Fake Marriage AU:

Tomoe Ame x Usagi x Mariko x Kenichi

LISTEN LISTEN HEAR ME OUT OKAY

You know how that one advisor/vassal bastard whatever-his-name-is that convinced Noriyuki to marry off Mariko(lords could pick out spouses for their samurai)

What if...some staff in the court heard this plot and alerted Tomoe Ame before the fucker could bring it up to Noriyuki

And she's like fuck the only way I can think to get out of any arranged marriage is by being married but who can I...

Like always our boy Miya popping up at either the worst or best times possible

Now I don't know what logical loops Tomoe Ame goes through for asking Usagi plus his childhood friends to marry her but even though I don't know the why I know the what and how so let's get this AU rolling

She asks Usagi to take her with to visit his hometown for...reasons, yeah... And when they get there she goes dogeza(because girl is desperate and knows that lil shit gunning for her position will not only do a shit job as Noriyuki's right hand but definitely has the vibes of turncoat for self-preservation and so she needs this marriage) asking them to marry her

And they're like um, who are you asking????

Because the way they're positioned it looks like she's proposing to Kenichi, who is y'know married to Mariko(i wanted this to be pre-marriage but then i remembered Jotaro so sacrifices must be made for best boi)

And she doubles down "the three of you, a polyandrous marriage."

"WHAT!?"-childhood friends gang

Then she explains how it's to prevent a plot to weaken her lords court etc etc maybe some other stuff too to convince Kenichi and Mariko(Usagi is always down to help his friends, he's lied to shogunate spies and cops to protect himself or his buddies, ride or die)

A (reluctant) agreement is made and they do the wedding

Now it's basically

Mariko: Bi-crisis ⁄⁠(⁠⁄⁠ ⁠⁄⁠•⁠⁄×⁄⁠•⁠⁄⁠ ⁠⁄⁠)⁠⁄ women...hot?????(living out her teenage fantasy)

Kenichi: Bi-crisis(Demisexual) (⁠‘///◉⌓⁠◉⁠///’) people outside of Mariko... hot?????USAGI HOT????? [Mariko was the only person he had ever had romantic or sexual attraction too so he assumed she was the only one for him, turns out if she hadn't been his first crush and thus birthing a rivalry with Usagi he would've developed a crush on him too, his type is strong sense of duty and good with a sword]

Usagi: Outwardly= worried about Tomoe's situation and how long this good thing will last before it's snatched away like all the things he's ever loved. (⁠・⁠–⁠・⁠;) Inwardly=YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!! every secret desire and teenage fantasy is coming alive. \(⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)/ (huh, so I did have a crush on Kenichi back then...)

Tomoe: ya girl is STRESSED. Having to deal with political scheming, making sure her charade isn't found out, making sure that box she locked up her feelings for Usagi with stays buried deep, AND whatever blossoming feelings she has for his childhood friends because Oh No They're Hot (what is in the water for them all to turn out like this)

Jotaro is out here living his best life, finally getting the two dads he wanted PLUS a cool new mom?? SIGN HIM THE FUCK UP!!!

In summation: Tomoe Ame is living in drama/action/romance anime while everyone else is in a romance/comedy/slice of life anime

Endgame is polycule and Tomoe Ame being confused over how things ended up like this

Tomoe Ame tops them

EDIT: Tomoe's type is cringefail losers, the boys are for obvious reasons but you better believe I'm counting Mariko as one, look at the whole Jotaro reveal situation and say she made no cringefail moves

It's fine now tho, Jotaro gets his two cakes in the end with bonus free desert (does this metaphor even work)

btw, if you liked my post analysing just the magnet "holsters" in Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, I'm eventually gonna post more outfit description/analysis! just cuz I've already been writing some longer descriptions for a while now - that's one of my fave things to research and write about, since it can be good art reference for my own drawings, and especially since I can go through the episodes looking for anything new to write down or connect :)

Also, thank you so much for the replies on my post! LOVING the reactions I'm seeing on it, I didn't expect this to do numbers at all but I'm pleased people enjoy reading me ramble about details in a show I like haha xD I don't usually get replies on my other fandom posts, so this is very surprising, even here. I'm touched!

@ranarenee - I already replied to you on the original post, but I genuinely just wanted to feature this comment cuz I'm glad ppl are having a positive reaction to this post xD

I also think it was probably a bit easier to animate them! in addition, because it provides an interesting change of technology in the world of Usagi Chronicles, it means that it might have become more interesting to design this hypothetical descendant-world. I'm sure they might have also just thought it was an interesting and unique element of what they were making, but from Art Director Khang Le and Stan Sakai's CBCC interview, and the SDCC@ Home 2021 panel I remember it was mentioned a few times how many clever things they found to make the production spending smaller on the more trivial things.... so the magnetic holsters feels like a thing that might have hit many birds with one stone, so-to-speak. You have the easier drawing of boards and maybe a few things made lighter for the 3D crew (no extra models or rope to animate, for example), but you also have a pleasing design element to give the main fighters in the cast - Usagi, Gen and Chizu - as well as other characters who would happen to wear weapons on their person aside from Karasu-Tengu. Like mentioned in the post, Kitsune is an interesting exception here, because of course, she's based on UY Kitsune who is also not a direct fighter or anything, but also, the world of SR appears to be at peace of some sort, and it's mentioned several times that there were wars at some point, so not many ordinary citizens of Neo would even have these unless they wanted to use or carry weapons every day. Kitsune wants to blend in with this ordinary citizenry and does so quite well.

