There is nobody who gets Flameheart both the most angry and the most excited in the battle sense than Ramsey Singh. The proclaimed Pirate Lord, one who is not only the antithesis to Flameheart but the biggest challenge the Pirate King has encountered. At one time, like many others, when Flameheart had first arrived in the Sea of Thieves, he saw Ramsey as a figure of strength and cunning. Although, over time that becomes far more sour, and more of a desire to defeat the famed and unbeatable pirate. Ramsey stands for order amongst the pirates in the Sea, the "hero" of the place, continuing the controlled presence of the companies, that rules are needed. Flameheart is for the opposite, the freedom of pirates to pillage and plunder without the control of the companies, about the strife and pride, collecting treasures, that strength and power is what makes leaders, that flesh is a burden. A part of Flameheart feels that life would be dull without having Ramsey to face against him. His goal involving the Pirate Lord is not to kill him, but to make him kneel and forfeit his title to the skeletal lord. Sir Pendragon did get close to becoming an enemy of Flameheart, but he did end up being removed from the playing field first by Graymarrow, and then again when the phantom foolishly sacrificed himself in an attempt to stop Flameheart's resurrection. He is more seen as a foolish player, trying to make himself an enemy but fell short.

Where do I even begin? Thomas was the first character from HWU (or any of PB's work, for that matter) that I ever got attached to. To this day, I don't really know why. Sometimes, I just want to put him under a microscope and intensely study him (aka write from his perspective for pages on end to Figure Him Out™).

He's inspired heavily by Henry Cavill.

He grew up in a dysfunctional household in Providence, Rhode Island; he's always been close with his mother, but his father was an alcoholic and put the two of them through hell.

Rachel is Thomas's half-sister due to his father having an affair during the first few years of his life.

He, Dr. Ethan Ramsey, and Gabe Ricci have been friends since childhood.

To earn money for his mother and for college during high school, he was a Sears catalog model. He mostly modeled underwear, sleepwear, swimwear, and holiday collections.

Thomas dated Yvonne in high school. She was a French exchange student, and they started dating their sophomore year. When they were planning their futures, they realized they were on very different paths in life, with her going to her first opera run in the West End and him going to film school in L.A. Neither were sure if they could handle a long-distance relationship while they both put their careers first, so they called off the relationship.

When he attended Hollywood U as a student for his first film degree, his roommate and longtime boyfriend was Diego Barrantes. This would be the first time either of them dated another man, during a time when it was not as widely accepted. They would spend summers at Diego's mother's home in San Francisco, and it's where Thomas gained a fondness for carne asada tacos. The two never "broke up" officially, but Diego decided to spend more time with his family after his brother got into a car accident that gave him long-term medical issues, and as much as Thomas loved him, they would find each other again when the time was right.

During his master's degree work in film is when he met the mysterious Marianne Delacroix, who was going for her master's degree in fashion at the exact same time.

Trying to finish films during his master's program as an creative fully in the industry was a whole different beast compared to his student films. Having to work with figures like Brian Ratzik and Anders Stone to get his films distributed in theaters during this time, Thomas had to learn to be his own advocate for his work in more ways than ever before.

During his first few years of teaching at Hollywood U, he pursued open relationships and wanted to try polyamory. He still saw Diego when he could, but he also dated actress/business mogul Bree Wesley and musician/bartender Kane Washington, two best friends who moved out to buy homes in Hollywood after their careers took off in New York. During this time, he also dated fellow professor Priya Singh, though they only lasted a few months and have been professional rivals ever since.

It's when two of his students began fighting for an internship at Faux Pas Magazine that everything changed. Through this, Marianne re-entered his life, and the two began a relationship that would prove detrimental to his health, to say the least.

Without going into too much detail, Thomas's relationship with Marianne was rife with emotional manipulation and physical harassment. The worst events of their relationship happened while he was directing his first two television series — Desire & Decorum in 2017 and 2018, and The Unexpected Heiress in 2019. Cast and crew were terrified when Marianne was on set, as she was the costume director for both shows.

