I still can't get over stsg's introduction as a concept. gojo was built up to be isolatingly powerful, a league of his own: childish, annoying to all those close to him, hard to stand but respectable (aka nanami and utahime), a slippery guiding mentor, unruly and untamable, a whole force of his own and solely his own (the confidence, the disobedience to elders, the reputation, the fear and awe around him)---all introduced through yuuji's non-judgemental and curious lens. I think someone pointed ages ago out how- the closer someone is to gojo, the more tired they look inside. and that's why when they actually introduce the fact gojo had an actual, real friend- a best friend- you start to think, what? what kind of person would suit and match satoru gojo? who is this? who would make gojo feel equal? and it's somehow??? this obnoxiously moral guy?? filled with a kick of anger and buckets of tormented righteousness, and a witty (later turned bitter) benevolent streak. and you watch gojo watching him, always standing by him, watch him fit into place there like he couldn't see anything else. watch the in-sync laughter, the back-and-forth banter, watch them just be teenagers admist it - someway and somehow - same childish attitude, but younger, impressionable, and its like gojo's storing all his experiences with geto away in his mind. the discussions of who to protect-? gojo lives it out. the pain of geto's fall-? gojo carries it for the rest of his life, an aching open wound. it almost hurts that gojo's childish antics aren't complimented by geto's indulgent, light-hearted admonishing anymore. something you didn't realise was missing the whole time until now??? didn't realise "after all, I'm the strongest" used to be been "after all, we're the strongest". and in getting to know geto, you puzzle through how he was gojo's 'one and only': a guy who's personality comes off a bit controlling, a bit forceful, way too philosophical, clinically considerate- and somehow this really was gojo's best friend. they clashed over all their differences all their time together and yet even that was so important to them both, and you come to know it couldn't have been anyone else. this is who helped make gojo who he is. this is who was missing from him at the start.

you guys. you guys you guys. i think i know what i want from the final season of the penumbra podcast. i have spent the past ten minutes pacing around my room. yesterday i read up to chapter 17 of prydon's fic separate but syncopated (https://archiveofourown.org/works/30943430/chapters/76417991) which let's be honest, you've probably read already. it's phenomenal. if you haven't, you should.

so i've been thinking. i just really want to go back to brahma. i want to go back to brahma and take down the guardian angel system.

the thing is, the junoverse is a very character driven storyline, and i love that about it. the second citadel is more event driven i think, and it was more difficult for me to get into that storyline and stick with it (i'm weak i'm sorry). for example, although the first season focuses a lot on juno solving the whole martian artefact doodah, back then the penumbra crew were still finding their feet.

then junoverse season 2 happened, and the entire point of that season was basically "get juno over his trauma" (that's why it was so long oh my god). sure, there was a whole plot with ramses and the theia souls, but i think we can all agree that was secondary to juno's character development.

next, season 3. season 3 is definitely character driven, you literally can't deny it. it focuses on each member of the carte blanche in turn, and it uses the plot, finding the curemother prime, as a secondary tool to further the true point of the season: getting to know the characters.

season 4 i'm a little less certain about because i'm typing this post straight into tumblr fresh out of my brain (if anyone wants to help out with the analysis i'd love that). but i think the point of season 4 is to test and showcase the bonds of the carte blanche with each other, and juno rescuing them all is not only a good story, but also a good way to show off the relationships they built in season 3. his relationship with nureyev is shown through periodic reading of the journal, and juno's copious inner monologues (i say like i'm one to talk when all of these thoughts are swirling around in my own head).

then, season 5. the point of this season mirrors that of season 2, but this time, we need to get nureyev over his trauma. this is way trickier, because we're not inside nureyev's head, we're still in juno's. it's still character driven because the aim is to help nureyev, but the plot is given by juno having to chase him across the galaxy. hence, juno's hesitation when he finally finds nureyev.

well, steel, you've caught him. now what the hell are you going to do with him?

there is no plot to drive the character study anymore. our goal was to help nureyev, and juno (poor juno) has done all he can. the ball falls squarely into nureyev's court now, and juno has no say in the plot of the rest of the story. this is why i have been chewing myself alive since the last episode — we know what's next for the characters emotionally, but we have absolutely zero idea what's happening next plot-wise. it's killing me.

