When I made "Lunar" someone asked for a legacy challenge for human sims. So I finally wrote one!
Since some people don't like big legacies because it takes forever to finish, I made another small legacy! Only 5 gens.
If you know my stories from twitter or my "pamsimmerstories" you know I usually use a lot of adult themes and this is not different, so be aware this can be a little dark.
TW: Spouse death, while giving birth; Drug Use, alcohol and other drugs; Child Abuse, Neglect; Infetility
LEGACY CHALLENGE: "Dream Odyssey"
Basic Rules:
Start as a Young Adult - any gender you want
Normal/Long lifespan (which one you prefer)
You can use freerealestate cheat if you want to begin.
When I put ( / ) is because you can choose what you prefer or if you don’t have said pack you can choose the base game one.
Colors are not mandatory, but it could be fun?!
Requirements: Cottage Living, University, City Living, Nifty Knitting, Horse Ranch, Get Famous, Get Together, Snowy Scape, Island Living, Seasons, Parenthood.
Mods recommendations (Not required):
McCommand Center,
UI Cheats,
Long Distance Learning,
RPO.
Basemantal Drugs
Generation 1: “Dandelions” by Ruth B.
You moved from your parents to live in a big city and go to your dream college (San Myshuno Institute)*. You’ve always wanted to be a doctor/veterinarian and this was finally happening!
One day you met the love of your life in between classes (preferably someone you met that is also at uni) you get married, but one day you caught them cheating and you feel like this is the end of the world.
So you leave everything and go to Henford on Bagley and become a farmer. You meet someone that makes you open up again and you two have a beautiful family.
*if you don’t want to use mods like the ”Long Distance Learning” by Ravasheen, you can just pretend you’re going there living in San Myshuno
Traits: Good, Animal Enthusiast/Loves the Outdoors, The last one you pick, to make things interesting, pick a bad trait like high maintenance
Career: Start as University Student in San Myshuno (you can finish it and start the career or you can just drop university in the middle of your term); End up as a farmer in Henford
Skills: Logic/Vetenerian and Cross-Stitch
Hobby: Cross-Stitch or Knitting
Aspiration: Country Caretaker
Relationship: fall in love at university, get cheated on, runaway to Henford and meet someone new. You can have children with the first one if you want to or you can wait until you meet the second sim. It’s up to you.
Color: Green/Yellow
Generation 2: “High” by Miley Cyrus
You grew up in the middle of a bunch of animals, your parent was a nature freak and you became one as well. But your kind of animal is a bit different from your parent. You love horses and you dream in live at Chestnut Ridge and have your own horse and participate in competitions and earn money from it.
You find love, but when your wife is giving birth to your baby, she dies (your sim could be a woman and you use cheats to make her pregnant and if you don’t use mods as RPO/Pandasama you can also cheat to kill the sim).
[The Sims 4 killing cheats: [death.toggle true - kill your Sim] I've never used it, so I don't know if it really works]
So you see yourself as a single parent juggling between parenting and taking care of your horse and participating of competitions.
Traits: Horse Lover, Rancher, the last trait you choose.
Career: Autonomous as Horse Competitor, you can try odd jobs as well
Skills: Riding, Painting/Nectar Making
Hobby: Painting/Nectar Making
Aspiration: Championship Rider
Relationship: Meet someone, become a widow/er. You can find love again if you wish.
Color: Orange
Generation 3: “No Love In LA” by Palaye Royale
When you were born your mother died and you never met her. Your other parent was always busy with his horses and competitions that you now hate Chestnut.
You want more for your life. As soon as you age up, you go to Del Sol Valley and you’re finally able to follow your dream of becoming a star! You want to be a famous actor/actress. But not everything is like you thought it would be, you thought you would become a 5 star celebrity quickier than you did. But you never give up.
Find a celebrity and get married to them just for fame (I guess you’re gonna need cheats for them to meet).
[Modify Relationship
You'll need the full name of your Sim and the celebrity Sim (or vice versa). If it doesn't work, try " LTR_Friendship_Main" at the end.] (I also never tested this one...but in case you don't have mods, try this)
One day you’re gonna meet someone who’s a nobody and fall in love, you’re gonna cheat on your partner and get pregnant/get someone pregnant.
You have two choices:
leave your spouse and be with your love or
stay in a unhappy marriage and pretend the cheating never happened (if your sim is a male, never talk to the pregnant sim again and one day a child shows up at your door, this is gonna be the heir. And if your sims is a female, pretend the kid is your husband’s child. It doesn’t matter, you’re gonna fail as a parent no matter what).
Traits: Self-Assured, Ambitious, and a bad trait of your choosing
Career: Actor
Skills: Acting, Dancing, Photography
Hobby: Photography and also dancing, go to nightclubs often, drink a lot (if you don’t play with mods pretend your sims is an alcoholic, if you play with mods like basemental your sim is definitely an alcoholic and maybe had a drug addiction, let’s go dark here)
Aspiration: Master Actor
Relationship: Marry for fame and cheat on your partner and get pregnant of impregnate someone this is how your heir is gonna be made.
Color: Red
Generation 4: “Flares” by The Script
Your parent should never be a parent.
You grew up in a spolight because of your parent, but you hate it. Everything is so fucked up and you just want to run away as far as possible.
When you become a teen, you're going to run away from home and go to Mt Komorebi, drop from school and work in a part time job.
To scape your own mind you start a few hobbies such as snowboarding/skiing/climbing.
When you’re young adult you meet someone while doing one of those things and you two fall in love. You two start a family and are very happy.
Traits: Adventurous, Loner, and a trait of your preference
Career: Teen: Part Time Job; Young Adult: Salaryperson
Skills: Two of these: (You can choose: Snowboarding/Skiing/Climbing)
Hobby: Choose two from 3 (Snowboarding/Skiing/Climbing)
Aspiration: Extreme Sports Enthusiast
Relationship: Find love when your sim is a young adult and this sim is gonna be actually happy :)
Color: Grey
Generation 5: “Light” by Sleeping At Last
Your parents were loving and you loved Mt Komorebi, but you feel like you need to run away from the cold mountains of Mt Komorebi.