After a particularly difficult altercation on set during the last week of filming The Unexpected Heiress, Thomas ended up in the hospital with multiple severe injuries when cast members found him unconscious in his dressing room. Marianne was arrested, and Rose stepped up to help finish directing the project, consulting with Thomas remotely.

Four months before The Unexpected Heiress premiered, the pandemic hit. Editing the show remotely and doing press interviews occupied his time, but could only do so to a point.

Dealing with the pandemic also meant that Marianne's assault trial would take longer to begin, especially as more charges were added as time went on and multiple pre-trial hearings needed to take place.

Thomas coped with all of this in a few ways: vlogging, cooking, screenwriting, songwriting, and getting to know his new-at-the-time neighbor across the street, Sadie Kennedy-Appleton.

When the trial began in September of 2021, the media covered it relentlessly. Thomas never answered questions paparazzi or news reporters alike asked him, relegating them to his lawyers. When it concluded in December, the court ruled in Thomas's favor and then some. It could never make up for the damage that was done to him, but at least he had closure.

He kept himself out of the spotlight aside from teaching at HWU, not working on his filming his latest project, The Deadliest Game, until January of 2024.

In late January, Arundhati and her family were invited to attend her distant relative, Radhika's wedding in Mumbai in March. Their grandmothers were close friends, so Aru and Sahil spent a lot of time with Radhika during their holidays when they were young.

They kept in touch even when Aru and her family moved to Boston and basically were like cousins. Naturally, she called them at her wedding, wanting them to participate in her happiness.

Radhika's fiance, Nikhil, knew Ethan since their work in the Amazon and had bonded well with him and became his good friend, who was still in contact with Ethan. As a result, Nikhil invited him to his wedding.

"Ethan, I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to come into the hospital for the first week of March. I have to go to Mumbai to attend my relative Radhika's wedding", Aru told him. 

"That's fine, but make sure to submit an application. Just so I can note it down officially so that no one reprimands you later."

"Got it. I will mail you the application in a day or two."

"Great. By the way, you know Nikhil, right? He's also getting married in Mumbai during the first week of March."

"That's great, maybe we could go together if it is around Radhika's wedding. Who is he getting married to?"

"His fiancee," Ethan looked at the e-invite on his phone before continuing, "Radhika Deshpande, who is a statistician."

"Wait, what?" questioned a shell-shocked Aru.

"Aru, what's wrong?" Ethan asked when he saw her too stunned to speak.

"Aru, come sit down and have some water. Whatever it is, we will face it together," Ethan said while helping her sit down and bringing her a glass of water.

"Thanks. Can I see the e-invite, please?" She asked, after managing to recover her speech.

"Sure, here you go", he said, handing her the phone but not understanding why.

Aru quickly took out her phone to compare the e-invites.

To her surprise, the e-invite she received was the same one that Ethan had gotten. She spent enough time staring at the phones in her hands that Ethan got worried.

"What's wrong, Aru? Can you tell me what's going on in your mind?"

"Ethan, I think we have been invited to the same wedding."

"What do you mean?"

"Here, look at these two invites, and tell me if there is anything different about them", she said, handing him the devices.

Ethan treated the images like a diagnostic case and inspected every pixel of them for any difference.

After about 15 minutes of peering at the screen, he grunted.

"So, my conclusion was right," Aru responded.

"Yeah. We are going to the same events", Ethan sighed. 

"Ethan, you haven't told Nikhil about us, have you?"

"No, not at all."

"No matter what, we can't reveal our relationship to them", Aru mentioned.

"Why not, love?"

"Because everyone who knows Radhika and Nikhil will be present there. I don't want to be judged for dating you and neither do I want anyone to judge you or make snide comments about us."

"Okay, I do get your point now", Ethan nodded.

"So, just for a week, we will have to pretend that we aren't dating. I'll go there with my family and you by yourself. 

