Paris Special Thoughts
Alright, I've seen the new special and will be giving my thoughts. Minor/major spoilers ahead so, be warned.
I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. Truly. But! I will preface this with this:
THIS IS NOT AN ANTI-VERSE CASE
I'm sure a good portion of us were expecting this, but this is far from the case. This is just like any AU and I loved it! It was different, it was great, I loved the world-building, the characterizations of Shady and Claw, everything. Even the emotional resolution felt earned. Shady seeing Marinette's diary and Claw venting his frustrations. It just felt, well, right. Even Shady and Claw's troubles felt real to me seeing these sort of issues in teens given the line of work I'm involved in. I can see their motivations for what they are, why their trauma would lead them to their decisions, and more.
I also appreciated the explanation of Tikki in the beginning when questioned about the multiple universes. I thought I would be annoyed that they were just now addressing it, but nah, it was good.
I also really loved the ending snippet where Monarch attempted to visit different universes and I absolutely adored the different AUs. The Mister Bug and Lady Noire, Scarabella and Kitty Noire, the comic book, and especially the anime one. It was fun and was just really nice.
Overall, I loved it. Claw was unhinged, but just as much a dork as Chat. The Bugs are amazing. Hesperia, I mean, Betterfly snickers was great. I loved his origin, world, situation, everything. I also love how it's implied that Emilie died in the line of action for a better world and fuck it was good. If anyone writes out that world, send me a link. I would be very interested in reading it.
Good special, good time, highly recommend.

I've just finished watching Damsel on Netflix and it's good! Like it is exactly what the trailer shows you - a Princess marries what she thinks is Prince Charming only to be used as a ritual sacrifice.
But it's not an unrealistic version of it with a Mary Sue and 2D characters. It's not easy for Elodie or painless, she certainly doesn't do it without help. Everyone else in it are actual people with selfish reasons for doing things and fallible.
It's not award winning or really trying to be anything other than what it is but it's good and the actors in it are amazing. Shohreh Aghdashloo plays the dragon in it! Her voice gives me shivers

you know the more i think about this yassified scrooge business, the more i yearn for the 2009 version.
yes the mocap is weird, yes its a bit ... edgy (would need a rewatch though for a real opinion, its been a while) BUT MAN
youtube
that is a WRINKLY and EXPRESSIVE old man! Its worth seeing him actually SMILE at the end. He looks genuinely adorable here!!
(also this is one of my favourite cratchits .. please notice that he doesnt say ONE WORD. the little almost stumble he does, he looks like he's about to fall over?! 😭❤️ )
and not to mention, it has THE. BEST. SCENE.
youtube
it forces Scrooge to look DIRECTLY into the anguish on Bob's face, and they're both just EMOTING their little hearts out.
#give it a watch#ill definitely need a rewatch to cleanse myself of scrog 2022#a christmas carol 2009#Youtube

CARRIER
Filmed in 2005, CARRIER is a 10-part series filmed aboard the USS Nimitz. CARRIER is a character-driven immersion in the high- stakes world of a nuclear aircraft carrier. The episodes follow a core group of characters as they navigate their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love, the rites of passage and the war on terror.
youtube
The show does not focus only on the pilots and aircraft aboard the carrier, but it is an amazing look at the good, the bad, and the worse. The pilots are reoccurring but the main episode featuring carrier operations related to the aircraft can be viewed on Episode 7: Rites of Passage. To be blunt, I can only describe the show as ugly. The good times shown on the show are incredibly good, but overall it makes me sad. It feels like I’m watching an incredibly beautiful travesty. The show covers the stuff that you might not want to know about and it definitely is a reality check to what people go through to protect our country for us.
Regardless of your opinions of the military or any of the conflicts we have participated in (trust me when I say they don’t shy away from such topics) the show is worth a watch. I take comfort knowing that the truth always likes somewhere in the middle and I suggest you watch with the same mindset.
It’s not an easy watch, it’s not something I became obsessed with, but it’s still enthralling. If you watch any, I recommend Rite of Passage as it covers aviation more than some of the other episodes. Additionally, fans of the Fighter Pilot Podcast may recognize the familiar voice of Vincent “Jell-O” Aiello as one of the pilots on the show. He’s not featured often, but he does make an occasional appearance!
Watch the entire show FOR FREE at Archive.org(see link below).
NOTE!!!!!!!! The order of the episodes on the website are wrong!!!! Episode 10 is slotted after episode 1 so don’t make the mistake I did of watching them out of order!!!!