When you grow up you want to live in a summery place, so you choose Sulani.
You fall in love more than once, but your relationships never work. You’re also infertile, but you want a kid so baaaad, so you decide to adopt one after years of trying.
You're going to raise a kid alone, maybe get yourself a dog as well? You want to be the best parent someone could be.
Traits: Family Oriented, Child of the Ocean, and a third trait of your choosing
Career: Any of the freelancer careers
Skills: Parenting, Flower Arrenging/Singing
Hobby: Flower Arrenging/Singing
Aspiration: Superparent
Relationship: All your relationships will fail, no matter how hard you try. One day you finally realize it and just accept that you’re going to be alone and you can be happy like this. Then you adopt a child (could be a baby if you want to) and maybe a pet as well.
Color: Blue

Recently been binging the whole of the MLPFIM series after realizing that as a kid, I only watched up to S4A because I hated where the series was going, and despised Twilight being an alicorn + The School of Friendship, which goes against the message of the entire show.
With that, I made my own mane six 'reimagine' sheet and AU. I stuck to the original designs as close as I could, except for Fluttershy's lmao. These designs really just enhance the previous designs, as I wanted to toy with their silhouettes and the characteristics they had in the show, and to make designs more appealing to look at, albeit horrible to animate lol
Read More on the AU + Design Thoughts below :)
Twilight Sparkle - A gifted unicorn with ancient heritage. She spends most of her time studying, and fixating on various books, topics, and magic itself. She is the top student in her school, and hopes to get a degree in Magic, and later become a Magic Professor. In this AU, while she studies under Celestia, she is not her protege. Celestia, worried over her favorite student, sends her to a day trip to look over the Summer Sun Celebration, where she meets her future friends show-style. Her design is heavily inspired by The Last Unicorn, and medieval portrayals of regal, feathered unicorns.
Pinkie Pie - A super duper party pony who takes her job very seriously. She works at Sugarcube Corner as a part-time party planner, part-time baker, and is well loved by Ponyville's townies. Before Twilight coming to Ponyville, and later moving in, she knew the other four quite well, and enjoyed organizing Applejack's family reunions. For her design, I really wanted to lean in on her chaotic nature by adding more colors, and confetti perpetually stuck in her curly mane. At first, I thought of changing her species into a pegasus, but I enjoyed her magical properties as an Earth Pony too much to remove them. Instead, I headcanon that she, and other Earth Ponies have magic inside of them, which can be manifested in different ways. For Pinkie, that is harnessed through Pinkie Sense, and high energy, only being enhanced by her small size.
Applejack - Rancher, and apple farmer, Applejack is the head of Sweet Apple Acres (with Granny Smith and Big Mac/ Orchard Blossom's help). The business is the foundation of Ponyville, and without it, the town would go into economic despair. Apples are very important to horses, I guess. I wanted Applejack's design to reflect her massive strength, and of course, the Apple-Family genes. She is a work horse, either a shire or clydesdale, and is used to hard labor on the farm. Thinking about it now, I should've given her a few healed scars, but maybe in future art of her! I made her mane and tail shorter, as I thought her in-show counterpart would have a tough time working on the field with sticky, sweaty long hair always getting in the way. Like work horses in real life, I made it short so it would be out of the way while she did her job.
Rarity - An inspiring trendsetter fashionista, Rarity owns the Carousal Boutique and makes clothing for a living. She frequents town meetings, and has a seat in the council, often advocating for the repair of town parks, or old buildings that need refurbishing. She wears an ascot for that particular flourish a mare always needs. Being a unicorn, she trims the hair that grows down along her back to keep herself prim and proper, as she says. She finds unicorns that don't to be messy and dirty. She dare not fathom of how easily sweat and dirt gets in one's mane when so long and unkempt. Down her back, she still has a stripe of purple where her mane grows. Her design was heavily inspired by the one she has while making dresses, and the NightmareMoonverse manestyle. Like Twilight, she is also based on medieval unicorn portrayals, however, with some liberties of course.
Rainbow Dash - A daring, brave cloudbuster, working as part of the weather team in Ponyville to keep the weather on check for events and crops. However, she has bigger dreams to become on of the Wonderbolts, the most awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping fliers in all of Equestria. RD would bask in the fame, adoration, and praise like a reptile in the hot summer sun. Other than training, hoping, she can never muster up the courage to apply. While she show-boats and gloats about how awesome she is, RD suffers from severe anxiety, ADHD, and fear of rejection. In her design, I wanted RD to look more masculine and stream-lined than she does in the show. Her design never really spoke 'fast' to me. I still don't think this design truly did my vision justice, but I enjoy it for what it is. I darkened her mane colors a touch, and gave her feathered, colored hooves to make her look more like a bird instead of a pony with wings stuck on it.
Fluttershy - Shy, and rather fearful pegasus pony, Fluttershy boxes herself in close to the Everfree Forest, away from ponies who mock her appearance and lifestyle. She is part deer, and with the high separation and xenophobia of Equestria's ponies, she never could fit in. She looked far too deer to fit in with Ponyville and looked far too like a pony to fit in with her mother's herd. Instead, she chose an inbetween, only going into town for supplies and nothing else. It wasn't until meeting Twilight and the others, did she learn how to grow confident in her own skin, with lots of support of course. She finds great friendship and connection with Zecora, the zebra pony who lives in the Everfree Forest, and Discord later on. Her design is the only one I didn't really like in the main cast. It says soft, but it feels too safe for me. In my redesign, I leaned more heavily on a softer, lankier look. I made her wings fluffier, like Pipp's in G5, and gave her deer markings, ears, and hooves. I thought the brown block of hair was nice, but it could've used some dimension, and so I added a streak of yellow to tie it all in.

