Dreams are something of a mystery. No one, not a single scientist, knows why we dream. Are we simply filtering through memories as we sleep? Are our subconscious trying to tell us something? Or are we tapping into a realm beyond our reality?
=============================================
When Mabel first appeared in her dreamscape, she was well on her way to a panic attack because she thought she was back in Mabeland…or that everything after was all a dream and that she never left Mabeland and Weirdmageddon was still happening.
What clued Mabel that it wasn’t the case was because everything was downscaled from how Mabeland was presented, with way less lighting and – thankfully – a proper playlist. And no Dippy Fresh, thank the glitter gods.
On the plus side, Mabel got to hang out with Xyler and Craz, who appeared to help her realize where she was and she was thankful.
Then, Xyler had to say something to her.
“Oh, right! I totally forgot to tell you that the Maiden wants to have tea with you!”
“The Maiden?” Mabel asked. Maiden? Oh, no! Did she accidentally conjure up Jennica?! Hopefully, she isn’t causing a rift to happen between Xyler and Craz like in Dream Boy High 2: Big Summer Blow Out!
“She’s waiting for you at your place,” Craz said, pointing over at a nearby corner building that resembled her castle in Mabeland, just smaller.
Seeing nothing else to do, Mabel headed on over there. She reaches for the door – barely noticing how she is colored shades of rose – and opens the door. Waiting for her on the other side was, in fact, this Maiden.
And she(?) wasn’t what Mabel expected when thinking ‘maiden.’
In Mabel’s honest opinion, the Maiden…wasn’t pretty. In fact, she looked dead. Like, all bones dead. And she wasn’t like that whitish color that bones have. She was all black, as though she was colored with charcoal. A striking contrast to all the colors surrounding them.
And her dress, while still somehow immaculate, was in tatters in certain areas, mainly around the lower portions of her dress and sleeves and there was dirt and grim staining the faded colors. It was like she died on her way to a Victorian party and was buried in the very dress she was wearing.
If anything, though, the Maiden’s dark hair was surprisingly fine and lengthy…like reeeaaally long. It spreaded out behind the Maiden, covering almost every surface on that side of the room and hanging off furniture and lamps, like dark, silky veils.
That side of the room looked dimmer, like the dark tresses seemed to be absorbing the color.
The Maiden sat at the tea table with a saucer in hand. Another set sat patiently across from her, waiting for Mabel to take a seat.
And Mabel cautiously did, watching the Maiden’s movements. The Maiden moved to take a sip of tea – prompting Mabel to notice her long and sharp canines and empty eye sockets – and no tea spelt out.
“Um…hi?” Mabel said nervously.
In fluid motion like an old-timey lady, the Maiden gestured to Mabel's waiting cup with her slender, bone hand.
Realizing that the Maiden wanted her to take the tea cup, Mabel carefully picks up the piece of china. She wasn’t sure what to do until the Maiden made another gesture. At first, Mabel thought the skeletal figure wanted her to drink it…which was something Mabel didn’t want to do, until she realized the Maiden just wanted her to look at it.
So, Mabel peered inside the cup, seeing that the ‘tea’ was swirling unnaturally, like a vortex or galaxy. In the middle was a – very familiar – ‘X’ shape… She couldn’t shake her gaze away from it, even as something dark and oily started to taint the ‘tea’...
▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△-▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△-▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△-▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△-▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△
She blinks awake in the morning, inside of her bedroom. Waddles was asleep in his piggie bed, unaware of Mabel’s newfound uneasiness to what she had witnessed.
She glances over to her nightstand to see a clipboard with some paper on it and a pencil, placed there last night when Mabel was brainstorming a knitting project.
Mabel seats up in bed and takes the clipboard and pencil and begins to draw.
Once finished, she stared at the crud drawing of the Maiden and her rose-colored self and the tea.
She also drew a question mark between them, unsure what to make of the whole thing.

Bluewater Village: The Ramirez household Year one: introduction
Meet Checo Ramirez. His bio reads: "Checo has always been a stellar salesman, but will running the furniture store burn out this bright star, or will the store's profits reach astronomical proportions?"
He owns Ramirez's Fine Furniture in Bluewater Village, where he sells, well, furnitures.
Meet Lisa Ramirez. Her bio reads: "Now that Tessa has started school, Lisa finally feels free to take her own road. Will she go back to helping Checoleín at the furniture store, or will she pursue her own personal path...?"
Meet Tessa Ramirez. Her bio reads: "An excellent student and upcoming entrepreneur, Tessa can already sell a drink to a drowning Sim. She's following in her dad's footsteps, but will Tessa grow up to take over the family business, or start one of her own?"

Julien Cooke's date thinks everyone else is crazy, but no one else wore a backpack to a first date.
Yelp Review: Don't buy furniture from Ramirez's Fine Furniture. Claims it's new, but it's definitely been used!
Gallagher and Gabriella Newson fell in love in foster care. I need to change all the kids' last names.