"Yeah, okay. We don't have any other option, do we? It's a shame because I would have loved to introduce you as my girlfriend."

Before Aru could reply, her phone started ringing and displayed Sahil's call.

"Hi Kiddo, how did you get reminded of me suddenly?"

"Did you get Radhika's invitation?"

"Yes, I did. But there is a huge issue, bud."

"What is it?" Sahil asked, not knowing what would be coming next.

"Radhika's fiance is a good friend of Ethan's."

"And they don't know you both are dating."

"Exactly. I don't want to give anyone a chance to gossip about us."

"Yeah, I get it. Some people can be downright nasty and disgusting. But are you sure that Ethan's friend is marrying our relative, Radhika? Because both Radhika and Nikhil are extremely popular names."

"Yes, Sahil. I compared the invites we both received. We both have been invited to the same wedding."

"Well, if that's the case, you both will have to stay at different places."

"Why should we do that?" asked Ethan.

"Because there is a huge chance that Nikhil will invite you to stay near him, and if you refuse, it will look weird. Also, Radhika and her relatives might visit us and question about you", Sahil explained.

"Shit, we didn't think about this."

"You are completely right. We can't show that we are together. Only then they will buy the lie."

"Didi, we have been asked to attend all the pre-wedding and post-wedding events. Has Ethan been asked as well?"

"Yup, all the events," responded Ethan.

"Well then, it is settled. We'll stay away from each other for a week."

"Let's see how long that lasts," teased Sahil.

Aru was interrupted by her pager.

"Sahil, I gotta go. There is a 911 call I have to attend to. Talk to ya later, bud."

Aru and Ethan didn't realise how quickly the time flew. They were on their way to Mumbai with her family. Ethan was sitting a few rows behind them so that they could leave separately, just in case Radhika or Nikhil came to escort them to their places.

Before they parted ways, Ethan and Aru promised they would stay somewhat around the other. "During all the events, stay in my line of vision, don't stray away."

"Yes, ma'am. Understood," he said, with a huge grin on his face.

"I love you, babe. See you later. Message me when you get time."

"Of course, love. Don't need to tell me twice. Love you too, sweetheart."

The wedding took place smoothly, and the couple had a great time, enjoying all the rituals they had to perform. 

Meanwhile, Ethan and Aru enjoyed themselves even though they were apart for a long time.

After the wedding, the married couple hosted a reception event which had a DJ playing some hit Hindi, Marathi and English songs. Meanwhile. Aru and Sahil were having some snacks in a corner.

"Didi, you should go dance with Ethan."

"Sahil, no one here knows about us."

"Didi, look around you. Everyone is enjoying themselves. Go and have some fun with Ethan."

"Are you sure? What if someone sees us?"

"They will not, I can fully assure you that."

 A few minutes later, Ethan and Aru met in a dark part of the room.

"Why did you call me here, darling? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, I just wanted to dance with you."

"Are you sure, love?"

"Yes, Ethan. Please? We haven't seen each other in a week."

"Alright, then. Anything to make you happy."

At that moment, the DJ started playing a song that made Aru swoon because it was perfect for them, and they started dancing.

Even though Aru's eyes were fixed on Ethan's, her mind was elsewhere.

"Aai, I'm with Ethan."

 "Come and join us quickly before they notice your absence."

"Ho, aai."

Ethan slipped out of the dark into the light after bidding goodbye to Arundhati but she felt like she had plunged into darkness. She couldn't even get a few minutes with her beloved without someone troubling them.

Meanwhile, the married couple joined Ethan to have a chat.

"Hey, Ethan, my friend! How are you? I hope you enjoyed all the events today."

"Yes, I enjoyed it to my heart's content, Nikhil. It was fun learning about new traditions that you follow."

"That's great. I bet Arundhati had already taught them to you."

"What.. what are you talking about?"