A Rancher and His Boy (Bob Floyd x Reader)
Summary: Bob and his dad both show Auggie the ropes the same way Joe did for Bob
“Bud, c’mon, we’ve gotta hustle!” Bob called to Auggie.
The little bespectacled three year old waddle-ran down the porch steps and into the grass, holding onto the wicker handbasket Bob used to collect the eggs from the coop. He followed Bob and Joe as they walked along through the fields, the morning still a little bit chilly as the April weather was beginning to turn warm. The horses grazed in the fields along with some of the cattle, but that didn’t mean that the other farm critters wouldn’t be hanging around.
“Alright, hopefully that crotchety old bastard’s still asleep,” Joe chuckled.
A crow from the roof of the coop made Bob groan a little. “If he pecks Auggie, I swear that bird is gonna end up on the dinner table.”
Joe laughed a little before they finally arrived at the coop, the hens all making their way down the little plank and into the grass where they could peck away for bugs if they wished. Bob took a handful of chicken feed from the sack near the door, almost all of them flocking straight to it and pecking furiously at the ground.
“Smokey!” Auggie cried happily as the big rooster practically flew from the roof of the coop, flapping his wings and following Auggie like an obedient dog.
Bob gave his father a quizzical look. “How?” he asked.
“Don’t ask,” Joe told him. “Animals can be weird sometimes.”
Bob undid the hook latch and led Auggie inside when the door swung open, the smell of sawdust, hay and chickens hanging heavy in the air. Bob carefully inspected each and every egg in the nesting boxed to be sure none of them had any chicks growing inside. The ones that didn’t would be sold or eaten for breakfast, while those that did were carefully placed back in the nests.
“Alright bud, go get some,” Bob gently instructed.
Auggie reached into the boxes that were almost floor level while Smokey seemed to watch him carefully from his perch. Bob once again, carefully inspected the eggs and in no time, they had the entire basket full of eggs.
“Any chance we’re getting a slot at the farmer’s market?” Bob asked.
“You bet your ass we’re getting it,” Joe remarked, adjusting the black stetson cowboy hat on his head. “I’m not gonna have a fridge that’s just full of eggs. We’ll sell’em for two bucks a a dozen and leave it at that.”
Bob and his father bantered back and forth before they returned the egg basket to the house. You had just come out with a mug of fresh coffee, still a little bit sleepy, but happy to see your husband, father-in-law and your son going about to start the day’s work.
You kissed Bob right on the lips before handing him his coffee. “Did he have fun?” you asked.
“More than you think,” Bob said, his smile broadening. “Cows still need to be milked though. I think the sow’s gonna have her litter soon because her mate’s going nuts.”
“Well, until then, enjoy yourselves.”
You knew that Bob would. It may have been early in the morning, but you two were out to enjoy it together.

Hi! I'm not sure if this is where to get on the taglist but I'd like to be in the tag list for Yellowstone + Rip Wheeler. Also I'd request for a post about Rip wheeler asking out Y/N Dutton who they are 21 and 18 (y/n) or maybe a post about Beth liking rip but rip likes y/n and y/n hear him saying this?
Thank you in advance
Hi yes this is the way you can be added to a tag list and send in requests 😊 Hope you enjoy
Will You Be This Nervous To Propose???
Rip was never nervous when he was doing his work except when he had to interact with his boss's daughter Y/n Dutton. He was utterly in love with her. But tonight he was going to work up the courage to ask her out tonight. Exiting the barn I saw my sister Beth who was a few seconds older than me us being twins watching me climb down my horse. Her and I were completely opposite of one another. She was heading off to school in a few days while I was staying here with Lee and Kayce just running the ranch like a rancher does with only a high school education in my belt. Holding my light brown hat on my head I walked up to her. "I can't believe you still ride those things after what happened to our mother Y/n." Crossing my arms over my chest I scoffed at my sister with a smile. "Beth, I don't think I can be anywhere else but what daddy is. I am a full on rancher regardless of what tradigity happened to her. Howd'y Rip what are you up to?"
He was wearing a tan hat with the two top buttons of his blue shirt opened as he shifted his feet clearly nervous around us girls. I had to say that 18 year old me now has had a crush on him since the day he got here. "Hey Y/n. Beth. Uh...can I talk to her alone for a second if you don't mind?" He stuttered out before my sister grabbed my shoulder whispering in my ear. "Remember what mother taught us and oh use protection." I blushed her direction as she walked away swaying her hips. Turning my head back his way I asked leaning against the barn wall. "What do you want to talk about, Rip?" He played with the end of his shirt clearing his throat trying to act like he wasn't nervous. "I was wondering if you would want to go...on a date with me tonight...if you don't I get it and I...I should go."
He turned starting to leave but I gently grabbed a hold of his forearm stopping him in his tracks. His deep brown eyes locked onto mine. "Rip, I'd love too but I gotta ask you something." He nodded watching me lean forward on my toes where our lips would almost touch in a kiss. He took a step back but not much since I was holding him close to me. "Will you be this nervous when you ask for my hand cowboy. Because I would hope you have confidence by then." He blushed deeply until I bursted into a laughing fit. A few minutes later he joined in messing with his hat. "Maybe I'll have grown up some confidence by then ma'am." Leaning up on my toes I gave him a quick kiss on the lips where he kissed back until I broke it heading towards the main house. "You just asked out the farmer's daughter. You've got enough confidence for now cowboy. I'll see you later." Rip nodded watching me walk away grinning ear to ear.

RP PLOTTING/SCENARIO WISHLIST
If interested feel free to reply, DM, or ask for my discord!