Uberhood Pics (54) - Ramirez
The Ramirez's have been busy: They worked on their business, Lisa started a job as a Teacher's Aide in the education career and they even had another child - Checo Ramirez Jr. Tessa grew up and works as an employee at Florence Delarosa's flower shop. I really enjoy playing them. They are so wholesome compared to some of the other families I play. 😅
Lisa & Checo had a little party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ramirez's Fine Furniture.
Wanda Tinker:
All their friends came from near and far to support and celebrate with them. 🥂

TS2 in TS4 Megahood: Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade Maps
Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade are my Bluewater Village. Since Bluewater Village is meant to be a shopping area for any neighborhood, I wanted these to have a kind of small town Americana feel. Not quite living in sprawl, but close.
Beginning in Magnolia Promenade, you'll notice that these commercial buildings are much boxier than most of what I built and are also taller. In my experience shopping districts are multiuse zones with apartments over shops. Most of my lots here have a kind of New Deal feel. The Victory Diner is based on a real diner that I used to go to and miss terribly. Across the street is Delarosa's Flowers and Ramirez Fine Furniture. The diner shares an alley with Tinker's Toys.
In Newcrest's commercial district there is a park with a dog run, an unowned vet's clinic, J'adore Bakery, and Infinite Horizons Booksellers. J'adore Bakery is owned by the Jacquet family and has a full kitchen in back as well as the means to make espresso drinks. I'm not sure how that works in a GTW retail scenario, but I would like a coffee with my pastry thankyouverymuch. Infinite Horizons is owned by the Larson twins, because their bio says they always wanted to own their own business, but doesn't say what that would be.
In the neighborhood marked by the flag, we've got the Ramirez family, the Larson twins, and Chester Gieke. I guess I would call these "Simsie Suburbans." The Ramirez family lives in the brown house on the corner as I remember their home being very brown in TS2. The Larsons live in the gray house with the green trim, and Chester in the cream house with red trim and green shutters.
In the neighborhood on the lake, we've got more space and I always struggle with what to do here. Two lots are deco lots, one being undeveloped land and the other a partially constructed house. Since the lots are too big for the houses I wanted to build, I put a lot of scrub around them to make the world feel less big and empty. Just in general, I want playing in this file to feel full and lively. Florence Delarosa lives in an adorable cottage with a huge garden next to the Jacquets who live in a 2 bedroom ranch. Catty corner to them live the Tinkers who live in an adorable 1920s kit house.

The furniture store is beginning to get back in the swing of things after a financially difficult period for the whole nation [we're just after the 2008 economic crisis on the not entirely alternative but at points slightly modified timeline]. The business is going up in ranks, gets good reviews and even awards! Ramirez’s Fine Furniture is now well known and trusted by customers across the city.
To keep up the pace, Checo has hired new employees to help out with restocking and selling items: Jared Starchild and Alisha Schneider join the team.
Unfortunately Alisha has realised she hates working in retail on her very first day on the job and quit. And Checo has realised he needs to pay his employees more to make them stay.
“Luckily”, a lot of fresh university graduates are left without good job opportunities amidst the ongoing long-term effects of the crisis, so Checo quickly finds someone to fill Alisha’s place: Jimmy Phoenix.

Hey, guess what? I got my game functioning well enough to make respectable progress of the Megakingdom of Simland!
...I pulled so much stuff that I am going to have to go hunting for replacements (such as the awning, and I was tricked by recolors occasionally, and some stuff is now blue that I don’t think was before), and my game did crash when I was quitting, but I was already in the neighborhood so it’s probably fine. Not sure whether that’s something I can dismiss as “normal for an old buggy game when I left it on for Some Time”, but I’m gonna anyway.
So check it out! I remodeled the Cordial house!
...damn, I didn’t think to check the resolution, and my testing wiped out the pretty sky (don’t worry, I replaced it later!).
My first Merchant-level remodel or build. I think I did okay!
I altered the layout to match the Merchant MCC guidelines, although this house is probably a bit bigger than expected. They still have a magic study, but it’s not secret and I forgot to take a picture of it, apparently. The plan is to get them set up as witches, and have them own a magic shop where they sell reagents, potions, and the DA herbs they have planted in their garden. It’s a little sparse, but that gives room to grow. Also, they only get to keep this house if one of them marries a college man or a spare who’s willing to move in--if both of them marry men with inheritances of their own, they’ll have to leave the house. I’m fudging the Merchant guidelines slightly on furniture to give them both double beds, but will correct that as soon as one of them moves out.
And I did a lot of makeovers, too! Apparently I did the Ramaswamis ages ago but presumably my game crashed before I had enough content and I got discouraged or something, but here they are!
Priya
and Sanjay! They’re the other Merchants of Pleasantview, alongside the Oldies, and are going to own the local food market.
Moving on at last to Bluewater Village:
Mary Gavigan--her face can be a little difficult, but I think she looks very nice!
Nathan Gavigan
and Isaiah Gavigan! They’re peasants, and I haven’t figured out exactly what labor job they’ll be assigned, but something in the ballpark of “fishermen” seems appropriate for BWV.
Julien Cooke, another peasant. I just had to keep his distinctive facial hair even if it’s a little fiddly for the lower classes. He’s likely to still be a cook in some form, but I’ll have to see what he’s interested in and what products will need to be covered.
Chester Gieke! The glasses don’t fit his face well, but aside from that, the medieval hair really suits him! He’s another peasant, and I’m pretty sure he should be a fisher, although somebody in this subhood needs to farm, too.
Jason Larson. He and his sister are Yeomen, and I haven’t figured his job out yet, either.
Jodie Larson. You know, the faces on a lot of the later EP sims can be very wonky, but somehow they got Jodie with a unique face structured approximately like a supermodel, and I never noticed before. She turned out so pretty!
And that’s it! I need to build the BDC hedge tavern for the Baldwins to own, the magic shop for the Cordials to own, and build/remodel houses for the Clevelands, Geoff Rutherford, Connor Weir, and the DeBateaus, and then evaluate the wealth of BDC and it’ll be about ready to play. Might need to clear out some more modern houses and buildings first, although I would really like to remodel them instead. Next on the makeover list is the Jacquets, the Tinkers, Florence Delarosa, and the Ramirezes, and then I can move on to Strangetown, probably my favorite!
I’m also working on preparing my spreadsheet and picking out traits for everybody--if anyone has good traits for the premades I’m all ears, but for now I am just picking out the ones that make sense to me and then randomizing the rest.