"We know you are with Aru. We saw you dancing with her just a few moments ago", Radhika said monotonously.

"How...how did you know it was us?"

At this, both Nikhil and Radhika burst into a fit of laughter.

"Look at his scared face, Radhika. Relax, my dear friend. We figured it out from the looks you have been giving each other all week. And the fact that whenever she had her phone out, your phone would start pinging. Also, you came up to take your photograph with Aru's family. It didn't take me long to figure that you are more than colleagues."

"As for the dance, doctor, I saw you go to a random spot and then Aru joined you exactly 2 minutes later. I think it's pretty obvious, right?" remarked Radhika.

"Yeah, you are right. We tried to be secretive the entire week, but you can't hide from everyone."

"Yeah, you definitely can't hide it from everyone. Well, I hope you are happy and content with Aru, and so is she. She's like a sister to us, and so we want what's best for her, Ethan", said Nikhil.

"I understand. You don't need to worry about Aru. I promise I'll take good care of her."

"Now, we are going to meet Aru to tell her the same thing."

"Let me know how she reacts, please. I can already imagine how much fun you both had. Also, do make sure to ask her in front of her family. They know about us, so you will have triple the fun."

"Sounds good. Talk to you later, Ethan!" saying so, the newly married couple made their way to Aru's family.

"Hi, everyone. Tumhi sagle kashe aahat?"

"Aamhi ekdum majet, enjoying all of your events", Sahil replied.

"Mmhm. I'm sure Ethan must have enjoyed it as well right, Aru?"

"I...I don't know what you are talking about," stammered Aru. 

Meanwhile, the Kulkarni family looked as if they had seen a ghost. 

"Tumhala kasa kalala?"

"Ethan ne sagitla aamhala."

"Nahi..you both must have scared him in the same way. Radhika, mi tula barya peki olakhte."

"Ho...."

"You are absolutely correct, Aru. These pulled the same thing on me."

"Ethan!" Aru exclaimed as she walked towards him.

"Beta, don't scream so loudly..."

"Sorry, aai! I just got excited."

"How did you get this excited even though you met almost...", Radhika said as she checked the time, "ten minutes ago?"

"Radhe, jau de tyana. Almost every couple is like that in their honeymoon phase."

"Aru, why didn't you tell me about Ethan?"

"As if you told me about you and Nikhil? At first, I thought you were set up by your parents."

"No, that's not how it was. It was quite a difficult task to convince our parents about each other. If I tell everyone here that we were together for five years before getting hitched, they'll go crazy, start gossiping and bashing us."

"Yeah, I know. We didn't reveal our relationship for the same reason", replied Aru.

"Well, I hope we hear your wedding bells next", Nikhil mentioned to Aru and Ethan.

"Well...," Aru said as she blushed.

"Ho, aata tujhya lagnachi tayari karayla pahije, didi."

"Sahil! Kay ugach kahi boltos. Amchya lagnala ajun khup vel aahe."

"Ho, ho. Apan baghu."

"Aata ghari jauya, kiddo. Parva flight aahe amchya doghancha."

"Aru.. were you dodging questions on our wedding?" asked Ethan.

"Yeah. You figured it out pretty quickly. But they were joking around."

"Don't sweat it, love. I know that was nothing serious and in good fun. As for our impending wedding, we can discuss that later. For now, I want to spend all my time with you. I've missed you dearly this last week. We are going out on a date tomorrow, so start preparing."

"Ethan, I have missed you a lot and don't want to leave your side until we get to work. I love you, honey."

"I love you too, Arundhati", he said as they walked towards her dad's rented car.