ARRANGED MARRIAGE AU (with a twist) -- In this verse Patchwork Jack is a servant for a well off family. The oldest child of said family is arranged to be married to your muse but doesn't want to do that so they force PJ to take their place (PJ is still a shapeshifter in this verse so it makes impersonaiting people easy). The spoiled rich kid switches back and forth with Jack, being actually present for court matters/important legal decisions but peaces out and makes PJ handle literally everything else. Your muse falls in love with PJ thinking they're actually the rich person they were wed to. Bonus points if the truth comes out in a dramatic way. Meant to be angst with comfort.
MODERN AU (but still fantasy bc I love fantasy species lol) -- More or less the same as his usual verse but he's a rancher who used to be in a biker gang. He has full shapeshifting abilities in this verse and is a drifter, travelling and frequently shifting forms to avoid his former gang from finding him and beating him to a bloody pulp. He works as a handyman/farm hand for hire in this verse.
City slicker x country or rich farm owner x friendly farmer neighbor: Opposites attract, right? I feel like this verse is pretty self explanatory especially if you've ever seen a Hallmark movie.
Want some angst? -- PJ tries to save someone you care about, isn't able to and per that person's dying wish shifts into them and takes their place.
More angst? -- Someone steals PJ's iconic hat, dies with it on and everyone thinks PJ is dead. Turns out he is very much alive... Except your muse has already mourned him and moved on so he's not sure if he should reveal that he's still alive or not.
Take me back -- Your muse meets PJ back when he was still running with his gang and still a warlock. He's very violent and scary in this flashback verse. Expect a fight scene or two.
Familiar Mask/Masquerade AU -- Youngest adopted child of a noble family and only shapeshifter of said family, he's not allowed to go out in public a lot... With the exception of Masquerade Balls. Much to his parent's frustration he keeps shifting forms and wearing the same mask. Will your muse figure out that the real mask is his body/shifted form or will they just think the mask he wears is trendy? Aka your muse keeps meeting someone who feels familiar at a masquerade ball but can't figure out why. Also in this verse, he sneaks out frequently and does hijinks at night. Bonus points if your muse catches him stealing from the rich and giving to the poor while still wearing his masquerade clothes lmao.
I'm a sucker for soulmate AUs. Matching soulmarks or one arm is a quote from your enemy, the other your lover are my fave tropes ngl.
Poly Ships -- I love a healthy poly ship. This cowboy has two hands and a lot of love.
Redacted ;) -- I'm getting more comfortable writing n.sfw so if you'd like to save a horse and ride a cowboy in a full out thread lmk. I'm also open to writing on discord too.
#wishlist#headcanons#rp plotting#I did not proofread this enjoy alfjslkjf#this isn't like a comprehensive list but it is a good start!!

Topgun AU Ideas
As I was scrolling through the Topgun tag on AO3 the other night, I realized that I was starting to see the same tropes and AUs over & over again. And while not a bad thing at all, personally, I'm just starting to get a little bored of reading the same story over & over.
So I started thinking about what kind of AUs I would love to see in the Topgun fandom and then I started making a list and it kind of spiraled out of control. Oops. 😆
I now present to you all my somewhat organized list of AU ideas! And feel free to use them for any fandom, I was just thinking about Topgun as I came up with them all. It's also by no means an exhaustive list so I probably missed some obvious ones.

"The Ice cream flavors legacy challenge"
Its been A WHILE since i write down a legacy challenge, but that doesn't mean that i don't want to write more! I just can't figure out ideas for legacies...and then i had this idea!
General rules:
You can choose the lifespan of your choice or change it with MCCM
Sims can look whatever you want but they MUST reflect their personality
Heir sims MUST represent their flavor color(s) in their clothes, hair AND house, but they can have natural skintones (like NSB)
You can't use cheats, mods and/or Cc ONLY for an unfair advantage unless for storytelling
Sims who aren't heirs can have random or selected traits
Requiered* packs:
(*Of course, you can change this to fit your packs)
EP: Cottage Living (gen 1), Horse ranch (gen 2), Cats and dogs (gen 3), Discover university (gen 4), Be famous (gen 5 and 7), for rent (gen 8 and 9) Get to work (gen 9) and Eco living (gen 1 and 10)

Gen 1;Strawberry:
Story: you grew up in the big city of San Myshuno because one of your parent was a VERY IMPORTANT politician. You hated it! They were much more focused in their work that you were mostly alone watching TV,painting animals, dreaming with farms...And mostly spending time chatting to your friends online.
When you discovered that your parents were signing you to heredate the power of your parent you decided to escape. Of course, they were (A LOT) of better ideas than going to where you went... but you will fight to become a farmer!

Who Are Oregon's Cattle Killers?
Finding livestock dead-blood drained and eyes, genitals, tongue, and other soft organs removed with surgical precision-has disturbed many a farmer and rancher. The phenomenon of animal mutilation is perhaps one of the most multifaceted mysterious around.
Occurring numerous times across several states, the incidents have involved animals like sheep, pigs, horses, and (primarily) cattle. The killings have been blamed on a variety of culprits with just as many motives: Satanists participating in some obscene ritual, government agents sowing fear to distract from more sinister conspiracies, or space aliens engaging in some kind of biological research. (While strange animal deaths in general often suggest Satanism, UFOs or black helicopter have been reported near places where mutilations occurred, accounting for suspicion of aliens or the government.)
By the 1990s, the phenomenon was so widespread that pop culture began referencing it, with heavy emphasis on cattle and aliens. The two camps were suddenly at odds in movies like Mars Attacks! and television programs like The X-Files to South Park. A few video games have been featured cattle mutilations as an objective. The surreality of Jack the Ripper-like aliens slaughtering unsuspecting bovines and stealing their body parts is a concept that, for some reason, many people find appealing.
The Northwest has certainly had its share of cattle-killing conundrums. Although most have occurred in Idaho and Montana, Washington, and Oregon's cattle have not escaped the strange massacre. For our purposes here, of course, we submit the following incidents from Oregon.