I just thought of this today and I guess my post sort of mentioned it, but this existence of the magnets also seems to imply some hierarchy of income or money flow. Kitsune doesn't have any because she doesn't need them and she wouldn't spend money she doesn't have on them anyway. Chizu is Lady Fuwa's favourite student despite how she treats her - and gets the best undercover gear, so like Gen and Usagi, custom magnets. I suspect also that Chizu deliberately somehow got herself assigned to the temple-job (headcanon for now), or perhaps hoped it would be something like that, because she didn't want to get any of the more victim-heavy missions the Neko Ninja do. Gen obviously has spent his own money on the holsters and they are there out of pure practicality - can't be a bounty-hunter without wepons, can you? So the magnets seem more like they're ordinary but custom for the outfit. And Usagi, as discussed before, possibly inherited them because of the clan mon adorning the inlay of the magnet.

I will probably continue making posts like this even if I have no audience! why I made this blog at first was to collect my SRTUC fandom theories and drawings under a more organized platform compared to twitter, where this specific fan-account started. I now write almost explusively about SRTUC so you can bet I have way fewer notes than if I wrote about shipping or something else popular for example xD

About your Feral AU, does Sabo and Ace wait until Luffy grows a little to sail again? Or do they gave up on becoming pirates to look over their brother? :0

Also, is it difficult for them to let Luffy go when he wants to become a pirate and sail?

the timeline of events that I had in mind for them after Luffy is rescued is kinda sketchy in my head and subject to change, but its basically this: - Ace and Sabo spend about a year on Dawn Island with Luffy to help him re-adjust to society.

- Ace and Sabo finally set sail again after Luffy insists that he’ll be fine and he refuses to be the reason they’re putting off their dreams of becoming pirates.

- Ace and Sabo agree to stay together until they reach the Grandline, after which they’d split up to do their own thing.

- Ace and Sabo manage to end up Sixis island and meet the Masked Deuce. This time they have more experience with being stranded on a deserted island (and Ace gets the mera mera no mi), and they all escape together

- The 3 of them reach the Grandline and on the first island they reach with a town, Sabo gets his own ship. Masked Deuce stays with Ace, and Sabo sets off on his own adventure.

- Sabo runs into the revolutionaries pretty early on in his travels and ends up joining them after seeing their work on an island he stopped on.

-Though neither Sabo nor Ace talked about this, both of them actually start making plans to head back to East Blue because of sudden reoccurring nightmares of Luffy getting into a shipwreck and disappearing/dying as it gets closer and closer to Luffy’s 17th birthday.

     - though their friends/crewmates try to talk them out of it, it actually gets bad enough they agree to let them go, so long as they come back in ~2-3 months.

- Sabo makes it back to East Blue first, but Luffy’s already set sail so he quickly tries to track him down. He finds him after Zoro’s already joined. Luffy’s kinda pissed Sabo didn’t trust him to set sail, but his joy at seeing his brother again wins out, and Sabo asks to join him until at least he reaches the Grandline, to which Luffy reluctantly agrees, so long as Sabo doesn’t try to interfere in his fights and decision making as captain.

- Ace arrives in East Blue and finds Luffy after Usopp joins along with the Going Merry. Again Luffy is kinda annoyed neither of his brothers trusted him to set sail, but also REUNION makes him very happy. Ace also asks to stick along until they reach the Grandline after hearing Sabo’s plans, and agrees to the same terms Luffy demanded of Sabo.

- events after remain largely the same since Ace and Sabo keep to their promise and stay out of Luffy’s fights.

- After they reach the Grandline, they part ways again.

NOTE

- Sabo doesn’t get to meet Dragon until after Loguetown. After 2 years with the Revolutionaries, he was still considered on the newer side and thus too risky to meet the man in charge, but after Dragon realizes his relationship with Luffy, he takes a more personal interest.

- Ace joins the Whitebeards a year later than in the original timeline and doesn’t get the chance to become 2nd Division Commander by the time Blackbeard kills Thatch, so never personally pursues him. He also left for the East Blue before Thatch’s death, so is unaware of Blackbeard’s crimes until he returns.

So uhh yeah, it was very difficult for Ace and Sabo to let Luffy travel on his own, and sorry this turned out pretty long LOL