S9E5 — is so far the last one with Hartley DON'T YOU DARE KILL HIM OFF. just don't you dare! Diggle's appearance is less interesting. i guess he's just sent towards the team with some tech or info or whatever and he'll stay to help i have a feeling Mark would change sides again sooner than later. double spying or something i hope Ramsey will be on team flash's side i don't think Bivolo will. but it feels like one of them should be. they'd need even numbers for their precious one-on-one's S9E8 — Nia <3 i have no clue what they'll do with her character. just happy we'll see her S9E9 — here we have Oliver and Wally 👀 time travel? seems likely. i don't think team will be able to take engine back. or destroy it. they likely fuck up and then will be fixing everything S9E10 — and okay i'm interested in this ep the most for now. we have Henry and Nora and EDDIE (west-allen drama?) and my second favorite Captain — captain David Singh <3 i'm pretty sure they will try to make us cry S9E12 — we finally have nora west-allen! i hope Bart will be here too. it's still early, they can make changes with cast S9E13 — Eddie's still here which is curious. like i don't believe they resurrect him. no way in hell Eddie's being alive won't ruin Barry and Iris' marriage. well, in the show. it's not like they are bold enough to make thawne/west/allen canon and here we have Jay and Zolomon 👀

i hope we'll have more familiar faces this season. i can't say that i'm all that invested in anything right now Khione's love for plant's annoys me to no end. don't get me wrong she is adorable and made the right choice to live her life. but why plants? i just can't get it. i annoy myself because i'm annoyed by her love of plants chester/allegra drama just… i honestly just don't care. i want them to be done with it already. jeez i saw more chemistry between Fiddler and Jaco in the latest episode i want a damn good reason for Rayan as a bad guy, okay? i wasn’t a big fan of her batwoman, but they canceled the show after cliffhanger and i just wanted to get some closure. and now i have even more questions current ‘rogues’ are pale copies of something we should have had around season one or two, maybe three. “time to light this match” my ass. I’m bias, i know, i just want my favorite two punning assholes back 😭 even if just for a two minutes appearance

Summary:

Years ago, Azura Icewind and her crew sailed the Sea of Thieves with pride. Now her daughter, Stella Icewind, wants to follow in her mother's footsteps as the next Captain Icewind. That is, if she can even make it to the Sea of Thieves in one piece...

11 years ago…

A flash of lightning tore through the dark clouded sky as thunder seemed to be constantly rumbling overhead. Combined with the howling wind, it was nearly impossible for the crew of the Icebreaker to hear their captain barking out orders. At the wheel was a middle-aged woman in an ice blue fur-lined coat with ice crystals seeming to emerge from the shoulders, matching boots and gloves and navy pants. She had long flowing auburn hair that reached past her waist and faded to an icy blue about halfway down, as if half of her hair was frozen, and tanned skin adorned with glowing blue markings that were occasionally visible through breaks between her gloves and along her neck. Bright almost glowing blue eyes pierced through the gloom as she struggled to keep her galleon steady in the battering winds. This woman is Azura Icewind, captain of the Glacial Dragons. “Skuggi, how much farther?” she yelled over the storm at a figure glad in purple robes, shaggy black hair tousled and drenched as grey eyes glanced up at his captain. “Should be dead ahead, captain!” he replied in a slight Icelandic accent. “Land ho!” A crewmate cried from the crow’s nest as the silhouette of an island appeared through the thick rainfall, a large peak piecing the thundering clouds. “Prepare to dock!” Azura yelled before staring intently at the island. It wasn’t marked on any of her navigator’s maps. ‘Dragon’s Truth’ Skuggi called it. Azura placed a hand over her chest where her heart would be as a faint blue glow shone through her coat. “I’ll see this through…for both of us…”

Meanwhile… 

The sky was clear and starry as the waves calmly lapped at sandy shores. All was silent aside from the slight crunching of sand accompanied by the sound of wood carefully being dragged across it. That and the sound of a 10-year-old quietly grunting as she dragged what seemed to be a make-shift dinghy with a sail attached to it and a rock tied with rope, serving as an anchor or sorts. She let out a sigh as she finally got the boat near the water’s edge. Stella Icewind. A young girl with shoulder length, dark brown hair with frosted tips, ice blue eyes, and tanned, freckled skin. Clad in a raincoat, trousers and boots with a fake pirate hat on, she gazed out at the horizon with a determined expression. Just as she was about to push the boat into the water, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Stella let out a sigh of defeat as she turned around to face an elderly woman clad in a brown dress, that looked like it had been sewn and patched up over many years of use, who smiled sadly down at her. “Nana, I…you see…I gotta…” Stella tried to come up with an excuse but was shot down by the woman slowly shaking her head, “Stella, I know you want to follow your mother out into the Sea of Thieves but you’re still too young.”