In 1977 a cow was found dead and mutilated on a farm in the Grande Ronde Valley, Union County. Five days later, a nearby resident experienced problems with his television reception. As he got up to adjust his antenna, he looked out the window and saw a large white UFO hovering over the street. Unfortunately, it's impossible, however tempting, to definitively link the two occurrences.
In 1991 in Hood River, a farmer found one of his cows lying dead about five hundred yards from his house. Initially he assumed it was the work of Satanists, but upon closer inspection noticed that the wounds where an eye, the tongue, and the genitalia were missing were slightly cauterized. He wondered if some kind of laser cutting tool was used, and couldn't help but wonder if aliens, rather than Satanists, had anything to do with it.
These incidents were minor compared to others around Bend, which has been a hotbed of animal mutilation since the late 1970s and early 1980s. At that time, as dead, mangled cattle were being found to the southeast near Brothers, at least one rancher claimed to have regularly seen bright white flying saucers dragging, lifting, and tossing about the unfortunate bovines with beams of energy. He compared the noise from the beams to that of arc welders. As much as this sounds like campy science fiction, in 1979 two men at nearby Sand Springs discovered a dead cow mysteriously stuck high up in a ponderosa pine tree.
One of the men, Dwain Wright, had a strong sense of déjà vu when he saw this. He recalled a similar find years earlier on a property he had owned near the Tumalo Reservoir (northwest of Bend): "I had a huge pine tree in a canyon and it was hundreds of feet from either side of the canyon and yet, there was a cow . . . in the top of that pine tree. I thought . . .the only way it could have gotten up there was taken up by a flying saucer and dropped out. There weren't any helicopters working in the Bend area at that time."
Evidently, Wright had a knack for finding strange cattle deaths. In 1980, he was back at Sand Springs when he discovered a bull that obviously died under bizarre circumstances. Its eyes, tongue, and anus were removed and the carcass was partially embedded in the ground. "It reminded me a lot of what they do in England with catapults," he stated in an interview. "They catapult dead animals and I've seen pictures of where they land and it makes quite an impression in the soil." Despite the removal of body parts and the apparent drop from a great height, there was no blood on the ground whatsoever. Whatever was happening, the perpetrators were not finished by any means.
On March 18, 2000, two pairs of dead calves lying about a quarter mile apart were found in the Millican Valley between Brothers and Bend. The next day, eight more claves were found dead in the area. There were no signs of blood or tracks on the ground around any of the carcasses. Kimball Lewis, executive director of the Humane Society of Central Oregon, investigated the incidents. In a later interview, he described the condition of the first four claves, and four of the eight found the next day: "these animals had their skin removed from just behind their front shoulders, if you will, in a 360 degree pattern down to-if you can imagine what would be the equivalent of our ankles on their hind legs. The skin removed was neatly and uniformly down to that area on these animals."
The calves' hides had been removed with impressive precision; the lumen tissue-the thin membrane covering the muscle-was intact and uncut. A necropsy revealed the claves to be about two weeks old and definitely not stillborn, as evidenced by milk in their stomachs. It also revealed another anomaly: a highly reduced amount of blood in the bodies. The heart chambers were completely empty.
Dr. Trish Kentner, the veterinarian in charge of the necropsy, was unable to determine the sex of the calves, as the reproductive organs had been completely removed. Despite Kentner and Lewis's investigation, the mutilations remained as much of a mystery as ever.
X-Files episodes aside, the FBI really has looked into animal mutilations. Their investigation was undertaken in the late 1970s following one by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, which came up short on answers. The FBI concluded that most cases were simply caused by natural predators. The "excised" organs, which are composed of softer tissue, were the first portions eaten by parasites and other scavengers, thus accounting for the "surgically precise" wounds. "Missing" patches of outer skin can be attributed to postmortem bloating, which can stretch and tear the skin, making it appear as though pieces were cut out. What appears to be blood loss, said the FBI, is the result of blood pooling in lower parts of the body or consumption by parasites.
Still, the FBI conceded that this conclusion doesn't necessarily explain every case of animal mutilation. Anomalous circumstances in many incidents cannot be accounted for.
Given this admission, perhaps it's best that Satanists, government agents (perhaps the FBI itself), and especially aliens are not let off the hook just yet.

551: Recognizing The Value Of Construction Contractors In Our Daily Lives
This Podcast Is Episode 551, And It's About Recognizing The Value Of Construction Contractors In Our Daily Lives
I was taking a moment to reflect on the challenges for the Pilgrims coming to America. They decided to make the journey with no guarantee of success. To build homes, plant crops, and take care of animals. Then, later, everyone chose to move West by wagon train, horse, or on foot. I am grateful for them! I think about my Grandparents and my Great Grandparents. What was life like when they were children? Where did they come from, and how did they get to where they were?
The family's oral history seems so inadequate. My father shared so much, but now it looks like so little. Be glad for the simple things we take for granted:
Going to the grocery store, deli, or restaurant for dinner
Living indoors with electricity and indoor plumbing
Driving a car
Crossing the water on a bridge or ferry
Modern times. I am all for living in the city with the gas station and grocery store just down the street. I appreciate reliable electricity, and tree contractors trim powerlines year-round to help prevent outages. I am grateful for the linemen who repair power lines during a storm so we have electricity.
Please note: The offer does not apply to Outsourced Accounting, Bookkeeping Review, or any Consultation and Training products; you can, however, use it to purchase any course or monthly subscription classes in Construction Accounting Academy
Thank You, Contractors, for going to work so the rest of us can stay home safe.
Thank you to the road crews, police, firemen, linemen, tree crews, plumbers, and electricians who work when the news says "Stay Home" and to all the other contractors and emergency services I have not mentioned.
