I’m loving Rap Sh!t on HBOMAX!! But I can’t lie the actress that play Shawna is hit it or mess with me acting wise. She definitely needs more training. The actress that plays Mia is really good but she needs to spread out her energy more. The actress that plays the Duke? Oh I’m a fan!!! So far loving everything about her character and acting wise? From the the little I’ve seen (only 3 episodes out so far) GREAT acting choices being made! The rest of the cast is hit or mess both acting and writing wise imo

Issa Rae Talks About 'Rap Sh*t' Series & It's Inspiration

Issa Rae Talks About Her 'Rap Sh*t' Series & that It Was Inspired by Jermaine Dupri's Criticism of Women MCs Issa Rae has revealed the surprising inspiration behind her Rap Sh*t comedy series. In her new cover story for Rolling Stones; the entertainment multi-hyphenate confirmed she began writing the show in response to Jermaine Dupri ’s controversial comments about women MC's. Durpi faced widespread backlash in 2019; when he suggested the new wave of female rappers were indistinguishable and unworthy of a hip-hop crown. “I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper,” he told People TV. “For me, it’s like strippers rapping. And as far as rap goes, I’m not getting who’s the best rapper. I’m getting like, ‘OK, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story about you dancing in the club?’ It’s like, ‘OK, who’s going to be the rapper?’ At some point, somebody’s going to have to break out of that mold & just show us⁠. Talk about other things, just rap about other things besides that.” Like many others, Rae wasn’t thrilled with Dupri’s assessment, which is why she decided to create Rap Sh*t; an upcoming scripted series about two childhood friends trying to get in the rap game. The show is said to be loosely based on the lives of City Girls’ Yung Miami & JT; who will also serve as co-executive producers. “I was just like, ‘This is so unfair,’” Rae said about Durpi’s comments. “So that inspired the writing of it.” Rap Sh*t received an eight-episode order from HBO Max, and is expected to begin production this summer. RapSh!t honestly the fact that it takes place in Miami had me biased.(also RJ Cyler) I love it- fried conch

Prey on HULU- listen at first I thought it was going to be about the video game(which I do hope becomes a movie ) then I saw it was a prequel for my top 3 favorite film franchise I watched some of it in Comanche (super historic and I hope the film ushers in a wave of Native American films/actors) I should make another post about it. I remember saying Predator is like James Bond: you know the martini is coming but you’re along for the ride!