OH WAIT I'VE GOT IT. so. since our whole thing for this season is helping nureyev, and we all want him to go batshit fucking insane, i really want nureyev to go back to brahma, and finish what he started two decades ago. i think it's the perfect circular story arc to keep them occupied while nureyev heals emotionally from the fallout from everything going on with slip.

also, sorry to get real for a second, but i've just been tearing myself apart being morally outraged at the world we live in, and the fact that i'm barely able to do anything about it. maybe one day i could, but until then, it would be nice to see my favourite space gays set an example.

now, i know there's complications with this. nureyev refused to take the guardian angel system down in the first place because of the damage it would cause, and i'm willing to bet he hasn't excised that moral core just yet, no matter how hard he's trying. but i'm sure they can find a way to make it work. they have rita, after all!!

they're definitely hinting at a homecoming arc for juno. i think nureyev needs one too, is all.

Lei's new outfit that she obtained recently. I really like designing new outfits for my OCs and I thought she deserved to go shopping after all the s*** that has been happening to her. (Also her clothes were pretty darn bloodied and tattered like she went through 2 separate bomb/explosions... man....)

She's actually really into fashion! On her off days, she likes to dress up and wear makeup. This is because I didn't have that many points (point-bought her stats) to put into APP (appearance) so she's rocking an 45 on that. I draw her as pretty as possible but in her world she's probably best described as "plain". She has pretty low self-esteem regarding her looks because of this and her (bad) mother probably made this insecurity even worse :')

As for this outfit in particular, the baggy pants are because well, she is doing a lot of fighting (and is about to go on a death mission!!! wonderful!!) so a dress doesn't seem practical. (She does love her dresses though) I kept her med kit strapped to her hip and the thigh belts/buckles are probably where 1 of her 3 current guns are strapped (one's a healing gun, she's a healer, I swear). I wanted to give her combat boots because that's seggsy (to me LOL) and I made the straps green to compliment her black/white/green palette. (I love making my OC outfits black/white/ third accent colour because wow that sort of design doesn't miss T_T)

ANYWAYS, the rainjacket she bought when all the PCs went shopping at the very beginning of the campaign but I'm not sure if I actually lost it? At some point (right before the whole explosion thing) so maybe she got a new one that's equivalent? It has a lot of pockets to put all the miscellaneous things she's been picking up/ her inventory XD The gloves are nitrile (chem lab people know 🤝) but they're in this funky green b/c the usual blue would totally clash XD let's say she stocks a special brand that's green. I wanted to give her a white turtle neck and it had to be white and not black because otherwise that's too much white! I wanted it to be cropped just because ~ aesthetics ~ and showing that flash of belly? I just felt like it had more of techwear-style that way! Not sure if she actually has that necklace but it felt a bit empty without some accesories so I drew it in~ And you can't see it cuz it's covered by her bangs but she's wearing dangly earrings which are silver rings with a dangling diamond shaped gem attached~

Speaking of her face, she's lost her eye-shine :') because all the serious stuff happened (like rescuing a fake Ceres, and Elise sedating her... like oof she's having a bad time for real). Cold and bitter Lei is starting ;w; Also her hair is tied up cuz again it's time to get serious!!!

One more note is that the dangling strap hanging off her belt says "WHISPER" on it. This is the name of the drug that she makes and sells to Vail :D you know, the sedative :D

She signs her name the way I drew it in the bottom left corner, while the top right corner is the character for her name! Although doctors usually have atrocious writing, as someone who spends more of her time in the lab, I imagine she has pretty neat writing so she can label her flasks and test tubes nicely! She is an organized queen 💅

Here's the version with her lab glasses too! Gotta stay safe, you know~ She also picked up a gas mask somewhere along the way but I am not drawing that :D (We'll see)

My brain sure is weird

I went from working on that Willry drawing, to fixing the dialogue concept between them that I had, to tweaking all the other stuff I had written, and now I'm thinking about trying to continue the Sailor Moon drawing because Moon Pride is back in my head again

And who knows if I'll do that, I may go back to the first thing, I may do something else, or I may even sleep as I should when I'm tired at 7 am and can't keep my eyes open