Contractors Make Our Lives Better
Contractors build and maintain the things that make our lives better. They built the factories where the factory workers work. The rancher and farmer, whom you don't think about as contractors, construct and repair buildings and fences and maintain equipment. They learn to be jacks of all trades, raise crops and animals, and battle the elements. Heat, wind, rain, snow, forest fires, or grass fires – they see it first—the more remote their location, the more diverse their skills.
Why did you decide to become a Construction Contractor?
Fast money, easy work, few hours, or all those reasons? Yes, contractors can make much money in this industry. Fast, however, is a relative term.
Definition of Fast Money
Collecting a job deposit is designed to lock down the job and buy materials. While using your client's money to start the project is always a good idea, that doesn't mean you have money to party heartily, buy a bunch of tools, or buy that brand-new truck you want.
The money will fly out of the checkbooks with everyday business expenses without extra help.
If you spend your job deposits in this manner, you get into a cycle of "Borrow from Peter to pay Paul." (author unknown) This was a favorite phrase of the '60s and '70s. What do I mean? Using the deposit from the next job to pay for expenses from the last job is a slippery slope to financial disaster. Another common phrase is "Leverage Is Great Until The Stick Breaks."
It's like a child's game of musical chairs. When the music stops, someone is without a chair. The same thing happens when the economy turns, as in 2008. Contractors thought (and hoped) the recession would be a slight dip and everything would return to normal by the summer of 2009. That is not what happened for most construction contractors.
Some construction contractors had lots of work in the pipeline unaffected by the recession.
Many were overconfident and thought other contractors had a hard time because they "just didn't know how to run a business." Unfortunately, those same contractors were badly hurt when their pipeline of jobs ran out.
Definition of Easy Work
Easy work is any job that you know how to do quickly. Preparing Thanksgiving dinner for twenty or more is a simple task for a chef. However, it might be impossible for a college student living in a dorm or shared apartment.
Definition of a Few Hours
Yes, construction contractors can work a few hours every day. Usually, they work twelve hours or more every day of the week. It is only a few hours to:
Take the call
Schedule the appointment
Meet the client
Create the bid
Present the bid
Collect the deposit
Schedule the work
Make a material list
Pick up the materials
Coordinate any employees
Go to the homeowner's house or job site
As you begin the job:
Think, plan, and do the work.
Watch out for children and pets.
Answer the homeowner's questions.
Be polite and make small talk as needed.
Keep working at a pace that compensates for any time spent watching out for children and pets or chatting with the homeowner. The homeowner expects work to be completed on time or ahead of schedule, no matter how many interruptions you or your employees have.
End of the day – Clean up the job site so it is ready for use this evening or clean and ready for work tomorrow. Pick up all your tools and materials (mobilize and demobilize)
Meet with the homeowner to discuss the rest of the project.
Assure them all is going well. Make notes of possible change orders or add-ons. Do not forget to price out change orders. Homeowners remember that unless you agree to a price reduction in writing, you are not obligated to reduce the price.
The increase in scope is never forgotten. You Promised To Do [fill in the blank]. If you think any changes are omitted, wait; you will hear a grownup impersonating a preschooler wanting a cookie. Water on the stone is an understatement.
Like most Construction Contractors, you feel like you are waving the money as it goes by. Rest assured, it is true in Washington State, where contractors collect and pay sales taxes. The tax money is just moving through the checking account. Borrowing State and Federal tax money is very bad.
The same applies to payroll taxes, except the company must make a company match for Social Security and Medicare, pay state unemployment insurance and state worker’s compensation, and obtain a contractor’s license, contractor’s liability insurance, bond, and other specialty licenses.
The business of being in business as a construction contractor involves:
Keeping track of a lot of paperwork
Filling out and filing government forms
Paying taxes
Financials are essential for filing annual federal taxes, whether you are a sole proprietor, LLC, or S-corp. The individual reports are for the benefit of the construction contractor.
Are you making money?
Which job? – Did you like that particular type of job?
Do you go into any job knowing it will barely break even?
Are you passing out business cards or flyers to the neighbors of your current or past jobs?
Are you driving long distances between jobs?
Final thoughts
You couldn’t change yesterday; you could only review it and think about what you could do today. And how can you have a better tomorrow? Tiny changes can make a big difference. Sometimes, taking a pause is the right decision to make.
Money makes the world go round. It is hard to buy gas or groceries with hope and a promise. It is not unreasonable to expect to be paid for your work. Contractors like you bring value to everyone's life you touched. I am rooting for your success and wish you and yours the best in everything that comes your way.

The cowboy is an iconic symbol of the American West. In popular culture, cowboys are glamourous, mysterious and daringly heroic figures. However, the reality of being a cowboy in the 1880s was very different. Their roles required gruelling physicality, and it was often a lonely life that paid relatively little. Cowboys herded cattle, cared for horses, made repairs to fences and buildings, worked cattle drives and sometimes lived in frontier towns. They were not always welcome as they travelled, as they had reputations of being drunk, disorderly and even violent. In addition, the work of cowboys in states west of the Mississippi River greatly impacted the beef industry in America in the 1880s. The first cowboys were Spanish vaqueros The history of cowboys began long before the 19th century, as Spanish vaqueros were ranching in what is now Texas before US settlers arrived. The Spanish introduced cattle to Mexico shortly after their arrival in the Americas, building ranches for cattle and other livestock. By 1519, Spanish ranchers had hired indigenous cowboys, called ‘vaqueros’, to tend the cattle. They were known for their roping, riding and herding skills, which American cowboys then adopted in the 19th century. The rise of the American cowboy came after the American Civil War During the American Civil War, many ranchers in Texas went off to fight for the Confederate cause. When they arrived back to their land, they found their cows had bred excessively, and there were now an estimated 5 million cattle in Texas. Luckily, the demand for beef was increasing in the north, which had effectively used up its supply in the war, so ranchers hired cowboys to help maintain the herds and bring the cattle north. These cowboys adopted the vaquero dress and lifestyle, using their methods for cattle-driving. Further, as more railroads were built throughout the mid-19th century, the west became more accessible and there were increased areas for settlement, agriculture and economic development in the United States. African Americans, Chinese railroad workers and white settlers all travelled to ranch, farm and mine in the new states. By the 1870s, Bison were hunted almost to extinction so that lands could be ploughed to grow various crops. Cattle became an important industry at this time, especially in Texas. The new railways also meant that southern farmers could meet the demand in the north, eventually sending herds by train. Cowboy dress had many functions. The way cowboys dressed helped them manage in harsh working conditions. Most infamously, they wore boots that had pointed toes – cowboy boots – to easily slip in and out of stirrups. This was critical, as it was common to fall off a horse, which could be life-threatening, since a delay in getting out of the stirrups could lead to being dragged by the horse. There were multiple functions of the cowboy hat; the brim protected them from the sun, the high crown allowed it to be a cup for water, and, when folded over it could even be used as a pillow. Cowboys would also often wear bandanas to protect from dust kicked up by cattle. Lastly, chaps worn by many cowboys helped protect them from sharp bushes, cacti and other plants that they encountered in the plains and on cattle drives.

