RESULTS OF LAST WEEK’S POLLS

Korra vs. Merrin

During a match between Avatar Korra (The Legend of Korra) and Nightsister Merrin (Star Wars Jedi), Merrin started taunting Korra by saying that she’s nothing more than Asami Sato’s shadow. Namely that she can’t think for herself and needs Asami’s guidance. Flustered and frustrated, Korra lost her cool. This resulted in Merrin landing her finisher - the Goodnight Sister (Cradle DDT aka Paige’s RamPaige) - and pinning Korra.

Korra, after her loss to Merrin, threw a tantrum around the ring. Even though she swore that the “Asami’s shadow” taunts weren’t getting to her, it’s clear now that they are.

Ruby Rose (RWBY), the current Ultimate Women’s Champion and Korra’s opponent at Fictional Wrestlemania, laughed as she watched Korra’s tantrum. Even though she doesn’t truly hate Korra, Ruby is happy that she has the momentum going into their showdown.

Nami and Nico’s response to the emergency tag team request

Despite Monkey D. Luffy asking Nami and Nico Robin (all from One Piece) to help out in the emergency tag team request from Yang Xiao Long and Weiss Schnee (both from RWBY), Nami and Nico both refused. Their reason was that they were staying out of Yang and Weiss’ feud.

Because no one decided to volunteer for the tag team match, the match was cancelled. This resulted in Yang throwing a tantrum and attacking Weiss backstage. It looks like the first time the two of them will meet in the ring will be at Fictional Wrestlemania.

Spike (Buffyverse) vs. Billy Hargrove (Stranger Things)

Spike was put in a match against Billy Hargrove. The background of this match is that Angel is currently in a feud with Patrick Bateman (American Psycho), which is part of his bigger feud against the entire Horror-Wrestling community. The feud started after Angel took down several horror-themed wrestlers in a row, earning him the nickname “The Slasher-Killer”.

But Ohkubo's entire exercise is why the "Tommy Westphall Universe" idea is often more damaging to storytelling than helping it, especially, as with Soul Eater and Fire Force, how incongruous the messages are from each story, and how stuff in Fire Force needlessly contradicts details (and, again, messages and themes) from Soul Eater.

And that's not even getting into how hardly "perfect" the Soul Eater world was. Imagine how bad things get in Fire Force that somehow a world of rampaiging monsters, murderous witches, and continued chaos throughout the world is "perfect."

Thanks again, Shinra: you did a horrible job.

Thanks again, Ohkubo: you told the story you wanted to tell, but you tainted what good you accomplished in the earlier story that would stand on its own. Can't wait to keep hearing the "reboot the Soul Eater anime" crowd keep asking for something that will mostly drag in what doesn't work (the Fire Force connection, Chapter 113) than what is needed (Black Star's progression, adapting more about Soul's self-doubts, Liz's regret over Kid's capture).

I'm so proud of Paige!

She seems a lot happier these days and she's training almost everyday and is expected to return very soon. I'm honestly so excited for her return and I hope she somehow gets to be on the SD Women's Team for Survivor Series. After the year she's had I don't know how she's still standing, I know I wouldn't be. It's just a testament to how strong she truly is and I hope she has the best return possible.
