he was an asshole.
in the same way he kept his station clean — focused mind evident by the knives sharp and gleaming, sleeves neat and rolled up under the contrasting apron littered with the marks of hard work — he held out a sort of reverence for you. whether it was letting fries cook for a few seconds too long to pass them off to you after an offhanded comment about ‘not having time for breakfast that morning’, or just the subtle reassurance that someone was listening to you, he was warm in his own ways.
𓆩♡𓆪
the cold air hitting your skin after standing and serving for hours felt like both much needed relief and a slap in the face. catching yourself not un-pleasantly surprised to see Scott taking a break himself, finding respite on an old milk crate, cloud of smoke drifting away from him as he looked over.
“bad day?”
“bad week.” you corrected, hesitating for a second before shaking your head when he held out his hand, cigarette held loosely between his middle and pointer. a gesture he wouldn’t think to share with anyone else, the same one you’d declined times before.
you smoothed yourself down the wall behind you, sitting on the cold concrete and listening to the slow, quiet breaths of the man across from you. it was easy to talk to him about shitty customers, easy to get pissed off at him over something you’d forget all about at the end of the night, easy to watch him cleaning up from the spot he reserved for you on the counter, and even easier to sit with him and say nothing at all.
you sighed when you checked your phone, the time telling you your break was just about over. you let your head fall back and watched as Scott stepped on the remnants of his peace and walked over to you, hand outstretched for you once again.
“hungry?”

Hi! I have a request, i hope it's not too specific or silly! How about an ace character that finds a fellow ace? Could be a villain that keeps flirting and when the hero tells them they don't want anything spicy villain is like 'Oh yeah no I'm ace too, just like teasing you :3'
Regardless of whether you answer or not, i hope you have a wonderful day!!
For better or for worse, the date they were on was rather pleasant.
It had been a trap the villain had prepared which was in retrospect a little bit too obvious. Their nemesis had lured the hero out of their messy apartment with a single note - a warning that quite a few hostages were waiting for them at one of the most expensive restaurants in town.
Without hesitation, the hero had rushed to the address but once the hero had opened the door, it was rather clear that no one was in danger. Instead, the hero got some judging looks from fancy folks when they had thrown open the door, panting.
The villain had looked rather amused when their gazes had met. It was the kind of embarrassment that burnt itself into the hero's brain. A memory that would pop up whenever they tried to fall asleep. It was so bad, in fact, that they considered turning on their heel and leave all together but the villain was too quick.
They raised a glass, their smile crooked.
And the hero felt obligated to walk up to them, now that curious looks were jumping from the hero to the villain.
"You could have told me to wear something nice," the hero hissed as they sat down.
"You look great in everything," the villain purred. Their eyes wandered up and down the hero. "Even in sweatpants."
"You flatter me."
"I'm stating a fact."
The hero took in a deep breath. Their heart was still banging against their rib cage violently. They lowered their voice.
"Why am I here?"
"Because you're gullible?" The villain swayed their wineglass in one hand.
"That's not what I mean."
"Because you're the city's sweet saviour who will always help the poor and innocent?" The hero didn't really know why the villain was toying with them like this. Clearly, there was an ulterior motive behind this. There always was.
Mostly, it was scheme after scheme with them. It was true that the hero was rather fond of them but they'd rather cut their arm off than admit that.
"You know I don't have much time on my hands," the hero said. "So whatever you want from me, make it quick."
For a moment, the villain didn't say anything and exactly that gave the hero enough time to truly look at them. Apparently, they had taken their sweet time to get ready for this date. The hero didn't know how to interpret that. Maybe it was the overall atmosphere of the restaurant or maybe the villain really cared about other's perception of them. The hero couldn't tell.
"I guess there is your answer. I thought it would be nice to spoil you a little," the villain said. "My little workaholic."
Oh, shit.
To say the hero started panicking internally was an understatement. They liked the villain, really liked them. Maybe even more than that.
And the villain seemed to have similar feelings for them.
The hero swallowed.
It had taken them quite a lot of bargaining, denial and a great deal of sadness to realise that they weren't interested in anything sexual. It had taken them a lot of time to come to terms with it. Back then, they had felt guilty for feeling the way they did. Often, they had wondered if there was something wrong with them. If it was just them who felt like this.
It was an almost obsessive fear of exclusion that had infiltrated their mind. It was exhauting to explain their own feelings over and over again and sometimes, they had even forced themselves to go beyond their boundaries.
On some nights, they had lain in bed awake, asking themselves if it was fair to be this way. To never be able to fully give back and love a partner that way. They had lost enough people they had been interested in romantically because of this. It was always the same stupid cycle. Always the same brainless questions that didn't help nor comfort them.
The hero was a different person now. They were much more confident but losing the villain that way wasn't only awkward, it was also a little heartbreak all over again.
"Listen..." the hero said. "I appreciate all of this. You're very sweet."
They dug their nails into their palms. Most people didn't understand. Most people said they were totally fine with it and still, they distanced themselves in the end. It used to make the hero angry but above all, it used to make them very sad.
"But, you know, I'm ace, so. Well, yeah, I...you probably know what that means but if you don't, uhm..."
Suddenly, something lit up behind the villain's eyes.
"Yeah?" The villain smiled. It wasn't a grin. It wasn't a smirk. It was a sweet, lovely smile.
"Huh?"
"You're ace?" they asked. Again, the hero swallowed. They looked down at the still empty dinner plate. It seemed like they had been in here for hours now, even though it had been mere minutes.
"...yeah."
"Me too," the villain said softly and the hero couldn't tell if this was some cruel joke or if this was a genuine gift from the universe. This meant no explaining, no stupid questions. No lost relationship, no arguments over this...For the first time in their life, they felt excited after coming out.
"What? Really? But the flirting and the-"
"I love messing with you, you know that," the villain said, winking. They took a sip of their wine. "And I meant what I said. You need to relax. You need someone to take care of you, even if that someone has to use some questionable methods to get you out of your apartment."
The hero stared at them, almost drunk on happiness.
"Thank you," the hero whispered.
"What a silly thing to say, darling," the villain responded.
Both would return to the restaurant several times after.
Hungry for more.

