Remember when Splinter fought and defeated the Rat King in season 2?

I thought of this the other day, but on a technicality Splinter defeating him in a way can be looked at as him dethroning the king of the rats. So… 

Wouldn’t that technically make Splinter the new Rat King???

It's amazing that all it takes to make an absolutely perfect character design is to make a rodent wear red. Give that mouse a ruby cloak. Give that rat a vermillion hat. Presto. Nothing can top that. This is a fact. How many rodents do you know that wear red?

I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been think about this yesterday, I feel like the rat that Lou Jitsu had with him might be the boys long lost brother. He may also be the Rat King too.

The reason is because of 2003 tmnt, in the series Hamato Yoshi trained an ordinary rat later became a mutant rat. Splinter always love Yoshi as a father and a master. It would make sense that the Rise boys will have a rat brother. He was there when his dad was in the battle Nexus as well when he was captured. So he more likely mutanted in the same ooze that mutated his siblings. Which makes him biologically Splinter’s son. There’s a possibility that he bit Lou Jitsu out of jealousy because he loved his turtle siblings more than him and will later become the Rat King.

That’s my theory, but what do you think?

Flashback Episode synopsis:

[Takes place 3 years post-movie]

After hearing a loud ringing throughout the week, Splinter decided to find the source of the noise by heading deep into the sewers. His own sons and even Draxum don’t see anything wrong with the father or his ears, and can’t hear anything themselves, so Splinter took it upon himself to figure this out.

Eventually he is led to a scientist’s secret hideout. The scientist is ecstatic upon seeing Splinter, and welcomes him in. He gives Splinter food, TV, and an ear to chat off too. The guy is seemingly a little coo-coo, but is alright. Then his true colors shine once he realizes his rat controller semi-works on the giant one too.

Leo and Bishop work together to figure out a rat crisis going on, where vendors and businesses, even TCRI and Donnie, would get overrun and items stolen by a swarm of rats. They attempt to follow the rats back to their ‘home base’.

Later on, Rey Rata ties up Splinter to a lab table to experiment on him and is stopped by Leo and Bishop. Rey Rata attempts to get Splinter to be his puppet but Bishop destroys his machine.

Happy Holidays everyone, and now a production of the Nutcracker with Splinter as the Rat King and the turtles being supportive sons. Can't believe I did this in one night, woof! Nutcracker holds a special place in my heart, so when I get to have fun with it, I will take the chance to do so!

What are your thoughts on the Rat King (like, his character in general and how he could've been used in Rise, since they wanted psychological horror stuff and Splinter is a rat and all that jazz)? Thank you

Oh Rat King is SUCH a good character and imo, his 2012 character is one of the best TMNT villains period. 2012 Splinters arc with him was amazingly and genuinely well written.

I wouldve loved to see him in Rise. Tbh, I think using the Rat King character wouldve been an excellent way for Splinter to face the fact that he ran away from his clan. Maybe the Rat King could've been like, a mystical manifestation of his guilt that haunted him.

YEAH like.... maybe somehow hes cursed, and the mystic powers create this rat spirit thats a manifestation of his guilt from running away from his clan and abandoning his family. He would have to fight this Rat King but would have to face his past in order to do it. The Rat King could get a mind of his own and demand that Splinter keeps running away and never returns.

Idk. This is all me coming up with ideas on the spot but I think i have something here!!