“She needs me though…” Stella mumbled. “I’m sure your mother is willing to wait a few more years for your grand arrival.” Stella’s grandmother reassured, “But for now, try to enjoy your time on land. After all, you may start to miss it when you spend the majority of it on the water. Now off to bed. Even pirates need their sleep.”

“Ok…” Stella groaned as she glanced once more at the horizon before following her grandmother inside their cottage not far from the water’s edge.

Present Day…  

  A now 21-year-old Stella hammered diligently at a now-more-sea-worthy dinghy. Her hair was now chin-length and messy, still retaining the frost-white tips. She wore a white and light blue kimono-jacket with splits at the shoulders which revealed the dark blue shirt underneath, along with blue hakama pants tied with an ice-blue ribbon and blue sandals and white tights. A blue crystal necklace hung from her neck. She let out a content sigh as she placed her hammer down in the golden sands before stepping back to admire her handy work. The sky was a bright blue with the sun shining down; not a cloud in the sky. She took a quick swing from her waterskin before placing it into her rucksack and loading it onto the dinghy. As she did a quick once-over, she could hear footsteps approach from behind. “You can’t stop me this time, Nana.” Stella began without turning around, “Dead or not, I have to finish what she started.”

The day before, Nana had revealed to Stella that her mother had gone missing 11 years ago and was presumed dead. This was the final straw for her and was ready to begin her journey to the Sea of Thieves.

“I know. And I’m not here to stop you.” Stella’s grandmother sighed, “I should’ve told you sooner. I know I can’t hold you back any longer. I knew you’d eventually set out there whether I allowed it or not. All I ask is that you be careful. I lost a daughter. I don’t want to lose a granddaughter too.” Stella gripped the edge of her boat tightly before spinning around and hugging her grandmother, “You won’t. I promise.” Stella’s grandmother gently hugged her back before stepping away, “Now go. Enjoy your adventure and don’t look back.”

Stella nodded, fighting back tears before giving the dinghy one last push into the water. She carefully stepped into the boat and, taking a deep calming breath, she unveiled the sails, immediately catching the wind. As the dinghy took to the waves, Stella gave one last wave to her grandmother before facing the horizon. As she gripped the crystal around her neck, a lullaby that her mother sang to her – which she referred to as the anthem of the Sea of Thieves – came to her head as she began to quietly sing it to herself.

 “Cloaked in folds of midnight waters, Side by side, we sons and daughters. We set forth for no king's orders, But we'll sail together. Hold fast, tides are turning. Flames roar, fires are burning. We'll all be returning, If we sail together…”

The Next Day...

“…ugh…”

Stella groggily woke up on an island, lying on her side. In front of her was a lit campfire and just a few feet beyond it was the shoreline with a partially wrecked sloop calmly floating on the crystal blue waters. Tropical plants and trees covered the island. Stella sat up, racking her brain as she tried to remember how she got there. That’s when she remembered. Her boat was attacked by a skeleton ship. The good news was that meant she was more than likely on the outskirts of the Sea of Thieves. The bad news was that her tiny dinghy didn’t stand a chance against the huge ship. Her boat took a direct hit from a cannonball, completely wrecking it. “Must’ve washed up here…great.” Stella sighed as she got to her feet.

“Indeed. You were quite fortunate to survive.”