Cutting Horse Dog Herding: A Dynamic Duo in Action
Introduction
In the world of livestock management and ranching, the bond between humans, horses, and dogs is unparalleled. These loyal and hardworking animals have been essential partners in the agricultural industry for centuries, and nowhere is their partnership more evident than in the exciting and dynamic world of cutting horse dog herding. In this blog post, we will delve into the fascinating world of cutting horses and herding dogs, exploring the unique synergy between these two remarkable creatures as they work together to help ranchers and farmers.
Understanding Cutting Horses
Cutting horses are a specialized breed of horse known for their agility, intelligence, and natural instinct for working cattle. The term "cutting" refers to the practice of separating or "cutting" a single cow from a herd of cattle, a skill that was developed and refined over many generations. Cutting horse competitions have become a popular sport, attracting riders and enthusiasts from all over the world.
These horses are carefully trained to anticipate the movements of cattle and to respond to the subtle cues of their riders. Their athleticism and ability to pivot, stop, and change direction quickly make them perfectly suited for the demanding task of cutting cattle from a herd. However, while cutting horses are incredibly skilled, they are even more effective when they have the support of another exceptional partner – herding dogs.
The Role of Herding Dogs
Herding dogs, like Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, and Cattle Dogs, are renowned for their herding instincts and intelligence. These breeds have been selectively bred for generations to work alongside humans in managing livestock, and their skills are nothing short of remarkable.
Herding dogs play a vital role in cutting horse dog herding by assisting the rider and the horse in maintaining control over the cattle. Their primary functions include:
Gathering: Herding dogs help gather cattle into a group, making it easier for the cutting horse and rider to select an individual cow for separation.
Flanking: These dogs move to the sides of the cattle and use their bodies and barks to encourage them to move in the desired direction. They maintain a safe distance from the cattle to avoid confrontations.
Nudging: When needed, herding dogs gently nudge or "head" the cattle to keep them moving in the desired direction, all while maintaining a calm and non-threatening demeanor.
Holding: After the cutting horse and rider have separated a cow from the herd, the herding dog can help keep the cow isolated by circling and guiding it, preventing it from rejoining the group.
The Dynamic Duo in Action
The synergy between cutting horses and herding dogs is truly awe-inspiring when witnessed in action. Picture a rancher on horseback, expertly guiding a cutting horse through a herd of cattle while a herding dog, like a silent conductor, orchestrates the movements of the cattle. This harmonious partnership creates a seamless flow of communication between three species, resulting in efficient and precise cattle management.
As the cutting horse moves to cut an individual cow from the herd, the herding dog takes its position on the opposite side, ensuring that the cow doesn't escape or return to the group. The rider communicates with both the horse and the dog through subtle cues, such as shifts in body weight, reins, and vocal commands. It's a mesmerizing display of teamwork and skill.
Benefits of the Dynamic Duo
The collaboration between cutting horses and herding dogs offers numerous benefits to ranchers and farmers:
Efficiency: With the help of herding dogs, cutting horses can work more efficiently, reducing the time and effort required to manage cattle.
Reduced Stress: The calm and deliberate actions of herding dogs help keep cattle calm, reducing stress and the risk of injury to both animals and humans.
Precision: The combination of a cutting horse's agility and a herding dog's instincts allows for precise cattle control, ensuring that the right animals are separated from the herd.
Safety: Herding dogs play a crucial role in preventing cattle from charging or becoming aggressive, which enhances the safety of the ranching operation.
Versatility: The versatility of this partnership makes it suitable for a wide range of livestock management tasks, from sorting and branding to vaccination and transportation.
Conclusion
Cutting horse dog herding is a remarkable testament to the age-old partnership between humans and animals in agriculture. The bond between cutting horses and herding dogs showcases the potential for cooperation and teamwork among different species, resulting in a highly efficient and harmonious system for managing cattle.
As we marvel at the dynamic duo in action, it becomes evident that the relationship between cutting horses and herding dogs extends far beyond work; it is a profound connection forged through trust, training, and a shared sense of purpose. In the world of ranching and livestock management, this partnership remains a shining example of the incredible feats that can be achieved when humans work alongside their loyal four-legged companions.

Very exhausting day. Today, most, if not all the volunteers helped capture and vaccinate wild mustangs that roamed Dundull and Firgrove. Normally, we wouldn't interfere like that, but because this was one herd that got seperated, probably by the wolfpack that was seen around recently, we went ahead and captured them before they could endanger themselves any more. They're all in good shape because the Rangers in Dundull and ranchers in Firgrove frequently set out food and water for them in dry periods (or in the winter) so technically, the plan was to release them all safely back in Dundull after vaccinating them and checking for injuries. However, it was fortunate that we didn't, because we discovered legal documents released just a few weeks ago that would enable civilians to just capture any mustang they'd like for their own use. And considering there's still a good amount of farmers or poachers who dislike those mustangs roaming around freely, Rowan, Carl, Josh and me sat together to come up with a plan to keep those horses. Neither of us have the funds it'd take to host an event like a mustang makeover, so that was out of question. I volunteered to work with a few of the mustangs, under the condition that this time I'd get some pay out of it as well. So, I probably won't have time for trivial stuff like sleeping or eating for a long while now. I mean, it's not like I have a social life anyways so it will probably be fine. I'm really looking forward to getting to know each of the horses. And maybe I'll persuade some of my colleagues to help me out a bit as well.

