In a thrilling showdown for the middleweight title at UFC 297, Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis delivered an epic battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final horn. The intensity of the bout left Du Plessis with a nearly swollen-shut eye, and Strickland with blood dripping down his face. Contrary to expectations, the judges were called upon to render a decision in the main event.

Not a troll, genuine question: I thought Johnny Depp was good? Like all his wife's allegations against him were fake? Did he do other things?
no, no, he definitely is not... her allegations against him were that he's lying when he says she "defamed" him by writing an article in Washington Post about having been a victim of domestic & sexual assault. but she didn't even use his name ONCE in the article, plus she didn't say anything untrue and this is corroborated by an UK court who found Depp guilty of 12 out of 14 counts of abuse against Amber in 2020 when he sued The Sun for calling him a wifebeater. basically it was proven that he is one. some instances of this:
- in 2014 Amber was shooting a movie with James Franco, Depp got jealous, taunted and kicked her; proven by texts from his assistant to Amber he sent afterwards talking about how sorry Depp is for doing this to her
- in March 2015 they both were in Austrialia where Amber allegedly threw a bottle at Depp and the bottle sliced his finger off; but he also texted his doctor about slicing his own finger off later ("I cut the top of my middle finger off") + he admitted this in an audio
- in December 2015 he dragged her by her hair, slapped, head butted, punched; proven by the pictures of injuries she took + their marriage consuelor saw the pictures and the injuries in person (he admits to headbutting her in one audio)
- in 2016 he trashed their condo and again assaulted her, and there are pictures of the trashed condo, Isaac Baruch for one saw the condo and testified about it (even thought he was one of the pro-Depp witnesses)
- their neighbour (Raquel Pennington) testifies that she saw Amber cowering in fear before Depp during one of their fights and she covered Amber with her own body to protect her. when he attacked Amber, she was on the phone with her friend, causing the friend to call 911. Amber texted a nurse about that and a medical report confirms the injury. that's when she decided to file for the divorce.
there's more, but these are the ones there is evidence for. but based on what we know about Johnny as a person I believe Amber about all the counts of abuse she cited (including the rape allegation). he's a raging misogynist (for example he texted Paul Bettany that he wants to drown Amber, burn her corpse and then rape it, tried to submit Amber's nudes and proof of her working as a stripped for some reason, threw a bottle at his ex, Ellen Barkin), an addict, an alcoholic, he's pathologically jealous (confirmed by almost all his ex girlfriends/wives), prone to turning violent and throwing things or assaulting others.
he also lied about Amber abusing him, as in he tried to paint her as the perpetrator all while this is what you can find in the unsealed documents: "Depp’s team shielded him from undergoing a psychiatric evaluation on grounds that he “does not allege a specific cause of action for intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress; does not assert that Ms. Heard’s actions caused him a specific psychiatric injury; and does not claim that Ms. Heard’s actions caused him to experience unusually severe emotional distress.”". then he sat in the courtroom acting like he's traumatized by all the abuse he suffered from her, a not well known actress half his age back when they were dating. he was also so traumatized and scared of her that he started walking up to her as she was leaving the courtroom, causing her to take a step back out of fear and then he just turned around while laughing at her. demonic behavior!
for more I really recommend this timeline of their relationship and @justiceamberheard 's masterpost of the court proceedings summary (with links, so you can verify and see for yourself)!!

