I've been thinking about this for a long time, but it's so fucking funny to me how Halt is the guy that everyone is like "yeah he can stay calm, he's always in control and has great patience when it comes to certain things, he's has great control over his emotions" but at the same time that guy has has bet up more than one teenage apprentice in the span of two books, thrown two guys out a window in the span of one book, made Will sleep outside in the cold, not even in the ground but in a fucking tree for singing a song and having a bit of whimsy in his life, threw a guy off his horse by putting his bowstring around his neck, knocking him out (and then wanted to punch him again when he woke up) for being a bit of a dick, and at one point in The Emporer of Nihon-Ja, Will was sure Halt was gonna deck a dude or something along those lines for knocking his hood back off his face. And thats just the stuff actually in the books, there's probably way more we don't know about.

I'm trying to think of any more shit he's done now.

It's just funny how he can apparently be the most calm and in control man but also get super easily pissed off and ready to kill in an instant at the same time.

How I think the different RA characters act when drunk

A drunk Crowley sits in an armchair, unable to hold the weight of his head, and tries to work.

A drunk Will is a clingy Will.

A drunk Halt smiles a lot, but only at inappropriate times.

A drunk Horace is 80% slower at processing words.

A drunk Cassie sleeps in positions that make people think she's dead.

A drunk Duncan is a rare sight; he stops drinking before the point of drunkeness is reached.

A drunk Alyss speaks exclusively in governmental language.

A drunk Pauline acts like a sober Pauline; alcohol seems to be unable to affect her. It does, but it doesn't seem so.

A drunk Jenny is surprisingly good at fighting.

A drunk Gilan is surprisingly bad at fighting; his other senses are as sharp as ever though.

A drunk Arald is calm and composed, alarmingly so.

You know what I love and find powerful about this scene?

In the previous chapters Halt was trying to give moral Will by saying 'Maybe I'll be better in the morning when I wake up' like that even though he said Will the truth about himselfs posibilty death.He didn't tell or share with either Horace or Will that he actually thought he was definitely going to die and he couldn't do it he didn't bother and upset with hes thought either of them.

But when it's Crowley,he doesn't hide it anymore.He can be able to comfortably freely share directly what he is thinking, feeling or worrying about or whatever it is that he has come to terms with.

And he literally entrusts his son to his brother.

Love how Will and Horace’s relationship went from insults and physical fights, to friends who would lay down their lives for each other, to friends who insult each other. Perfect progression.