A Rancher's Best Helper (Miles Miller x Reader)
Summary: A farmer's best friend has always been his canine companion
Tagging: @floydsmuse Meggy I think it's safe to say this is gonna be our thing (lol).
Miles, Otis and the other hands herded the last of the cattle into the pen at the back of the barn. Miles held onto the horse's reins with one hand and protectively held two year old Benny with the other, the little one all bundled up in his little tan Carhartt jacket, knit hat and mittens. It was barely three in the afternoon and the snow had already started, but amidst the sea of loudly mooing cattle, Miles saw a blob of grey, black and white darting in and out and behind them.....Shaggy.
Miles, Otis and the hands whistled and commanded the cattle towards the pen while Shaggy did his part and herded them in. As soon as the bolt had been thrown across the fence, the most arduous part of their workday was done.
"That's it Shaggy," Miles called to the dog. "You're all done."
Shaggy barked and stood on his hind legs, eagerly accepting the homemade bacon treat that Miles had pulled out of his jacket pocket.
Miles dismounted first, adjusting his black cowboy hat on his head before lifting Benny off the saddle and onto his hip. One of the hands took the horse and brought her back to the stables before Miles sauntered off with Shaggy beside him to go and finish the rest of the chores before sunset.
"We gonna go get eggies again daddy?" Benny chirped.
"Yep," Miles told him. "We've gotta go get eggies for the morning."
Miles lifted the latchkey on the door to the chicken coop, taking the black wire basket that hung on a nearby hook. Inside was full of the hens clucking to each other, some huddling together in the nesting boxes to keep warm and their chicks nestled beside or underneath them. The rooster had been feeling particularly broody the last few days, often allowing a few chicks to sleep in his end of the hut while the head hen had been feeling the same. Sure enough, in the nesting box were seven unfertilized eggs which Kathy would no doubt, be using to make the egg casserole for Christmas morning.
A few of the hens that remained outside were quickly herded in by Shaggy, loudly clucking and flapping their wings from having been suddenly startled. "Good boy," Miles said, giving him another one of the bacon treats.
Once the work in the coop was done, Miles let Shaggy run for a good long while, before going to close up the rabbit hutch for the night. The hutch had been built from an abandoned shed on the property, now repurposed to house the rabbits whose shedded hair could be used to make soft wool and fabric.
"Uh oh, uh oh," Benny suddenly chirped. "Daddy! Daddy where's Peter?!"
"Aw shit," Miles swore. He counted again to see how many bunnies were in the hutch and had counted only thirteen, the fourteenth nowhere to be found.
Shaggy came running back with something in his mouth a moment later, a tan and cream colored little bunny with long ears, holding him gently by the scruff of his neck.
"There you are you little shit," Miles chuckled. "You know Peter? This shit's gotta stop sooner than later. There's coyotes, bears and a bunch of other creepy stuff in the woods."
He wasn't lying, not at all. Montana wasn't particularly known for its friendly variety of wildlife. Miles had learned quickly that if you were a rancher in the field, it was always best to carry a rifle, feeling much less antsy about doing so ever since a grizzly bear had tried to sneak into the pasture the previous winter. The bears had been the reason he hated when it got dark early. That first encounter had scared him so shitless that he and Otis had agreed it best to have the critters in before dark.
Peter was promptly put with his brothers and sisters for the night and the rabbit hutch firmly and doubly locked up for the night, the fresh sawdust bedding having been laid down the night before after Otis had cleaned up the woodshop.
The goats, the sheep and the pigs were the last ones to go in for the night. Unusually enough, the poor little runty piglet had been left behind, trying to keep up with his brothers and sisters, but luckily Shaggy had caught him the same way he had Peter.
"Alright buddy," Miles said, scooping the piglet up and tucking him into his jacket. "Let's go in."
Miles brought him into the section of the barn where Bertha and Hamlet tended to their own brood of piglets. The big boar came right up to Miles as he stooped to his level and let him sniff the little piglet before the runty little thing dove from Miles's hands and right to his sire. He tried to push his way in to nurse with Bertha shoving aside some of the more well fed ones so that the runt could have his share.
With everything done at last, Miles brought Benny back to the cottage and Shaggy with him. It felt so good to at last, get out of the freezing winter evening and into a warm house. Christmas Eve would be the very next day with family and friends coming from all over the states to spend the holiday with you and Miles.
"Well good evening o' husband of mine," you chuckled.
"Hi sweetpea," Miles said, kissing your lips and then Baby Jesse's little head before stripping off his jacket.
You very gently handed two week old Jesse off to Miles, having just fed him a half hour ago, his soft coos filling Miles's ears as Miles rocked him gently.
"Sweet, sweet boy," Miles softly cooed. "You and your brother are so loved......yes you are."
Miles could have swore he saw a little smile on Jesse's sleepy face as he went and seated himself on the soft green sofa in the living room. Shaggy jumped up beside him and began sniffing Baby Jesse before Miles snapped his fingers. "Down," he commanded. "Lay down."
Shaggy laid right down, his paws stretched out in front of him as he yawned, sniffing Jesse a little gentler than before. You snuggled in beside Miles as the fire crackled away and Benny joined you. You were so happy and so grateful for the family that you had, especially a furry companion who had made a huge amount of difference for you both.