rúben blurb — #1
you can all thank dilara for rotting my brain with dad!ruben thoughts, also i think this singlehandedly cured my parents issues
you hated loosing your patience with your daughter, but tatiana drawing on her bedroom wall was your last straw after a long day of terrible news. you always felt awful for screaming at her, especially after the big brown eyes she got from her father welled up with tears.
you let her stay with rúben while you tried to distract yourself with grocery shopping. when you opened your front door still guilty about the whole screaming fit, your house was nothing like when you left it. it was now filled with laughter and a divine smell was luring you to the kitchen. but before you could take a step inside and find out the object of your craving, rúben's tall figure blocked the entry.
“no, no. you take a seat, i have a special chef cooking something for you.” he added a little wink, a silent ‘don't worry, i got this’. you sat down waiting for your little surprise, that revealed itself soon enough, in the shape of a lovely 6 year old girl covered in flour, her tiny hands full of a big plate of pancakes.
“i'm sorry mommy, i didn't want to make you mad.” her little voice, made you forget about every other trivial matters of today. you immediately took tati on your lap, and stroked her hair.
“i wasn't mad at you meu anjo (my angel), mommy just had a bad day. i shouldn't have screamed at you, i'm sorry tati.” you covered your daughter's face and hair of little kisses when rúben joined you two and placed a kiss on both your heads, before taking a seat next to you.
“did you cook these by yourself baby?” you asked to your daughter pointing at the perfect pancakes, she laughed a bit and shook her head.
“no daddy helped me, but i cracked the eggs myself!”
“did you now? i'm so proud of you my little chef, you might have to replace daddy soon.” you knew tatiana was over the moon with the little tasks that were handed to her, and you took the opportunity to tease your husband as well.
his large, flour covered, hand, squeezed your cheeks together, “i'll always be my girls' chef, but i can take a little rat under my hat.”

@prudensvulpes requested Sora with Dylan Hollis' energy where he has his own cooking channel! Thank you so much for your patience! And this was alot of fun to do! I used Dylan Hollis' "Fake Apple Pie" tiktok (shortened to certain moments and some moved around for comedic effect!). I hope you like it and thank you again :)!
And here's a bonus sketch because I couldn't resist drawing Sora's face lighting up the same way Dylan Hollis' does when a recipe is actually good!:

I'm sorry it's taken so long! And thank you for understanding and the request!#my art#my fanart#digital art#i've been having problems getting the image to not be blurry and nothing I do seems to work but I hope this one I uploaded reads ok!