I love to see a Women Win
Tumblr media
(Amanda Nunes)
September 19, 2024 Rookie's Playbook
I’m back at it again deep diving into things I have no concept of, and today it’s the world of the UFC!  I like for my first read-through something to be an explanation of sorts so I can try and figure out exactly what is happening, and today I'm diving into the beauty of women champions.
From my understanding there are four types of championships, there is feather-weight, bantam-weight, fly-weight, and straw-weight.  I’m not gonna lie, half of these to me sound like the same thing with AI generated names.  After doing further research it all depends on the weight of the fighter, which when I was younger used to confuse the hell out of me because I thought it was so rude to segregate people into weight categories, now however I know it’s so you don’t get absolutely murdered.
Feather-weight(126 pounds) has no current champion, but they do have three past champions.  Amanda Nunes won in 2018 with two defenses and a TKO of 1 over her opponent Cris Cyborg.  I’m not going to sit here and lie to you either if my last name was Cyborg no one could talk to me. That is such badass.  The only knowledge I have of a TKO(Total Knockout) is when executed the fighter is left unable to complete the fight, so that is insanely hardcore to me.  Currently, the brazilian fighter has insane stats ranging from 13-2 TKO, SUB 4-2, and W-L-D 23-5-0.  Now, again I will not lie to you I only know what the TKO is.
Sub is when a fighter ‘taps out’, yielding to their opponent so that they win.  So, that takes the badass levels down some, but hey who knows this could actually be the lowest for someone and she is the dominant woman to have ever lived.  Then the W-L-D is win, loss, or draw.  The thing that I'm getting at for Nunes is that she doesn’t believe in draws and eats up her opponent every time, 23 wins! Insane!
Now that I know the terms let's move onto bantamweight, which is the 135 pound limit.  The current champion for this category is Raquel Pennington, with an outcome of a UD over Mayra Bueno Silva.  Now comes my next question, the hell is a UD? This is a term I have heard of and often yell out when I want to look knowledgeable, it means unanimous decision.  This is when all the judges are in agreement of which fighter is the winner, so good for Miss Pennington!
Pennington’s stats are W-L-D 16-9-0, TKO 1-1, and sub is 1-1, not bad but not my new favorite fighter Amanda Nunes good.
Women’s flyweight is next on our list and their poundage (?) is 125.  I’m going to be honest, with all the searching and rules about the fighters weight is insane to me, what is a one pound difference in the grand scheme of it all you know? Anyway, the current champion of this category is Valentina Shevchenko who won in a unanimous decision against Alexas Grasso! Look at me knowing my terms, this is what we call development guys.   Shevchenko’s stats are W-L-D 24-4-1, TKO 8-1, and Sub 7-1.  I’m gonna be honest, Miss Nunes has my heart, but Schevchenko scares the shit outta me the most.
The final category is straw-weight and the weight is 115 pounds, again the names just all seem too similar for my taste and I find them very much confusing but non the less I digress.  The current champion is the lady with the best cheekbones I have ever seen Zhang Weili who won against Carla Esparza with a Sub2.  Her stats rival Nunes to me with a W-L-D 25-3-0, TKO 11-1, and Sub 8-0.  She is a Chinese fighter whose career I feel I will be following closely.
After all that research I can confirm that this is the most intriguing of the sports I have covered so far, and I simply cannot wait to learn more about it.

Raquel Pennington wins godawful fight with Mayra Bueno Silva.
Well, that was shit. I didn't expect Bueno SIlva to have a gas tank for 5 rounds of fighting so I was really hoping this one would end early. Rocky could have knocked Bueno Silva out in like the third round but for whatever reason decided she was going to continue cage wrestling MBS for the last two rounds to a decision win. I don't really know what MBS was doing. For someone who was comfortable stepping into the pocket with Holm, she had 0 desire to throw any strikes that weren't in the clinch. Straight tired herself out chasing bad takedowns and losing clinch exchanges along the fence. For all of Pennington's limitations, cage wrestling has never been one of them. In fact, she has out wrestled every credentialed wrestler women's bantamweight has ever had (Tate, Vieira, and McMann).
Props to Rocky for winning the title but that was definitely not the fight you want to do it.

HORROR cut stops UFC 303 fight as brutal elbow leaves fighter with gaping gash down to the BONE
MAYRA BUENO SILVA was left with a horror movie-esque cut on her head thanks to a vicious elbow from opponent Macy Chiasson. The recent women’s bantamweight title challenger threw down Chiasson on a stacked UFC 303 card in Las Vegas. 5 Mayra Bueno Silva threw down with Macy Chiasson on the UFC 303 main cardCredit: GETTY 5 The Brazilian was on the receiving end of some nasty ground and pound in the second roundCredit: GETTY 5 A perfectly placed elbow from Chiasson opened up a cut above the right eye of SilvaCredit: Getty 5 The cageside doctor called off the fight after seeing the severity of her woundCredit: UFC Bueno Silva looked to bounce back from her January defeat to current champion Raquel Pennington. But she ended up suffering a second straight loss thanks to a perfectly placed elbow from Chiasson in the second round. Chiasson landed a sickening blow when she was in the Brazilian’s full guard. Blood immediately began to pour from Bueno Silva’s head, although the severity of the gash wasn’t evident until she returned to her feet. Referee Chris Tognoni immediately called for the cageside doctor to inspect the laceration. And after hearing the physician say the wound was “down to the bone”, Tognoni immediately waved off the contest. Pockets of fans in the arena booed his decision to call off the fight, although they soon retracted them after seeing how deep the cut was. MMA fans were taken aback by the cut, with one writing on social media: “Brutal.” BEST FREE BET SIGN UP OFFERS FOR UK BOOKMAKERS 5 Mayra Bueno Silva protested he stoppage but it was the right callCredit: GETTY Another said: “She had zero chance after that cut. A good stoppage.” And another said: “Gawd damn.” New dates for Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler revealed after UFC 303 fight axed One remarked: “Imagine landing more punches there? Good call by the referee. Another chimed in: “Almost a Marvin Eastman calibre depth of cut.” Victory over Bueno Silva was Chiasson’s second on the bounce since her 2022 defeat to Irene Aldana.