Stella jumped, not expecting to hear another voice. Before she could question anything, a green glow emerged from the campfire and took on a humanoid shape. In front of her was the ghost of a portly man with a thick beard. He wore a standard pirates outfit – slightly torn – aside from a cloak on his back (along with three swords which Stella suspected was the reason for his ghostly form) and a wooden griffon claw as a pegleg. He also used a cane with a gaping skull on the top. “You look a little worse for wear, my friend. You must be on quite the journey.” He noted. “You could say that. Who are-?” Stella was cut off by the growling of a ferocious monster- oh wait, no, that was just her stomach. The ghost chuckled a bit, “I should eat something, if I were you. A full belly can do wonders for your spirits.”

“Ah, y-yeah…” Stella looked around and noticed a banana lying a couple of feet away from her. She picked up the yellow fruit, scoffing it down quickly. “There, you look better already. Maybe even strong enough to reach the Sea of Thieves.” The ghost smiled, “These days they call me The Pirate Lord, but you may call me Ramsey. Back when I discovered this place, I was just a bold explorer like you. I dreamt of finding uncharted waters filled with treasures and rife with danger, where every sunrise brought a new adventure…”

“Wait…is this…am I in the Sea of Thieves?” Stella’s eyes lit up with newfound hope. “Nearly. You’ve one last crossing to make.” Ramsey replied, “But it seems like you lost your gear upon washing up here.” Sure enough, Stella’s rucksack was nowhere to be seen. “Not to worry though, there’s some old weapons and equipment lying about here that you can use. If you’re up for a bit of work that is.” Stella gave a determined nod, “If it means I can get to the Sea of Thieves, I’ll do it.”

“Well now, I’d say you’re as ready as you’ll ever be for what’s ahead.” Ramsey said as Stella loaded the last of the equipment from the Pirate Lord’s chest into a bag, “Allow me to show you the path…” Ramsey motioned to the fog-covered horizon before slamming his cane into the ground, causing the mist to part and lanterns to alight in the distance. “The Shroud is beginning to part, but you have one more task before your journey continues.” Ramsey continued, “You may be ready to sail, but your ship still needs repairs. Go, and tend to her wounds! After that, I must bid you farewell.”

“Thanks for your help.” Stella smiled, “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it.”

“It’s no bother at all. Now go. Adventure awaits!”

Stella nodded before sprinting towards the old sloop. As Ramsey watched the young woman scuttle about the ship, fixing it up, he muttered to himself, “She’s most certainly your daughter, Azura. I wonder if she’ll live up to your legacy…?” With that, he disappeared in a puff of green smoke.

Stella huffed and puffed as she raised the anchor. Once it was secured, she grabbed the ropes for the sails and unravelled them before hurrying over to the wheel, guiding the ship away from the island and through the lanterns. As she sailed, she could see the wrecks of many ships, ranging from sloops to full galleons. As unnerving as it was, she tried not to let it get to her as she pushed on. She jumped as she saw what seemed like a giant shark-like creature briefly surface before diving under her ship. She remembered stories her mother told her as a child of creatures that lurked in the Sea of Thieves, with one of them being a sea beast called the Megalodon. She wagered that was one of them. Her thoughts were interrupted by a large splash on her portside. A skeleton ship. Stella was about to steer away in a panic when she realised that her new ship was outfitted with cannons. “Might as well get some practise with these things.” She muttered and she scrambled down the steps and grabbed some cannonballs from a nearby barrel, loading them into the cannons. Her first few shots missed completely but she managed to land one, knocking a skeleton overboard. Just as she was about to aim the next shot, tentacles shot up from the water beneath the skeletons’ ship and began to drag it down under the waves. “Kraken too, huh? Better them than me…” Stella mumbled, somewhat relieved the monstrous squid targeted the skeletons instead of her. She pushed the ship forward until she began to spot islands off in the distance as the fog began to close behind her. There was no turning back now. But Stella didn’t want to.

“I made it, mom.” Stella breathed, a few stray tears escaping, “I made it…”

“I’m home.”