My next review of Shoujo Cosette will the final one tomorrow night
I only have 5 episodes left to watch. It's been quite a roller coaster ride but a wonderful one all the same.
So I'm not going to give any clues as to what happens but from what I do know of the canon post barricade story things in this series are different. I'm not going to say how or what happens because I know sme people probably haven't watched it yet.
But you do need to bear in mind that this series was made for kids and teenagers though I personally wouldn't let anyone below secondary school age watch it purely because of the revolutionary side of things and the bullying/abuse endured by Cosette at the hands of the Thenardier's. While it's definately not as bad as how bullying and abuse has been protrayed in other films/tv shows I've watched over the years it still could be upsetting for children younger than 11-12 years old.
That being said I highly recommend it. The story, despite the changes, which aren't shockingly drastic but do fit in with the canon story, really is beautifully told.

I’ve been watching a bunch of Reeves and Mortimer recently and got recommended this Omnibus episode and a few things stood out:
1. I miss when there were shows that critically looked at art on terrestrial TV
2. This is a fantastic time capsule of British comedy culture for better and worse
3. Reeves and Mortimer really are so silly and were really ahead of their time in a lot of ways… but also incredibly dated in other ways
4. I love how this film is done so seriously but with odd bits of the absurdism coming in

Reviews while I watch UniteUp!: Episode 12 Finale
Oh my word. I can’t believe this is coming to an end. This show was honestly so fun and probably my favourite idol anime that I’ve watched so far. Let’s get into this final episode.
They be nervous for the first live performance.
I like the calmness and the buildup of the opening. How all the groups have developed and now come together because if it.
That is a huge stadium.
Oooo. Is Anela performing?
Ahhhhhhh. Anela is performing!!! Yeee. Favourite group.
This final episode is just going to be a bunch of performances and I love it.
Those two are great.
And dealing with the backlash as well. Nice. And they’re carrying on the performance! Yay!
Daiki cries. Shame man.
And they jump out the stage. That was great.
Completely different style of music.
Man just yeeted the mic.
Once again. Different style of music.
Ooo. Blue hair has nice solo.
And onto Protostar. They get such a pretty opening.
News flash? Ohhh. That’s so sweet.
Protostar reminds me the most of the bands in idol anime. Their music that is.
Now Akira cries.
Different bands with different gloves. Noice attention to detail.
Annnnnnd the opening song is the final song. Common trope but I still love it.
Aw. A heart from the audience.
And the typical chaos that all of them bring in the aftermath. It’s perfect.
Gay.
And he is very drunk.
Oh god. He is scary as all hell.
Nice atmosphere. They kept in a slight echo for the open auditorium.
The three of them are so cute. I really want to see more of the different groups.
----final thoughts----
By god, that was a fun one. I never knew idol animes could be done so well. Everything felt so authentic - even the drama. All the characters felt real and motivated which can be such a challenge with such a diverse cast. I absolutely loved this anime and I really hope we get to see more of these dorks.
I can highly recommend this show and wish to give it an 8.8/10.

An episode of a british medical drama that Oliver was in called Casualty. It was interesting but also kind of infuriating. Not only because Oliver played a bit of an idiot, but also because of some of the other things that went down; like a paramedic telling the 911 dispatcher not to send them out on a a call while they were on break?! I was a little appalled and I was pretty much yelling at my screen the whole time 😅

wonderful video on the subject by fellow tumblr resident @strange-aeons
It’s come to my attention that some people are traversing the interwebs of fandom without ever hearing of the Ms. Scribe Story or the Cassandra Claire Debacle.
At surface level, this is concerning because they are awesome stories, and everyone’s life is made a little better when they find an awesome story.
On more serious levels, fandom is a wacky place, full of people doing wacky, occasionally damaging things to each other. Some of that has evolved, but some of it is the same as it ever was. History rocks because you can learn from the mistakes of others, and maybe hurt people a little less in the future. Fandom being a giant, convoluted web of passion, some history that could use sharing goes missed.
The two stories linked are from early 2000s Harry Potter fandom. The Ms. Scribe Story is a tale of one person’s aggressive use of sockpuppets to work their way up fandom hierarchy. The Cassandra Claire Debacle is about how the top name in that fandom hierarchy is a plagiarist.
They’re prime examples of fandom being fandom in intensely negative ways. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brand of fandom toxicity that isn’t on display in some way within these write-ups, and while that is admittedly sort of depressing, having things to point at that make you stop and think, “Wait, I’ve seen this before, this is not a thing I want to be part of,” can keep you out of some of the deeper fandom pitfalls.
They are also deeply fascinating reads. If you haven’t explored them before, or only know the summary versions, give them a shot.