Anyone can program (yes, even you)
"Programming is easy"
I saw some variations of this statement shared around the site recently, always in good intentions of course, but it got me thinking.
Is that really true?
Well it certainly isn't hard in the way some developers would want to make you believe. A great skill bestowed only upon the greatest of minds, they're the ones making the world work. You better be thankful.
That is just elitist gibberish. If anyone ever tells you that programmers are "special people" in that way, or tries to sell you on the idea of "real" programmers that are somehow better than the rest, you can safely walk in the other direction. They have nothing of value to tell you.
But I think the answer is more complicated than a simple "Yes, programming is easy" too. In all honesty, I don't think it's an easy thing to "just pick up" at all. It can be very unintuitive at first to wrap your head around just how to tell a computer to solve certain problems.
One person in the codeblr Discord server likened it to cooking. That's a skill that can be very hard, but it's also something that everyone can learn. Anyone can cook. And anyone can program.
I really mean that. No need to be good at maths, to know what a bit is or whatever it is people told you you need. You're not too old to learn it either, or too young for that matter. If you want to start programming (and you can read this post), you already have everything you need. You can write your first little programs today!
One of the cool things about programming is that you can just fuck around and try lots of stuff, and it's fine. Realistically, the worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't work the way you imagined. But you'll never accidentally trigger the fire alarm or burn your house down, so feel free to just try a bunch of stuff.
"Okay I want to learn programming now, what do I do?"
That's awesome, I love the enthusiasm! As much as I'd love to just give you a resource and tell you to build a thing, you still have to make a choice what you want to learn first. The options I'd recommend are:
Scratch: A visual education tool. The main advantage is that you don't have to worry about the exact words you need to write down, you can just think about the structure of your program. The way it works is that you drag and drop program elements to be executed when they should be. You can relatively quickly learn to make cute little games in it. The downside is that this isn't really a "professional" programming language, so, while learning from Scratch will give you the basics that apply to most languages and will make switching to another language easier, you're still gonna have to switch sooner or later. Start here: https://scratch.mit.edu/
Python: The classic choice. Python is a very widely used, flexible programming language that is suited for beginners. It is what I would recommend if you want to skip right to or move on from Scratch to a more flexible language. https://automatetheboringstuff.com/ is your starting point, but there's also a longer list of resources here if you want to check that out at some point.
HTML/CSS/JavaScript: The web path. HTML and CSS are for creating the look of websites, and JavaScript is for the interactive elements. For example, if you ever played a game in your browser, that was probably written in JS. Since HTML and CSS are just for defining how the website should look, they're different from traditional programming languages, and you won't be able to write programs in them, that's what JS is for. You have to know HTML before you learn CSS, but otherwise the order in which you learn these is up to you. Your JavaScript resource is https://javascript.info/, and for HTML and CSS you can check out https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/Getting_started_with_the_web.
I put some starting out resources here, but they're really just that - they're for starting out. You don't have to stick to them. If you find another path that suits you better, or if you want to get sidetracked with another resource or project, go for it! Your path doesn't have to be linear at all, and there's no "correct" way to learn things.
One of the most important things you'll want to do is talk to developers when you struggle. The journey is going to be frustrating at times, so search out beginner-friendly coding communities on Discord or wherever you're comfortable. The codeblr community certainly tends to be beginner-friendly and kind. My DMs and asks are also open on here.
#programming#is that a motherhecking RATATOUILLE reference??!?#codeblr#coding#the only reliable predictor of whether someone can be a good programmer is whether they have or can develop a passion for programming#how did me thinking “well is programming actually easy" turn into a resources post uhm#coding resources#shoutouts to the codeblr discord they're coo#long post#Most good programmers do programming not because they expect to get paid or get adulation by the public; but because it is fun to program#- Linus Torvalds

In the BitBC episode "A Splash of Fun", Strawberry and her friends go to cool off at a private pool party, but the man running it doesn't let them in, so Strawberry puts on a chef disguise with a french accent and pretends to be a caterer.
Once he's left to check on the desserts, Strawberry then switches out of her chef disguise, and for a brief moment you can see a rat on top of her head.
I didn't even notice my first time watching, but this was a reference to Pixar's Ratatouille.

What animals are every savior?
Ah, that's a peculiar question anon. I will admit it's a bit fun to ponder about now that you've got me thinking about it.
Let me see now... from what I've seen, Stardust is a Fennec Fox no doubt, Plumdrop is a timid Bunny Rabbit, Sunlight strikes me as some breed of Cat (try and guess as to why), Gemstone is some smart bird like a Crow I want to say, and for Little Chef they strike me as - and I mean this as positively as I can - a little rat working with foods of all sorts to craft them and their friends culinary masterpieces.
I hope those answers sufficed your inquiry enough, anon.

i've watched only a few scenes of the movie WALL-E and i hate it so much 😮💨 and i also dislike all the Pixar movies released after that one. they really peaked with Ratatouille in my eyes
#i said in my eyes!!#they had a slight renaissance with Toy Story 3 but then they continued making only flops#i dislike UP too! so much 🚬#and Coco is good but not that good. there's something about it that annoys me lol#haven't watched Elemental but just thinking about it i feel second-hand embarrassment#i know all these movies were a lot of work but i must have extremely high standards when it comes to Pixar / Disney#because if anything there's BUDGET#anyway i love Ratatouille so much🥹 the other day i watched Everything Everywhere All at Once and the Ratatouille reference made me so happy#also i've been rewatching The Simpsons (still in the 90s seasons so all bangers) and i keep seeing Brad Bird in the credits. his mind#anyway it's not nostalgia cause Toy Story is probably THE animated movie of america (after Shrek)#you have to look no further than Finding Nemo vs Finding Dory... the difference is appalling#my sister was watching Coco again so that's why i'm talking shit. apologies#📓