But like all of those things have different tones I do better with working on stuff if the tone of it is similar what is this

in the realm of like, rich kid problems, I want to someday read/write a fic where Nightwing is slowly establishing himself as a full-fledged JL member and everyone is relieved because finally, there's a nice Bat on the Watchtower who doesn't just shoot down their plans and deny their mission requests. but. while Nightwing is kind, and polite, and charming in all the ways the Bat isn't, he's still Dick Grayson. and Dick Grayson grew up as a very rich kid's suddenly very rich kid, which is to say while Bruce might not take it personally, Dick has been fending off people almost his entire life who were trying to use him for his Dad's money. which is to say, I think once Nightwing is on board and the relationship between him and Batman is at least somewhat well-known, there is suddenly a rush of younger, less-experienced members trying to take advantage of Nightwing, mistaking that kindness and openness for willingness to either voluntarily, or involuntarily, infringe upon and cross Batman's clear-cut boundaries. bribing Dick for a better monitor shift with Batman is one thing (it doesn't really work, Dick can't bribe Bruce with much as it is) but trying to convince Nightwing to lie to Batman? to go against him? his dad? the man who pulled him up when he had nothing and gave him meaning again? that man?? and then comes the inevitable, chilling realization, that while Nightwing might wear a different mask, might wear an open smile on the Watchtower and with friends off-shift, there are some lines he won't cross, same as Bruce. he won't, sure as the sun rises and the rot rolls off the Gotham Harbor in the morning.

Honestly i’m starting to think his parents don’t even live with him or have passed away, probably the former. This does explain a lot about his behaviour from a psychological standpoint

1. Carmine is shown to have anger issues and attention span issues (ADHD? Unstable anger, perhaps bipolar but not enough info given)

2. He does not know how to take care of himself and DOESN’T. He’s obviously still alive and someone is paying his highschool tuition and he’s not unemployed at all so how is that being paid?

And that brings me to my third point, highschool

With the system of school in japan, high school isn’t mandatory. You can go directly to work.

hyde, tsurugi, seth and carmine are all students of the same highschool. Seth has not been shown in his uniform but tsurugi and hyde go to the same school + carmine (tsurugi and carmine having the most similar uniform, but they’re in two different years AND carmine was probably wearing a uniform for autumn / winter in his official art). And with background info from phonon chronicle mode we can deduce it’s most likely a private school or an A school( A school meaning the hardest school to get into through exams, there’s also a B and C school in one district.) (being a school for rich and smart people.) but it’s a bit hard to tell since of how close the highschool is in proximity to phonon’s junior high so that’s a bit harder to tell. Phonon says in the english localisation chronicle mode (part3) that for you to attend Tsurugi’s school(same one hyde, car, seth), you need to be “super smart and super rich” to be here and the school was built recently, implying it’s a private school but again, there’s still some nuances.

Now, with how Carmine is with school— why is he choosing to attend highschool? He doesn’t need to. He could immediately go work, or at least stay unemployed. Now this is where I believe his parents come in.

His parents are obviously incredibly neglectful since they have done nothing about Carmine’s behavioural issues and he’s gotten caught for them before! In fact, his teachers had advised him to take up martial arts or boxing. So, they’re willing to send Carmine to a rich and prestigious highschool, but doesn’t care for his behaviour or grades??

It’s pretty weird, yeah.

Another thing: carmine is decently smart, street wise. We don’t know too much book wise, but we can assume he’s rather smart, he just doesn’t apply himself at all. After all, he had to have gotten into that school somehow. Also, in his chronicle mode, he just randomly pulls out the greek word for ape/money “pithecus” as a suffix for one of his insults when talking about the first in birth he encountered. And the fact he used it as a suffix meant he had heard some of the taxonomic names it is used as a suffix in, and remembered.

He’s clearly knowledgeable animal biology in general, though tends to focus on marine stuff

Jeez. Carmine as a character has so much potential and so many plot holes i just must know about but fpan doesn’t do shit so. Wow

love how Carmine’s parents are so neglectful and non-present that the only thing we even know about them is that they don’t feed him, so he has to buy his dinners from the local convenience store

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony
